"Life barons" category

Hello.

Please don't re-populate Category:Life barons created by George VI. There is no such thing as a life baron. All life peers are created barons; there are no "life viscounts", "life earls", "life marquesses", or "life dukes".

I have re-categorized the articles to Category:Life peers created by George VI.

Well, there were. There aren't anymore, see life peer. Just as there are separate categories for peers created by the same monarch but in different jurisdictions – see for instance Category:Peers created by Queen Victoria, which is divided into two subcategories (one for Ireland and one for the United Kingdom), there is no diffusion into the only possible subcategory of Category:Peers created by Edward VII (and subsequent monarchs), namely that for the United Kingdom.

I.e., all peers created from Edward VII onwards are created in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. Similarly, it is pointless to have a subcat to Category:Life peers created by George VI that is named Category:Life barons created by George VI, when all life peers are created barons.

The roll does use the term life baron, but that is not a reason to introduce a single subcat, and, as I say, there are no "life viscounts", "life earls", "life marquesses", or "life dukes". HandsomeFella (talk) 23:14, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Howdy. Why do you keep insisting on using 1603, rather then 1707? The British monarchy came into existence in the latter year. That's why we have List of English monarchs & List of Scottish monarchs, ending in 1707 & List of British monarchs, starting in 1707. GoodDay (talk) 19:42, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

In terms of the legal institution 1707 is the correct year, but 1603 is more relevant if we're discussing the royal family (as opposed to parliament), since that's when the lines of succession came to merge. Pre-1603 there were two separate royal families and it would be a bit confusing to switch back and forth within the same section, but post-1603 they can be lumped together. Robin S. Thanks for reply - only just seen. The hand holding wheat has already been expertly drawn by the engravers (Kindersley) and I have their original drawing. Might upload at some point but doubt it.
