NPR Newsletter No.14 21 October 2018

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months.

Hello GSS, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

Backlog

As of 21 October 2018, there are 3650 unreviewed articles and the backlog now stretches back 51 days.

Community Wishlist Proposal
Project updates
  • ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
  • There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.

Template:Advert tag on the article Stora Enso

Hi, GSS, I have noticed that you recently added the Template:Advert tag to the article Stora Enso. Under the heading When to use on the help page for the tag, the following explanation can be found: "Add this to articles that need help from other editors because in whole or part they are advertisements masquerading as articles. For example, they may tell users to buy the company's product, provide price lists, give links to online sellers, or use unencyclopedic or meaningless buzzwords. The advert tag is for Wikipedia articles that in whole or part have been made into public relations documents or brochures, with content that portrays an issue, a product, an organization, or a person in a positive or negative light."

I would appreciate if you could provide examples of language or content in the Stora Enso article that you consider fits with any of these descriptions. While there is no doubt room for improvements to the wording of individual sentences in the article, I cannot find anything that justifies the judgement implied by the "advert" tag. On the contrary, to the best of my interpretation efforts, my view is that the article only contains information that is relevant to the general reader, encyclopaedic in character and backed up by solid third-party sources. Hello Dear Sir/Madam May I know what's the issue about Articles that I moved recently. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pardeeps (talkcontribs) 06:19, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

@Pardeeps: Please do not add unnecessary disambiguation to the title, as you did with Mehtiana, which you originally created at Mehtiana, Punjab. I have moved the page to correct title as there is no other place with the same name exists. Please see WP:TITLE and WP:NCIND for more information. NPR Newsletter No.15 16 November 2018

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months.

Hello GSS,

Community Wishlist Survey – NPP needs you – Vote NOW
  • Community Wishlist Voting takes place 16 to 30 November for the Page Curation and New Pages Feed improvements, and other software requests. The NPP community is hoping for a good turnout in support of the requests to Santa for the tools we need. This is very important as we have been asking the Foundation for these upgrades for 4 years.
If this proposal does not make it into the top ten, it is likely that the tools will be given no support at all for the foreseeable future. So please put in a vote today.
We are counting on significant support not only from our own ranks, but from everyone who is concerned with maintaining a Wikipedia that is free of vandalism, promotion, flagrant financial exploitation and other pollution.
With all 650 reviewers voting for these urgently needed improvements, our requests would be unlikely to fail. See also The Signpost Special report: 'NPP: This could be heaven or this could be hell for new users – and for the reviewers', and if you are not sure what the wish list is all about, take a sneak peek at an article in this month's upcoming issue of The Signpost which unfortunately due to staff holidays and an impending US holiday will probably not be published until after voting has closed.

Articles deletion

Hello, I noticed that you deleted three articles I created, in two of them, you said: "Paid editors articles should go through WP:AFC to ensure neutrally worded articles." Is this a rule? if so, Where this is written in Wikipedia's instructions and guidelines? I've read all the things related to paid writing and contacted many editors and also admins before, no one ever mentioned such a thing. Braindot4 (talk) 18:29, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

@Braindot4: See WP:PAY for more details on paid editing. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 03:21, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Linda Cable UDP, why ?

Hi ! You put https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Linda_Cable a banner for supposed "article created or edited in return for undisclosed payments', but Sir, I published on my page Heralune, before I begin the article, that Mrs Linda Cable asked me to organize her biography and sources to publish (if possible) an article for her, it's official and it's through plateform Upwork. I have followed the rules of Wikipedia policy and you can see on my page that it is true/ Can you remove this banner ? I am NOT hiding the payments, I am following the rules. Thanks for your reply. Heralune (talk) 12:37, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

@Heralune: Actually, the disclosure was not clear whether you were paid or you are a friend of Linda Cable so, please see WP:COIDISCLOSEPAY and follow the instructions carefully, if you need any help please feel free to ask. GSS (talk|c|em) 12:58, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
@GSS: I have put the boxes like suggested, thanks, but it's a mess, I struggled with guides but could only create 2 different boxes. I cannot gather onto one. Later, can you remove the banner on my draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Linda_Cable ?
 Done. GSS (talk|c|em) 13:55, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Dr. Quraishi

Hi there, I had intended to quickly put up a short article about Dr. Azra Quraishi, and now it is dominating my day. Any chance you can suggest specific quick fixes to that page to prevent its speedy deletion?

Please note that while Dr. Quraishi was celebrated in Pakistan, the level of documentation is comparatively lower because (1) she died in 2002 before everyone had copious internet records of everything, and (2) botanists are generally not high-profile - and particularly not in Pakistan - and especially not if you are a woman. The fact that she won awards in France and Pakistan, (which was published in the Pakistan Journal of Botany) should show her notability. Everything I wrote can be verified, and I emailed the Palmes Academique in France to double verify the award in 2002.

I do not understand how to sign my post but I'll add 4 tildes below. It's Saba Ahmad: SabaBPC

SabaBPC (talk) 21:21, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) If what you state is true then the Dr. is not notable for inclusion without third party sources, see WP:EXISTENCE. - FlightTime (open channel) 21:32, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Apologies for not disclosing payment information.

Dear GSS,

Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention.

I was trying to get started in online freelancing work, and I found someone looking for help with Wikipedia editing. I didn't know about the payment rules, but it makes sense and I was stupid to accept the job. I just thought I'd be helping with editing. I made a page from the information I was given that followed Wikipedia guidelines. The person who hired me was angry and made me change everything to the way you see it now. Basically an ad.

I never wanted to lower the value of Wikipedia as a whole with this kind of work. I'm really sorry, and I understand if I am banned from editing. I have disclosed the payment information on my user page. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to rectify this.

@Hakimj: I've deleted the page nominated by GSS, but you are not blocked from editing. From what you have written above, I hope that you have learned from this. I see that you have made constructive edits elsewhere, but even so, if you post obvious promo or act as an undeclared paid editor again, it's very unlikely that you will get another chance Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:13, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Nomination of Rahul Mandal for deletion

This also means you can't keep re-directing the page and deleting previous edits. Is that understood? You need to invite feedback on your proposal to edit. How are people supposed to do this if you keep re-directing? HardB (talk) 07:47, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi, you keep putting 'notability' & COI tags on the SEARCH Foundation page, even though I've added extra information regarding notability and additional citations. Those tags may have been justified before, but I don't think they are anymore. Thanks. Locochoko (talk) 11:29, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Created Wikipedia page for Lucky Bisht but was declined by GSS

I have created wikipedia page for Lucky Bisht (Draft Link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lucky_Bisht) and included reference links i.e. coverage in leading news portals. It was declined by you multiple times. Last time I included the news exactly published on the portals which were rejected due to copyright issues. Admin suggested to rewrite the article in my own language and provide proper references. I tried writing it again in simple language and added necessary links.

How to get this wikipedia article approved and publish. Please help. 2405:204:2082:BCD7:6C20:EF85:8C26:957 (talk) 09:32, 28 November 2018 (UTC)BS

Regarding the article Rajdweep

This should be on Wikipedia. Because Rajdweep is a well known lyricist, journalist, script writer, playwright from Assam. The previous articles on him were deleted because those did not had proper references to support. But now with the article I gave proper references. It should not be moved to be draft. Please go through the reference links.

Valid sources and news articles have been included as references in the article. But it still has been nominated for deletion. Kindly assist me through the walkthrough process of preventing the deletion.

Thanks.-- Axomiya deka (talkcontribs)

@Axomiya deka: First, you need to stop posting this article directly in mainspace under this or any other name. The current sources do not establish notability and, most of them are not reliable so, you need to provide some reliable sources that talk about the subject directly and in details. GSS (talk|c|em) 14:15, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Request to move page Draft:Rajdweep to Rajdweep

Hi GSS Greetings! It has been observed that you have moved the page Rajdweep to Draft:Rajdweep. As I know Rajdweep is a talented scriptwriter who has already won various prestigious awards and recognitions in the arena. Recently he has won the Cinestaan- India'a biggest script contest juried by hon'ble Aamir Khan, Anjum Rajabali, Juhi Chaturvedi and Rajkumar Hirani. (you can find the details here https://scriptcontest.cinestaan.com/). He also scored for MTV Deewarist, Some Bollywood numbers (you may please find the details here https://www.imdb.com/name/nm7376968/?ref_=nv_sr_1).

He is a popular lyricist in Assamese music industry as well as bengali musics. It really deserves a article in Wikipedia about his works. Request you to move the page Draft:Rajdweep to Rajdweep please. Jamini.bargohain (talk) 06:36, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

Regarding article Mari Selvaraj

Hi GSS,

I would like to understand why you reverted my edit for the article on Mari Selvaraj ? I have added additional information with reference. I could not understand why individual name should redirect to an film page. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prabhunkl (talkcontribs) 16:46, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi GSS,

May I know why you reverted my changes in the page Mari Selvaraj today ? I like to get explanation please. Here is some reference in english https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/when-new-generation-creates-art-there-will-be-tremors-director-mari-selvaraj-82968 another one from India Today https://www.indiatoday.in/movies/regional-cinema/story/pariyerum-perumal-review-mari-selvaraj-film-is-disturbing-caste-drama-1351705-2018-09-28

@Prabhunkl: The subject does not meet their respective notability criteria and is not suitable for a stand-alone article. Please see WP:CREATIVE. GSS (talk|c|em) 03:25, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

GSS,

I checked the requirement for the individual page. Mari Selvaraj was an Assistant director in three movies with Ram_(director) and he have been credited for the same. And also Mari Selvaraj is an regular writer in Tamil weekly magazine Vikatan I have given reference along with that he published couple of books which is available in Amazon India websites. I am not sure what other qualification required per Wiki ?

That's not enough for a stand-alone article. He has only directed one films so far and there is no evidence of satisfying WP:AUTHOR. GSS (talk|c|em) 03:43, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Created Redirect from person page to company page

Hi, Can you please let me know why the person page is redirected to the company page. @Jjanhone: Thank you for the update and sorry the page wasn't in my watchlist and missed your reply on its talk page. I looked at the changes and to be honest it still sounds like written by someone close to it and I'm still not seeing in-depth coverage on the topic as required by WP:CORPDEPTH. There is continuous coverage in the news about the financial performance and business actions taken by the company. It's one of the biggest and most famous companies of the country, after all. I guarantee you there is no problem with notability and the tag should be removed. Sources establishing notability don't need to be cited in the article. I've no opinion about how the article is actually written (COI or POV). – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 04:00, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for looking at it Finnusertop, I have taken down the notability tag per your message above. GSS (talk|c|em) 04:14, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

Robert Rabiah page issues

Hello!

I've been editing the Robert Rabiah Wikipedia page post-deletion nomination and have tried my best to clean up the article. There was a lot of promotional rhetoric in the article when I first started to edit, but after the collaborative efforts of myself and a few other editors I felt like it had been sufficiently cleaned where I could remove the "paid editor" tag and keep the COI tags because the page currently shouldn't show any preference toward the subject of the article. However, this has made me a target. I've been accused of paid editing by an unregistered user that returns at different IP addresses and repeatedly reverts my edits. You are obviously an expert in the subject, and the IP user referenced you, so I'd like to ask what your say is on the status of the "paid editor" tag on the page, and if I can do anything to dispel claims of "paid editing" when I attempt to make cleaning edits to Wikipedia pages previously under AfD, which I plan to do more in the future.

Thank you so much for your time! WillPeppers (talk) 16:45, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Alan McDonald (screenwriter)

Hi, I noticed you blanked the page for Alan McDonald (screenwriter) for failing to meet the criteria for creative individuals. The screenwriter in question is a BAFTA nominated screenwriter which does meet the criteria as its somebody recognised by a major arts body. Can the page be returned? Thanks ChrisGFA (talk) 14:53, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

@ChrisGFA: The subject does not meet relevant notability criteria. The award nomination is an indication of importance but, the guideline explicitly requires multiple nominations. Please see WP:ANYBIO and WP:CREATIVE for more. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 15:08, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
@GSS: Had a look there at the guidelines. It could just pass under section 3 as the first film released under the reemergence of Orion Pictures since being resurrected by MGM Studios. ChrisGFA (talk) 15:20, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
ChrisGFA, nope. And, can you point me to your abiding by WP:DISCLOSE? Best, WBGconverse 15:54, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
@Winged Blades of Godric: My what? ChrisGFA (talk) 18:31, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
ChrisGFA, Given your user-page, I assume that you are Chris Quick of Glasgow Filmmakers Alliance or an impersonation-block would need to be imposed.
If my assumption is correct, do I need to spell out clearly as to how you are conflicted in pushing for articles about your industry-colleagues? WBGconverse 19:02, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
@Winged Blades of Godric: That is me and I take your point. I thought the page in question did meet the criteria given the bafta nomination and the fact the film had been bought by MGM. I'll wait till there is more development on this persons career. ChrisGFA (talk) 19:21, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.16 15 December 2018

Hello GSS,

Reviewer of the Year

This year's award for the Reviewer of the Year goes to Onel5969. Around on Wikipedia since 2011, their staggering number of 26,554 reviews over the past twelve months makes them, together with an additional total of 275,285 edits, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users.

Thanks are also extended for their work to JTtheOG (15,059 reviews), Boleyn (12,760 reviews), Cwmhiraeth (9,001 reviews), Semmendinger (8,440 reviews), PRehse (8,092 reviews), Arthistorian1977 (5,306 reviews), Abishe (4,153 reviews), Barkeep49 (4,016 reviews), and Elmidae (3,615 reviews).
Cwmhiraeth, Semmendinger, Barkeep49, and Elmidae have been New Page Reviewers for less than a year — Barkeep49 for only seven months, while Boleyn, with an edit count of 250,000 since she joined Wikipedia in 2008, has been a bastion of New Page Patrol for many years.

See also the list of top 100 reviewers.

Less good news, and an appeal for some help

The backlog is now approaching 5,000, and still rising. There are around 640 holders of the NPR flag, most of whom appear to be inactive. The 10% of the reviewers who do 90% of the work could do with some support especially as some of them are now taking a well deserved break.

Really good news - NPR wins the Community Wishlist Survey 2019

At #1 position, the Community Wishlist poll closed on 3 December with a resounding success for NPP, reminding the WMF and the volunteer communities just how critical NPP is to maintaining a clean encyclopedia and the need for improved tools to do it. A big 'thank you' to everyone who supported the NPP proposals. See the results.

Training video

Due to a number of changes having been made to the feed since this three-minute video was created, we have been asked by the WMF for feedback on the video with a view to getting it brought up to date to reflect the new features of the system. Please leave your comments here, particularly mentioning how helpful you find it for new reviewers.

Query

I findout that you tagged not reliable sources on Draft: Prakash Neupane. Could you remove non reliable sources & accept it? Azkord (talk) 14:24, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

I dont know well about those english sources you which you removed but bigul tv is independent registered national media of Nepal, have a look on it. Azkord (talk) 14:32, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

@Azkord: The website has no about us page, no information as to who is running the website and no indication as to where it's content come from. As such, it is not a reliable source. GSS (talk|c|em) 14:37, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Maybe you did not checked footer of the news site. They've provided everything like other Nepali sources (ex. Registration no & also they have indiacted that it runs through Bigul News Media Pvt.Ltd Nepal). Have a look on it. Azkord (talk) 14:44, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Etajakhabar source which you removed has also provided registration number and has indicated where it runs through, have a look on that too and if its acceptable for now than accept it. Azkord (talk) 14:54, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
It doesn't show anything and no Etajakhabar is not a reliable source. Anyone can create a website and register their business but it has nothing to do with reliability. Please see WP:RS for more. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:00, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
As per alexa Bigulnews tv is in top 10 rank of Nepal [1] any individual can't create website and make it into top 10. If you want screenshot about us and other sources of bigulnews which you asked i can provide i'm clearly seeing that things on footer of bigulnews.tv Azkord (talk) 15:08, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
you may ask any other Nepali experienced editor about that things of bigulnews i can agree with you on etajakhabar but i can't agree on bigulnews cause it's independent national media of Nepal. Azkord (talk) 15:11, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
This is what I see at the end of the page Copyrigh Bigul Media Pvt. Ltd 2018 | All Rights Reserved nothing else and I asked you to see WP:RS not Alexa. We don't decide reliability based on the registration number of Alexa rank the particular website in question must satisfy RS criteria. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:16, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Per your request i see RS criteria and i think website satisfy rs criteria. might be there is some issue with your laptop or else check once on the footer of the website from the phone. They've cleaely provided us page, information and the one who is running the news site. Azkord (talk) 15:28, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Found it and have restored the sources but it's an interview so, it's not really sufficient for establishing notability. GSS (talk|c|em) 16:45, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

But it's not an full interview. I think now article can be moved to mainspace cause it satisfy WP:MUSICBIO categories. Azkord (talk) 16:59, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

PharmaSeq

Hi GSS, you declined the creation of this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:PharmaSeq for lack of notability. I believe that some of the references that were included in the draft meet the WP:COMPANY requirements, and would like to know what needs to be changed to get this article published.

These are the references which I think meet the requirements:
- Editorial in Science Magazine: Service RF (2000) Chemists Unveil Molecular Wizardry in San Francisco, Science 288:5465, 425-427
- https://www.rfidjournal.com/articles/view?12034/3

Dear GSS I have searched news regarding Mr. Goswami and find news at https://hindi.news18.com/news/madhya-pradesh/chhatarpur-audio-book-on-premchand-stories-add-in-apple-store-1207857.html and https://www.patrika.com/chhatarpur-news/munshi-premchands-120-stories-audio-book-on-apple-app-store-hindi-news-1-2139449/

These news are in Hindi Language so might be english people are unable to recognise as news.

When I searched for Sameer Goswami I found many links which indicate his work towards storytelling. I searched his mobile number on his blog and called him and reveal more information about him.

I thought this was enough for creating a page of Sameer Goswami. Gradually the information shall be added as soon as it gets spread on net.

I asked him why he is not in newspaper he said that his news get published in newspaper which are not online that is why his work is, as news, not available on net.

This was my opinion to keep the article undeleted.

Rest I leave to your wisdom and your fine sense of judgment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sailendrasing (talkcontribs) 02:44, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

Why my three notable articles are drafted?

See My three articles are drafted?

a) Ajay Shukla - He is chief editor (Multimedia) of ITV Network. b) Why India News Haryana is drafted (It is the only regional channel) that is listed among national news channels. c) EverlyWell - It is the company that is being initiated by world champion and having featured on ABC show, even Forbes has featured the agency? --Neerajmadhuria72014 (talk) 05:39, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

@Neerajmadhuria72014: Ajay Shukla has no independent notability and the notability of EverlyWell is questionable. You also appear to have a conflict of interest which you need to disclose. Please see WP:PAID and WP:COI for more. GSS (talk|c|em) 05:46, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
I am not having connected or paid with both of them. I am making my Wikipedia profile strong. I want to start a project on Wikipedia associated for Journalists and chief editors across India. See it's also important for a senior journalists, TV show host etc.
@talk what area of conflict? I am from Health Industry and see I have revealed my identity. I am pharmacist and dietitian and EverlyWell is notable in health Industry after being listed by Forbes. And Ajay Shukla is TV host and chief editor. He is dominating TV host who is known for asking straight questions from politicians and cabinet Ministers. I don't know what extra notability you want? Please explain and teach me how to create Wikipedia project.
@Neerajmadhuria72014: As I said earlier Ajay Shukla is not independently notable and the Forbes piece for EverlyWell is from a contributor, which would not normally be considered independent or reliable as per WP:RSP. Also, the images you uploaded lacks permission evidence so, please follow the instruction that I posted on your talk page GSS (talk|c|em) 16:07, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of Priyanka Jawalkar

Hi there, can you explain the process you followed for the deletion of Priyanka Jawalkar and redirect to Taxiwaala? From memory, I objected to a PROD and removed the PROD tag. You have subsequently deleted the article. As I understand the PROD process, if an editor objects to a PROD but another editor still supports deletion, then the next step is to list the article as AfD. You haven't done this, you have deleted the article. Can you show me the policy which you are following? TIA. MurielMary (talk) 09:12, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

@MurielMary: Please see WP:ATD. The subject clearly fails WP:NACTOR. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 09:15, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for that reference. As per the policy, "content issues should be discussed at the relevant talk page". Are you able to restore the article on Jawalkar so that issues can be discussed, thanks. MurielMary (talk) 09:45, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
I'm sorry MurielMary but, if you believe that the subject meets the relevant notability criteria (WP:NACTOR) and should have a stand-alone article you can start a discussion at the article talk page per WP:ATD-R but before that please see the similar case such as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Janhvi Kapoor. Cheers, GSS (talk|c|em) 10:30, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

@GSS: I can than submit it for approval correct? I believe it passes notability and that notability is not inherited so it should be a live page. If that is the correct procedure please do that. Ajay Shukla

Just for completeness, I didn't move Ajay Shukla into article space. I think that there may be undisclosed paid editing, but that is only my opinion. I have listed the former article (which you made into a redirect) and a few others at COIN. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:28, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Thank you Robert McClenon, that was the main reason for moving these articles into draftspace and you might be interested to see this post that Shukla posted (two days after the page was created) on their Facebook. The subject is not independently notable and I doubt the author will definitely remove the redirect so is it possible to protect it? GSS (talk|c|em) 03:47, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
Yes. If they revert the redirection, it goes to AFD. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:29, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
He already moved it back to draftspace. GSS (talk|c|em) 05:46, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Please add paid editing evidence to the talk page of CarsGuide per site best practices, or else you'll not only be unfairly smearing all the editors who have worked on the article, but you will discourage future editing as well. Cheers. TechnoTalk (talk) 18:06, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

@TechnoTalk: there is a disclosure at Talk:CarsGuide, made by a paid editor.--SamHolt6 (talk) 20:56, 10 January 2019 (UTC)
@SamHolt6:Thanks for letting me know. The disclosure wasn't there when I first visited the talk page. If the paid editor hasn't made the necessary disclosure, the tagger should put info on the talk page to substantiate the tag, and start the related discussion mentioned in the tag text. If I see an article tagged for COI or paid editing and can't tell who the offending editor is, I usually delete the tag. Otherwise, editing the article becomes anathema. Declined speedy deletion nomination of Jennifer Tolhurst

Hello GSS. I have declined your speedy deletion nomination of Jennifer Tolhurst as an unambiguous copyright infringement under CSD G12. That criterion did not apply because the text is licensed under the UK Open Government License v.3.0. Please don't let this discourage you. Speedy deletion work is so important and getting rid of copyvios is in my view the most important part of that work. Just try to glance at the bottom of the source page to see if the content might actually bear a suitable free license. It won't 99% of the time of course. Pages by Paid Editors, and Other Troublesome Pages

Please do not draftify a page more than once, even if it is undersourced or paid editing or otherwise should not be in article space. Draftifying a page more than once is move-warring, and is just as disruptive as the move to article space more than once by the proponent is. Please take such pages to Articles for Deletion instead. As you have seen, repeated draftification or other move-warring not only divides the Wikipedia community but divides the community of honest editors who oppose paid editing. Robert McClenon (talk) 06:59, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks and noted. I can understand the situation but it sounds like we are giving more wings to paid editors by allowing them to move their article back to mainspace and then stay in peace. GSS (talk|c|em) 07:39, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
User:GSS - I understand your concern, but if a paid editor is willing to promote a paid article more than once, is there any reason to think that demoting (draftifying) it more than once will finalize its status? If you demote an article a second time, then please nominate it for deletion from draft space, or nominate it for deletion from article space when it is promoted a second or third time. Move-warring is disruptive, and it doesn't result in a win. Please. Don't just move-war. We "give more wings" to them just as much by sinking to their level and move-warring as we would by leaving their spam in article space. Getting rid of spam is one of the reasons why we have XFD. Those Who Inspire Ltd

Paid editing - Those Who Inspire Ltd.

Hello GSS. This is the reply to your message left on my talk page.

Kindly allow me to share with you that I am not paid by anyone to create the small article for Those Who Inspire. As explained to Victor as well, I am a young person who has been following Those Who Inspire for years. Thanks to them I found some of the most valuable mentors I could ever have. I think this entry on wiki is just a means to share with more people the work done by this organisation. Therefore, I do not understand why it is considered as promotional... for example, as this is the first time I am creating an article from scratch, I checked the entry of Ted Talks... why is the entry of Those Who Inspire so different and promotional from the one of Ted Talk?

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nicoleta1992 (talkcontribs) 08:43, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Rishabh Dubey

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rishabh_Dubey

Hello GSS Sir! I am new to Wikipedia and represent author Rishabh Dubey. Though, my presence here is completely unbiased and neutral. The earlier article was created by an amateur editor, also part of Rishabh's team, and it went unnoticed and unchecked by us. The objective of having a wikipedia page for Rishabh now is not at all promotional or to advertise anything. It is just to create an informative medium for all enquiring about him. He has been featured as the youngest published novelist of India, and has struggled to cross all the barriers of Age and accessibility to create a name for himself in the digital as well as print world. You can go through the references again Sir. As far as notability is concerned, there are various age-restricted said or unsaid barriers to awards. For example, Sahitya Bhushan is not conferred to people younger than 60 Years of Age as it is an unsaid norm to honour the veterans first. Nevertheless, like you, I consider wikipedia as an unbiased and neutral medium for information. The feat Rishabh has achieved at such a young age counts as notability itself. I hereby also add a formal apology on behalf of the creator of the said article to Wikipedia. The creation of informative content should be monitored. Thereby, I have removed any sentence even edging on promotional or commendation value. Also, there weren't any undeclared payments in the said creation which was done without the knowledge of Rishabh or his management team. It came to our notice when we saw the changes in the Google Knowledge Panel, which were already being modified on request due to his recent book-launch. Nevertheless, by the time we saw a backlink to Wikipedia, the article was already shifted to drafts. On reading the draft, I immediately grasped the errors which caused a disruption of conformity to protocols on this domain. Please assess the changes made to the article and analyse it considering a young entrepreneur who is already fighting an age-specific criticism in his field on various fronts. There are multiple other references which I would keep updating myself after due review. If possible, it is a heartfelt request that you assess Rishabh and his work in your personal capacity. Thank You for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AmandaRex (talkcontribs) 11:49, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi GSS, I am not being directly or indirectly compensated for my edits. So far I have only contributed 2 entries, both on subjects of particular interest to me. Deletion of Vijay Kalvani

Hello, respected Sir/Ma'am

Mr. Vijay Kalvani has been named on Forbes celebrity list 2015 , he has been part of several television shows and also a couple of films.

I think Forbes is a pretty good reliable source.

Please let me know your take on that.

Thank you very much. Mortalrahu (talk) 17:13, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

Not according to the citation given. There's a Vijay Kalwani (notice the different spelling) listed as nominated, but anyone can be nominated. Arguably, a person who was one of the 100 chosen might be notable (but, probably that alone wouldn't be enough), but just nominated? No. I could be nominated and I don't even live in India, nor am I Indian or a celebrity. --Yamla (talk) 17:44, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

DMCC page edits

Hi GSS,

thanks for your comments on the DMCC page. I work with DMCC and they have an issue with their wiki page since November as they someone was asked to go in and update old information and inadvertently added copy that was then tagged as promo/advertising content.

Please can you advise what needs to be done to remove the tags while also having the latest information on the page?

I've been through and added the relevant citations, I've removed the promo copy and cleaned up to comply with policies.

FYI edits made by 94.200.47.110 are also mine.

Would it be possible to revert to this version and I can then suggest some edits? - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dubai_Multi_Commodities_Centre&oldid=863194937 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phoenixfrom1973 (talkcontribs) 07:00, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

I have edited the copy to align from NPOV and all relevant citations are included. If you feel that the text is still not NPOV compliant and further citations are needed, then can you please let me know which text and where citations are requirted and I will propose edits accordingly.

User:27.106.115.131 has also made edits aligned with NPOV, but you rolled those back. Paid contribution was disclosed as part of the edits.

First of all, COI and paid editors are not allowed to edit affected articles directly, but they can propose changes on article talk pages instead. The article reads like a corporate profile than an encyclopedia entry and the source you added here wasn't reliable. The 3rd, 4th and 5th section lacks inline citations.

GSS (talk|c|em) 07:31, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Have added citations as requested and removed promotional sounding copy as directed. Have proposed these changes on the article talk page as you instructed. Please advise if any additional issues.

Many thanks. Robert

@Phoenixfrom1973: I know I personally learn best by example, so I tried to make some changes as an example edit. I'm not willing to spend more time sprucing up the article because I have no interest in the subject. However, I do have an interest in the quality of this encyclopedia. GSS is right to warn you about COI and paid editing; it's a thorny subject on a website that purportedly aggregates notable content from a neutral standpoint backed by reliable, third-party sources (again, as GSS pointed out earlier, see WP:NPOV and WP:V). Airplaneman 08:48, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Ramvir_(singer) and Tom Coleman (fitness model)

Hi GSS, first of all thank you for reviewing the articles I recently submitted. Unfortunately both of the articles I submitted has been moved to draft space. However I did not lose hope and will try to make the articles better and try to move it to main space. I would really appreciate if you please put some light on how I should improve these articles before I submit it to AFC. Thank you in advance Sumitpatelster (talk) 18:01, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

As per Wikipedia's 'golden rule' the subject of an article needs multiple independent, reliable sources that talk about the subject in-depth. So you need to provide some reliable sources that are independent of the subject and submit it for a review once you are done. Please don't move it back to mainspace yourself until you get a second opinion as to whether it is ready for article space. GSS (talk|c|em) 02:45, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi, you have asked me to add more references to the articles. I added a lot of references to Tom Coleman's page, still it has been decline by you without leaving any comment? Did you see those references? What else I can add or remove? Could you please suggest. Waiting for your reply. Sumitpatelster (talk) 04:31, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Very interested to have a discussion about where the line lies on notability, but I think Passi falls on the side of notability -- if anything because he appears notable enough for The Sunday Times, Drapers, etc, to publish personal reporting. ScepticalChymist (talk) 13:12, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi GSS, I have reverted Nitin Passi, and put up a flag for notability to encourage discussion. Argument for notability is his contributions / profile within the UK fashion industry. Feel merit is accorded from the third guideline from WO:BIO, ie, "The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field." Given that he founded -- and continues to run -- probably the fast growing fashion company in the UK, I think it is didficult not to qualify on that criteria. He also have a substantial media presence. Added a notability tag to encourage debate / discussion. ScepticalChymist (talk) 11:40, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

SPI behavior diff

Can you please take a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Harsh7agl and compare the behavior of this suspect. Asking you since you had filed other cases on this user. the admin wants some diff to go ahead. regards. --DBigXray 06:24, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

@DBigXray: Take a look at this and this (note the infobox) and I guess we have WorkPKG (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) as well see this. GSS (talk|c|em) 07:55, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
Indeed, this is obvious, specially the infobox layout. Please post this on the SPI page. --DBigXray 08:19, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
Working on it. GSS (talk|c|em) 08:20, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Combinatorial chemistry

Hi. You removed images I uploaded to the Combinatorial Chemistry article because of your concern that they were not original creations. In fact, the content comes from published articles (as referenced) but the images were created by me for the purpose of addition to the article. I would like you to revert the deletion. Let me know if you have any questions.- AWCzarnik (talk) 06:18, 21 February 2019 (UTC)

Wrong Thought Process

There is no financial stake process. I earn more than what people can offer me for creating an article here. Please don't give me that blame. You might be an admin. I respect you for that. But, please don't say things which you don't know. I help people. That's the end of the it. You require more citations, resources, I will help you with that.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suryasankarroy (talkcontribs) 18:08, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

@Suryasankarroy: Thank you for responding. Do you know "Krishnendu Chatterjee" personally? GSS (talk|c|em) 05:40, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
Yes sir. That is the reason I am creating it. I have submitted an email to OTRS but I have asked him to drop an email as well for any copyright issues. There is no monetary involvement here. If you need further clarification, do let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suryasankarroy (talkcontribs) 19:31, 20 February 2019 (UTC)

I am NOT A PAID EDITOR OR WHATSOEVER! Now, you are annoying me with your words! Are you from India? No, Are you from West Bengal India? No! Then, how would you know about the people living here? Please excuse me. If I get paid for any wikipedia article ever, I will mention that. Thank you and have a nice day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suryasankarroy (talkcontribs) 12:13, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

Please Remove the Move Protection Block and then Move Draft:Dj Goz page back to Dj Goz in the Article Namespace

Hi GSS,

I created an article about this artist/producer known as "Dj Goz" that i saw perform a couple of years ago when i visited the university of Idaho. I then did some research to learn more about him, liked what he has done for other artists in Idaho and in Africa, and wanted to write an article about him to let the world know about him and his work.

I am not directly or indirectly being compensated by him or anyone on his behalf, i just want to share this article with the world.

Please remove the block and publish the oage in the Article namespace. I provided the references about him and citations that i have been able to gather so far, for notability, and i am sure other people will add more as they find the article about him.

Thank you for your understanding and sorry for the confusion.

Best Regards, — Preceding unsigned comment added by GreatMagOBI (talkcontribs) 06:30, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I'm very much Curious about wikipedia editing & creating clean articles, and also prevent getting blocked. I want to contribute to wikipedia for India. I'm interested in learning it from you. Can you please give me your email so that we can probably talk over there? Or here is mine (akshayzine@icloud.com) I want learn safe & correct editing so that no vandalism or unwanted articles would get created. Iamzine13 (talk) 18:01, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Merit Leighton

I see you move the page I created to draft. Can you explain why you did that? I also saw a message saying I am a paid editor, this is totally untrue and I challenge you to prove it. Merit Leighton is very notable considering the roles she has played in award winning films/tv shows. Why will you suggest that I am a paid editor. Is Wikipedia not a place for information anymore? Kindly take it back to mainspaceLaboj (talk) 12:03, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

@Laboj: Please see my message on your talk page to know why I draftified your article, and regarding paid editing can you please explain where did you get this image from? Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 12:12, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
