I see that you included a link to Memory and Aging Project (MAP) in your edits to Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center. This link appears as a redlink, but this is not an indication of vandalism or of blocking, but merely an indication that the page Memory and Aging Project (MAP) does not (yet) exist. You might want to try again in English. What are you clicking on where to see "do you want to write a new entry."? I can't see that string anywhere in Wikipedia. If you are trying to create a new article in mainspace, you can't do that from an IP address because of WP:ACTRIAL. As an IP you'll have to create a draft and submit it through the WP:AFC process. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:32, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia content on Igor Durlovski

A content was posted on the page of Igor Durlovski, the Macedonian opera singer under Controversies. The information posted there is gross misrepresentation of the actual situation. Igor Durlovski was jailed because his political beliefs were different than those of the current ruling party. He was part of the organization "Macedonia for all" and took part in over 60 days of peaceful protests and the protest in the Assembly mainly by signing the national anthem. He gave numerous speeches and interviews and always called for peace and equality and respect of all people living in Macedonia regardless of their ethnic origin. He never, even once called for violence of any kind. He was jailed on November 29 and has been held since in jail in Macedonia without anyone talking with him, questioning him or asking for a statement. This is a highly politically motivated process of removing political opponents and is nothing new in this world unfortunately. Wikipedia should restrain from posting materials on it until a proper judicial process at least starts (if ever). I have been experiencing issues with publishing the Clarence McNair wikipedia page. I've sent messages to the administrator Bonadea in charge of editing the page and would like to contest the deletion of this page. I've have inserted the information that needs to be published and would like some help on successfully publishing this page. Here is the information I would like to submit.

Clarence "KD" McNair (November 30, 1977) is an American entertainer, brand manager, recording manager, and event coordinator in the Entertainment Industry. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, KD grew up performing in various singing platforms. He reached stardom when discovered by brand manager Brian Dickens and Jerome Lattisaw (Haqq Islam) in the mid 1990s and signed to Interscope Records [[1]] with R&B male group Prophet Jones. The group was later signed to Motown Records [[2]] with the help of [[3]] Russell Simmons, founder of [[4]]Def Jam Recordings. KD co-wrote the self-titled album Prophet Jones released in 2001, where the group performed on [[5]] Soul Train, [[6]]MTV2, and BET's 106 and Park hosted by AJ and Free. @Clarence McNair: I am not an administrator, and have not deleted any pages (I would not be able to do that even if I wanted to). I have removed the autobiography you posted to various existing Wikipedia pages, and I have tagged a couple of different pages you created with your autobio for deletion, and they have subsequently been deleted by admins. Partly this was because the content was misplaced - you have been pasting the same text to a number of different unrelated pages and also created badly named pages - but in addition, the text was promotional, and finally, autobiographies are always discouraged. Some information about this was posted to your talk page by another editor, here. It is important that you read and understand this. Wikipedia is not a place like Linkedin where people can advertise themselves, and Wikipedia articles do not belong to the person the article is about (nor to anyone else). --bonadea contributions talk 10:26, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

dear Team, i would like to create a page for Blow Inc Ltd, this company was set up in 1992 as a magazine till 1997, then it went on to product The Off Schedule Guide and also Blow PR from 2002-2016. Blow was fundamental in helping the career of many fashion designers through out its history. Hello. Michael1133. Please start off by reading WP:NCORP, to see if the company is notable (in Wikipedia's special sense): have several people who have no connection with the company chosen to write in depth about it, and been published in reliable places? If the answer is no, then no article about it will be accepted, however it is written. If the answer is yes, then there could be an article about it (rather than a "page for it"). You could make a request at requested articles, but in truth the chance of the request being picked up is quite low. You could try writing it yourself, though this is not easy - see your first article. If you have a connection with the company, then you also need to declare this fact: see COI. --ColinFine (talk) 17:22, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

uploading photos

For this entry https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosboom_%26_Hegener I have been trying to upload two pictures, one of P.H. Bosboom and on of F.C.M. Hegener (my father) heaven knows how many times. Each time someone or a computer deletes them. Both pictures are from the photoalbums of the families of the two men concerned, I have 100% permission to use these pictures, no one knows who took them. So, what to do to upload these pictures without them being delted?

If you want to use them in that article you'll have to upload them to the Wikimedia Commons. If you've uploaded them before and they were deleted there may be an issue, which you should address to whoever deleted them. nagualdesign 13:06, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

@Mathilde2009: You have uploaded images to Commons, not to English Wikipedia, and they have been deleted from Commons, not from English Wikipedia.

To add to the correct advice above, copyright normally belongs to the photographer, so if no one knows who took them you can't have "100% permission to use these pictures". --David Biddulph (talk) 13:20, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

That seems a little over-prescriptive. If the images come from a family photo album, where the only certainty is that none of the people in the photograph took the photo, I wouldn't have thought the copyright would be so strict. If you were on holiday and got a stranger to take your photograph with your camera, for example, I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't become the stranger's intellectual property, even though the photograph itself is proof that you didn't take it. Family photo albums are full of photos that nobody can remember who took. nagualdesign 17:04, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia strives to obey copyright law as it is, not as you might like it to be. If you can't identify the copyright holder, or can but don't have their explicit permission, then you don't have the legal right to use the image. If you ask a passing stranger to use your camera to take a picture of you in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, then that stranger holds the copyright. If you then post that picture on Facebook, you are breaking the law. You and I won't be in the least bothered by this, the stranger is not going to sue us; but Wikipedia policy is to obey the law anyway. Maproom (talk) 22:53, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Digging a little deeper, there are indeed ways to use orphan works in the UK (where I live), but regarding orphan works in the United States there have been several bills introduced but "Congress has not yet passed any legislation". The situation in the European Union, where the uploader is from, is less than clear to me, but since the Dutch Wikipedia appears to store all of its media at the Wikimedia Commons EU law makes little difference anyway. That's a shame. Of course if the uploader were to come forward in a few weeks and say, "As it turns out my uncle took that photo and he's granted his permission to upload it", no one would be any the wiser. nagualdesign 00:06, 9 January 2018 (UTC) (Alternatively he could claim that it was taken by a monkey.)

Use of Image from another Wikipedia

Hellow Fellow Wikipedians!. I cant seem to use the image located here:[14]

The issue appears to be that the picture is uploaded to the Russian wikipedia, but not to the Wikipedia commons. Only those pictures on the commons can be used cross-wiki, I believe. If the picture is in the public domain or is otherwise under a commons license, it can be transferred to the commons and then used on all wikipedia projects. However, it looks like that image is non-free. Since I am uni-lingual I do not know any other details of the picture's licensing. Do you know what the fair use rationale for the picture is? If it really worries you, then read CE as Christian Era, and BCE as Before the Christian Era. Wikipedia just follows what the majority of sources are using. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers#Era style for our policy. Dbfirs 16:36, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

• a) this is not the proper forum; and b) per MOS:BCE both BC/AD and BCE/CE are valid and are used on WP. The only requirement is consistency throughout an article, though it can not be changed from one format to another without reason. Bottom line is it's up to individual editors to determine which to use. "Christ" was not the surname of Jesus of Nazareth, and he was never called that while alive. It is a messianic title that comes from the Greek language and he did not speak Greek. Aramaic was his everyday language, plus Hebrew for religious purposes. That title was applied to him after his death. Please see Christ (title). SVG resizing error

...I've just tried resizing the image myself using nothing but Notepad++ and it worked. Bear in mind that the width and height appear twice and the top of the file and again at the very bottom. You missed the ones at the bottom and, I'm guessing, the result was to crop only the top left corner, which is empty, rather than resize the whole image. Changing all 3 worked out fine, though I have to wonder why you would wish to do so. nagualdesign 17:16, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Not able to upload information

Hello,

I actually have made a few edits to a clients Wikipedia and now need to upload information to Wikipedia for another client, professional violinist, Drew Tretick.

I am a Publicist and now have several clients that I may need to update the information about them on Wikipedia.

How do I get approved to allow me to do those updates?

Please understand, Robert Walker, that Wikipedia is essentially uninterested in your or your clients' needs. If Wikipedia has articles about your clients, they belong to Wikipedia, not to the client, and their and your role in connection with them should be limited to making suggestions on the articles' talk pages. Account GoldenHotdog is vandalizing one of our Schools Wikipedia page

I have created an account to undo the changes GoldenHotdog made. He is using profanity and basically vandalized the wikipedia page. After I pressed undo, it is now waiting for review/approval.

Could you please block GoldenHotdog for doing these?

GoldenHotdog changed grades from 9-12 to 9-102. Student count to 6969 and other bad comments about the principal of the school.
