Bias at Wikipedia[edit]

It has come to my attention that Wikipedia has a policy of censoring contributors who support traditional marriage and who believe in the sanctity of human life. It appears that such views are unacceptable to Wikipedia editors, who have decided to deny free speech to those who hold a different opinion to theirs. Your thoughts? Also note that Wikipedia is not a free speech forum, see WP:FREESPEECH. Just as you can dictate what is said and done in your residence, Wikipedia can dictate what appears on its computers. I have a possible proposal for WP:VPP, but it depends on being able to search revisions by tags on a page. I've combed through H:SEARCH and WP:AFTAGS but there doesn't seem to be any overlap. photo question[edit]

There is a photo on the Helen Holmes entry. It's the photo that shows above Ms. Holmes' info on the right. The picture is of Helen Gibson, who took over the lead role in Hazards of Helen. Hello, IP user. The image description for File:Helen Holmes by Witzel.jpg says that it is a photo of Holmes by a named photographer, so I'm a little inclined to doubt what you say (and Google is notorious for providing wrong as well as right answers to questions). Do you think that is the same person as File:Helengibson1920.jpg? (I've never heard of these people, and I generally find it difficult to compare pictures and say whether they're the same person.) Hello, thanks for the ping. It appears that I uploaded the image in question on 5 December 2019 from Listal. The headline above the picture reads "Picture of Helen Holmes." The image was taken by Albert Walter Witzel (1879–1929), as can be seen on the image itself. After doing a bit more searching, I think initial commenter above may be correct: I think the image is indeed of Helen Gibson and not Helen Holmes. I am basing this on several other images found at Women in Stunts and Silent Hollywood. These are all obviously the same woman. Images of Helen Holmes can bee seen here, here and here. I do apologize profusely, and should have been more diligent when uploading. The file in question should be renamed as possibly "Helen Gibson by Witzel" and kept (Witzel images are within the public domain). It's a good picture, so it could possibly be used for the Gibson article. As of now, I will change the picture on the Helen Holmes article until this is sorted. Help fix a table heading[edit]

someone else's photo now appears in the Wikpedia window[edit]

When I Google my name - Robert Royal (author) - the proper info comes up but someone else's photo now appears in the Wikpedia window. The right one used to come up there. Our article about you doesn't have a photograph, so it's definitely not coming from here - they're probably just taking our text and grabbing a photo from somewhere else. We have no control over Google, but Google apparently prefers to use our picture if we have one. You can therefore get around Google's problem by taking a picture of yourself (so you own and can license the copyright) and uploading it to Commons and adding it to our article about you. I worked with Geoff Lancashire in the Promotion Dept at Granada from January 1960. At no time at Granada was Hilda his personal assistant (as stated)..She worked in the library with Gerry Hagan (later, I believe, curator of Sir Sidney Bernstein's great art collection). Because we are crowdsourced by anonymous editors, all assertions in all our articles must be referenced to reliable published sources (see WP:RS). If you have a source, you can change the article. If the existing statement has no source, you may remove it. The words "personal assistant" may be a misinterpretation of the Radio Times reference, which states "Geoffrey ... was a scriptwriter" and "Hilda was his assistant until they divorced".^[1] TSventon (talk) 20:36, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The info that says she was his assistant when they were married was unsourced, so there's no issue in removing it if its accuracy is called into question. I found an obituary that said she was a secretary, so I changed the info to be more general. If a better source appears, the info can be added back. NFCC: How to reduce image size[edit]

I am far from an image expert, and was wondering if somebody could point out how to easily reduce the size of a file. My case: File:Thomas R Howell.gif. Malicious Edits to Page - Association for Behavior Analysis International[edit]

Current version contains inaccurate and outdated info, plus a very skewed and bias view. I have tried to incorporate accurate changes and capture the concerns expressed by critics in a neutral tone, but edits keep getting undone. Asked for full protection for the page, but only received semi-protection and now the inaccurate edits are up and I am unable to correct them. Myself and others have tried to find a middle point in the talk, but there seems to be a group of editors who are only willing to accept their version of the article.

Hello, Scandevi. What you have is a content dispute. You do not appear to have edited the talk page, except to say you are requesting page protection: opening a discussion on the talk page is the first step to resolving a dispute. If you cannot reach consensus with the other editors, dispute resolution tells you how to proceed. Hello TheFinerThingsLLC! Start with WP:GNG. If you conclude "Yeah, I have those sources, no problem", move on to Help:Your first article. If you don't have those sources, it's a waste of your and other peoples time. And if WP:Conflict of interest applies to you, follow the guidance there. Adding an extra couple of boxes to a family tree on Wikipedia[edit]

Does anyone here know how I can add an extra couple of boxes to a family tree on Wikipedia? Specifically, I want to create a separate box for John, Lord of Carency in the House of Bourbon family tree right here right next to his two brothers--James II, Count of La Marche and Louis, Count of Vendome. I also want to create a separate box right below the hypothetical box for John, Lord of Carency for the Lords and princes of Carency.

Does anyone here know how to do all of this?

Hello Wikipedia help desk! According to the Wikipedia COI steps for engagement (Wikipedia:Plain_and_simple_conflict_of_interest_guide#Steps_for_engagement), this should be the right place for me to post this. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m reaching out to see if I could get more eyes on the edit request I posted on the Talk:VERITAS_(spacecraft) page a few months ago. I’ve previously posted to Wikipedia talk: WikiProject_Spaceflight and Wikipedia talk: WikiProject_Cooperation/Paid_editor_help. I’ve also reached out to editors who have edited the page before. A few editors have jumped in to help out and implement some of the request, but the majority of the request still has not been cleared. Would love more editors to come by.
