Lord Reed[edit]

Hi Robin. There is no convention which states that a peer must have their announcement in the Gazette before they can be known under their title, nor a Wikipedia guidelines stating so. As evidenced, his seat in the House of Lords began on 11 January. If you wish to further dispute this, please discuss it on the talk page.--Tærkast (Discuss) 16:44, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Blatant Advertising Content[edit]

In June 2017, your account added blatant advertising content to the page List of brutalist apartment blocks in Sheffield, in the form of repetitive and poorly formatted paragraphs about the cladding, with repetitive and unnecessary reference to the company that supposedly completed the work on the cladding. While information about the cladding, in the aftermath of the Grenfell disaster, is probably of note, it certainly shouldn't be presented in such a manner. If this was you, then you should have disclosed COI, as per WP:COI, and you should not have added the content directly. In addition, seeing as this is a UK company, on a UK relevant article, it will also fall under the ASA regulations, which it violates - as it must be clearly identified as a marketing communication (and therefore not present on Wikipedia in the first place).

If this was not you, then your account was compromised during this time, and you should (if you have not done so already) take measures to address this.

Direwolf202 (talk) 18:31, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yesterday, after I posted my previous comment, you changed the supposed author of one of the images on the aforementioned article — one specifically relating to the cladding. From yourself to “Simon E. Taylor”. You’re an experienced editor, so we should be able to resolve this in a civil manner — in order to do that, you need to engage with my attempt to discuss this issue. Notice

The file File:Dissolved Welsh Assembly.gif has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Lord Patel of Blackburn 2011.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Infobox COA[edit]

There are problems with template Infobox COA:

  • Arms relate to families not to titles; No such thing as "arms of Baron XYZ". Better to say "arms of Grey, Baron XYZ", or better still just "arms of Grey". Armigerous gentry who become ennobled use their old arms. When a noble family loses its title, it continues to use the family's arms. (i.e. present Berkeley family of Berkeley Castle, just plain Mr Berkeley now, the earldoms, baronies and viscountcy all gone, still use the arms of the Berkeley family). Many ancient titles, e.g. Baron Clinton, which can pass via female lines, held successively by different families, all with different arms. Same for Baron Berkeley, present holder is not a Berkeley, does not use Berkeley arms.
  • Blazons should not be given with random words with capital initial letters, for example tinctures. Tinctures do not need to be given with capital initial letters. Only the first word of the entire blazon should have an initial capital. The grammar of blazoning is well defined, punctuation and random capitals are incorrect. One comma after the field is all that is required.
  • Perhaps most importantly, by relegating matters concerning heraldry to a self-imposed ghetto at the bottom of articles demotes the status of heraldry in WP articles. I like to see images of arms at the top, not at the bottom, integrated fully into the article. The caption box can contain all heraldic information.

The Arms of some of the the Lords Chancellor[edit]

Hello, I hope you are well

I noticed that are some gaps in the Armorial of the Lord Chancellors, some of the more recent ones (Lord Irvine and Lord Falconer, for example), are not armigerous.

However there are some more 20th century examples who are.

Lord Sankey, Lord Chancellor 1929-1935, bore the following arms:

Gules a fess Ermine between in chief two martlets and in base a salmon Or.

Crest: In front of a dexter cubit arm vested Gules cuffed Ermine the hand grasping by the beam a pair of scales Proper a martlet as in the arms.

Supporters:On either side a lion Sable gorged with a collar Or suspended therefrom on the dexter an escutcheon Azure charged with a Paschal lamb Gold and on the sinister an escutcheon Vert charged with a stag trippant also Gold.

Source:Debrett's Peerage. 1936.

George Cave, 1st Viscount Cave, Lord Chancellor 1922-1924 bore:

Or fretty Azure a cross moline within a bordure nebuly Gules on a chief of the last two greyhounds' heads erased of the first.

Crest:A greyhound sejant Or pellettée, resting the dexter leg on a cross moline Gules.

Motto:Cave Deus Videt (Latin: Beware God Sees)

Hi Robin. I was just wondering whether you might be able to find a WP:NFCC compliant photo of the late Baroness Pike, for her article's infobox? All the best, ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 23:21, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sadly I doubt I'll find much as she died in 2004 and Parliament Live's archives only go back to 2007. Robin S. Taylor (talk) 23:38, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Infoboxes[edit]

Let's just leave well enough alone when it comes to unbulleted lists in infoboxes and not replace them with comma lists and keep common names only and not use just surnames. Alex (talk) 18:35, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Armorial of Speakers of the Canadian House of Commons has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence that this would be a notable subject, and not just a trivial intersection of attributes. Their armorial (assuming at least some of them have it) has no bearing on their role as speaker, or presumably vice versa.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Notice

The article Armorial of Chancellors of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence that this combination is a notable subject. People have armorials, and people fulfill a role, but neither has a bearing on the other. The armorials belong with the people (or their family), not with the role they play.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Notice

The article Armorial of Lord High Chancellors of Great Britain has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication why this would be a notable subject. People have armorials (or not), and people are Lord High Chancellor; but these two characteristics have no relation to each other.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Notice

The article Armorial of Chancellors of the Exchequer of Great Britain has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:N and some other guidelines and policies, like being a trivial intersection of characteristics, and a gallery. People have a personal (or family) coat of arms, and are chancellor: neither has a bearing on the other, the combination doesn't provide any additional information or insight.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
