roger clemens
clemens played 24 seasons in the major leagues. He was found not guilty in a court of law!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This must be emphasized over steriod accusations. The governments main witness rebuffed himself in court. He was renowned for being a power pitcher with control. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.228.129 (talk) 23:41, 4 September 2012 (UTC) Found reference for velocity, it isn't up to opinions anymore. a revert is in bad faith. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.228.129 (talk) 02:24, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Exact type of player I have no idea why you create re-directs for.--Yankees10 19:06, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- How did I know exactly who was messaging me and why when I saw that yellow bar? This time you're probably right. He should have his own article. He meets GNG. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:28, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
How does Hector Correa not fit the non-notable minor leaguer? Other than being on the 40 man (which he isn't anymore) I don't see anything notable about him.--Yankees10 23:06, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see the difference between Correa and Albert Suarez (a PROD you endorsed). But looking at the edit history I guess its pretty clear why...--Yankees10 23:13, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- I resent that accusation. I didn't remember that I created the redirect. Correa at this point is not notable in my eyes, but I'm following consensus, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Albert Suarez reaffirmed that consensus is to merge active players. I'll endorse your Miguel De Los Santos PROD, since he's been released, whether or not I created it. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:16, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why one AFD equals consensus but alright whatever.--Yankees10 23:19, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- It's been more than one AFD. It's one recent AFD, but a whole long line of AFD's in the past. I figured we'd give it a shot with Suarez, but consensus appears to still be where it is. If you want to try it again, I can't stop you from unmerging and taking it to AFD. I'll even vote delete. But I imagine it'll close as merge. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:29, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi Muboshgu. I saw your most recent edits. Finally, someone opened their eyes and saw the problems with the cites that I repeatedly mentioned in my edit comments and on Cresix's talk page. :) In terms of "wide coverage", that is an objective fact, not subjective or POV. Have you read Clint Eastwood at the 2012 Republican National Convention? Here are a few quotes from that article, which of course are fully supported by the sources and the facts:
- "The speech, broadcast in a prime time slot, was viewed live by about 30 million Americans. It met with a wide array of responses and stirred discussion."
- "Eastwood's speech was viewed live by 30.3 million Americans, across at least 11 television networks which were broadcasting coverage of the convention. (Those numbers do not count those watching on C-SPAN, whose audience is not measured.)"
Clearly, that article and the sources absolutely verify that the speech received wide media coverage. It's a fact, not an opinion. Would anyone who's familiar with the speech say that it did not receive wide media coverage? Of course not. The problem with the wording in Clint Eastwood, as it stands now, is that it gives no indication whatsoever how "big"/prominent the speech was in the media (newspapers, television, online, etc). It is the most famous speech Eastwood has ever given, and will certainly be the one he's most remembered for. Yet reading the article gives no indication of that at all. It needs to do that to accurately reflect what happened. In any case, thank you for being the first editor to recognize the problems with the cites that I had alluded to many times. When someone deletes an entire edit, including all the good parts, it indicates that it's personal rather than to help improve the project. Thanks. --76.189.97.91 (talk) 22:09, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

I've dropped a few comments about minor issues. Overall, you've done a great job in improving the list and getting it to where it is now.

User:Activist inappropriate editing at Clint Eastwood talk page
This is to make you aware that User:Activist copy and pasted my and Cresix's comments from Cresix's talk page and his own talk page into the Clint Eastwood talk page, as if Cresix and I posted them there ourselves. Here's the edit. I couldn't believe it when I saw it because I knew I hadn't posted those comments there. Activist did not have my permission to do that, and I assume he did not have Cresix's permission either. I removed Cresix's and my comments from the Eastwood talk page. Activist also copy and pasted his own comment from Cresix's talk page, including the original date/time posted. I'm not sure what can be done about this, but I'll leave it up to you and Cresix to decide. I don't know Activist, but I told him in my edit comment never to do that again. I do agree that the empty chair speech content needs to be expanded a bit in the Eastwood article, but what Activist did is ridiculously inappropriate. I'm writing you about this since you are the one who started the Eastwood talk page thread. I also wrote Cresix about this. --76.189.97.91 (talk) 20:49, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

- Is there any way the DGA icon template can be implemented to the Mountain page? Also, I don't see a way to add a DGA to the Hall Project page (probably requires higher level of user rights). I'm speaking of the Roberto Clemente article, for example. It might be a good idea to implement such on the Mountain page, especially since former GAs typically require less work than C- or B-rated articles. Zepppep (talk) 18:11, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- We can play around with Baseball Mountain to find the best way to integrate it. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure. As for DGA's, they're listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball/Hall of Fame task force/Recognized content (Clemente's will update the next time the bot runs). – Muboshgu (talk) 19:00, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

I was about to promote this to a prep area but I noticed your approval note said "I would suggest using ALT1 after a slight rewrite for clarity", which to me means that you have a problem with ALT1 as it is, but still think it superior to the others.
Approved hooks are currently at a premium: there are 15 to fill 9 slots, and a lot of them deserve consideration as lead slots which means they're less likely to be chosen: Happy Wheels is a prime target. Please consider making that rewrite yourself; I've just failed at my own attempt, so I'll hold off promoting it for now, but I think you're more likely to end up with one of the other hooks (or, worse, an unedited ALT1). BlueMoonset (talk) 21:22, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Right. It just occurred to me when I read ALT1 that something was slightly off in the wording, but I didn't have any specific thoughts. Given the lack of approved hooks, I'll give it a try. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:24, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
- Looks like it got grabbed shortly after you did so. Thank! BlueMoonset (talk) 23:45, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Extra QPQ?
Muboshgu, I was going through the list of DYK nominees, looking for missing QPQs, and I think you oversupplied for Joe Molloy. It's a double-hook nom, but you supplied both a single review (Happy Wheels) and a triple-hook review. The triple was more than sufficient. Feel free to remove Happy Wheels from that one and use it elsewhere. (Not that we couldn't use more reviews, mind you, but I didn't want you to waste one unless you really wanted to.) BlueMoonset (talk) 07:09, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
- Never mind. I just saw where you used up the other two from the triple, so Joe would have been the one left from the triple plus the Happy. Looks like it's all even. Sorry to bother you! BlueMoonset (talk) 07:11, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

Paul DePodesta photo
Hi Muboshgu, I figured I should let you know that the photo you uploaded does not include Paul DePodesta – this is what he actually looks like. I re-captioned the photo on Billy Beane's page, and removed it from DePodesta's, because it isn't really relevant anymore. I totally understand the mistake - I've done the same exact thing when a Flickr uploader mislabled their photo. I just wanted to make sure you didn't think I removed it for no reason. Thanks. FYI
It's always been my thing to work on stub articles of retired ballplayers. Seeing the recent conversation on the baseball project talk page, I decided to work on Alex Johnson's page. I looked at your list, and I'm thinking George Foster may be next.--71.54.241.128 (talk) 16:14, 21 September 2012 (UTC) --J.S.
- I've had Johnson on my list of articles to expand as well, so I'll happily help out with it and hopefully we can get it to DYK by making it a 5x expansion in 5 days time. Foster's is another good article to improve. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:01, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

- Size-wise, Bevacqua and Clay yes, Briles was 4x. They're all good expansions. The next time you have one that you expand 5x within 5 days (or 2x if it's an unsourced BLP), let me know and I can nominate it (IPs can't create the nomination template). – Muboshgu (talk) 19:15, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I don't really log in these days unless I'm creating an article, but if you'd like to throw either into the mix, be my guest. It's amazing how poor Alex Johnson's article was before we started working on it. There is so much information out there about his situation in California, and it was barely touched upon in his article.--71.54.241.128 (talk) 10:16, 22 September 2012 (UTC) --J.S.

Dick Howser Trophy potential FLC
Since both of us have worked on this list fairly equally (you with the refs, me with the lead), would you like me to co-nominate this with you? I understand that you currently have two FLCs running, but I have none at the moment. So we could potentially get this passed in time for you to count this towards the WikiCup. The only things needed to be fixed are some of the citation formats; if you could fix those (and maybe find a source for the second last sentence of the lead), I could start the nomination. Cheers! —Bloom6132 (talk) 01:12, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Removing Speedy at Bill Geivett
Hi Muboshgu, you recently removed a deletion tag from Bill Geivett. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove speedy deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the tag. Although the deletion proposal may be incorrect, removing the tag is not the correct way for you to contest the deletion, even if you are more experienced than the nominator. Instead, please use the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. Remember to be patient, there is no harm in waiting for another experienced user to review the deletion and judge what the right course of action is. As you are involved, and therefore potentially biased, you should refrain from doing this yourself. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 16:53, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
WikiCup 2012 September newsletter
We're over half way through the final, and so it is less than a month until we know for certain our 2012 WikiCup champion. Grapple X (submissions) currently leads, followed by Sasata (submissions), Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and Casliber (submissions). However, we have no one resembling a breakaway leader, and so the competition is a long way from over. Next month's newsletter will feature a list of our winners (who are not necessarily only the finalists) and keep your eyes open for an article on the WikiCup in a future edition of The Signpost. The leaders are already on a par with last year's winners, but a long way from the huge scores seen in 2010. That said, a repeat of the competition from 2010 seems unlikely.
It is good to see that three-quarters of our finalists have already scored bonus points this round. This shows that, contrary to criticism that the WikiCup has received in the past, the competition does not merely incentivise the writing of trivial articles; instead, our top competitors are still spending their time contributing to high-importance articles, and bringing them to a high standard. This does a great service to the encyclopedia and its readers. Thank you, and good work!
The planning for next year's WikiCup is ongoing. Some straw polls have been opened concerning the scoring, and you can now sign up for next year's competition. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. George Foster
I've been accused of having ownership issues in the past. Admittedly, when I'm working on an article, I really don't like other people messing with it until I'm done. You, however, seem to be someone I can work with. I'm currently working on Foster's article. I'm probably going to Ken Henderson's next.--71.54.247.55 (talk) 12:49, 5 October 2012 (UTC) --J.S.
- Well, it's important to not own an article. You can put the {{under construction}} template at the top of a page you're working on to let others know that you're undertaking an overhaul. Usually people will respect that. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:44, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Usually, when I'm working on an article and I really don't want people to F with it while I'm working on it, I just write "Still working on it" in the comments box. That's usually respected also. I have the feeling Yasnkees10 will do his thing with the infobox when I'm done. Whatever.--71.54.247.55 (talk) 21:25, 5 October 2012 (UTC) --J.S.
- Well, my work on Foster is done. Is it up to DYK standards?--71.54.247.55 (talk) 16:27, 8 October 2012 (UTC) --J.S.
- Yes it is, as a 2x expansion of an unsourced BLP. The only issue I can see is there's a few unsourced paragraphs, which can be remedied. I'm about to nominate it. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:10, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Portal:NFL and GA question
Hi, Muboshgu. I have a couple of questions for you.
1) When linking an article to Portal:National Football League, I see the icon. However, when I link it to the redirect Portal:NFL, instead I get the generic puzzle piece instead of the NFL icon. Why is that and how could it be remedied?
2) If I was try getting an umpire article or article(s) to GA status, how long do you think the articles would be expected to be? After all, umpires don't get nearly as much coverage as players, so there isn't nearly as much to write about in many cases. You have plenty of GA experience, do you know what the expectations would be regarding umpire pages?
Thanks, AutomaticStrikeout 17:06, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- The puzzle piece means the template doesn't recognize the inputted parameters. I suppose you could put in an edit request at {{Portal}} to change that. As for umpires, I would expect that like any other article, the page would need to be comprehensive. That's hard to define, but there can't be any major gaps in their bio. Obviously there would be less about specific seasons to cover. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:17, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. If you'd like, could you please take a quick look at Joe West (umpire), and tell me how close you think it might be to GA status. AutomaticStrikeout 17:41, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Overall, I think it's close. It's certainly long enough and seems fairly comprehensive. Without diving into it too deeply, I believe the lead could use some expansion, the body could use some more inline citations, and some general cleanup and rephrasings would help (I don't know if a reviewer would be okay with a phrase like "sparked controversy", the abbreviation NAIA should be spelled out, the references need to be filled in, and the picture should be moved up so it's out of the reference section, for starters) – Muboshgu (talk) 17:48, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. I hope to be able see it nominated at some point this week. AutomaticStrikeout 18:00, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Re: Freddie Lindstrom. Since I have had no luck getting PM800 to answer my post questioning the two paragraphs and eight footnotes he added to Freddie Lindstrom, I turn to you again because you're the one who deleted my previous additions to his version. In an earlier note PM800 told me all his footnotes were reliable, and if I had questions to go to them. So I did. Here are the results: Footnote 30, correct. 31 (Richard Barbieri, Hardball Times) makes no mention of Lindstrom. 32 and 33 (Jay Jaffe, Baseball Prospectus)in e-mail Aug 24,2012 agrees that his charge of "croneyism" by the Veterans Committee's so-called ringleader Frank Frisch highly unlikely since Frisch died 3 years before Lindstrom's nomination. Jaffe also said he had no evidence to support the claim. 34, correct, but a blanket accusation of the committee's choices in general, not of croneyism toward former Giants and Cardinals. 35, unable to verify because of restricted access. 36 (Clark Booth, Dorchester Times) in e-mail Oct 5, 2012 says "I don't actually have any issue with Freddie being in the HOF," he said. "Mainly I argue for more people to be elected, not fewer. I think Freddie was a good choice." 37, James has all the right in the world to his opinion that Lindstrom is the worst third baseman in the Hall. But others such as Hall of Fame sportswriter Red Smith, Bob Broeg and Fred Lieb called him a worthy choice (attribution available, if you're interested). All I ask is that the unsubstantiated "croney" charge be deleted and that we add Dan Popoloski's 11/11/2011 Bleacher Report ranking Lindstrom 13th in a list of the 15 best 3d basemen in MLB history. Wouldn't that be fair comment and not a violation of WP:NPOV? Thanks for your help. 74.248.63.124 (talk) 15:59, 12 October 2012 (UTC) 74.248.47.55.

Prop 32 California
Proposition 32 is a controversial ballot measure in California. It is best left as neutral as possible. What was posted, though cited, was clearly promoting one agenda over the other and therefore not accurately reporting the proposition which has both pros and cons. Unless you want a war of words, which will make the article unwieldy, I suggest a simple, neutral summary be used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahavtiyah (talk • contribs) 20:35, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- Looking at it closer, I can see that there is some bias in there. However, I don't think the answer is to delete all of it. Some of it can stay, as the WSJ piece balances the pro side, if some of the con stuff is trimmed. I'll try to do that soon. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:52, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

- Agreed Zepppep. Even though the Tigers won, I guess that somewhere, someone will still think that Valverde's terrible performance somehow makes him deserving of a comparison with Hitler. Muboshgu, I don't think either of us would be surprised if we are putting in more RPP requests in the near future. An aside: Can anyone imagine what Bill Buckner's page would have been like if Wikipedia had existed in 1986? AutomaticStrikeout 05:08, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

- I missed it. The charges of cronyism against the Veterans Committee are valid, and are included on the wiki pages of HOFers George Kelly (baseball), Burleigh Grimes, Dave Bancroft, and others. I am completely opposed to adding any references to Bleacher Report, because it is a blog and not a reliable source. Any reliable sources you can find that speak of Lindstrom can be added to counterbalance existing information. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:54, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
Re: Freddie Lindstrom (again)
How can the croneyism charge in Lindstrom's case be true if Frisch died in 1973 and Lindstrom was inducted in 1976? This claim apparently goes back to Bill James more than 30 years ago with no attribution or evidence except his own opinion. He lumps Lindstrom in with earlier Giant and Cardinal players inducted during Frisch's tenure. The HOF Veterans Committee under Frisch also added players from the Phillies, Indians, Cubs, Boston Braves and Red Sox who are not counted among the croneys. Footnote 31 (Hardball Times, Richard Barbieri) does not mention Lindstrom. Footnotes 32 and 33 (Jay Jaffe, Baseball Prospectus)agrees he has no evidence of Frisch's involvement. Footnote 36 (Clark Booth Dorchester Times) says he wants more players elected, not fewer, and that Lindstrom was a good choice. How much does it take to right an obvious wrong? 74.248.35.47 (talk) 19:58, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

- Good point on Frisch's death. I didn't consider that. However, Bill Terry remained on the committee when Lindstrom was elected, and there were still charges of cronyism related to Lindstrom's election.[4] – Muboshgu (talk) 14:40, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi Muboshgu. Could I trouble you to find who established the trophy. The websites I visited only mention when it was created and who votes for the winner. Re: Freddie Lindstrom (once again)
Reason for the mess on additions to Legacy: I kept screwing up the footnotes back slash. Could you point out where further verifications are needed. Thanks. And thanks for the Dick Young piece. I hope you noticed, though, that Young trashes all 12 members of the "Old Croney Committee," not just Frisch or Terry. As president of the BBWA at the time (1976), he was an outspoken opponent of the committee for diluting the writers' right to name HOF members. They, in turn, came about because the BBWA was so slow to add new entrants. After all, the annual gathering at Cooperstown needed someone to showcase, and 75 percent of the BBWA was about as likely as our present U.S. House of Representatives approving Obamacare. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.248.43.197 (talk) 22:37, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

Andy Barr
Well, you beat me to the punch in creating the article about Andy Barr, but I took the time to do a lot of expanding based on newspaper archives I have access to through Newsbank. I noticed you already nominated the article for DYK. Ordinarily, my five-fold expansion would qualify for DYK, but it won't be DYK eligible a second time. Would you consider adding me as a co-nominator? Acdixon (talk · contribs) 20:03, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Wow. That's quite a lot of detail. I got it past 1,500 characters of prose myself, but most of that content was yours, so clearly you belong on that DYK. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:44, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- It may end up being too much detail, especially if he goes on to have a long legislative career, but for now, it was easy enough to compile that from a couple of hundred articles in the Lexington Herald-Leader. Gives us an idea who this freshman congressman is and where he comes from. Thanks for the add. Acdixon (talk · contribs) 21:05, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- No problem. You increased the article from where it was by, what, 9x? Roughly. If you can think of any other good hooks, please add them. In a few terms, it may be too much detail on the pre-Congressional career. But for now it looks close to GA. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:39, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- I was going to ask you the same thing about hooks. The only thing I could think of was "...that Kentucky Representative-elect Andy Barr began working with a child abuse prevention agency after writing a speech on that subject for then-Governor Ernie Fletcher?" Not sure how interesting that is to other people, but it's the kind of thing you don't really think about happening, I guess. What you've got is also good; how many folks can say they worked for three Congressmen by the time they were 30? I thought about going for GA with this, but as bad as this sounds, I usually like to shepherd articles about dead people so I don't have to update them later! LOL I'm not averse to a run, though, if you think it's worth it. Acdixon (talk · contribs) 22:03, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
