Railway station names[edit]

I have proposed that all railway station names in India be suffixed only with ‘railway station’ and all pages named otherwise be suitably altered. Kindly give your views on this subject in Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 22:02, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Chennai Corporation[edit]

Hi Anbu. Currently, the article has map in the infobox showing the location of corporation building. Can we change that to corporation boundary?--Challengethelimits (talk) 09:57, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but the location map template currently has CMDA boundaries. We can replace it with a map of corporation boundary, but I guess the coordinates wouldn't be supported on the map. --Anbu121 (talk me) 10:18, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 9[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Chennai Corporation, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Adyar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Kalyanasundaram[edit]

Hello! You participated in the deletion discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kalyanasundaram. You argued for keep, and the result was keep. Since then, doubt has been cast on some of the assertions made in the discussion and at the article. If you would like to participate in that discussion, it is at Talk:Kalyanasundaram. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 19:48, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

BTW noting your username: do you have anything to do with Anbu Palam? Can you cast any light on whether Anbu Palam is the same as Kalyanasundaram's organisation Paalam, or something different? --MelanieN (talk) 20:51, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have nothing to do with the organization. 'Anbu' is a tamil word which means affection. It seems to me that information from different news articles are contradicting with one another. Its better to keep the article simple with facts which are beyond doubt. --Anbu121 (talk me) 22:05, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information! I agree with you about the article. --MelanieN (talk) 23:02, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. What does Palam or Paalam mean? Which is the preferred English spelling? --MelanieN (talk) 23:06, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It means 'bridge'. 'Paalam' is phonetically better than 'Palam'. 'Anbu Paalam' is meant to convey that the organization acts as a bridge to people who need affection. --Anbu121 (talk me) 23:11, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help! --MelanieN (talk) 23:13, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

why cant DILAN GWYN page be created?[edit]

Hye Anbu121...

I just wanted to know why my page about DILAN GWYN is being prone to deletion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by THErahul wiki (talkcontribs) 10:21, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Having an article about a person in Wikipedia requires that the person be notable. Notability is often determined by references about the person from reliable sources. Please read Wikipedia:Notability (people). If you think that DILAN GWYN is indeed notable and the article has been wrongly deleted, you can contact the deleting admin JohnCD. --Anbu121 (talk me) 10:38, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tip[edit]

Here's a little tip Anbu121:

You created your Wikipedia account on 9 December 2011. On your userpage, anywhere on your userbox, you might like to write the following source:

{{User Wikipedian For|year=2011|month=12|day=9}}

If you do that, this will appear on your userbox:

This user has been on Wikipedia for 12 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Question[edit]

Greetings Anbu121! The rfc on the black people page has almost reached an end. However, there's one last matter that I was hoping you could perhaps help clarify. Australian Aborigines and many South Asians apparently "share many cultural, linguistic, physical and genetic features" [1]. Given this, do you think it's consistent to exclude one and not the other? Please advise. kind regards -- Soupforone (talk) 23:01, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anbu, would you call the recent tags added by User: Snokia to the article Triplcane unconstructive? adding "citation needed" tags every line does not help improve the article. Hope we can sort it out. --Challengethelimits (talk) 15:37, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AFT5 newsletter[edit]

Hey all; another newsletter.

  • If you're not already aware, a Request for Comment on the future of the Article Feedback Tool on the English-language Wikipedia is open; any and all comments, regardless of opinion and perspective, are welcome.
  • Our final round of hand-coding is complete, and the results can be found here; thanks to everyone who took part!
  • We've made test deployments to the German and French-language projects; if you are aware of any other projects that might like to test out or use the tool, please let me know :).
  • Developers continue to work on the upgraded version of the feedback page that was discussed during our last office hours session, with a prototype ready for you to play around with in a few weeks.

That's all for now! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 16:24, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New Article Feedback version available for testing[edit]

Hey all.

A final reminder that the Request for Comment on whether AFT5 should be turned on on Wikipedia (and how) is soon to close; for those of you who have not submitted an opinion or !voted, it can be found here.

AFT5 update[edit]

Hey Anbu121. I'm sorry to say that some bugs in code that the Article Feedback Tool is dependent on have resulted in us still not being able to deploy the latest version to en-wiki - although one advantage is that, because it's functioning on the German and French Wikipedias, the eventual release here will contain fixes for several newly-detected bugs without us having to bother you with them :P. At the moment, we're talking about several weeks of wait, I'm afraid - although the fix itself is not complex, it's dependent on Platform freeing up time to make and deploy it, and they're currently rather busy. I'll let you know when I have more news. Thanks :) Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:44, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:08, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity[edit]

You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi Anbu121,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Infibeam Logo.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Infibeam Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:36, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Chandra Mall has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There is a lack of significant in-depth coverage by reliable, third-party sources, as such fails WP:GEOFEAT

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~RAM (talk) 10:13, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
