Australian English (Nov 2020)
[edit]Just be aware that we use Australian English in articles about Australian topics, so there is no need to convert things into American spelling. Also, when adding/changing information, you need to include a citation to support the the new info. Thanks Kerry (talk) 07:43, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
Convert template (Dec 2020)
[edit]I see you are adding the distances from one place to another. There is an better way to do this than doing it manually as you are. When in the Visual Editor, click on Insert then Template
then type in "convert" (without the quotes) and then click Add Template
A pop-up should appear and you really only need to fill in the first two fields. The first one is the number (e.g. 150) and the second is the units (e.g. km).
Then click Insert.
It will automatically convert and display in both km and miles. It is fairly smart about working out what is the best unit to convert to. You only need to tell the units to be converted to if that would not be the "obvious" choice, e.g. if you wanted to convert 150 km to feet.
Once you have added one of these templates, when in the Visual Editor, click on it, a pop-up will appear telling you it's a convert template with an Edit button, which you click and you get the same pop-up, and then you can change whatever you want to change. and then click "Apply Changes". Using these is much quicker and more accurate. Note the convert template can convert temperatures, weights, speeds and many other things (the full list of all the units is here). External links in article body (Jan 2022)
[edit]As per Wikipedia:External links we don't normally add external links in the body of an article (e.g. as you did with the schools in Charleville. We do use external links in citations in the body of the article and it would be normal to put in a citation to a school's URL as it usually has information used in the Wikipedia article such as its address for example. So if you are feeling the urge to add a URL, ask yourself, "could I use it as a citation?". I hope this helps. I don't want you to waste your time doing something that will be deleted later by someone else because you didn't know. If I can be of any help, just ask me. There is a bit of a learning curve with Wikipedia's many policies. Kerry (talk) 08:56, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Please stop adding external links into the body text of articles. For the school URLs it would be appropriate to add them as a citation for the school. 04:06, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
About your edit on The Westlander (Jan 2021)
[edit]Thank you for your contributions. I have removed part of your edit on the consist because it is unsourced. If you can find a reliable source for this, you can certainly add it back. Thanks mate! Train of Knowledge (Talk) 08:43, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
The Inlander (Queensland Rail) (Jan 2021)
[edit]Hi Worland270! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at The Inlander (Queensland Rail) that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Train of Knowledge (Talk) 08:46, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
Dulacca (July 2021)
[edit]Hello, I'm Kerry Raymond. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Dulacca, Queensland have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. [edit]Disambiguation link notification for November 24
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Greyhound Australia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mount Isa, Queensland. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:02, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright (Jul 2023)
[edit]Hello Worland270! Your additions to Ursulines have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 13:18, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
Geoff McDonald (mayor) (September 2023)
[edit]Hello, Worland270. I noticed that your recent edit to Geoff McDonald (mayor) added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, or to a file name that does not exist on Wikipedia's server. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Thank you. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 03:58, 12 September 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your contributions, but remember, as indicated above to cite sources, and to provide an edit summary for each occasion.
You may find this helpful – Disambiguation links will show in orange. If you go to Preferences (top right of screen), then Gadgets, then scroll down to Appearance section, then scroll down until you find "Display links to disambiguation pages in orange", tick that box (and then Save, lower left of page) and you will see any disambiguation links displayed as orange making it easy to know if there are links to be disambiguated.–Q8682 (talk) 06:46, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
File source and copyright licensing problem with File:SE24-Warrego-Ann-Leahy-MP.jpeg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:SE24-Warrego-Ann-Leahy-MP.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:06, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Worland270! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:07, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
