Help me![edit]

Please help me with...

Uploading a picture of an individual's coat of arms.

Most articles about members of various Noble or Royal families feature an illustration of that person's coat of arms. How, precisely, should I go about uploading a file for this purpose (the Fair Use forms only reference portraits of an individual, and coats of arms for organizations, so I am unsure which I should use.

I rather doubt we could claim fair use for a coat of arms. The eighth criterion at WP:NFCC says: "Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding." I can't imagine that the presence of a coat of arms would significantly increase our understanding of the person in question, and if it's a modern coat of arms it doesn't serve as a primary means of visual identification, unlike both company logos and medieval coats of arms. Speaking of which, old coats of arms such as that of James II of England are in the public domain, which means we do not have to bother with fair use at all.
