Recruitment for Wikipedian Interview

Hello Victor Lopes,

We’d like to invite you to participate in a study that aims to explore how WikiProject members coordinate activities of distributed group members to complete project goals. We are specifically seeking to talk to people who have been active in at least one WikiProject in their time in Wikipedia. Compensation will be provided to each participant in the form of a $10 Amazon gift card.

The purpose of this study is to better understanding the coordination practices of Wikipedians active within WikiProjects, and to explore the potential for tool-mediated coordination to improve those practices. Interviews will be semi-structured, and should last between 45-60 minutes. If you decide to participate, we will schedule an appointment for the online chat session. During the appointment you will be asked some basic questions about your experience interacting in WikiProjects, how that process has worked for you in the past and what ideas you might have to improve the future.

You must be over 18 years old, speak English, and you must currently be or have been at one time an active member of a WikiProject. The interview can be conducted over an audio chatting channel such as Skype or Google Hangouts, or via an instant messaging client. If you have questions about the research or are interested in participating, please contact Michael Gilbert at (206) 354-3741 or by email at mdg@uw.edu.

We cannot guarantee the confidentiality of information sent by email.

Infobox Improvement

Hello! Can I request for you to include an "Education" parameter to Sophie Hunter's infobox. Her school, St. Paul's Girls' School is a notable educational institution in the UK. I hope you can fulfill my request. Thank you very much! And keep up the good work here on Wiki. 109.161.219.248 (talk) 07:09, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Regarding your comment at WP:VPR

Hi Victor, thanks for participating in the RfC. I don't read Portuguese; can you give me a link to the discussion that allowed rollbackers on the Portuguese Wikipedia to block some vandals? Did the community decide to do that because they didn't have enough admins to do the work? - Dank (push to talk) 15:13, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

FAC comment

Hey Victor, how's going? I've noticed your name once in a while in the edit history of some heavy metal articles, so if you have experience with the FA review, please take a look at Master of Puppets, a candidate of mine. The review page is here, so feel free to leave a suggestion or vote.--Retrohead (talk) 11:29, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

Re: Userpage protection

Hello, I noticed you keep a count of times your user page has been vandalized. I can semi-protect your user page to prevent that from happening. If you want the page protected, message me or ping me below.– Gilliam (talk) 04:39, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for offering your help, Gilliam. How long would such protection last? Victão Lopes Fala! 05:37, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Userpage protection due to vandalism is almost always applied indef. However, I can set it at any length of time you want.– Gilliam (talk) 05:39, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Gilliam Will this protection cover my user page only, so that my talk page is still available for anyone to contact me? Victão Lopes Fala! 15:20, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
User talk pages aren't indef protected, but may be protected temporarily if needed. Details of the protection policy may be found here.– Gilliam (talk) 18:48, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Gilliam Then I accept having my user page (but not the talk page) indefinitely semi-protected. Victão Lopes Fala! 20:11, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Portugese question

Hi, Victor! I notice pt:Categoria:Distritos_escolares_dos_Estados_Unidos. I would like to make Portuguese categories for:

  • "School districts in Florida"
  • "School districts in New Jersey"
  • "School districts in Massachusetts"

What should the Portuguese names be? Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 18:36, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank you :) WhisperToMe (talk) 18:47, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Maracaju, Mato Grosso

Gustavo Siqueira msg 23:02, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Eu me adiantei e fui movendo e marcando página para eliminação hahaha, com certeza algum sysop virá me procurar, daí eu falo com ele e explico a situação ;). Gustavo Siqueira msg 23:26, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

AWB typofixing

Hi! I have made a list of articles that contain (possible) typos that can be fixed with AWB. Would you like to check some of them? The Quixotic Potato (talk) 01:55, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Possible useful sources for Brazilian music?

Hello Victor Lopes! I've compiling useful resources for new members to use. I was wondering if you know sources that could useful for Brazilian music as I do not speak Portuguese and not very familiar with the Brazilian music market. I've already added ABPD and Billboard Brasil for the charts and certifications and a music award. But I do not know of any other sources that could help users with Brazilian music. If you know any sources (can be anything such as online reviews or general information), could you add them to the resources page? Thanks! Erick (talk) 02:14, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

I was thinking under the Misc. section. If there's a lot, then maybe a subsection under the Misc. section? Erick (talk) 03:40, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much! I appreciate it! Erick (talk) 12:43, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

Unlocking The Truth

Dude, "Unlocking The Truth" ARENT thrash metal. Theyre just some cheap metalcore stuff. Its just disgracing for the whole thrash metal genre. I see not a single thrash metal influrence in the music of "Unlocking The Truth". So please do me a favor and change genre to metalcore. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.182.223.70 (talk) 19:48, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Can you translate this?

Hi Victor! You're listed on WP:Translators available. Would you be able to translate the lead (only five paragraphs!) of South American dreadnought race into Portuguese for that Wikipedia? It's an important article in modern Brazilian political history, and no one's gotten to it in the three years it has been online.

Related tangent: if you haven't tried the content translation beta feature, it makes translating much easier. Thank you! Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 01:59, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
