Talk:Medical uses of silver[edit]

For some reason, the archive is messed up for Talk:Medical uses of silver. I'm not sure what should be done to fix it. Biosthmors (talk) 00:57, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have corrected the archiving template but not before the bot came along and made a huge mess. The problem was that the archiving template was set up wrong, set to make a new archive for every month (which only fairly active pages need), whereas the archiving scheme already in use just filled in the archives (Archive 1, Archive 2, Archive 3...) as it went along. The latter scheme seems more helpful in the case of this page; I've request administrative cleanup for the error at ANI. Intelligentsium 03:10, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It was not an error. There was no automatic archiving, everything was being done manually. I restored the archives (so that the bot could rearchive them into the monthly scheme) and set monthly archiving but then you set the archiving to incremental and performed a full revert without noticing that the page contained the restored archives. Full reverts are really hurtful and should not be performed unless it's to fix vandalism. —Ahnoneemoos (talk) 04:00, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Let's try to keep the discussion in one place - I've responded to you on my talk page. The revert I performed was of the bot, which I assumed to be in error. While the error was mine, I am perplexed by your assertion that "Full reverts are really hurtful and should not be performed unless it's to fix vandalism." - this might have set back your archiving, which I apologise for, but isn't it a bit of an exaggeration to say that they are "really hurtful"? As I see it, the worst case scenario is that an admin comes to delete all the archives so the bot can start over. I would be surprised if it even came to that. As I said, feel free to revert my edits if you feel the monthly archiving scheme is better. Intelligentsium 04:18, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

pL[edit]

Please help. I have uploaded an image of the youth club I created, Normandy Youth Club - The N Factor and I have made the mistake of uploading the wrong one. The wrong one has images of our young members, as a matter of urgency could this please be deleted as urgently as possible. I was supposed to have uploaded the logo, but realised too late. Please help, as this is a material that could be used by paedophiles. I have posted the image in the WIKI commons area. the file is 'NORMANDY YOUTH CLUB - THE N FACTOR'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thenfactor (talkcontribs) 01:40, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This didn't return any hits, FYI. Biosthmors (talk) 02:22, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The lack of a hit is due to Help:Searching#Delay in updating the search index. Thenfactor's contributions at Commons shows the file but I don't want to link it here. Thenfactor has nominated it for speedy deletion. A Commons administrator will review the nomination. Wikipedia and Commons have different administrators and I cannot delete it. PrimeHunter (talk) 03:20, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The file has been deleted. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:01, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Diaoyu Islands should have the same treatment as Senkaku Islands[edit]

"Invite more than one editor" in the page clearly says the reason:

"Since the article is locked for editing, we should invite more than one editor with more diversified background......"

Talk:Diaoyu Islands

Since Diaoyu_Islands redirects to Senkaku Islands (talk page also redirects), I don't understand what you mean by giving them the same treatment. They are the same (I mean the articles are the same. I have no opinion on the dispute) RudolfRed (talk) 06:01, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
After a quick look, he believes the major contributors are biased towards the one side and wants more eyes to try to balance things out. No idea if he's right or wrong, but I don't see how this notice can hurt. – Philosopher Let us reason together. 04:33, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Logo Update[edit]

Hi there - I am looking to update the logo for Waterside Karori AFC (Waterside Karori). The new logo can be found at http://www.allteams.co.nz/Upload/UserMedia/Files/37571/Karori%20Logo%20Cropped.jpg. I dont know enough about editing to do this - any help appreciated! Thanks... — Preceding unsigned comment added by The92Super (talkcontribs) 08:20, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this can be tricky. I have uploaded the new logo using the "Upload a new version of this file" link towards the bottom of File:Wharfies.jpg. Since your account is still relatively new, that link may not be there for you. Welcome to Wikipedia, by the way - I've left you some introductory links on your talk page. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:42, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

what is notables criteria for comics, comics illustrators, comic book writers and illustrators generally? --89.249.2.53 (talk) 10:28, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apart from the general notability guidelines, which apply to everything, the guidelines at WP:CREATIVE apply to writers and illustrators, and the guidelines at WP:NWEB apply to comics published on the web. I don't see any specific criteria for printed comics, since the guidelines at WP:NBOOK specifically exclude them. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:28, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image caching bug?[edit]

Is there currently some sort of MediaWiki bug related to image caching? I recently uploaded a new version of File:Rama VIII Bridge at night.jpg. The preview on the file description page is showing correctly, but the thumbnails in the article aren't being updated, nor is the full resolution. I've cleared my browser cache, and purging the pages don't help. I might have seen this on some other files as well. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:12, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There's an archived discussion here; in that case it took five days for the revised images to be copied to all the right places. -- John of Reading (talk) 12:22, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Expect similar issues over the next few days --Senra (talk) 13:28, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any policy or guideline to follow if someone is impersonating me?[edit]

I was notified of this discussion by Flyer22 where an IP using my signature posted a comment in the Secondary sex characteristic talk page. So far it seems to be limited to this one comment, but is there anything I can do if it continues? - a boat that can float! (watch me float) 13:20, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'll warn the IP, let me or another admin know if you encounter it again. Yunshui  14:40, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
All right, thanks! - a boat that can float! (watch me float) 14:53, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

William Russell - actor[edit]

You have inaccurately put that Alfred Enoch, William Russell's son, is by Balbina Gutierrez. This is wrong. He is the son of Etheline Margareth Lewis Enoch, Mr. Russell's present wife who is indeed a pysician. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jenerino (talkcontribs) 14:18, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the information about Enoch being Gutierrez's son as it did not have a source, but do you have a reliable source to say that he is the son of Etheline Enoch? - a boat that can float! (watch me float) 14:29, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for a specific deleted page[edit]

Resolved
 – I made the request at the proper venue over at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. Thanks for the help. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 15:48, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I want to request undeletion of a specific page of which I guess it is located in my userspace. It's a template to be placed on the talk page of an article in order to inform the watchers of that page about possible problems of a file on that page with the non-free content criteria. Can an admin tell me the exact name of that page, so that I can (perhaps) make a request at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion? (I wish I'd remember the exact name, I guess it was something like User:Toshio Yamaguchi/Template:Article talk page notification, but I am not sure. I am not even sure whether it is really still located in my userspace or whether it had been moved somewhere else). -- Toshio Yamaguchi 14:50, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In your own sandbox, type {{list subpages|Toshio Yamaguchi|user}} and save the page. This uses the {{list subpages}} template to list the sub-pages of your own user-space --Senra (talk) 15:24, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Special:Prefixindex, and templates like {{list subpages}} which use it, will only list pages that haven't been deleted. Toshio really does need an administrator for this one. -- John of Reading (talk) 15:30, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, filtering my contributions for those to the talk namespace I found this diff from which I can see that the page is User:Toshio Yamaguchi/Article talk notification. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it anyway. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 15:37, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

weblinks[edit]

Thankyou for including links to my company's website in some of your musical instrument articles. Probably because I recently migrated my site to a new server these links no longer work and the reader gets an error 404 page. Could you please tell me how I can update these links?

Thanks ever so much for your time Jeremy West — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeremyscornets (talkcontribs) 15:43, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to take it up if you could tell me the names of some of the articles that link to your website. - a boat that can float! (watch me float) 15:55, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Suppose Jeremy means the http://www.jeremywest.co.uk/cmi/index.html link in External links section of Cornett page. And I guess the link should read http://www.jeremywest.co.uk/christopher-monk-instruments.html now. --CiaPan (talk) 16:25, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Updated [1] --CiaPan (talk) 16:26, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I found another with Special:LinkSearch and updated it.[2] PrimeHunter (talk) 20:27, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Link farm[edit]

Cartoon seems to have a link farm in external links. I removed them and was reverted. I couldn't be bothered to see if consenus was reached on inclusion of so many but others may wish to look at it.--Canoe1967 (talk) 17:03, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for an experienced editor to help improve the College For Every Student wikipedia page. Thank you! AubreyCollege13 (talk) 19:02, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Are Links To Facebook Pages Appropriate For Wikipedia Articles?[edit]

Are links to Facebook pages appropriate for Wikipedia articles? I'm asking this because recently I've been adding links to Facebook pages to various Wikipedia articles but I'm wondering, actually, whether I ought to revert my changes back. I have periodically witnessed Facebook page links being added to various Wikipedia articles (added by other users besides myself, I mean). I'm just asking, so that I don't continue to make these same mistakes in the future. By the way, I have been using "https" links; although I don't really know what the technical difference between "http" and "https" links are. 98.229.132.126 (talk) 20:07, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Links to Facebook pages are generally not appropriate per WP:ELNO, #10.--ukexpat (talk) 20:15, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Journal of Global Health - new article[edit]

Hi I have created my second article in my user space here User:Ekorakakis/JoGH. Could somebody please review this and advise if it is OK to move to the main space? e-korax (talk) 22:59, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's rather lacking in citations, but it looks good so far. Congratulations on that! Jenova20 (email) 12:29, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Jenova20 for taking the time to look at it. I am still trying to get more references - especially for the databases that it has been indexed at.e-korax (talk) 18:54, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
