A tag has been placed on Ryan Edgar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.  Glenfarclas  (talk) 06:13, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello GiantSnowman! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 27 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

'Albums considered the greatest ever' nominated for deletion

I saw you made an edit on the article Albums considered the greatest ever so I thought it'd interest you that it's being nominated for deletion. It'd be great if you'd give your two cent here since I'm the only one so far who wants the article to stay. The only other people involved in the discussion are deletion-happy administrators, which I think is a bit unfair. So I'd really appreciate it if you gave some insight. Thank you. Best, Geeky Randy (talk) 20:35, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

I have nominated Chester F.C. (2010), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chester F.C. (2010). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. -- BigDom 18:35, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/T. Gopinath Naidu

Hi there - I just wanted to drop you a note to ask if you could reconsider your view in this AfD. There are quite a few sources confirming that the Malaysian Super League is fully professional (including during the mid-90s when this guy played). And it's listed as fully professional on the Wikiproject Football page you linked to. Cheers --Mkativerata (talk) 23:12, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Blaise Nkufo

Hi GiantSnowman. Please move the article back to the correct name. Concerning a Swiss player, whom do you trust more: Swiss media or a Dutch website? This article summarizes a long interview in the SonntagsZeitung and an interview in the Swiss TV sports show sport aktuell. Unfortunately, these original versions are not available anymore. The spelling (correct: “Nkufo”) and the pronunciation (correct: “Kufo”) of his name were quite a topic in Swiss media in August 2007. Before, his name had always been spelled “N'Kufo” (incorrect). You can also consult the official website of the Swiss national team (you have to scroll down and select his entry from the list). --Leyo 20:55, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

→ The discussion has shifted to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Blaise (N)kufo. --Leyo 07:47, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Hi there man, welcome back, hope your wikibreak was 100% what you hoped for. Regarding this discussion, it might be interesting (or not!! ;)) to bring Thomas Nkono, the legendary goalkeeper of Cameroon. As it is, his real name is N'Kono, according to various sources, not Nkono.

Page move anyone? Best regards, from Portugal, VASCO - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 13:40, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

As someone who edits a lot on Wikiproject Football - can I have your views on this one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football#Ben_Stevens_.28footballer.29l Thanks Steve-Ho (talk) 09:35, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello, GiantSnowman. You have new messages at Moonriddengirl's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

The article Arnaud Lescure has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:ATHLETE or WP:NSPORT. Player has played only for lower-division and amateur clubs.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Maedin\talk 20:40, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi GiantSnowman, as the remover of the PROD on Arnaud Lescure, could you please elaborate on your reasoning? I admit to knowing little about football, but I've read WP:ATHLETE again and am still unclear on which part of the criteria is met by the article's subject. Thanks, Maedin\talk 06:44, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm, thanks for the link. I did see it in the article, but I'm not sure how it confirms notability. Monaco is amateur, and Rodez AF stopped playing Ligue 2 in 1993, and Sporting Toulon are also now amateur, having last competed in Ligue 2 in 1984, and last played Ligue 3 in 1996. Correct me if I'm wrong or misunderstanding the divisions. WP:ATHLETE does say that further distinctions are made at WP:NSPORT, where the football section seems to make it clear that this player doesn't meet the criteria. Still interested in your thoughts, but I would like to take this to AfD. Thanks, Maedin\talk 08:02, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Indeed, I clearly screwed up what I was looking at. My apologies; I think I confused Monaco with his current league (how, I have no idea!). No, I won't take it to AfD, now that you've corrected me, :) Thanks for your patience. Maedin\talk 18:23, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Micko Larkin

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Micko Larkin. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Micko Larkin. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:09, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

I refer to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aaron Martin (Football) where you supported deleting this article; the discussion was duly closed as delete. However, several of the deletion arguments expressly noted that the deletion was only because Mr. Martin had not played at a significantly high level. He has just started his first game for Southampton FC and accordingly I have undeleted the article. Please renominate it if you feel it should still be deleted. Stifle (talk) 14:00, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Categorizing majorcan footballers

I'm putting them in a more precise category: Category:Footballers from Majorca, which is a subcategory of Category:Spanish footballers. Paucabot (talk) 06:39, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm new, I didn't know I had to add redundant categories. So, why do they don't have Category:Footballers as they are still footballers? Paucabot (talk) 06:42, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
As I told you, I'm new in this wikipedia. I was only asking because I didn't understand that ... In addition, all footballers from Spain have an autonomous community category, so I continue thinking it's the same case. Could you link me to the policy that explains this? Thanks. Paucabot (talk) 06:48, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. This must be a global policy, not only applied to footballers, I presume. Could you link me to the exact place where this is explained? I'm not doubting about your answer but I would like to have this clear as I'm planning to create more new categories. Thanks for your patience. Paucabot (talk) 06:54, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Is this guideline applied to all other categories or only to footballers? I would find strange to not apply this guideline for example to sportspeople or journalists ... Paucabot (talk) 06:59, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
I'll try to find this guideline. Thanks. Paucabot (talk) 07:06, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi GS! Should we move the article? What do you think? FkpCascais (talk) 12:02, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Mike Ciaccia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Monsters on the loose?

Hi there SNOWY, VASCO here, hope all's fine with you,

I noticed you sent a message two days ago to User:Zombie433, which was promptly removed, without you having received any response. Well, take a look at this discussion in which i was engaged (as the main "protagonist", well almost the sole one) - please see here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:SoWhy#Help_please).

I hope this will shed some light on what type of person we are dealing with. No vandal, but no interaction. Cheers, kind regards, from Portugal - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 14:26, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Archiving footy deletion discussion

Hi there. I was going to remove Template:AUS fb Preston in NSL from the WP:FOOTY main page after it was deleted, but you beat me to it. :-) However I noticed that you didn't add it to the deletion archive, so I did so. I see you've edited the deletion archive before so I assume it was just an oversight. Cheers and happy editing. --Jameboy (talk) 18:59, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Talk page discussion

Hi there SNOWY, VASCO here,

Forever embracing the Wikipedia:Be bold "warfare", i changed the name of an article without starting a talkpage discussion. Was immediately "messaged" asking to explain my move but, even after doing so, was asked to start the appropriate talk and undo my move.

I have the utmost respect for your work and approach, man. With that in mind, could you please check the discussion (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Guti_Hern%C3%A1ndez) and drop in a few thoughts? Would be highly appreciated - if decided against, i will definitely rename the page as it was. Kind regards, happy week - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 17:42, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Guti

Hi there SNOWY, VASCO here again,

Regarding Guti (footballer)'s talkpage and akin - by the way thanks for your input - i have been engaged in a strange discussion with another user (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Off2riorob#Guti), could you please tell me what am i doing wrong (my talkpage will provide more details, see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:VascoAmaral#Guti)? I'm started to feel i committed a crime, rather than improving WP.

Kind regards - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 16:13, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Opinion

Hi there GIANT ONE, VASCO here,

I would like to know your opinion on this: i had to remove a lot of contents at Luigi Sartor, which were referenced to top it (albeit in Italian), because the language display by User:Matthew hk was out of this world, could not understand a word he meant (please see here, in ROMA sub-section http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Luigi_Sartor&diff=354731776&oldid=354729762).

I am addressing you (a respected editor and kind person) because maybe you could make something out of that and reinstate the bits you see fit, not Matthew because he tends to be aggressive - would not be surprised if he finds my changes and harasses me in a while. Please help would be greatly appreciate it (obviously, if you think i did wrong and want to reinstate THE WHOLE THING, it's OK by me as well).

Cheers, thanks a million in advance - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 16:00, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

  • What about SARTOR? Can't you help me? - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 21:43, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Not that man, all was cool. With all my respects, all you did was compress club names in storyline, besides the English, which you know of course better than me but i had already "taken care of". Please, if you can, have a look at the example i provided with Matthew's shenanigans (very first paragraph of original message i sent you), then see if you can save something and reinstate in ROMA section. If you can't, nevermind, we'll leave it this way. Cheers - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 21:58, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
  • SNOWY, PLEASE read after "please see here" at the start of my first message (titled "OPINION"), then click in the example i provided and read the part where MATTHEW talks about "doping administrative", "co-currently the acquire cost", "as inflated the price and cross-trading itself is not illegal", etc, etc. It's a part that i have REMOVED, and am trying to get your help to see what we can save and reinstate, i don't want you to do anything in the current article - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 22:40, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Come again? I'm completely surprised with that reaction mate...I think that this guy's effort in the REFS department is very very good, but is English is appalling (at least he admits, not unlike some i know); hence, i asked to see if you could save something from the bit i showed you in that article, and your response is "Both of you have been around long enough to know that any information about a living person needs to be verified by a reliable source...speculation, point of view and original research are not permitted."?! Please elaborate, i'm completely lost for words, where did i POV'd or wrote anything i did not reference? If anyone, it was Matthew, so why the "both"?

Losing the will to contribute to the site more and more each day :( - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 02:24, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Jesus that was close, what a misunderstanding! Without a tip of sarcasm, you are one of the people i would most definitely hate to ruin a good WIKI-relation, altough i must admit i was "scared" with the "both of you" (acknowledging he did a wrong move, i assumed i did too), thanks a million for the response and the encouragement my friend.

P.S. I only reverted after you added those inputs because, not being what i asked in the first place, and since i thought you were "acting under my instructions", assumed i could do so. Feel free to add as you wish mate (i do happen to HATE club compression in storyline, but i don't own WP). Kind(er) regards, enjoy the music - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 02:37, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

  • More to discuss with my friend, and this is serious: at Francisco Yeste, some idiots ("no personal attacks", yes i know), removed the ENTIRE storyline, and i lost it on edit summary. Then User:Active Banana, after the pertinent message on civility, reinstated the vandals' work, then i worked my gut off to try and find refs, as well as compose the POV-weasel (but still leaving a bit of prose)....

Well, that still does not cut it for him, has been on my case still, removing bits of storyline, words, the lot (i added some Spanish REFS, he added a tag to one of them, something i have never encountered in my years of editing - someone even once told me, can't remember if it was you, that foreign refs are 100% OK). I told him this was personal on his part because of my edit summary, and he did not rebuff it so i must be right. Is he an admin? His talkpage does not seem to attest this. Rise and shine - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 09:10, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Mark Villon

Just wondering, why create a page for Villon? Sure he was a full international but why now? Why Villon? There's practically no coverage on him. Banana Fingers (talk) 18:10, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Requested? Is it possible to know which user requested it? Banana Fingers (talk) 18:30, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Ya, I know he's notable, but like I said, I was just wondering, especially why only now with hardly any coverage on him even if he is notable. As it turns out the request for the Villon page has been there since Augst 2006. lol Banana Fingers (talk) 19:17, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:36, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

The article Samuel Lustenberger has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about footballer who has never played in a fully-pro league and which fails the general notability guideline.

Matthew HK

Hi there SNOWY, VASCO here,

This is getting out of hand...User:Matthew hk has reinstated his bit again in Luigi Sartor, in appalling English. I believe last time you agreed with me that it did not matter if the stuff was referenced, it the refs were not in English and the language was subpar, as it is clearly the case.

As of NOW, i am composing his stuff again, and next i will send him a message, with the mere thought of it sending shivers down my spine, only thing he knows how to do is threat people with blocks and stuff, and when he is wrong he NEVER apologizes. Cheers man - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 02:24, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Thought of it precisely midway through "it" my friend. Hence just composed the language instead of removing the whole stuff, and apparently he did respect it, as he edited after me again, and did not touch the "valuables"...Kind regards - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 04:06, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
  • Silly me, mate, SO SILLY! Only today, nearly two years from the first message you sent me, did i notice that i was supposed to put WP:FOOTY in my watchlist, to better know whenever a new discussion arose, have just "done the deed" now...

On another hand, i feel that maybe i have discovered the stuff too late, am getting pretty weary of the lack of feedback i get from almost everybody (yes i know my summaries are sometimes uncompliant with site policy, but i work my gut off for the sake of the site - cutting the emotional rubbish, i think most of us also do it for some personal gratification, which is marvellous, don't get me wrong).

How is my lack of "wiki-success" measurable (my fault perhaps, for not complying with some stuff)? Pretty simple, the barnstars, the cookies, the happy stuff, none of that, my friend (even User:Zombie433 gets one or two!). Messages about uncivility - which i promptly acknowledge and admit, apologizing - or article reversions? Have lost the count, and be sure that speaking of the former, i do not live for that, but it sure makes for a good method of comparison...

Let's see how the next months go, will try my best. Kind regards, from Portugal - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:05, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Regarding removel of link for Peter Atherton

Hi GiantSnowman

I noticed that you removed the link for Peter Atherton to EPLinfo.com that shows the detailed information of this player career in the English Premier League. The goal of wikipedia is to provide the reader as much information as possible for the topic and I'm sure if you visit http://www.eplinfo.com/players/Peter-Atherton you will see useful information for this player that not currently showing on his wikipedia profile.

I've worked as a professional soccer statistician for 20 years including directly with the English Premier League, as well as with companies such as Opta and Stats Inc. EPLinfo.com and sister sites for Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga and Spanish La Liga are the first time that this information will be in the public domain and I plan to link each player wikipedia page to this information. Simular to how Baseball-Reference (an associate of mine) profile players from Major League Baseball on Wikipedia. Eventually time permitting we would like to do this for all 40,000 professional soccer/football players from over 50 leagues in the World that these detailed statistics have been produced for.

I will be reediting your last edit and if you still have concerns please discuss the issue with me so we can come up with the best arrangement going forward.

In regards to the violation of Wikipedia:External links and Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources how is this resolved. EPLinfo.com is a new site that is launching for the upcoming Premier League season. As its a new site is there a procedure that I would need to go through to Identify it as a reliable source or is it based on an editor preferance.

I've read through some of your submissions and I've noticed you put a great amount work towards wikipedia depth although in some cases they lack potential detail epsecially historical information. I have statistical databases on all teams, players and leagues that you have edited (my background http://ca.linkedin.com/in/enbsports) and if wished I can prodivde you statistical information that would help your submissions. Feel free to email me at enbsports@gmail.com and we can discuss this further Cheers Enb17Enb17 —Preceding undated comment added 00:22, 30 July 2010 (UTC).

The article Tom Chapman has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence that subject has ever played in a professional league, so fails WP:NSPORT; only source in article is a family memoir, no evidence of third-party coverage to pass WP:GNG

Struway2 (talk) 11:53, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

A source has been provided? Really? Where? Either I'm missing something incredibly obvious, or there is no source to show he is Scottish or was born in Edinburgh. 91.106.115.51 (talk) 19:50, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Then why isn't his birthplace in Edinburgh sourced as such? At the moment I and any other reader are guessing where the apparent assumption to his birthplace is made. 22:24, 9 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.106.109.235 (talk)

Bit late to ask, now that I've changed all instances of his name in Blackpool-related articles, but are you sure he was known as "Teddy"? As an aside, I see you redirected "Thomas Duckworth" to the above article, which is fine, but there was a "Thomas Cullen Duckworth", whose article I will create in due course. - Dudesleeper talk 00:53, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Well, my Blackpool book only gives initials in its list of players, but Michael Joyce's book doesn't include "Terry" in his name, and that book — as we have found — usually lists every part of a person's name, and their nickname. - Dudesleeper talk 10:00, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Talkback

Hello, GiantSnowman. You have new messages at Half price0's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hi. I hope you don't mind, but I have removed your PROD from this article. At Wikipedia:ATHLETE#Association football it says "Players who have appeared, and managers who have managed, in a fully-professional league (as detailed here), will generally be regarded as notable." Michael Ngoo has apparently played once for Liverpool (in a cup match) and three times for Port Vale, in professional leagues. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 17:42, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Various Liverpool youth team profiles

You'll probably be aware of my editing of various football articles over the last few years, especially Liverpool ones. I see that 2012alatham has created loads of new articles for youth players at Liverpool, all of whom fail WP:ATH and WP:NSPORTS. I see that these have been made PROD, but strikes me that they could have all been candidates for speedy deletion, given in most cases they use incorrect references, or in some cases have content for other players. 2012alatham seems to have just cut and pasted various other Liverpool related profiles. I'll tidy them up if I need to, pending the 7 days it will take for the PRODs to come into effect, and I'll keep the content on the tidied in my sandboxes if they do play at a notable level, but isn't there an easier way than PROD? Deale Chamberlain

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Deale Chamberlain, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Years in infobox

Hi, I noticed your edit at Andreas Weimann, changing the start date to the year of his first team debut. I was always under the impression this date represented their inclusion to the first team, i.e. being handed a squad number. Hello. When adding a category to Seymour Morris with this edit, you seem to have deleted a couple at the same time. Presume it was accidental, but thought I'd better mention it. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:14, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Not sure that explains your removing the Place of death missing cat as well, though... As to Category:Date of death missing, looks like you're confusing it with Category:Year of death missing, which is the one incompatible with a year of death being present. Date of death missing is for where the day and month are unknown or not reliably sourced. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:29, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
No probs. Fixed it myself (as you've probably noticed by now). cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:34, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Further to my reply to your query raised at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football, I have expanded the article on William Bradshaw (footballer) to incorporate all that I can find on Joyce. I would like to create an article on Billy Bradshaw (footballer), but don't have time to do it justice as I am going away tonight for ten days. If you are planning on creating an article, his brief details (per Joyce) are: Born Padiham, April 1884; played for Padiham and Accrington Stanley, then joined Blackburn Rovers (1903-1919): 386 league apps, (36 goals). Joined Rochdale in 1920 as player-manager.(Soccerbase) Cheers. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:13, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

I can say with certainty that Odvan played in all clubs. I've seen several interviews of the player, I'm from Brazil and I saw him play many matches. Only one source is sometimes not enough. Mohammad Anwar Elahee

Hi, and thanks for the question. After referring to multiple articles, I am pretty sure the information is correct. One article, located at http://lexpress.mu/story/18445-hommage-a-mamade-elahee-monsieur-football-n-est-plus.html (it's in French), says that his playing career ended in 1963 due to injury, and that his coaching career began in 1960. If you find anything else that contradicts what I put, chances are I made a mistake. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. Thanks, --IMCS:SHuQ (talk) 18:41, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi there GIANT ONE, VASCO here,

Was about to write you a message, i can see you switfly beat me on that one :) As always, your logic is kindly appreciated, but the data is highly incorrect (his first match with Barcelona's first team was three years later than what is depicted in box). If i - in this case i, can be anyone really - mention his loan to Villarreal in story, would that be enough to restore my box order?

Kind regards as well, keep up the great work, from Portugal (my userpage has been getting quite a few punches and kicks this last week, simply for reporting vandals and blocking a few pages) - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 00:47, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

  • Yes mate, that would be a good compromise. Could you please see to it? I am in the process of starting another "cleanup", ironically a subject which appears in Pedraza's page (and no, not his son :)) - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 00:53, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi, have you got any evidence that this player was 'Scottish' as opposed to just being born in Scotland? Did he play any kind of representative football for them? Eldumpo (talk) 09:19, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the response. I have added the ref to the article, although if you get chance you may want to check the book as to whether it confirms he is Scottish. I do wonder though with some sources like this whether they may be assuming 'nationality' on the basis of his birthplace rather than anything more than that. There has been some discussion on this at Footy recently and I thought that consensus was that determination of nationality would be based on footballing nationality i.e. if the player had represented their country (at any level) or had otherwise declared their nationality. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 14:34, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Well technically I think a player's nationality should not be recorded unless we have sound evidence of what it is. It's more difficult in the UK of course because there is no such thing in law as a Scottish/English citizen etc it's all UK for passport purposes, so to me it's not really possible for anyone to have a listed nationality on Wikipedia if they have not played representative football. I realise there is also a reasonableness argument whereby it could be argued that a lot of the time birthplace will equal nationality, but something as sensitive as this should not be guessed i.e. issues in Northern Ireland, former Yugoslavia etc. But perhaps the key point is whether we're recording football nationality or 'legal' nationality. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 18:15, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

I don't really know. The list looks referenced though. You should ask its creator User:Manneken Pis.--Latouffedisco (talk) 09:45, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

horrible translation:

Found in 1917 Enrico Bachman, Torino captain before WWI, Vittorio Staccione was in Torino youth accademy in 1919, making the debut in top league (there wasn't still Serie A) on 3 febbruary 3, 1924 against Hellas Verona; after 2 caps with Torino he was loaned at Cremonese where the match played persuaded Torino to call him back. In the 1926-1927 season, Torino won the scudetto but that was later revoked. On march 20, 1927 he played the last match with Torino, against Sampierdarenese in Genoa, in a match where debuted his brother Eugenio, Torino goalkeeper. Next season Fiorentina buy him; between 1927 and 1931 he had 94 caps with Fiorentina, a record for that age, gaining in 1930-1931 season a promotion in serie A. While he lived in Firenze his wife Giulia Vannetti and newborn daughter Maria Luisa died for problems at the birth. Despite the promotion he was given at Cosenza where he played 1931-1932, 1932-33 and 1933-34 serie B season with former Torino teammate Balacics as coach.

He was often arrested by OVRA, and on march 13 1944 he was arrested SS with older brother Francesco; after one year he died for wounds at right leg provoked by blows never nursed and became gangrene. His brother Francesco died few days after him. 93.33.15.229 (talk) 09:43, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Have you even had a proper look at national-football-teams.com? They're not 100% complete on all 'A' international matches. Therefore that site isn't always reliable. You literally have to look at each year if they're missing data or not to fully know if a player's caps & goals count is accurate. Specifically for the Philippines they don't have data for three matches during the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup qualification. That's the tournament where De Jong made his Philippines debut. If have a look at citation #13 (although it's been a dead link for a while), when it was still working I added a quote in the reference from that link. Have a look at it, it proves that he did play in all four matches in that tournament. So with the already existing 11 caps on the national-football-teams.com, you can add three more to that based on what he said. As of now, that site hasn't added yesterday's match against Myanmar in from the 2010 Suzuki Cup. He played in that. So that's an extra cap, making it a total of 15 so far. Now, during the 2010 Long Teng Cup, the Philippines' match against Hong Kong U-23 has been recognized by FIFA as a full international. This is proved by the results list at FIFA.com, it's there. National-football-teams.com didn't include that because it's Hong Kong U-23. So it's 16 full international caps for Jason de Jong. Banana Fingers (talk) 16:38, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
