Vicuna, Chile (town)[edit]

The geographic long/lat given is for a suburb of Valparaiso, not Vicuna — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:6F0C:7200:85E2:D9E1:9753:9E9 (talk) 02:12, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nintendo games[edit]

I'm not an expert on finding this stuff, is there a page that lists Nintendo video game articles that need help? --Ramesty (talk) 02:45, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Articles mentioning a word, but not linking to them?[edit]

A singer who appear on The Tonight Show last night has an article on Wikipedia, but it didn't link to her home town, which is also mine. As a frequent user of WhatLinksHere, it got me wondering if there's a way to search for articles mentioning a word, but not linking to it? -- Zanimum (talk) 12:25, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Zanimum Assuming the town has its own Wikipedia article, the Find link tool is a brill way of finding articles mentioning the town without linking: Noyster (talk), 12:40, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Noyster: This is perfect, it not only finds the pages but lets me instantly save an update, I'm shocked how amazing this is. Thank you! -- Zanimum (talk) 21:37, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Barbara Hewson[edit]

There's a bit of a hoo-hah in the Talk page - an edit has been removed because it has a Daily Mail link for a fairly recent controversy in Hewson's life. Now, there's a link for the same story in The Times (and behind a paywall) but two admins have said that there must be TWO links, or the person reverting the edit gets banned, end of. Trouble is, there's only one reliable source for this, but it HAS to have two because the admins say so. They also seem keen on dismissing it as gossip, even though it's pretty much the opposite of gossip i.e. it really happened, with police records and everything. The admins remain adamant... little help? Truthteller88 (talk) 18:45, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a link to make things easy: Barbara Hewson.  Seagull123  Φ  22:29, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Truthteller88 hello. Both our policies WP:EXCEPTIONAL and WP:WELLKNOWN require multiple reliable sources if the claim being placed is controversial or exceptional. These are non-negotiable policies on biographies of living people. The administrators are right. The Daily Mail is not accepted as a reliable source (please read WP:DAILY MAIL for more information). Any editor who repeatedly attempts to re-insert challenged material despite these warnings may get blocked for a significant time to prevent disruption. Your edits on the particular page are tendentious and you have already received your final warning before the impending block. My suggestion would be to immediately stop such edits and confirm this on the talk page of the article at the soonest. I don't see the current trend of editing leading to anywhere but an immediate block. If you need any assistance in understanding our policies and guidelines while editing biographies of living people, please do not hesitate to write back here. Pointer to policy decisions on whether or not to add infoboxes to articles about classical music composers[edit]

Hello! On wp:WikiProject Biography/Infoboxes it says Word of caution! Certain biography articles have opposition camps on infoboxes. With the current work groups, it is generally safe, but, for instance, scientist articles can have some heated debates on these. So, if you are intending to apply one of the templates to an article about a scientist, academic, or classical composer, musician or singer, first ask on the Talk page. Before asking on the Talk Page of the specific articles I have in mind, I'd like to read some more general policy discussions and decisions on whether or not to add infoboxes to articles about classical music composers to familiarize myself with the arguments for and against. I searched but nothing popped up. Any pointers? Thanks! Talk to SageGreenRider 22:07, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You can begin here Wikipedia:WikiProject Classical music/Guidelines#Biographical infoboxes. Towards the bottom of the sction their are links to the larger two of the previous discussions. MarnetteD|Talk 22:14, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Submitting a draft article for review[edit]

I have written a draft article draft:Fink Truss. I am ready to submit it for review, but can not find published guidance on how to do that. IronSprings (talk) 23:55, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IronSprings! It seems that SweetCanadianMullet has already submitted your draft for review: Draft: Fink Truss. Now you just have to wait! Good Luck! Maineartists (talk) 00:46, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Eagleash: Good point, I changed the name. SweetCanadianMullet (talk) 02:16, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@SweetCanadianMullet: I didn't get the ping because it was added later. Has to be in a message signed at the time per WP:PING. Eagleash (talk) 02:55, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
