I edited it last night putting on a link on a book she organised Made by Indians, he seems to not like it. You seems the credible editor in all this. I checked the book and it exists, so I do not know what the problem is. I also corrected the name Bel Air FF, as it was written Belle Air, I looked that up too. There is more on the subject, but obviously it is subject to continual vandalism? Should there be a lock on it? I see you can do this. As with other film makers should the awards be in boxes? It's quite clearly not a speedy deletion candidate, but when you add information about things she's done, you need to cite them to secondary sources, rather than directly to the things themselves e.g. you added a sentence about a book of hers, but cited to the book itself. I'd suggest you (re)write it by making a copy to your 'sandbox' then you can check to see whether any wiki markup/inline citations etc. work correctly. As a woman I find it kind of sad that I have to defend the notability of an accomplished, widely published, critically acclaimed, prize-winning poet like Terese Coe, when Kim Kardashian is in there because of her ass...but I do understand the need for documentation.

As for your other comments, well yes, I have to agree, it's often easier to find floods of coverage about celebrities than more serious topics. Apart from the Product Innovation section, which I agree does not take an entirely neutral tone, would the rest of the sections be considered advertorial? If the entire Product Innovation section is removed, would the draft then be more objective? As for the references, there are supporting articles from neutral newspaper, just that these articles are archived in the respective news sites and are not retrievable. Thus the only source would be from the PDF of the original news clipping. Perhaps you could advise on this?

How to add press texts to a draft

Hello!

Thanks for your Feedback on Harmen Vanhoorne! You told me to add news coverage on him and so I searched for press texts. I found some in brass magazines all over the world, but these are scans (PDF's) from the magazine. They are not free but I suppose it's fair usage to use them. The problem is I can't upload them into a Draft. Only in an already published page it seems.. How should I proceed in this case..?

Well, no, not until you've written a Wikipedia article to prove Hamblin is notable enough. Otherwise someone will surely remove his name again. I had a look online for news articles or expert reviews of his work and could only find one (lengthy) news article about his experiences of growing up transgender. I'm not 100% sure I understand you, but to pipe a wikilink to a differently named article you'd separate them by a vertical bar e.g. [[Department of Employment (Australia)|Australian Department of Employment]] gives you Australian Department of Employment

I cannot support your judgment in the redirect. This is a stub about a major architectural practice in Manchester that needs massive expansion. Instead the text is added to a person of dubious notability. To prove notability you need to prove the companies notability- by expanding the original article. Can I suggest you say oops- and revert these unhelpful changes. The next stage will be compiling a list of the companies works- and searching the trade directories in Manchester Central library and the local history collections in and and around Oldham. -- Clem Rutter (talk) 22:17, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

The article was clearly about Dixon and cited only to a biography page about Dixon. It looks like he was a sole practitioner until his son joined the company in 1906. Discussion regarding the Nomination of Michel Mimran for deletion

Hi,

I see that you asked for the deletion of the page, and I’m surprised by this. I can’t see why you’d ask to delete an article which is part of contemporary art. Wikipedia requires sources for every claim made, and I believe those were provided for the page of Michel Mimran. Of course, the perception regarding the « quality » of the sources differs from person to person. You are asking for « evidence » of success, and I believe that a Diploma of the prestigious Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts of Paris, (FYI : he had the diploma n°3000 in 1976, for an institution that has existed for several centuries) along with notable exhibitions fit in that category. The Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts of Paris hasn’t scanned the works of its former students, hence why no links could be attached to the article. Tangible proofs, such as Beaux-Arts and Architecture diplomas, are in paper form.

You may also not be aware that the CAL (Cercle artistique du Luxembourg), which is also cited in the references, is the official art institution/academy in Luxembourg. To be part of the CAL, is also an « evidence » of success. Not every artist can be part of it : it requires to pass the selection and have had three successful exhibitions for 3 years in a row. Michel Mimran is also one of the only foreign members of the CAL. You can see it here : http://cal.lu/galerie.php

If by « evidence » of success, you’re are referring to the lack of art galleries mentioned, here’s the reason : Michel Mimran has enough private art collectors and welcomes his clients in his atelier in Luxembourg. He’s still working on the field of memory in art and still produces artwors, if you’re intenterested, I’d gladly send you pictures of his latest works.

The news coverages, mostly come from RTL channel in Luxembourg (part of RTL group, Europe's leading entertainment company) (Links n° 6 & n°7) I am sorry it seems confusing to you, but these are part of the Luxemburgish press. I’ll update some links as I’ve seen one or two have changed since the creation of the page. The only trouble with having to select « online links » is the fact that they don’t always remain active and online. I have however plenty of tangible sources /news paper articles, diplomas, press coverages, that are not available online.

I wish you did contact me to express your opinions first, rather than immediately upload a wikipedia page deletion. Wikipedia also stands for freedom of expression. This page has been written after a lot of researches, I see that you have two University degrees. So do I, in Literature and History/Political science. I speak 4 languages, and I have multiple interests, -contemporary art is one of them. This article is not a fancruft, it’s a biography about a French contemporary artist and architect. I have left countless informations aside, because I’m aware of Wikipedia’s source policy, (just to name one : As an artist, Michel Mimran was asked to be a member of the Association des Trophées francophones, but this sort of information is not published online obviously) Michel Mimran is part of the contemporary culture scene, and none of the material used is unsourced and potentially libelous and harmful.

Wikipedia is one of the largest general reference work. Since anyone can access and edit the website, it’s also the opportunity for people from all around the world to share their knowledge. We can always learn someting new. You may/or may not be aware of the work of Michel Mimran, but this is also what Wikipedia is for : to gather knowledge from all over the world and make it accessible to the majority of people.

Nevertheless I’m very glad to see the interest you’re showing in this artist, and if you’d like to have a look at the artist’s work, you’re more than welcome to give me an email and I’ll transfer it to the artist, who will send you pictures of his latest artworks.

Hi Think88, I see someone has replied to your lengthy comment, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michel Mimran. As they say, subjects in Wikipedia need to be widely known and/or important. It is not sufficient just to exist.
If you know of newspaper/magazine/book sources about Mimran please add them to the article reference list. They do not need to be online, but they do need to be published (not private archives, certificates or letters). See WP:CITEHOW for the sort of information you need to provide for offline sources. You need to take a look at Wikipedia's notability criteria and 'golden rule' - subjects need multiple significant coverage in reliable independent sources (i.e. newspapers, magazines, books etc.). Your new article suffered all the same problems of the old, deleted article (cited to brief mentions, articles about the company MP & Silva, random websites). About Christopher Wood (Scottish painter)

Hi Sionk. I'm confused. From what I can Google up, there appears to be two Scottish painters born 1962 of this name, one a landscape watercolorist, the other a color field artist. Or perhaps they are the same person, painting in two different ways. Both artists - or perhaps the same artist - get substantial Google-hits including art dealer and auction websites. Try "Christopher Wood" + RSW". ("RSW" is of course the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour.) Would it perhaps be better if the article was considered under WP:AfD instead of WP:CSD#A7? I agree, it's confusing. According to Wood's own website he was born in Leeds and has received a number of awards (of what importance I don't know). Unusually the Wikipedia article seems to under-sell this painter. Hits on gallery and auction sites don't count towards his notability but, if the awards/elected memberships had been listed, I probably wouldn't have speedied it. Choc Covered Fried Rolls

The site you mentioned has been modified after several attempted edits (it will remain the same forever!). Any link to Persian history is erased. I believe it is public relations, and should be modified, or at least allowed historical clarification. The history of this roll did not start in Thunder Bay. The roll was modified there, but the real roll comes from Persia: while (arguably) the Thunder Bay creation did head south, it is consistently recreated (in one form or another) all across North America. The chocolate covered one has the biggest following. The hours of research that went into my two paragraphs should be allowed; if nothing else, as a sidebar to the Thunder Bay advertisement. Sionk, we have been working simultaneously on Frank Roper; you just pipped me at the post! I made a couple of edits to your text before I realised that you had only just posted it. My working draft is in User:Verbcatcher/sandbox.

One of my starting points was User:Michaelm70, where another editor posted an apparently completed article in 2009. I checked with the Help desk and was advised that it was ok to use this material if it was properly attributed. However, I don't think we should use it without rechecking its sources.

Commons has a good picture of Roper's sculpture in Llandaff Cathedral Lady Chapel (File:Llandaff Cathedral (7961850714).jpg), but I suspect a copyright violation and would avoid it.

If you're in Llandaff with a camera please try to get a photograph of the sculpture on the west wall of St. Michael's College chapel, similar to this. If it's in a public place or in premises open to the public then it would qualify for freedom of panaroma.

Yep, I'm aware of the sources above, but I was trying to source as much as possible from books and news articles (such as the obit) to try and find out what work was widely known, rather than list everything that exists. My intention was to fill in a redlink on another article and it turns out he is a fascinating artist. the article was on a man called shafeeq al-mahdi he works as the head of the arts and crafts department in the iraqi ministry of cultures i know there are no english resources about him but the pages in arabic are all i could find and one of the pages is a government official page of the iraqi ministry of cultures so it should be reliable


and i do work in the ministry it self that's why i write these articles and i know most of the people there and i was willing to write and translate more pages in the arabic and english wikis

Barry Docks

I just undid the edit you made to Barry Docks for two reasons. First, a brief description of construction of the railway and viaduct seems entirely relevant since they were built to serve the docks. A picture of the viaduct is included in the article, and deserves an explanation. Second, the edit did not just delete a sentence, but deleted the citation for the previous sentence, which covered both. It left the assertion "The Porthkerry viaduct was built for the Vale of Glamorgan Railway (VoGR), and still stands." without any source. We could discuss it on the article talk page if you want.

But you were right to replace "[[Porthkerry Park|Porthkerry]] viaduct" by "[[Porthkerry Viaduct]]", and I am restoring that. Aymatth2 (talk) 00:36, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

John Winterson Richards

Sionk, as Bubothe owl, I put up the original article on John Winterson Richards. I am not related to him nor have I ever been employed by him. I am familiar with him mainly through his work as a writer.

Just to be clear, I posted the article principally on his notability as a writer. His past political involvement is of secondary importance. It would have been wrong not to mention it but it is not the primary basis of his notability these days.

You are quite right that election as a councillor is not enough on its own to constitute notability – although it could be argued that as a past parliamentary candidate, a past leader of the opposition in a capital city, and a contributor to local government reform, he was not just another councillor, that is not why people look him up today. I note the page has a fairly steady stream of visitors.

Most of the hard data, including the full name and occupation of his mother, comes directly from the ‘Welsh Hustings’ book, edited by Ivor Thomas Rees, already mentioned in the footnotes. I did not think it necessary to include yet another footnote whenever a fact from that book is used. There are many other facts about him in that book but it seemed excessive to mention them all. Simply being a writer is not a claim to notability. You would need to demonstrate that at least one of his books is widely known, or recognised as importan, for example. Being only a local politician clearly doesn't meet WP:POLITICIAN notability criteria either. Hi Sionk, you might want to check out the title page of 'Xenophobe's Guide to the Welsh.' You will note that it has been in print for 20 years and has gone through a large number of reprintings. Since you appear to be Cardiff-based, you should be able to get a copy from your local library. The book Bubothe owl mentions is probably there too. Among other things, it should make it clear that, as Bubothe owl's original post says, being the Leader of the Opposition on the old City Council is a different thing from being the only Conservative on the new County Council. The Conservatives were the opposition on the former but the Liberal Democrats took over as the official opposition on the latter. Not wishing to start an edit war, I will not revert your reversion until you have had a couple of days to check the primary sources - having done so, you might decide to undo it yourself. Infrastructure

Yea, there is some blurring. All infrastructure should be either a building or a structure. Take a water tower, it is a building and physical infrastructure. A dam will be a structure and generally physical infrastructure. But a theater may be part of the infrastructure and a building but not physical infrastructure. It all goes back to the main articles on what things are and they are sometimes not clear. Also, articles and subcategories may well not be a part on only one tree, depending on the subject and content. If clarification is needed, the most likely place to start is the redirect of physical infrastructure to Public capital since that is where this should be sorted out and using an article on capital to help, is not very useful for buildings and structures, but it is all we have a this point. That makes absolutely no sense to me at all. I don't see why Physical infrastructure redirects to Public capital when the term isn't used anywhere in the article. If the Category:Physical infrastructure is for Public capital is should be called Category:Public capital or Category:Public assets or Category:Government infrastructure. I did not say it makes sense. I just pointed out the problem with lack of specific articles for the general topics in this area. So if you are qualified, you can write a new article. Redirecting the redirect would make more sense! But in that case it would make sense to upmerge the Category:Physical infrastructure contents to Category:Infrastructure and move the computing categories to a suitable computing tree (I think they're using the term infrastructure to mean something different and, at the end of the day, there's no article called Computing infrastructure). I think the general subject has legs (or paws??), as well as the Daily Mail article about the "Paws in Prison" charity, there's a 2001 general article in the UK's Guardian. I'm not entirely sure what the title of the article should be. The academic paper talks about "prison pups" while the Guardian article talks about "pets in prison".
In fact, there is an article which covers this subject, Animal-assisted therapy, and in my view it would be a better idea to add a sourced section there. Sionk (talk) 16:07, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Pretty sure it is looking across the lock gate at the end of the dry dock next to what is now the Doctore Who Experience. The red brick tower'd building in the distance is still there, dwarfed by yuppy flats. The big curved roof shed is Techniquest. You can see the terrace of houses of Windsor Explanade far left and I presume the red brick building on the far right is the Industrial and Maritime Museum. Sionk (talk) 16:29, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

I am really hoping to fix what is wrong and make my article as informational as possible for it to one day be approved. As a new user to Wikipedia, I am still very much learning the "best practices." If you have the time, could you be more specific and let me know how I can best fix my article? It seems to be issues with sources but I am unsure where/how to add more citations. Should they be in text (which I thought were only for Wikilinks)? Or in an external links section? Should I get rid of the information about the recognitions the firm has received to ensure that nothing sounds promotional at all? I've already also found newspaper sources to help but I am also not even sure where to put those. As I do more research on this matter, any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. General newspaper sources will be particularly handy. Industry-specific websites and publications are less useful. The idea is to prove the company is widely known or important, using reliable secondary sources (rather than things written or published by the company).
Listing all the company's key personnel, or writing at great length about their building, is probably not what you need to concentrate on. We need to know the company's notable achievements. Are there any books written about this long established company?
When you list the sources, you need to describe them as fully as possible e.g. author, article title, publication, date etc. WP:CITEHOW has some useful tips. Sionk (talk) 22:52, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

New Music in the South West

Dear Sionk

Re. the article on New Music in the South West. This is my first Wikipedia article, so I am very happy to receive corrections and challenges. I also understand that proper references are important, but articles on contemporary classical music are extremely rare in the mainstream press which is why there are not many secondary references.

Although it has only been around for a few years, NMSW is now, I believe, the most important contemporary music/education organisation in the south-west of England. In the last year it has given 50-odd 6th-form composers the opportunity to have their music performed and recorded by professional musicians (I know this because I am one of them). It has held some of the biggest new music concerts the region has seen in recent years and it has commissioned/premiered major new works by some of the most important composers in the UK. They are funded by Arts Council England.

I accept that, as a beneficiary, I have a personal interest in NMSW but I have tried to be objective and have only given factual information. I have also tried my best to follow the Wikipedia guidelines in creating this article.

I am sure that in the coming months more articles will appear in the press about NMSW and I will add these as I find them. Michael W Chance (talk) 21:36, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Chalda Maloff multiple issues

I thought by adding secondary sources and clearing up insufficient inline citations as suggested it would correct the article but now I see your latest issue of being too close of a connection to the subject.
