Appropriate noticeboard for constant inappropriate pages?[edit]

I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere and I've missed it, but I seem to encounter this problem every so often and I always leave it to someone else to resolve. If someone is constantly creating a page that clearly violates the criteria for speedy deletion and is getting deleted each time, but isn't actually vandalism, what's the proper noticeboard to report it to? Specifically for people writing autobiographies or promotional material. ProtossPylon 00:04, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If someone is creating the same page over and over and over again and isn't getting the message, then WP:AIV may be appropriate. If you don't get a good response there, WP:ANI is another option, but things reported there tend to degenerate into long discussions and it isn't the place to go for quick action. --Jayron32 00:14, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. AIV will get a quick response. I would actually start with their talk page. ANI is a place to discuss if action is needed, rather than a place to automatically get a response. In any case, other than AIV, they need to be notified on their talk page. elastic therapeutic tape[edit]

I have brought this subject up repeatedly on the "talk" page! The entry on "elastic therapeutic tape" has been maliciously re-edited time and again since the summer of 2012. Someone is claiming that the holders of two old, unrelated patents are the "inventors" of the tape and taping method. This claim was entirely new in 2012 and the edits are obviously a malicious attempt to put erroneous historical facts into the mass culture. Everyone in the therapeutic community -- even his competitors -- knows that Kenzo Kase was the originator of this idea. Without the kind of second-hand reference that Wikipedia requires I have given up trying to keep his name in the article -- although it is a little like removing Alexander Graham Bell from an article about telephones. So Kase is out of the picture. C'est la vie. That does not mean he should be replaced by a fake inventor.

It is generally a strength of Wikipedia that you assume that everyone means well. Unfortunately it is not always so. This case is deliberate and malicious. Dr. Kase holds current patents to various aspects of the manufacture and practice of elastic therapeutic taping, and this Wikipedia campaign appears to be an attempt to create false facts for some kind of nuisance lawsuit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Viejitadeloeste (talk • contribs) 06:10, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Train2Game[edit]

We would like some assistance in understanding why DDavid Gerard wants to remove links to organizations such TIGA, The Prince's Trust, BBC, Microsoft and even the world renown City and Guilds. Currently we can only assume he has a bias angle - what are the fact please and why does he continue to delete factual accuracies? Sirs Another individual has amended the Train2Game page, which we have undone, which included factually inaccurate content. There are two individuals doing this leaving. One whic the page claims does not exist Pinkbeast and the other being your David Gerard.

How can we resolve inaccuracies being added to Wiki.

You can notify whoever you want but the fact remains that an organization does not determine what appears here. This is an encyclopedia and not an advertising medium or PR outlet. You made a request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations/Rejected/17#Akarakas → Reiro, but you never provided the requested evidence that you are the Korean Reiro. Make a new request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations and this time, make an edit in English as ko:User:Reiro confirming that you request the English account. refreshing pages[edit]

How can I force an updated page to be refreshed? I have tried "?action=purge" but it seems to have no effect. Example, I edited The Octonauts but although it displays correctly for me when logged in, for non-users it shows the 13 January 2013 00:49 version which omits all my recent edits! (This is a semi protected page, perhaps this affects things?) One of my concerns is that the display of outdated information could lead to erroneous edits which do no reflect the current article's content. Samatarou (talk) 20:24, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is by design that IPs see a cached version of a recently edited page. However I am not sure they should be seeing a version that old.--ukexpat (talk) 20:28, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template for 403 error on external link?[edit]

In Halo orbit there's an external link CDS140B: Computation of Halo Orbit. This gives HTTP status 403 Forbidden, and the text displayed is "Access denied You are not authorized to access this page."

I would like to flag this link, but I can't find a suitable template. It isn't dead, and there's no indication a subscription is required (it's a university site). -- Isidore (talk) 21:41, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You said that my submission "is not adequately supported by reliable sources", which can be verified. In this case everything can be verified because I myself am ULRICH VOGT, the German author!! The same text I've sent to you, translated by an American friend, has already been published in German Wikipedia in German language under "Ulrich Vogt, Buchautor". There you can see that everything is okay. You can also have a look to my private website "www.ulrichvogt.de",where you can see all the books I wrote in the last 16 years. Even in the "Katalog der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek"-"Catalogue of the German National Library" (find a Link to it) you'll get information of my published books. I am sorry Ulrich, but on English Wikipedia, self-published sources are not accepted as reliable, and autobiography is strongly discouraged. Listing in national catalogue is fine for demonstrating that the books exist and that you have written them, but not adequate for demonstrating that you meet the criteria for notability.
