Sir i have followed all rhe guidelines while creating it and a user called simon is repeatedly nomination it for delition under G11 criteria . Last time it was deleted without a discussion on whether to keep it or not . I reimproved and i don't think any violation of WP:Pov is here. ALSO ALL SOurces are third party secondary sources but it seems deleting admin also got confused . This time also the particular user has wrote on the talk page of same admin for delition.what to do? This is like spoiling hard works of others.Heba Aisha (talk) 17:05, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

I don't see a deletion. Was the article title different? --RegentsPark (comment) 17:22, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Yes it was Heba Aisha (talk) 17:41, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

It would help if you told me what that title was. --RegentsPark (comment) 17:43, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Yes it was National Action Plan on Climate Change (India). Usually admins are not aware with a particular topic if they don't have knowledge in that area. And as G11 is speedy delition criteria they deleted without any talk. But, this is a program of Government of India and similar articles exist on wiki example National Solar Mission and i have used 3rd party secondary sources so no issue of WP:POV and conflict of interest. I have recreated it with further improvements and i am worried that it wouldbe deleted too as the same guy have put a message on talk page of same admin regarding that.Heba Aisha (talk) 17:48, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
I'll take a look. Generally, it isn't a good idea to recreate a deleted article under a different name and it is always a good idea to let the deleting admin know that you've recreated it. --RegentsPark (comment) 18:07, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
I have put a message on his talk page...the deliting admin HickoryOughtShirt?4 . BTW I have changed many things like intro and look whole changed.Heba Aisha (talk) 18:11, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
It doesn't look that different to me (the original and the new one). But, the article itself is problematic since it reads more like a publicity brochure on the plan than a content substantial one. You probably want to rewrite it completely using more secondary sources and dropping most of the primary sources you're using. Since the plan was apparently started in 2008, there should be quite a few secondary sources that talk about how successful or not the plan is (assuming the government hasn't forgotten all about it). In its current state, if it survives G11, it will almost certainly be deleted at WP:AFD. --RegentsPark (comment) 18:26, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
ok.....that's y i want a maintenance tag on it rather than deletion. Heba Aisha (talk) 18:30, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Help needed.

Hi RegentsPark, I added some info on Seuna (Yadava) dynasty page and someone removed it without particularly pointing to any specific issue. What was wrong with the content or its reference? Please take a look at this removal. HinduKshatrana (talk) 22:16, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

I have no idea whether your edits are good or why it was removed. Best to discuss it on the talk page and see what happens. Explain why your sources are good and why the content is necessary. If you don't get a response in a few days, you can add it back. If there is a discussion, then, hopefully, there will be consensus. --RegentsPark (comment) 16:04, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi @RegentsPark:, it's been days since anyone has joined the talks on the Seuna (Yadava) dynasty page so I've re-added back the information that was reverted. HinduKshatrana (talk) 10:37, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
I've added the page to my watch list. Let's see what happens. --RegentsPark (comment) 11:54, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Same content

But two articles Satsang (Deoghar) and Satsang Ashram. Wikifulness (talk) 16:33, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

They look a bit different. One appears to be on the philopsophy of the cult and the other on its organizational structure. If you think two articles are not necessary, you should propose a merger.--RegentsPark (comment) 17:45, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

List of Brahmin dynasties and states

Hi sir, Saw your activities and i think you have done what i did if this had been ur subject area. The article had some fake sources and many states included in list had no article on wikipedia so as per WP:WTAF i have done some clean up. It will need time to check whether all other state mentioned are brahman states or not as i m doubtful after seeing the Gupta empire in the list. But i will verify when get time. If you find any issues with my edits plz notify me. Heba Aisha (talk) 03:07, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

Looks like cruft to me. Best course forward, remove everything that is unsourced and wait for the dust to settle! --RegentsPark (comment) 17:47, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

User (Dinesh2069 (talk))

Hello Regents park, the above user is not listening to neither "Admin Bishonen" words nor my words. Take a look at this edit [1]. User is using words like 'beg' for characters like Indra- king of Gods without any sources. He claimed that we were hurting religious sentiments but the user himself is doing that. This violates wikipedia's 'neutral' policy. He also added words like 'great danveer' to elevate a character without proofs or sources. This shows that he is fan of character Karna. This can be called as fan boy vandalism. The most important thing is he is editing in a wrong way even after being warned. I request you to look into this carefully as admin "Bishonen" already gave him final warning. Also please look my latest edit over his talk page and please tell me whether I did correct or not. [2], this user seems to be little rude as you can see his latest edit. [3]. I don't have any personal enimity with him. But he is not editing properly. Admin Bishonen also gave him final warning and asked me to report if he persistently edits in a wrong way even after warning. I already informed her. She told me that she is unaware of religious matters. Hence I'm reporting you so that you would take some action on him. He had record of disruptive editing and vandalism. He was warned for disruption in many articles like Bhima. I checked his talk page as well. Kindly look into this seriously as his editing in talkpage also seems to be rude and vulgar. Thank you and have a nice day. Fire star on heat (talk) 02:23, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

Mughal Maratha Wars

Mughal-Marathas War Where is it written that Raj era sources cannot be used? Removed your vandalism, please desist from vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by A.A Ghatge (talkcontribs) 07:32, 25 October 2020 (UTC) @A.A Ghatge: For historical material, you should only use contemporary academic sources. If you can't find a contemporary source, that usually means that the material is not a conclusion drawn by a historian. historiography is not static, and old sources are not reliable. In particular, raj era sources are suspect because, in most cases, the writers were not historians and were likely using very little data to arrive at their conclusions. Hope this clarifies things. Also, please try to add talk page comments at the bottom of the page and properly sectioned. Note also that labeling good faith edits as vandalism is not a path you want to travel down. Best. --RegentsPark (comment) 21:27, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

Possible 3rr violation by IP?

What are your thoughts on IP editor 73.32.6.120's latest edit-warring spree on page Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram? Is it a possible 3rr violation? If so I will open a thread at WP:AN3 --DL6443 01:29, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

@DL6443: I saw that you mentioned me. Breaking 3RR is when there are more than three reverts (four or more) in a 24 hour time period. The IP has reverted two times in the past 24h, so is not subject to 3RR violation, but you can still report them at WP:ANEW if you believe they have been edit warring. I think they have, they’re not providing any reasoning behind their reverts. Before you report them, know that your actions will be scrutinized as well. Some tips for you are:
  • If you have not warned them yet on their talk page, do it ASAP by adding {{subst:uw-3rr}} to their talk page
  • Also - open a discussion on the article talk page, mentioning them and asking to please stop
  • Keep a close eye on their contributions. If you are on a web browser, just open a new tab to make sure you don’t lose it. If they do anything, keep track of it
The reverts happened around 24 hours ago, so you can’t report them for 3RR unless they make 4 reverts in 24h on a page. I hope this helped! D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 01:56, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
@Doggy54321: Thanks for the info. However, just want to put out there that the reverts occurred less than an hour ago by the same IP mentioned above. And also as a side note, the ping probably happened due to a syntax error that accidentally transcluded the entire AN3 page onto this talk page. --DL6443 02:03, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
@DL6443: ahahahahaa, glad that the syntax error happened 😊😊. Sorry, my pea brain thought the reverts happened 24h ago, my bad. If they revert on that page anytime in the next 24h you can report them. You could also report right now as it is evident that they are edit warring. D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 02:06, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Using political sources

Hi RegentsPark, I hope you're doing great. In one of my previous questions you suggested not to use political sources (CPI in this case) for writing content in Shivaji's page. Recently, I saw a political source being used to describe Hindutva. I wish to know to what extant political sources can be used. Thank you so much for your time. You performed an undo for the deletion of my selected text. Why? I don't want a link to an ruling I also want to know how yourself adhered to the ruling to feel it was justified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SumeetJi (talkcontribs) 20:54, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

@SumeetJi: From what I understood from your edit summary (and talk page comment), you are concerned that the articles do not talk about Sikh genocide. None of the content you removed addresses Sikhs and it is unclear why you removed what appears to be well sourced content.--RegentsPark (comment) 20:58, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

What I removed was text that in summary states the Mughal Empire was an equality driven Empire. There is no evidence from the linked sources reference [19] that is in line with that statement, "it did not vigorously suppress the cultures and people it came to rule; rather, it equalized and placated them through new administrative practices,"

in fact reading the book itself lends the opposite viewpoint, that Mughals were indeed oppressive and not equality driven and that their administrative practices were based on removing Hindus from power. This also invalidated reference [18]. The original Authors viewpoints should be removed for misleading work.

From an simple logical viewpoint and then fact checking by reading the sources provided already, how does an foreign invading genociding empire part of an Islamic Caliphate, not back the statement that they did not "vigorously suppress the cultures" when Jizya an Islamic practice of forcing tax on non-Muslims which was implemented with verifiable sources on the Indian population during Muslim rule, even lend credibility to the statement.

I'm not here to waste your time with useless facts, I'm here to give an unbiased viewpoint on topics that I want to share with to the greater world in truth.

There seems to be an problem with you judging your work. I've been warned for my behaviour and taken corrective action. Have you even done your job correctly in lines with Wikipedia guidelines to look into the source reference to make an unbiassed ruling yourself? Your work is terrible at best and deliberately misleading at worst. - SumeetJi (talk) 21:10, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Replied on the article talk page. --RegentsPark (comment) 21:25, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

There is no reference on page 115 to say that imposition wasn't forced It merely states that cultures were not eliminated or merged. That ruling class stated was an Islamic class that forced rule onto the country in the first place.

Stop being misleading. Stop wasting my time. Stop doing anything counterproductive and fix your work ethics. Your on purpose furthering negative discourse. You are not reading the source, you are not further being productive. SumeetJi (talk) 21:38, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Leaving my last note to yourself here - Regarding user User:RegentsPark - your source of reference to refer to given "Please see page 115 of the Asher source." gives no indication to counter the statement I made that the Mughal Empire imposed their rule on others by force. The relevant page section reads in summary that no elimination of native culture nor merging of culture began during Mughal occupation. Furthermore, if you actually read your own source which I suspect you are deliberately not doing as it would've proved you wrong originally, the following text advises that a nobility class of Muslim rulers of which the Mughal were occupied India, and imposed their rule. Imposing rule is not the same as the original article authors txt "it did not vigorously suppress the cultures and people it came to rule;" because they in fact according to every single source given if your doing your job, did impose their Muslim rule to suppress cultures. Jizya is a major example.

You're doing this on purpose. I refuse to take your further word in point as your are not following Wikipedia's guidelines on following helpful trains of thought. Revert you're undo, or I will do so in an hour from now and also report you for violations of accusations without reason, and will accept my account deletion and all my works history being deleted as protest or judgement and entire career history deleted for it - SumeetJi (talk) 22:04, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Two pages issue

I Created page Netaji Jayanti and another page was made by other as Parakram Diwas. Matter is that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birthday will be observed as Parakram Diwas every year from 2021. So manage it by adding two important parts of Netaji Jayanti (Observances & Issues) to Parakram diwas. Wikifulness (talk) 13:16, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Or both are kept separate? Wikifulness (talk) 13:23, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Or Parakram Diwas merge with Netaji Jayanti. I think this will be better one. Wikifulness (talk) 13:46, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

If they both are for the same celebration, I'd say merge them. Not sure which one should go where but perhaps Netaji Jayanti is the more general? --RegentsPark (comment) 18:08, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Then do it please. Wikifulness (talk) 03:38, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

One thing is possible. Change the title of Netaji Jayanti as Parakram diwas. Copy the infobox & objective of Parakram diwas. Wikifulness (talk) 03:58, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

More correct spelling is Divas, not Diwas Wikifulness (talk) 04:00, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

It has been done. Wikifulness (talk) 09:34, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

Change page title

Kalka Mail is now Netaji Express. It is renamed on 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Wikifulness (talk) 15:46, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

I saw that. We generally retain the old title until the new one becomes a common name. --RegentsPark (comment) 18:33, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

FYI: Ongoing gang of socks and meats

Dear Regents Park,

The Pakistani-origin user "Mar4d" who conspired to get the Operation Ababeel article deleted unscrupulously is a previously banned WP:SOCK of user "Acejet", see this Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Acejet. I have filed a fresh sock puppet investigation against him, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Acejet. Since I noticed that you too have come cross his tricks before (see here), I am letting you know also. https://wbtourism.gov.in/legends_of_bengal Ser it in detail. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 16:28, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

@Abhishek Sengupta: We don't generally use government sites for this sort of information. But, feel free to add it back if you disagree. If someone else removes it, you should look for consensus on the talk page. The other source seems to be a user created web site and is definitely not reliable. --RegentsPark (comment) 16:28, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

That means you are against the Govt record itself. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 16:30, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Ok thanks. Abhishek Sengupta 24 (talk) 16:30, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

@Abhishek Sengupta 24: It isn't a government record but rather a description that cannot be easily checked for accuracy. We don't know, for example, who wrote it or where the information came from. I took a look at the description and it provides britannica as a source but the linked britannica page doesn't mention the "Baidya" (or other) caste. That's why it isn't reliable. But, I don't know much about castes so let's see what happens. --RegentsPark (comment) 16:38, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Aden

I'm glad you reverted me, as my edit was sort of a gateway in the sense that I want to shift the article to show more of what constituted India back then besides what is commonly thought of (the subcontinent plus Myammar), I'd perhaps want to go further with Somaliland and the Trucial states. In regards to Aden it was, by definition, a part of British India, and I do believe it constitutes as a successor state as a result. For one, it was significant enough to warrant its own seperate colony (we wouldn't group Ceylon with the raj) . Its size may not be large, though it was still larger than the contemporary sovereign states of the Marshall Islands and Lichtenstein. Anyways, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Foxhound03 (talk) 21:09, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

I'm not sure. Aden Colony was a small corner of the Aden Protectorate that the British carved out to maintain their sea route to India. I don't have any issue with it being in the body of the article but my concern is that putting it in the infobox gives undue importance to what is really a very tiny entity. Burma is a lot clearer - large, finally became a country, etc. Aden was mostly just the city and the port. --RegentsPark (comment) 21:21, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

•• Perhaps we should get a concensus in the talk page. Until we reach one, I have some proposed changes. The first is that we have a section on the infobox which gives which country the present day former territories lie. My second is to change the lead of the article by putting "primarily on the subcontinent" rather than just "on the subcontinent". Reason being is the large cumulative area of all territories outside of it such as Burma, Aden, the Trucial states, British Somaliland etc. Foxhound03 (talk) 08:21, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Cross-wiki vandalism!

Hi RegentsPark, you reverted edits on Banaphar according to WP:RS . After that, this user went over to Hindi Wikipedia to do the same. He/She is continuously editing the same 4-5 Alha, Udal, Alha-Khand pages in hindi-wiki and is engaged in huge edit war against others and is still doing the same - again and again. I've already lodged a complaint over there, but since no one is responding, I want the help to request a Global Inquiry and ask for global ban on this user. Thanks.HinduKshatrana (talk) 12:28, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

@HinduKshatrana:, I don't know how the global banning process works. Perhaps @Doug Weller, Bishonen, SpacemanSpiff, and Vanamonde93: can help. --RegentsPark (comment) 14:59, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
Users may be globally banned from the English Wikipedia and all other Wikimedia projects, either by the broader Wikimedia community or by the Wikimedia Foundation. In case of the former, English Wikipedia users will be explicitly invited to participate in the Meta-Wiki discussion to ban the user in question. ¬¬¬¬
Meta usually considers global ban requests only when at least two wikis where the user is banned or blocked bring in a complaint. There may be exceptions to this rule, but you may want to see how this plays out on hi.wiki before going to meta. —SpacemanSpiff 15:50, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Requesting to remove the delete request in the page Ajay Gudavarthy

Hello,

I have re-written the page Ajay Gudavarthy. I believe it now meets the wikipedia notability guidelines. I have tried to briefly outline his significant impact in the scholarly disciplines of Indian Political Studies and Indian Political Process, particularly in terms of conceptual engagements in secular sectarianism and right wing populism in India. He also have substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity. (Ashique2020 (talk) 00:23, 1 June 2021 (UTC))

@Ashique2020: I've removed it. But, you do need to make sure that you're not summarizing Gudvarthy's work and that the references are independent of him. A large chunk of the references are his own works and none of those should be there. Interviews are also a problem. I'll take a look after a couple of weeks and try to clean it up but someone else may nominate it for deletion if you don't fix these problems. --RegentsPark (comment) 00:53, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the positive response. I am trying to find more independent sources. As the subject writes extensively in Indian print media as a political commentator, the google news search is giving his own articles. Thats why distinguishing other independent mentions from his own articles became a difficult task. I will try to improve more (Ashique2020 (talk) 01:13, 1 June 2021 (UTC))

Raj era images

Hi, Are we allowed to use images of people belonging to specific castes and tribes in articles on these communities ? I know there was a discussion many years ago on ethnographic images in infobox or galleries but does it also apply to single images? I am more specifically concerned about images taken by Raj era civil servants from the 1800s.Here [6] is an example from the page on Lohana.Thanks.19:17, 1 June 2021 (UTC)Jonathansammy (talk)

I'm not sure what the policy on Raj era images is. Personally, I'm not keen on using them but they seem to be all over the place so I assume that this has been discussed and is acceptable.--RegentsPark (comment) 21:23, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Enquiry

Can I ask why my edits are getting reverted in this page?? I provided reliable references still it gets reverted https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilaf Vishal dd (talk) 17:06, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

@Vishal dd: Unfortunately, the reference you provided is not a reliable source. Rather, it appears to be a merchandising site. Regardless, please also read WP:BRD and try to use article talk pages (you appear to have never used them). I've reverted you again. --RegentsPark (comment) 19:05, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
I note that you've changed the cite to sahapedia.com, which appears to be a site with user generated content. That's not a WP:RS either. --RegentsPark (comment) 19:07, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

What kind of source must I provide to not conflict with the terms and conditions?? I am new to this situation, I need some help Vishal dd (talk) 19:18, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

@Vishal dd: A reliable source for a food would probably need to satisfy a couple of conditions. First, you need to see the source itself (e.g., a reliable newspaper such as the Guardian, Washington Post, The Hindu). Second, the writer who should be a food historian of some sort (informal historian would probably be ok for food but there should be something that corroborates the reliability of the writer). You could, and should, post your edit as well as the sources on the article talk page and see if you can get consensus for adding it to the article. Please do read WP:V and WP:RS. --RegentsPark (comment) 20:41, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

I'm not familiar with scroll.in. @Kautilya3 and Arjayay:--RegentsPark (comment) 21:21, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
WP:NEWSORGs are only reliable for news, not history. If the author is a recognised historian, then it can fly, not othewrise.-- (talk) 07:41, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
I've come across it a couple of times, but learnt far more by reading Scroll.in. It is used about 4,500 times on En.Wikipedia, about 3,500 of which uses are in articles.
It only appears in 3 archives at WP:RSN, the longest discussion was here and the most relevant here, which includes "Preference should be given to scholarly sources over news publications which are generally less reliable on history and can reproduce popular misconceptions." I concur with this opinion and with Kautilya3's comments above. - Arjayay (talk) 08:57, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Kautilya3 and Arjayay. @Vishal dd:, hope you've got an answer to your question. --RegentsPark (comment) 20:40, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
