January 2017[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Kyabje Rinpoche has been reverted.
Your edit here to Kyabje Rinpoche was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuKJ4huZNJM, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80Pz82soKms) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 07:17, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kyabje Rinpoche requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://tibetanbuddhistinstitute.org/biography. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:11, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

January 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Kyabje Rinpoche. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Hi

Im unclear what this refers to or if I need to take action.

Any clues appreciated.

--Sjcwill (talk) 02:08, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sjcwill: Other editors have noticed that the text you used in the article you created was directly copied and pasted from other websites, where the content was copyrighted. You are not allowed to do this. --Drm310 (talk) 04:55, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

In this talk section above Diannaa (editor) originally raised this and I have followed the protocol to place the appropriate copyright notice on our website to 'donate' the text and pictures to Wikipedia along the lines of the copyleft principle. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Donating_copyrighted_materials

Therefore it should no longer be a violation of the policy.

http://tibetanbuddhistinstitute.org/biography/ "Wikipedia notice: The text of this webpage is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License and the GNU Free Documentation License (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts)."

Hopefully this is as per the guidelines.

Kind regards Sjcwill (talk) 05:11, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

On Kyabje Rinpoche, the speedy deletion tag was removed by the admin DGG, so the article is no longer at risk of immediate deletion. However, he did place the {{copypaste}} tag in its place, with the edit summary "needs check, but not simple copyvio (and some may be reverse copyvio)". You subsequently removed the tag without explanation; you should not do this until the editor's concerns have been addressed. Maintenance tags are not badges of shame. --Drm310 (talk) 15:17, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There is no need to replace the notice, but what you must do is indicate the portions you have quoted from the website with quotation marks and a reference to the web page. DGG ( talk ) 17:45, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 06:35, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Paraphrased text and also Added creative commons notice to jamgon.org/ebook Removed external links to youtube in article Please clarify if the changes made and Jamgon copyright notice is what was required. I understood this was sufficient to remove the maintenance notice above Sjcwill (talk) 06:53, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Kyabje Rinpoche, without resolving the problem that the template refers to. This may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 21:58, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My understanding is that I had resolved the issues as per edit notes and the tag regarding http://jamgon.org/ebook/ should now be removed I made several edits to shorten the article, removed links, and addressed the copyright issues as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Donating_copyrighted_materials the webpage http://jamgon.org/ebook/ has had the appropriate wikipedia suggested creative commons notice placed on it Please be clear about what you believe has not be addressed.

Sjcwill (talk) 22:56, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The copyright tag wasn't the only one you removed, and the other issues seem relevant enough to me. On an unrelated note, the copy-pasted content was inappropriate for Wikipedia for reasons beyond copyright; I've commented on the article's talk page. Huon (talk) 01:56, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
