None Admin Closure

Would you please reconsider your none-admin closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/María Sáez de Vernet. I don't believe this meets the criteria of a none admin closure since most of the keep votes all come from the same wikiproject and resulted from lobbying there. WCMemail 06:57, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

@Wee Curry Monster: I'm sorry, but out of all keep voters six of them were natural participant (non WiR members) who I believe were not aware of this thread and all of them are experienced users with good knowledge of our notability guidelines, but if you believe it was my mistake you can ask an uninvolved admin to review. Regards, GSS (talk|c|em) 08:13, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
For what it's worth, the debate was mostly pathetic and overall borderline (contrary to the head count) and despite the fact that folks at WIR have a general inclination to throw our notability guidelines for a toss and twitch guidelines to their own way (Sitush has some experience in this regards....), from the discussion that happened, anything other than keep will be a wild supervote.WBGconverse 08:42, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
The folks at WIR seem to care more about metrics and numbers than article quality and don't give a monkey's about notability. But you seem to have missed the comment by AlanScotWalker, which is the main reason I asked you to reconsider. WCMemail 12:00, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
No, I didn't, but my closure was based on the consensus that the subject in question is independently notable. GSS (talk|c|em) 14:31, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
[1] Do you have any objection to adding that comment? WCMemail 14:42, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
We generally don't add this kind of comments when we reached a clear consensus, so I'm sorry but as you already asked Nick-D to review I think it's better to let him decide. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 16:46, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

Hello

Hey, this was to inform you that my edits are not test edits. This article is a work in progress. Sources and information is being added continuously. It does follow the Wikipedia rules as well. Thank you.

First of all, you must see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Janhvi Kapoor to understand why it was deleted and then if you have something new and wish to work on this subject you should use your userspace or AfC draft. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:30, 12 August 2018 (UTC)

Page deletion

Hi GSS, this is Aritra Sanyal. this is regarding the pages of Judhajit Bagchi and Ranadeep Bhattacharyya. I had seen your comments and had done some changes in the pages to rectify them. And since the comments will not disappear until they are removed personally thats why I had removed them. I am sorry for that, I shouldn't have. To answer a few questions that you have raised. I follow their work and they have been winning awards for their great films for a long time now. Only when they became the FIRST filmmakers from India to win the prestigious Cannes Dolphin in 2015 I thought of making a wikipedia page for them. I think they deserve wikipedia page as they have again won the Cannes Dolphin again in 2016. They are not only the only filmmakers to win it first but also consecutively for two years. Other than that they keep making India proud by several award winning works. I just updated the pages after I came to know that their recent work has won so many awards again. Both the pages contents are almost similar as all the information I have of them are from the films that they have done and the newspaper articles. They work together and since I don't know them personally I don't know what different contents to write about them. I have just mentioned about their work in the articles. If it is still sounding advertising then I will reframe it. I am requesting you to reconsider your thoughts regarding the same as I strongly feel that they deserve wikipedia pages for their achievements. Kindly reconsider your views and let the pages stay. Thanks for your time. Aritrasanyal (talk)

The articles were moved to draftspace by Winged Blades of Godric per WP:COIEDIT after my comment here. As you said in your comment above that you don't have any connection with the subjects of your articles, but if you don't mind can I know how you get these images you uploaded as own work? and do you have any sources to support their date of birth and "early life" section? Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:35, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. I had got these images from the newspaper articles and their social media pages. These are not my own work. When I first made the pages I didn't know how to go ahead with the creative commons claims. But later when I got query about Ranadeep Bhattacharyya's image then I figured it out and uploaded another image with proper sources as many of their images are also available on the respective award sites. But for other images I was not marked wrong so I didn't change them. Their early life information also I had gathered from their social media page. But after I made Sandeep Singh's page I didn't find much info about him and stopped updating his page. Regarding Ranadeep and Judhajit's page I follow about their work and whatever information I am able to gather about them I quickly validate with the award websites and give the citation. As I had mentioned in my previous comment that they are the only filmmakers from India to win the prestigious Cannes Dolphin twice in a row along with other achievements they deserve a wikipedia page. If you recommend I will remove the early life section and the page can be about their achievements. I recently read another article about them regarding their recent film in the DNA newspaper. But since I don't have any other information about this particular work so I didn't update that on the page. I was waiting for more informations regarding the same to update. I hope this answers all your questions. If you want any more queries kindly let me know. Again thank you for your time and reply. Aritrasanyal (talk)
@Artrasanyal: Well before asking you this question I searched for the images and claims you made in the early life section on their social media profiles, websites and also on the respective award sites for verification but I found nothing so can you please provide some links where you saw these images and their date of birth etc. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 06:53, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
Dear GSS, thank you for your reply. REGARDING IMAGES USED:- This image of Judhajit Bagchi is available in the Stevie award page. I googled it again. Image of Sandeep Singh Bedi is also there. Regarding Ranadeep Bhattacharyya's image I am unable to find it now. I think I had downloaded it from his whatsapp profile pic which has now changed. REGARDING EARLY LIFE:- As I can see they have hidden their date of birth from their facebook page which was earlier open. The other details of Judhajit Bagchi that I have mentioned are on his facebook page, but spelling of his name is Yudhajit Bagchi. For Ranadeep Bhattacharyya other than facebook another source of the early life for me was Linkedin which has everything I had mentioned in the wikipedia page. Regarding Sandeep Singh Bedi's page, as I had mentioned earlier, when I had written the article there was a different facebook page which I can't find now. Now he has a facebook page in the name of Ricky Singh Bedi, where nothing is updated. So I am unable to provide you anything about him. Aritrasanyal (talk)
I'm sorry but it's really hard to believe that you don't have any connection with any of the people you have written about. In your comment above you said that you downloaded this image from Bhattacharyya's WhatsApp profile which means you have their personal contact number which is fine since it's publicly available but how you know when and where it was taken? also, do you use, or have you used, any other accounts on Wikipedia? GSS (talk|c|em) 18:09, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
@GSS: Hi, thanks for your reply. The same image was also there on facebook which I can't find now because of the change of the page's privacy policy. The date & location was mentioned there. But since I couldn't download it from there I downloaded from whatsapp. I am unable to prove my point since I can't access the pic anymore. Also I didn't understand what you mean by "do you use, or have you used, any other accounts on Wikipedia?". Also reading your comment that it's really hard for you to believe that I don't have any connection with these people I went through this page Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions. Keeping the content of this page in mind I will want to say that I have already proved that none of the references are fictitious or based on my belief system. I also don't know in wikipedia if things work on personal belief of the admins. Here the whole question is about my integrity which I have proven with facts. Nothing I have mentioned in the page which is strictly available to me. The last update on the pages that I did was their recent awards which I got the information from their website. I even went to individual awards sites and gave references following wikipedia norms. There are valid achievements by them and all I wanted to do was put forward the same. Some of things that i have failed to provide proof of I will remove them from the page. If you notice I have stopped updating Sandeep Singh Bedi's page as I couldn't find anything about him later on. Again to mention, I read about their latest short film in DNA newspaper and wanted to update about the same and started researching. I didn't find anything about the same other than this article so I didn't update it. Instead I found information about their last film and updated. Aritrasanyal (talk)
Dear GSS, Happy Independence Day. I was expecting some kind of positive response from your side. Aritrasanyal (talk)
Hi @GSS:, how are you? I am expecting some response from your side. I hope you will allow me to edit the pages. Thanks Aritrasanyal (talk)

@Aritrasanyal: I'm fine, and I hope so are you. Actually, I'm not convinced with your explanation above, and this matter is being discussed at the conflict of interest noticeboard where you can comment in your defence. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 09:42, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi GSS, thanks for reply. I will discuss the matter at the conflict of interest noticeboard. Thanks for your help. Aritrasanyal (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:42, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Cleanup of article Tarun Sharma

Hi GSS, I had removed external links and filtered text in an article called Tarun Sharma to make it more neutral in tone. You have left me message saying that my contribution is unconstructive. Can you please let me know what I did wrong? Thanks. Ricardoww (talk) 10:49, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

Can you please explain the reason for removing {{UDP}} and {{advert}} tags? Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 10:56, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
I was reading up about the clean up process. So it was mentioned that the tags should be removed if the reason listed is recertified. So I went through the text, removed content which sounded promotional and removed the external links to his website. I thought I had resolved the issue so I removed the tags. Did I go wrong somewhere? Thanks. Your feedback will help me improve. Ricardoww (talk) 12:17, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

Shelly Chopra Dhar

Why you removed the article Shelly Chopra Dhar. It is not too soon for creating the articles. I have provided all valid references. If you consider Shelly Chopra Dhar to be too soon, then why not Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. Risu43 (talk) 08:27, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

I am expecting a reply from your end. Risu43 (talk) 08:12, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

@Risu43: The subject has directed only one film so far and the current sources are not enough to meet WP:FILMMAKER or WP:GNG standard at this time so I redirected it to his film per WP:ATD-R. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 09:36, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

Sakkir Madathil Redirecting

Hi I don't know why Sakkir Madathil article Keep redirecting, it was 3 years old article, I thought Wikipedia article its the Data contribution, I didn't put any wrong information or misleading information, I just trying to contribute things I know, I think I put all the relevant reference also, now I am wrongly accused "paid editor", I edited everything with facts, that I am sure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Navasuv (talkcontribs) 12:01, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

@Navasuv: There is some evidence that confirms you are in violation of WP:COIEDIT and likely WP:PAID which you should disclose on your userpage and then follow those guidelines carefully. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 13:28, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

draft:fake obsession

Whats the reason for this? "This article may have been created or edited in return for undisclosed payments, a violation of Wikipedia's terms of use. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies." This is 100% not true, everything there is my own work..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by GUY7ON (talkcontribs) 07:59, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

@GUY7ON: Do you have any connection whatsoever (family, friend, employed) to this band that may cause a conflict of interest? Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 08:22, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi GSS

Thanks for your reply, i am completely independent from the band. I have learnt a lot over the last week about wikipedia and its guidelines for inclusion, therefore i have started a draft page so as i can slowly improve the article to put forward through the article creation process for review when i feel it meets the criteria. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GUY7ON (talkcontribs) 08:57, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

@GUY7ON: Thank you for disclosing your conflict of interest, I have changed the UDP tag to COI and added a declaration on your behalf on the talk page of the draft. You'll need to add {{UserboxCOI|1=Draft:Fake Obsession}} to your user page. For more please see WP:DISCLOSE. GSS (talk|c|em) 09:22, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi GSS, the revision in Ashutosh (Politician) including moving the page to Ashutosh (Journalist) was done with the permission of Ashutosh himself who doesn't want to be called a politician as he has decided to return to journalism. The image too was changed as per his desire. Please consider reverting to changes effected by me and Ashutosh himself.

It may be noted that Ashutosh has resigned from Aam Aadmi Party in August 2018. [1] Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nirendra.nagar (talkcontribs) 02:22, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

Greighwolfe WP:Paid

Hi GSS

Thanks for flagging my first article as possible WP:PAID - You have clearly a wealth of experience and have seen this a lot. I appreciate it's difficult with living persons to look like they are using wikipedia for promotion, but I haven't been paid to do this at all. I'm not sure how I would be able to provide evidence that I'm not getting paid though?

I am a fan of his music and I wanted to write about him as my attempt at publishing my first article.

I have read through the WP:paid help pages etc. but I can't really find what I'm supposed to do to appeal this? Could you help and explain to me what I would need to do to revert this page back to being live?

Kind Regards

Benjamin

For clarification - I also don't know the person or friends or family. I met him once at one of his shows back in 2014 and have followed his career. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Powdernplot (talkcontribs) 09:14, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

KA Paul

Hi there, KA Paul launched his party on October 5, 2008 and this source clearly says that. This doesn't violate NPOV in anyway. Please correct me if I am wrong. Sharkslayer87 (talk) 17:44, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

You cannot leave a statement without attributing it to who said it. That is not violation of NPOV. Please stop reverting my edits and I advise you to read NPOV thoroughly. The source clearly states that it was Paul who said those statements. Sharkslayer87 (talk) 18:26, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

When you remove sources, it is not simply enough to say that they are unreliable. You should give a clear reason why you think they are unreliable. Sharkslayer87 (talk) 18:29, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Seriously? I'm not going to violate WP:3RR unlike you but you must be aware of what you are doing. See WP:RS for more. GSS (talk|c|em) 18:30, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
Please let me know if you believe that any of my edits are not constructive. I am open to correcting myself. I have only added proper sourced information and I have not introuced any POV. I don't mean to edit war. Sharkslayer87 (talk) 18:40, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Hey GSS, I didn't mean to start or engage in an Edit war on the aforementioned page. Seems like was just a massive misunderstanding on my part. Apologies for that! However, I did cite a newspaper article on the award nomination story.

Hi. You redirected the page Bhaagte Raho (film) to Rajpal Yadav saying that it doesn't satisfy WP:NF. Again you redirected it saying that the sources are not verifying release date. If the article has no any source verifying the release date then you should remove the date not the full article. The film is fully notable as I goggled it a lot of times. Just search the notability of the film on Google and don't be personal with any of the article. GPWIKI 67 talk 14:32, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

@Gpwiki 67: As I said in my edit summary you need to read WP:NFF not WP:NF which clearly state that films that have not been confirmed by reliable sources to have commenced principal photography should not have their own articles. GSS (talk|c|em) 09:08, 7 September 2018 (UTC)
Hi.. Hope you are well GSS. Why don't you google the notability of the movie Bhaagte Raho. I read WP:NFF. The article has all the sources which should be on Wikipedia article of the movie. The movie has the notable source about its principal photography, it has also the reliable sources about its release date. All the things are satisfying WP:NFF. I saw a lot of upcoming films which even have not any source about their principal photography still they have Wikipedia article. Go to Google and properly check the reliable sources and the notability of the movie and please make it back with the details. Thank You. GPWIKI 67 talk 13:40, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
@Gpwiki 67: As I said in my edit summary NFF is not only about principal photography and there is no evidence when this film going to hit the theatres. GSS (talk|c|em) 08:26, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018

Hello GSS, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.

Project news
As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.
Other
Moving to Draft and Page Mover
  • Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
  • If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
  • Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
  • The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
  • The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.
List of other useful scripts for New Page Reviewing

  • Twinkle provides a lot of the same functionality as the page curation tools, and some reviewers prefer to use the Twinkle tools for some/all tasks. It can be activated simply in the gadgets section of 'preferences'. There are also a lot of options available at the Twinkle preferences panel after you install the gadget.
  • In terms of other gadgets for NPR, HotCat is worth turning on. It allows you to easily add, remove, and change categories on a page, with name suggestions.
  • MoreMenu also adds a bunch of very useful links for diagnosing and fixing page issues.
  • User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js(info): Installing scripts doesn't have to be complicated. Go to your common.js and copy importScript( 'User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js' ); into an empty line, now you can install all other scripts with the click of a button from the script page! (Note you need to be at the ".js" page for the script for the install button to appear, not the information page)
  • User:TheJosh/Scripts/NewPagePatrol.js(info): Creates a scrolling new pages list at the left side of the page. You can change the number of pages shown by adding the following to the next line on your common.js page (immediately after the line importing this script): npp_num_pages=20; (Recommended 20, but you can use any number from 1 to 50).
  • User:Primefac/revdel.js(info): Is requesting revdel complicated and time consuming? This script helps simplify the process. Just have the Copyvio source URL and go to the history page and collect your diff IDs and you can drop them into the script Popups and it will create a revdel request for you.
  • User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js(info): Creates a "Page Curation" link to Special:NewPagesFeed up near your sandbox link.
  • User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/deletionFinder.js: Creates links next to the title of each page which show up if it has been previously deleted or nominated for deletion.
  • User:Evad37/rater.js(info): A fantastic tool for adding WikiProject templates to article talk pages. If you add: rater_autostartNamespaces = 0; to the next line on your common.js, the prompt will pop up automatically if a page has no Wikiproject templates on the talk page (note: this can be a bit annoying if you review redirects or dab pages commonly).

Conflict of interest

Hi GSS,

I don't have any external relationship with the company. I had some references so i created that page.

Thank You.

Reinvoking a deleted page

Hi GSS,

While I was recently trying to reinstate a deleted page, you noted that it was still 'too soon.' Specifically, you said that "That do not make her passes WP:NACTOR, If you want to work on this please use draftspace and submit it for a reveiw." Here is the log:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Janhvi_Kapoor&action=history

However, I do not understand how it doesn't make her pass WP:NACTOR. She has one major film to her credit Dhadak, and is in the process of signing another film. Please clarify exactly what more criteria she needs? Her co-star in that movie, Ishaan Khatter, already has his own page and he has only acted in two films. ONE film is ALL that is needed, as per the WP:NYA criteria, to have her own page. Another criteria that is met is that the actor "Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following." Janhvi has this, as she has been a fan favorite amongst teenagers for a while now, and is considered one of the most popular young stars. There is no reason for her page to be kept locked any longer, and I should not have to use a draftspace for it to be reviewed. I will submit the page as a request for undeletion, instead. Thank you and looking forward to hearing your logic as to why she does not pass WP:NACTOR. Thanks.

Rush922 (talk) 09:09, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

WP:NACTOR states that a subject is deemed notable when they have participated in "multiple" notable productions (generally more than two) and she has only worked in one film so far and you must be aware that the article was deleted after a discussion so if you don't want to create a draft it's better to use the article talk page to discuss. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 10:33, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
You say she needs multiple films, but WP:NYA directly refutes that logic with an example with Paris Jackson:
"A good example of this is Paris Jackson, as seen at this Articles for Deletion discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paris Katherine Jackson. At the time of the discussion, she had been announced as the star of a film that would be released a year after – however, the film had not actually been released yet. If or when the film is released, and if Jackson is the star of the film, she likely will merit an article, but not until then."
This is in regards to Paris' FIRST film - and it states that as soon as it is released, she will merit her own page. Jahnvi is in this EXACT situation, and has MET that criteria (her film Dhadak just released this past July)!
Also, if you are going to apply that logic, then it doesn't make sense because her Dhadak co-star, Ishaan Khatter, also had a page created after his FIRST film, and NOBODY had a problem with that. Look at his page's revision history: sorted by 'oldest' -
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ishaan_Khatter&dir=prev&action=history
You will see that they added the page soon after his film 'Beyond the Clouds' released, and everyone accepted it. Thus he only had ONE major starring role to his credit, and there was no issue.
Also, in pointing out the first rule of WP:NACTOR (which is a Notability rule), that she needs to have "multiple" notable productions, you forgot the rule stated in WP:NYA that states that the Notability rules do not ALL need to be followed, but at least ONE should be ("but if an actor cannot meet at least one of them, it is pretty much TOO SOON for an article to be considered.")
I submit the second rule for WP:NACTOR, which is: "2. Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following."
It is common knowledge in India that Janhvi Kapoor has been a media darling since her late teens, and has a huge fan base among teenagers and young adults. I'm sure that's one of the reasons why Nykaa brand cosmetics chose her to be their brand ambassador recently. Therefore, Janhvi DOES fit at least ONE of the notability rules, aside from the fact that she has had her own film (which is good enough in the Paris Jackson example for WP:NYA!), so I believe she counts as notable.
As for Janhvi's page being the topic of a discussion, this was probably the case because she had been selected as the cover of Vogue Magazine by June 2018, but she still had not done her first film and thus wasn't a person of significance. The controversial edits by people caused its deletion. I can understand that. But she HAS done her first film now, is brand ambassador for the makeup brand Nykaa, is a fashion icon for her large fan following and continues to do many interviews with reputed news outlets. Common sense says she is a noteworthy person deserving of her own page - this doesn't even merit a discussion because it is not ambiguous, it is clear for anyone to see.
Rush922 (talk) 11:10, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
Maybe @Johnpacklambert, L3X1, and Winged Blades of Godric: can reply you on this. GSS (talk|c|em) 11:15, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
Rush922,
TOOSOON is an essay (and quasi-poorly written, on top of that) and that was not a reason for reversion of your edits.Neither is that any qualifier/supplement of our notability-guidelines.So, I fail to gauge as to why you seek to override a guideline (which has been extensively vetted by the community) by deriving from that essay.
In wiki-parlance, TOOSOON simply means that the subject has a decent chance of passing the notability guidelines at some undefined point in future but as of now is yet to be notable. As simple and succinct as that.
The relevant guideline is this SNG and multiple refers to two or more, at bare-minimum.Whilst, the policies are a bit ambiguous (all SNGs state that they are subordinate to GNG et al), practice dictates that they are not.
SNGs have essentially provided a good editorial tool to sieve encyclopedic-characters from the frenzied-media-coverage about 21st century entertainment et al whilst also removing systemic bias, as evident from the lax guidelines of WP:NPROF.
Furthermore, being a brand-ambassador of a make-up brand does not lend any notability and frankly, if you believe in such a concept, it is ridiculous.
And, no, being a media-darling has not got to do with notability. She is a media-darling mostly because of the adulation of paperazzi with star-daughters.As an encyclopedia, we have a responsibility to distinguish between trivial-gossip-coverage and significant coverage.
If you believe that all media-darlings ought to be featured in Wikipedia, because they can comfortably pass GNG, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi looks to be a decent target, to try out upon.
At the end of my note, I will concede that it's perfectly plausible that my impression about the existent sourcing is wrong. In that case, I would ask you to provide three/four decent sources that covers her significantly in a professional non-gossipy, non-promotional manner (No interviews, please) and if that satisfies me, I will main-space it for you.
Best, WBGconverse 14:27, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
Oh, so TOOSOON was not a reason for reversion of the edits, you say? It was the First reason that User:GSS cited to revert my edits:
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Janhvi_Kapoor&action=history
Check out the third edit down from the top of the page. User:Gss clearly made the summary: "(Reverted to revision 854605999 by GSS (talk): This is still a case of WP:TOOSOON. (TW)) (undo | thank) (Tags: New redirect, Undo)"
So before you make accusations like that, please check the history of the page you are commenting on, because otherwise to make such a bold yet false assertion is laughable and doesn't do you much credit as a reviewer.
You say, "Neither is that any qualifier/supplement of our notability-guidelines.So, I fail to gauge as to why you seek to override a guideline (which has been extensively vetted by the community) by deriving from that essay." But it IS a qualifier of the notability guidelines, is says so itself! I will quote it directly: "An actor might merit an article in Wikipedia if they meet any of the various notability criteria as set out by guidelines at WP:Notability and/or the various applicable topic-specific notability sub-sections, as explained above. The guidelines do not mandate that all or even that most of these criteria have to be met..." And who are you to dictate to me what guideline is or isn't vetted by the community? The community doesn't run Wikipedia, the rules and common sense do, or should. I have no idea what 'guidelines' the 'community' vets extensively or not, all I see is the rules themselves written on the pages, "As simple and succinct as that." The fact that you are heavy-handedly interpreting what the guidelines are 'supposed' to mean, instead of what the rules themselves say they are, is very telling in your arrogant dismissal of my viewpoint. Is every new user supposed to go through the maze of what the 'community' has established as a status-quo rule, something which is not immediately obvious? If something is not expressly written, what gives you ANY justification for arguing for it in the first place?
You say, "Whilst, the policies are a bit ambiguous (all SNGs state that they are subordinate to GNG et al), practice dictates that they are not." What do you mean 'practice dictates?' And how exactly are newer users supposed to know what is dictated by 'practice?' This is just another arrogant imposition from you, the people who deem how things 'have always been done,' versus newer people who go by the written guidelines. The only thing that should matter is what the rules say, not what the 'community' has deemed standard as per their 'practice.'
You say, "Being a brand-ambassador of a make-up brand does not lend any notability and frankly, if you believe in such a concept, it is ridiculous." Ridiculous? Are you kidding me? The very REASON a brand would pick someone to endorse them is BECAUSE they are considered socially notable! Keep in mind we are talking about the entertainment industry- she is an actor in the first place. A name brand company would obviously not have her endorse them if she had not accomplished anything of note in her respected sphere to begin with. Frankly, I think you are being far too picky and judgmental regarding what fits the 'criteria' for the sake of the 'purity' of what you deep to be the 'great encyclopedia' that is Wikipedia- you yourself are NOT the sole interpreter of what works - a little common sense would show you that an actor endorsing a name-brand makeup IS quite notable.
You also say, "As an encyclopedia, we have a responsibility to distinguish between trivial-gossip-coverage and significant coverage." It's as if you've forgotten entirely that we are dealing with the entertainment industry, really.
And no, I do not believe all media darlings deserve a space in Wikipedia, I only mentioned it because it was a relevant corollary to the fact that she had released her first film. Taimur Ali Khan is an infant, obviously he wouldn't be notable- quite frankly, I find it insulting that you would use him to make a point when common sense would tell you that my reference to Janhvi's media following was only relevant in light of the fact that she was an actress. The very REASON the page was deleted in the first place was because of that reason-people wrongly assumed social following was enough! If that's the case, I could easily try to make a page for Suhana Khan, Shahrukh Khan's daughter, who arguably not only has a bigger fan following than Janhvi but also has graced the cover of Vogue India as well. But I KNOW I couldn't do that, because I KNOW being a media darling isn't enough. Please get a grip on yourself and try and read between the lines of what I wrote.
Quite frankly, I'm a little surprised that you're taking such an immature and snarky attitude like this, to counteract my argument, when it is entirely undeserved and when I'm simply arguing for the release of a page that is quite a bit overdue.
Also, neither you nor user:GSS have commented on the argument above that I posted, made on WP:TOOSOON, regarding the Paris Jackson example, which exactly echoes Janhvi's now. Don't try to nullify what that page says out of YOUR interpretation of its lack of importance - the page stands on its own- if it's importance is not expressly stated, WHO are YOU to determine that it's not really saying what it means? If that example states that Paris would deserve her own page (as common sense says she would), there is no reason Janhvi wouldn't: "A good example of this is Paris Jackson, as seen at this Articles for Deletion discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paris Katherine Jackson. At the time of the discussion, she had been announced as the star of a film that would be released a year after – however, the film had not actually been released yet. If or when the film is released, and if Jackson is the star of the film, she likely will merit an article, but not until then."
To conclude, I find your demeanor condescending and quite undeservedly so. I am not going to acquiese to your request for additional sources. If you cannot use basic common sense, respect the rules as they are and not how you deem need be interpreted, nor can you respect the ignorance of newcomers, you are a pretty sad example of someone who has administrative power and I will reserve my attention for those who are more worthy of that privilege. Thank you.
Rush922 (talk) 15:51, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
@TonyBallioni:, can you help out a bit, please? Esp. on SNG vs GNG, coverage-style and it's relevance and practice vs policy et al; Contrary to many folks over somewhere, I personally find youd remarks to be aimed at peaceful collaboration and bring newer perspectives, esp. to newbies:-) WBGconverse 17:19, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Whilst GSS might have chosen to include WP:NACTOR in his reasoning, the spirit of the comment clearly meant that the outcome of previous AfD was still valid enough (and, it's a failure of NACTOR) and that it is still too soon for her to be encylopedic. Nothing else, at all.

As to the difference between an essay, a guideline and a policy, read the linked pages. To surmise, whilst all those pages that belong to the latter two categories have been vetted by the community, essays are typically not. They often serve as an interpretation of different policies by different individuals.

So, what is contained as an example in WP:NYA was a choice of a particular user and there is no evidence that the community resonates with the thought.

(FWIW, even in the example, the word likely has been used.)

Contrarily, the SNG that I linked to (NACTOR) has been rigorously vetted by the community.

So, I don't see any reason to defend a failure of a community-vetted notability guideline against a quasi-loophole in a non-vetted essay.

And, no we don't consider that featuring in brand endorsements or fraturing in advertisements of noted companies lend any to notability.

And, by we, I mean a considerable majority of our editorial community, about whom, I am obviously more aware-about than you.

Also, if you mean that nearly all sourcing in the environment industry is gossip-like and that given proffesional coverage is rare (which is actually wrong for enough-distinguished film personalities) we need ro acvept gossip/promo-stuff as the new-normal, I vehemently disagree and will request you to have a look at the several GAs and FAs at the Film Portal, which includes Indian film-stars.

You raise an interesting question as to how new users are supposed to learn these practices.

I regrettably , can't offer any definite answer other than the fact that over here, practise gradually morphs into policy and the best means, a new user can foem his own interpretation of varipus policies et al is to participate in different discussion venues and derive from thought lines of experienced editors.

I, know that the inner-workings of Wikipedia can seem to be bizarelly byzantine for a new-comer. But that, we have spent far more than time over here than you have and having contributed to numerous articles , we have a fairly-good understanding of the interpretations of our policies.

Please tone down your rhetoric a bit, ask questions and indulge in the journey.

Best, WBGconverse 17:58, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

(Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Rush922/subpage/JanhviK - this is the subpage and draft I created to review/discuss reinstatement. After reading the below, let's please continue discussion on the talk page of that link)
Thanks User:Winged Blades of Godric for this answer, as it seems far more reasonable and balanced than your first one. Allow me to respond here briefly because I would like to continue this discussion elsewhere, as we both noted on User:Amorymeltzer‎'s talk page recently.
You ask me to discern the difference between an Essay, a Guidline, and a Policy by reading the linked pages. I would gladly do so, and WILL do so in the future, but therein lies the issue with newcomers that you later admitted yourself - who really has the time or patience to understand these differences? I would probably never have come across either these pages, or specifically the policy pages for Notability and TooSoon, had it not be pointed out to me by others. The only real way to assimilate them would be by practice, as you hinted. I admit that this whole debate about Kapoor's page-reinstation has been a great learning tool and exercise for me, not only in learning the technicalities of Wikipedia but also as an exercise in sheer will power to assert what I believe is right. A while ago I misunderstood photo-copyright laws and accidentally added pics on some pages incorrectly- I was flagged and had to discuss/argue my way out of it. The same thing happened a bit later when I had a few good-faith edits reverted by someone - I had to discuss to get clarification. So now with this page, I'm trying to see if I can get this page reinstated as well as would make sense to me. In a way it's as much about getting Janhvi Kapoor's page rightfully reinstated, as it is an integration of my own personal learning. As you said, it's a process.
That being said, I noted that you keep pressing the fact that the community has strongly vetted the WP:NACTOR page but not the TooSoon page, which you acknowledge is an Essay. But I'm sure it's apparent to you that from a purely visual standpoint, both pages look absolutely identical in terms of content, especially when you are taken directly to the middle of either page via shortcut. The ONLY way I learned about the hierarchy of validity of either of these pages is by scrolling ALL the way to the top and reading the Clarifying Header-Textboxes for each. I otherwise would have never guessed that one has more validity than the other. The shortcuts to both start with WP:; if an essay is less important, why not give it a different shortcut preface, like WPE (as in E for Essay) or something? That would be easier to discern.
Another 'loophole' I found is that regardless of how strongly vetted you say NACTOR is, the very Header-Textbox for that page itself states that the statements therein can be taken with a grain of salt, based on common sense: "It is a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply. Any substantive edit to this page should reflect consensus. When in doubt, discuss first on the talk page." According to me, common sense would state that in some cases for an actor, having a fan following or brand endorsements CAN institute notability IF the actor has a major socially-counted work (like a film - which is viewed by the general population at large) in their name. Someone else, like a Youtube star for example, may also have brand endorsements, but their notability in that case would probably be limited to their subscriber count, overall visibility, and length of time they have been counted 'at the top,' of that Youtube space (either via financial earnings or view count, etc), for example. That is why it is good to have discussions like these, I suppose.
To conclude, I would like to wrap up the discussion on this page and invite both you and User:GSS to the subpage I created for reinstating Kapoor's page. I couldn't open her draft page, as it was blocked, and the talk-page on the original Janhvi Kapoor page wouldn't let me cite sources, so I had to use a subpage. Here is the link (which I also posted at the top of this comment), and you can start discussions on its talk page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Rush922/subpage/JanhviK
Thanks and happy discussing.

Hello, I would like to understand your reasoning for reverting my removal of adspeak from the PBSC Urban Solutions article. My changes removed language like "PBSC Urban Solutions is a global provider of bike sharing solutions", "A $5M investment in research and development has enabled PBSC to offer eco-friendly intuitive technology solutions such as their solar-powered docking stations", "PBSC currently has three bike models on the market, designed to meet the needs of a variety of riders" which sound like they were written by a PR firm and are not anywhere near what WP:NPOV requires. Why are you again and again redirecting the page Samiksha Jaiswal even after providing suitable data and reliable references? I request you to please not do this again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Helpful14 (talkcontribs) 07:36, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

@Helpful14: Please see WP:NACTOR and don't remove the redirect again or else it will be nominated for deletion. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 07:39, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

I'm not a paid wiki writer or editor

Hi GSS, I didnt get paid for editing any article at all on wikipedia and that notice of $ payment on Bia Mustafa Alloush page is by mistake, it was created through article for creation and I was aware and followed the topic Bia Mustafa Alloush since the beginning, if you need more proof I can provide you any thing you ask for, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bilalrahal (talkcontribs) 08:20, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

@Bilalrahal: Do you know Bia Mustafa Alloush personally? and what is your connection with user KarenLima33? Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 09:12, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
I Dont Know Bia Mustafa Alloush in person nor karenlima. I'm an average contributor — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bilalrahal (talkcontribs) 09:51, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
@Bilalrahal: In your first edit at help desk you said last year one of Wikipedia team deleted an entire wiki page entry I created for an artist that I represent can you please name that article. GSS (talk|c|em) 10:55, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
I'm not a paid wiki writer or editor. Yes it was for Bia Alloush, I said I'm an average user, when I came across a new article of Bia Alloush I participated as a contributor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bilalrahal (talkcontribs) 11:10, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
I represent the deleted article not the artist. A misunderstanding just to clarify. Just to clarify the previous post. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bilalrahal (talkcontribs) 11:13, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
@Bilalrahal: So you want me to belive that you don't represent the artist, and you don't have any relation with the subject (family, friends, clients, employers etc.) am I right? GSS (talk|c|em) 11:21, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
Its up to you to believe or not, I have no business to claim any thing or pretend, also I'm a full time employee in another company domain, and not always available here on wiki as a full time to keep explaining my self, you can check my log from last year I never been here much, I'm just a volunteer. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bilalrahal (talkcontribs) 11:38, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

The film is releasing from tomorrow. Please remove redirect from the article if it meets the criteria. RHcosm (talk) 12:04, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

@RHcosm: Please wait till the film receive some reviews in reliable sources. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 12:58, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Adam Leber

Hi GSS, thanks for reviewing my submission. I am not a paid editor and I do not have connection to the subject. The photo used was one I took as I have met Leber previously at an industry event. I've removed the Philanthropy section in the draft as I realize that it was not properly supported. If there are any other changes required please let me know. Thanks! Sambres8 (talk) 16:56, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

@Sambres8: Please feel free to submit your draft for review by clicking on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page also can you please provide a reliable source to support his date of birth. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 18:13, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
There was a Variety article about his birthday party but after reviewing I realize it doesn't explicitly list his birth date, going to remove that. Just to clarify why would I need to submit for review vs reverting the deletion to the revised draft? Thanks for your help! Sambres8 (talk) 18:34, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
I'm not actually convinced with your claim that you don't have a COI for several reasons e.g. how you know his date of birth and how you know he's active since 1999? both claims are unsourced and unverifiable for me so that's why I asked you to submit your draft for review. GSS (talk|c|em) 07:24, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

So Sreenath Raghunath has been recreated. I was reluctant when I came across it through NPP to nominate for AfD since I honestly don't know what weight that crowd will give to the various bug fighting HOFs. Given the likely but undisclosed COI I leave it in your capable admin hands about what the next steps are but thought I'd ping you about its recreation in case it wasn't on your watchlist (or got buried there). Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 17:13, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

And I clearly needn't have worried as you were all over it :). Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 17:14, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
@Barkeep49: I have moved it back to draftspace and have filled the SPI too Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sreenathaywenz. Thank you – GSS (talk|c|em) 17:17, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of Sreenath Raghunath

Hello, Why the page of Sreenath Raghunath page is drafted? May I know the reason? I have submitted all the required reference links. And of course that is not a paid work. Please acknowledge. Thank You — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sreenathr10 (talkcontribs) 17:15, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

@Sreenathr10: See my last two messages on your talk page. GSS (talk|c|em) 17:18, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

Re: Speedy deletion nomination of User:Gigcity

I am writing to discuss your suggestion to delete User:Gigcity based on U5 Blatant misuse of Wikipedia as a web host

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#U5

My initial use of Wikipedia was actually to help document ImaginAsian as user 63.145.7.103 -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/63.145.7.103

Unfortunately, that user account was associated with an old email address (possibly one associated with ImaginAsian Entertainment). I created my current user:Gigcity account in 2008.

I understand that under my current user:Gigcity it shows a very limited contribution to Wikipedia but I can assure you that my intentions are NOT to use the tool for self-aggrandization. Is there a way that I can demonstrate or recover user:63.145.7.103?

Thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gigcity (talkcontribs) 20:04, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Bkleinberg block appeal

Hey GSS, you submitted an SPI at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bkleinberg which led to the block of User:Bkleinberg. That user has now submitted a block appeal. If you would like, your comments on the appeal would be appreciated. Thank you! Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 02:56, 13 October 2018 (UTC)

The APX

Hi! You unpublished the The_APX article which I published yesterday. I was reading the about the draft process from [10] and it says "anonymous editors, or registered editors not autoconfirmed, will need to request publication". I am not an anonymous editor nor non-autocormied so I should be allowed to make the move, right? Jjanhone (talk) 07:24, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

@Jjanhone: Anyone except editors with COI. GSS (talk|c|em) 07:26, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
Could that be added to the policy too? Jjanhone (talk) 07:28, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
See WP:PAY for better understanding. GSS (talk|c|em) 07:31, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
It says "If you are an administrator, you must not use administrative tools". I am not an admin so I do not have access to admin tools either. So moving pages is not admin work?Jjanhone (talk) 08:11, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

GSS, you asked me a question around this. You asked via email. I don't think your question was particularly confidential, but just in case you thought it was, I'm being careful with my response. No, there was nothing better there. The article itself (not the draft) previously went through an AfD. At that point, it had less content than the current draft. --Yamla (talk) 11:35, 17 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi! You've added a tag on Tieto article saying it cointains paid editing. If you were referring to me (as you've added the same tag to my other articles) please look at the history of that article more carefully: I haven't edited the article.Jjanhone (talk) 04:22, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

That wasn't because of you. GSS (talk|c|em) 05:18, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Request on 04:25:02, 20 October 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Bablu Baghel

Hello Sir, I've stated Sudip Pandey as one of a friend suggest me to write his biography on Wikipedia before starting I have seen good reliable news/media sources. But as on the second attempt I have found many media and sources link about his films and seen so many films of Sudip Pandey. we must be thinking if an actor has done 30+ films in his career as a lead actor it's a big achievement. so his fans must be interested to know about him.

News Source: Times of India Topic : [1]

sir under the topic all links is available under the blow :

Topics mention Blow :

  • Amitabh Bachchan is the only superstar: Sudip Pandey [2]
  • Sudip Pandey in Paro Patnawali : [3]
  • Sudip Pandey is a well-acclaimed actor of the Bhojpuri film industry. [4]

So I Think about the re-creation of an article for Sudip Pandey news sources is meet Wikipedia policies. I strongly recommended rethinking about deletion. if is a possibility to re-edit the article.

I would like to request you kindly give me your guidance which required to fulfil the Wikipedia:Notability.

Thank you Bablu Baghel

@Bablu Baghel: No the sources you provided above do not support notability, the first one is an interview and rest of them are just mirror copies of some unreliable sites (see at the end of each page). I also left a notice on your talk page regarding paid editing which you need to disclose as per WP:UPE and your relation with user Pappuad who also known as M.k.pappu. Thank you. help Me to get the Genuine & authentic articles live

This is really bad, if experts on Wikipedia will not help us to improve the article. They just delete the articles after all very strong citations. Please check Vikram Gandhi help me how i can contribute on these type on article email (Redacted)

@Khalidgaur: First can I know who asked you to create this article? and what is your relationship with Roxanamathew and Kntrolsp who created . @Cyberpower678 can you please take care of this edit as well. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 07:54, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
@GSS: Nobody asked me to create this article and i don't know any of these people Roxanamathew and Kntrolsp, even i was not aware that this page was previously tried to get live. I know lots famous Indian personalities. They do not have Wikipedia page after all their great online news citations. So, i tried to make it live and other pages too. But, every time i get fail as other Wikipedia editors take it negatively. If there is proper citations link and article about the genuine personality. Why its been deleted? Should in need to share the Indian personalities name with you who don't have Wikipedia page? So, you live them on Wikipedia, most trusted website

multiple accounts

Dear GSS, I only use this account and contribute using this account or without login. I have another account which I dont use but was saved in my browser and by mistake i logged into that account while making an edit. I am not coordinating with anybody but myself. I sometimes make edits without login as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kalra.avneet (talkcontribs) 08:49, 20 October 2018 (UTC)
