ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, WikiVirusC. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: The Michael Brooks Show

Hello WikiVirusC. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of The Michael Brooks Show, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: notable host indicates significance. Thank you. SoWhy 17:43, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

@SoWhy: I wouldn't consider the host notable either, at least not based on the recently created wikipage. You say he would be considered notable on his own just from his web/podcasts he has done? Thanks. WikiVirusC(talk) 17:52, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Cameron Britton sources

Hi! I started a page for actor Cameron Britton a few days ago, and the verification template is still up. Isnt an interview with the actor a reliable enough source?

@Henningrostad: Yes, the source is enough to remove the unreferenced tag. Typically once the tagged issue is fix you can remove the tag at same time. As the article is a biography of a living person it would be best to add more sources, preferably secondary sources. WikiVirusC(talk) 23:49, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion Contest

Can you proffer ways I can improve the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kolapoimam (talkcontribs) 17:12, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

The articles subject matter needs to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. The conditions from either WP:GNG or WP:MUSICBIO WP:BIO need to be meet. Also please add new sections on talk pages to the bottom, of the page, and sign your comments by typing "~~~~ at the end of it. WikiVirusC(talk) 17:24, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

"Threatening" English advice

If you were to threaten me, you'd be a potential threat. Same if I threatened you or Cruz threatened students. In another sense, everyone and everything has that potential, but completely interchangeable in this sense. So no worries about changing it, though you shouldn't have worried about it in the first place, either. Capisce? InedibleHulk (talk) 01:01, February 15, 2018 (UTC)

I understand what you are saying. I was changing it to show Cruz actually threaten students, not that the faculty simply thought he was a threat. WikiVirusC(talk) 01:42, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

In the process

Don't worry about the phone number, I'm on the revdel channel. Admin eyes should pick it up soon. Mr rnddude (talk) 01:14, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

Thanks, I reported it to ANI, but just realized I should of gone to IRC or email. WikiVirusC(talk) 01:16, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
It's ok. I noticed the revdels on my TP. I only found out about yours through contribs. Mr rnddude (talk) 01:18, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

please slow down

Hi WikiVirusC Sorry, but moving the page Art + Feminism Edit-a-thon while leaving a redirect to the wrong location Meetup/ArtAndFeminism/Art + Feminism Edit-a-thon and then requesting a db-rediruser was all completely unnecessary. The page was in Special:NewPagesFeed and two people were dealing with it before you made those changes. You're not a new page reviewer or page mover, so while you're making an effort to contribute positively, you're actually making more work for others. Please slow down, learn about WP:NPP and apply for the user rights when you've gained the required experience. Thanks, Mduvekot (talk) 20:24, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

I am not sure how just leaving it in the mainspace makes any sense, I was gonna either move it to the article creators userspace, or to a location I found fit. I did not intend to move it twice, and only moved a second time based on your suggestion. I guess I could have ignored your suggestion and left it where it was but having a redirect from meetup/artandfeminism is perfectly fine. The only "more work for others", is the speedy deletion for that mainspace page, which I don't even classify as extra work because if I left it alone someone else would still have to move w/o leaving a redirect, which is still just one action. There is no policy against being WP:BOLD and doing something yourself. And whether someone has new page reviewer or (advance) page move rights, does not prevent or suggest any user from moving a page out of wrong space to the correct one. WikiVirusC(talk) 20:44, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
I could have moved it without leaving a redirect because I have the page mover right, after consulting with the editor who (mistakenly, but in good faith, as it turns out) created the page. Now you need an admin to remove the redirects you left behind and the poor person who started the page would not have known where to find it without those redirects. That's too bitey for my taste. Mduvekot (talk) 20:54, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Yes the article creator could have just put it in right space, but they made a simple mistake I have even seen experience editors make, yes you could have been BOLD and just moved it, or yes I could move it myself and only CSD the one redirect that needs it. This was in absolutely in no way bitey. I moved the page, and I pinged the article creator on the talk page to notify them of the move. So please stop acting like I did anything to offend the article creator. WikiVirusC(talk) 21:07, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
I've asked you to not take unnecessary actions that create more work for other editors. I interpret your answer as no, you are not willing to do that. Mduvekot (talk) 21:18, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
I have already said I have not taken actions that have created more unnecessary work for anyone. If you are just gonna ignore what I say in my replies why are you even still here? Action was going to have to be taken no matter what I did or didn't do. You are accusing me of being bitey, of making extra work for other users, neither of which I have done. To answer your question I have no intention of creating unnecessary work for others, nor have I ever had such intention, or have I implied that I would do so in the future which you seem to be suggesting. Please let it go and stop accusing me of bad intentions. WikiVirusC(talk) 21:37, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

Addl sheriffs outside scene

Did you happen to see my revert of that content yesterday? If so, I take it you disagree? I would just revert you, but I think I'm impotent for awhile per 3RR. ―Mandruss  13:32, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Sorry, no I did not see you revert. I saw the article last night, but went to sleep before looking to adding it into article. I saw the part about them reviewing tapes, but the part about 4 officers being outside the building seemed to be what they said they knew happened. The part where they said "the four deputies who were first on the scene did not appear to join them as they entered the school", seemed a little bit they weren't sure about, so I didn't included that possibly disputed part. There is also the reported confrontation between the city manager and Israel to consider. If you want, I can revert it as an official report will be coming out later as you and the sources have said. WikiVirusC(talk) 13:40, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
I'd appreciate that. And Anthony22 wouldn't feel picked on. ―Mandruss  13:44, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Done, I considered leaving in the mention of the confrontation with city manager, but figured was no need for it until later. WikiVirusC(talk) 13:51, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. BTW, there is only one Broward County Sheriff. Mandruss  14:01, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Yeah I screw that up all the time and don't even realize it. Since I reverted, I would never have noticed the screw up in the edit if you didn't mention it just now. Thanks WikiVirusC(talk) 14:28, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

Stoneman Douglas shooting

Since any edit on that article could be controversial, I'll point out that the section still says the March 14 walkout is "planned". I don't want to tinker with it since it could be a real mess, but it probably should be chronological. And I'm sorry I missed that section, but it wasn't obvious from the name.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 14:33, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

No big deal missing the link, the section talks about more then just the protest, so I guess they named it debate. I changed the tense for yesterdays walkout, I'll let someone else deal with the mess of chronology. The details of who organized what and where also is something I don't want to try and figure out. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Champs vs Stars logo.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Champs vs Stars logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Johnny Lawrence merger

If you think doing a histmerge to Johnny Lawrence (character) is a better option I am down for that. Dwanyewest (talk) 13:37, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

I changed the redirect target from The Karate Kid to the new Johnny Lawrence page. I don't really think a histmerge is even necessary, since the new page you created doesn't looked based off the old version of the page and was original to your contribution. I removed the merge request as there was nothing to merge from a page that was already a redirect. WikiVirusC(talk) 13:44, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Creation of Gilpertpedon stand alone article

New Updates & Messages For Active Participants in the Marvel Comics work group

  • Current message (25/1/2020)

Greetings to you all & a great weekend. I took the iniative to send this mass message to you all because I observed from the article on Elders of the Universe that certain key members of the Elders of the Universe have no article of theirs and most glaring is that of Gilpertpedon/The Runner. I believe subject has become notable enough for a stand alone article & it would be a great idea for someone in possession of a picture of the runner which is their own work (as to avoid image copyright violations) to begin the article. Then the rest of us contribute to the article’s development.Celestina007 (talk) 14:38, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Your subscriptions with the Feedback Request Service

Hi WikiVirusC! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service for one or both of the Good Article nomination categories "Arts" and "Everyday life".

You may have noticed that the Feedback Request Service has been inoperative for a number of months, and Yapperbot is currently in the process of taking over from Legobot in performing the requests. In that process, the subscription categories have been updated to match the current categories used by the Good Articles project, and neither "Arts" nor "Everyday life" is used anymore.

What this means is:

  • If you were subscribed to "Arts", your preference has been transferred to Art and architecture as a new category, which you have automatically been opted in to. You may also be interested in Music and/or Media and drama; however, you have not automatically been opted in to these. If you wish to opt in to these, you should follow the process below.
  • If you were subscribed to "Everyday life", you have been unsubscribed entirely from that category, as the category is too vague to assign to any of the new, more specific, categories.

You are encouraged to review your FRS preferences to ensure that they match your interests; there are a number of new categories you can now opt in to additionally. To do this, you should:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. If you were previously subscribed to "Arts" and wish to unsubscribe from "Art and architecture", scroll to that subheading and remove your {{Frs user}} template.
  3. If you wish to subscribe to an additional category, you should do so by pasting {{Frs user|{{subst:currentuser}}|limit}} underneath the relevant heading, where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

Please note that any subscription preferences you had with the FRS for requests for comment have not been affected by these changes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on Yapperbot's operator's talk page. Thank you!

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:45, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
