Aeroflot

Hi, thanks for pointing out the wrong dash in the pipe for Boeing 787-8. I've run the dash and CT scripts again, fixing that one manually. I can't see any other issues. Can you let me know if there are? Tony (talk) 01:39, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

AA service to Budapest

Do you know if this route is seasonal or year-round. It is currently suspended this winter and it is to resume June 15, 2012 but it was denoted as "seasonal". However, I was able to find JFK-BUD route and vice-versa well into December 2012. Also, they used unreliable sources (airlineroute.net) to cite this route. Can you find another source to verify? Thanks! Snoozlepet (talk) 04:02, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Ehthiopian Airlines

I have an addition to the article.

IN 1957-58 I was at the U.S. Embassy, Khartoum. I flew in Oct, 1957 from Khartoum to Cairo and back on a Convair 240 flown by two pilots "supplied by TWA" from the U.S. and a Greek Stewardess. I knew the pilot and was introducted to the co-pilot in flight in the cockpit. We three were under the weather from having been drinking all night until 3 A.M. at the local open air night club and took off at 9 A.M. I ws surprised to see them in the plane as I thought they were both on a long lay over and were not flying in the morning. We flew about 500 feet above the Nile to Cairo as the pilots could not see the instruments good enough and knew the river went through Cairo. No automatic pilot as it cost too much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.36.135.7 (talk) 05:08, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

A user continues to list LGW as a destination for Caribbean Airlines to begin in June 2012. However, it is still in the planning stage and has not announced a start date for it. Can you take a look? I have already removed it. I am also curious about the future destinations at Caribbean Airlines destinations (BOM, JNB, and LGW) cause they are listed as future destinations with no dates. Air Mauritius edits - Feb 22, 2012

I don't understand what was wrong with my edits. They were just minor grammatical changes, rewording, etc. Here's an example of bad grammar:

"The company is the fourth Sub-Saharan biggest carrier."

Now here's my correction:

"Air Mauritius is the fourth-largest carrier in Sub-Saharan Africa."

Don't you think that sounds somewhat better? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chotiwala75 (talkcontribs) 03:09, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Well, you go to http://webcitation.org - select "Archive" which brings you to http://webcitation.org/archive - All you need to enter is the URL of the page being archived, and your email address, but you can add more information if you'd like. When the process finishes, the archive URL displays and you may copy or paste it. I used this function to capture many Malev and Spanair pages during the process of their bankruptcies. 3RR - three revert rule, not one

3RR page says "A series of consecutive saved revert edits by one user with no intervening edits by another user counts as one revert." So, the twelve (12) edits I made between 23:02, 12 February 2012‎ and 23:17, 12 February 2012‎ inclusive, only counts as one revert for the purposes of the three-revert rule, and was more than 24 hours ago. Therefore I am not " in danger of breaking the three-revert rule, ", nor have I "already broken it."

Thank you and have a nice day.

Just to let you know, WP:3RR reads An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Violations of the rule normally attract blocks of at least 24 hours. Any appearance of gaming the system by reverting a fourth time just outside the 24-hour slot is likely to be treated as a 3RR violation. You have clearly violated this rule.--Jetstreamer (talk) 23:51, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
I have not. As "clearly" shown in my contributions, I have made only thirteen (13) edits to the article of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The first edit is not a reversion. The next twelve (12) edits, according to the rules of 3RR that are "clearly" written on that page, constitute a single revert to the article. The only reason those edits are separate are because that is the easiest way for an unregistered editor to undo a series of edits that were themselves a reversion to a prior version.
Also, I resent that I have been given the 3RR warning while other reverters such as "N124BC" have not. This was probably an act of discrimination against an unregistered user, merely for the reason that the user is unregistered.
I win, I saw the discussion on the ATL airport article talk page where it was verified that I am correct regarding the above.23:06, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Issue with HBC Archive Indexerbot

Hello there. Can anyone tell me why HBCAI is not archiving my threads? I've asked the user who runs it, who told me that everything seems to be ok, yet the bot stopped archiving in last December. Maybe someone went through the very same issue. Thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:41, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

The problem is not the index box, Misza's bot. (known issue). Either wait, do it manually or use another archive bot. The bot will likely start archiving again. hopefully... mabdul 11:57, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your response, but I explained the problem wrongly. The archiving process runs fine. It is the indexing that is not working since last December. This issue is also present at Talk:Iran–Iraq War/Archive index, so I believe the problem is not only mine.--Jetstreamer Talk 16:24, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Ok, that didn't work. I will try now using a new index page, maybe the error is somewhere related to the old index page... mabdul 12:32, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Don't ask me, but with a captial I it is working... Either request a deletion of the "small index" page or redirect it ;) mabdul 08:33, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Oh lol, I see the problem: You created the "Index" page with the HTML comment and allowed the bot to do this, then moved the page to "index" and then the bot doesn't recognizes that he still has the permission. Simply delete the "index" page and let the bot reindex it there if you want to want a small i. I will leave a talkpage for the dev. mabdul 08:35, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Well, that settles the problem down. Many thanks for your help, really appreciate it.--Jetstreamer Talk 11:51, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Swiss International Air Lines

I agree with you, but I dint think the link to the Swiss article was "spam" because the website has no ads message, it was only a list of aircraft registrations. I am checking all the airlines categories and the articles and I discovered so many articles with links to other website: airliners.net, planespotter.net, ch-aviation, while some article have a list of links regarding the airlines selling holidays and tickets too. Turkish Airlines flight to Bilbao

Because a reliable source was not cited, you have deleted the change (flights to Bilbao) I made in Turkish Airlines destinations page. However, the same information without a reference or citation that says flights will begin in 28th of May is still in Bilbao Airport page. Shouldn't that content be deleted as well? As an airline employee, we regularly check the airlineroute.net for the latest updates in schedules/changes. Thanks. Vladivostox (talk) 11:14, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Yes, it should be deleted as well. Please bear in mind that the requirement of any fact for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth. Non-notable general aviation airport.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Biman Bangladesh Airlines

I checked about 1700 articles regarding airlines in the english Wikipedia. I noticed that there is no uniformity in the articles. The majority of the articles have the “Portals” in the “External links”, sometimes in “See also” and seldom in “References”. I think it should use a bot or others systems, that I don’t know, to give uniformity to the articles so that they all appear in the same setting. I noticed that “References” sometimes are first of “External links”, sometimes appears after; it is the same for “Airlines of Country” and “Aviation lists” that are not present in all articles. Chesipiero (talk) 13:58, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Just take a look at WP:MOS. Separately, if you click a link to any portal, you won't be redirected outside Wikipedia; thus, portals are not external links.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:00, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Nigeria Airways Flight 825

My source for the flight number can be found here[1]. A print source for the flight number is David Gero's book Aviation Disasters.

I did the link to the flight number because I was in the middle of creating an article on Flight 825. Around 40 minutes after I did the NA edit my crash article was completed.

Our editing has crossed paths before and you should know I don't do edits without a reason. WP:AGF would have been a better approach with me and you dropping me a note on my talk page. I'm online all day long and with the exception of when I'm sleeping at night, no more than a couple of hours between computer uses....William 14:51, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Well, regarding the same article, I still believe it lacks a proper reference for the number of the flight the way it is, unless the external link to AirDisaster.com is properly moved into the mainspace. Will do so if it's fine for you. Please accept my apologies for this edit.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:58, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Apology accepted. I do make mistakes too in edits.
I just put a reference in for the Flight number. Here it is.[2] It's a 3rd reliable source I just found calling it Flight 825. BTW I read about this crash in Gero's book and when I saw no article had ever been done on it, I decided to create one. Viasa Flights 742 and 897 are two other of the 12-15 crash articles I've created. I know you follow Viasa too. Cheers....William 22:21, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Hello again. I noticed you added www.planecrashinfo.com as a source for the article. I just wanted to draw your attention to this DYK nomination, where that source was regarded as unreliable by the reviewer. I'd just move the external link into a reference and wipe out this controversial one. Please tell me what do you think.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:57, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Uganda Airways Flight 775

This crash[3] doesn't have an article but I'd like to create one. Would you like to help me. The two sections I would need help with are the crash description and the cause. These are both well described at ASN but I don't want to be copying them because its plagiarism and I am not the best writer at tech stuff. If you can do those sections, I'll do the rest of the article. What do you think? I see you follow Uganda Airways....William 23:49, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Sure, no problem. Have you got some sort of sandbox to write a draft of the article into? Or maybe you prefer to create it in my own space? I think we'll be more comfortable if we get the article started that way than directly creating and editing.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:28, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
I'll start on it tomorrow. Tonight I have Florida Panthers hockey. Florida is my home. I will start the article in my sandbox and then notify you. One little tidbit of information I found on the flight and which I'll include is that Uganda's former ambassador to the Vatican was a survivor of the crash.
FYI I created Iberia Airlines Flight 602 and with the help of another editor got the Madrid Runway Disaster cleaned up. It was disastrously edited. There are at least 4 more aviation disasters with 100 plus dead without articles. They're all on my to do list. Sources are scarce on them, the articles are going to be stubs. Kind of like Air France Flight 212 (1969) which I also created. I try to create articles on big crashes that have no article like Agadir air disaster, Viasa Flight 742, or 1973 Kano Nigeria Air Disaster or less deadly crashes that for some reason are interesting to me like Laoag International Airlines Flight 585, Royal Air Maroc Flight 630 or Northwest Airlink Flight 5719. The pilot of 5719 was a head case who took 17 other people along with himself to a grave. Go read the article I used as a source for him....William 00:52, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Don't you see that there's a missing source in the “References” section?. I'm just requesting you to fix that error, since it's your edit that messed the article up the way it is, regardless the information it contains is wrong or not. You're using no common sense in maintaining the page in its current version. Given that you show no will in fixing your error, I will do it for you. By the way, I'm among the editors that took the article to its latest version by adding references where appropriate and making the necessary tidy, and you show less or no civility when threatening with reporting me to an admin. This is a community with guidelines and policies. As you are a new editor, I suggest you to take a look and familiarise with them before interacting with others.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:52, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Beacuse i talked with El Al and they wrote that they are operates only to Liege and New York. I have to say that Ankara and Lithuania are not destinations that El Al Cargo wants to operate cargo flights, and if they were they would choose Istanbul or Vilnius... They prefer destinations like Paris,London,Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Zurich and Chicago. Please do not add things that you are don't know. Thank you.--Friends147 (talk) 12:08, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
I repeat again that I'm not against anybody. It's just that "things that you know" or "things that you don't know" do not apply here. All information must be backed by reliable sources. Commonly held beliefs and rumours are not a valid argument. The requirement for inclusion is verifiability and not truth.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:15, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

@Friends, did you also call up Kalitta Air and confirm their destinations before reverting my edit? and why have you deleted the question regarding Kalitta I posted at your talk page rather than answer it? I dont know where to post this thought you might be able to help, ClueBoTNG is reverting even minor edits such as adding the grey colour code to a terminated destination, reporting false positive thrice in the case of Kalitta destinations has not helped, now it seems to be popping up in other articles too terming some edits possible vandalisn to be reported if false positive, why? its not common but its happening. 116.71.5.99 (talk) 16:10, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Congrats and FAMA

Dear Jetstreamer, First of all I would like to congratulate for your work. Secondly you seem the right person to suggest writing an English version of the article about FAMA, found only in Castellano: Flota Aérea Mercante Argentina. It would certainly enrich the history of aviation in Argentina. Have a nice holiday and BRGDS, (Brunoptsem (talk) 14:21, 12 April 2012 (UTC))

Hello Brunoptsem, thanks for your words. I actually tried to gather information regarding the airline some time ago, but failed so far in doing so. Will try to take an alternative way soon and see what I can('t) do. Regards.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:05, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
No worries, mate. Whatever you do, I know it will be well done (among other things your airline destination lists are a work of art). BRGDS (Brunoptsem (talk) 23:59, 16 April 2012 (UTC))

PLUNA

Hi Jetstreamer,

I received the message from you regarding the dates I had added to Pluna's historical fleet yesterday. Sorry about that. I'm not an expert at adding sources, especially when they are subscription based, but if you'd like to know what they were, they are:

Ascend Online Fleets (online.ascendworldwide.com) Aero Transport Data Bank (www.atdb.aero)

Both are the most respected commercial aviation databases online, although unfortunately non-subscribers are only allowed to see a very limited amount of their content. Free sources such as Airfleets (www.airfleets.net) can also back my numbers up.

Currently I work as an aviation analyst for Ascend, so you could even cite me as a source.

Thanks, Maximo

Hi. When you recently edited Aeroflot accidents and incidents in the 1990s, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Oktyabrsky (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Problems with references in many articles

Hello there. I'm noticing that many of the pages I watchlist are having problems with the referencing system, informing that one or many references are missing, when they are actually there (you may check Aerolíneas Argentinas for instance). The problem seems to be with references cited many times in the same article only. Has anyone mistankenly modified a template or something? Please check it out. Thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 13:31, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

That happens when a ref is reused using <ref name="xxx" /> but the original <ref name="xxx">...some source...</ref> was removed. You have to find the original ref and replace one of the reuses with it. WikiBlame can help identifying which edit removed a certain string. Regards SoWhy 13:59, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I know that, but neither of the references I'm talking about has been removed, yet there are a lot of reds in the "References" section in many of the articles I mention (e.g. Aerolíneas Argentinas, Ethiopian Airlines). Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 hasn't been edited since mid-April and it also has warnings of missing references. Particularly for Ethiopian Airlines, the reference numbering restarts many times throughout the article. Something weird is going on here...--Jetstreamer Talk 14:05, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Solved for now, so I removed the {{help}} and {{admin-help}} tags.--Jetstreamer Talk 15:20, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Glad to hear that. What was the problem? Regards SoWhy 15:24, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
I really don't know, I did nothing for it to show up, but it fortunately went out. Many thanks for your time.--Jetstreamer Talk 15:28, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

The references(Look at the reference section of the article. It is in red.) are all messed up and in need of your attention. I'll fix them but give you first crack at it if you don't have time....William 12:11, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi William! That's a problem with many, many pages, and I didn't do anything to the article for it to look that way. I raised my concern regarding this point yesterday (see the thread above). Perhaps it will be useful if you also place a concern somewhere, but I will look assistance from someone right now. Regards.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:19, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Lots of red notices again in the References section of many articles, as pointed out by another user this time. Does anybody know what is going on here?--Jetstreamer Talk 12:22, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
With Flight 593, the only way I see fixing it is to strip the article down to text and then re-add the references. BTW if I did that, I'd likely discard some of the online citations. I see no reason why multiple references are needed for a sentence saying how many people are on board or that there were unauthorized people in the cockpit. Even if I were to take out some of the multiple references, the article should have in the vicinity of 10 and as we both know that's a good total for a 20 year old plane crash. I'll also look to google news archive for articles on the crash when it happened. Let me know what you think....William 12:54, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm waiting for a response of anybobody telling me why lots of references suddenly dissapeared from many articles. This happended yesterday and then the problem got fixed some time later. I wonder if this has something to do with the navigator we both are using. Right now, I'm using Internet Explorer 9, with the RTM (KB982861) update. I'd prefer to leave anything the way it is until the issue is solved or an explanation is provided. By the way, the same problem is present at Ethiopian Airlines and Aerolíneas Argentinas, and LAM Mozambique Airlines, just to mention some articles.--Jetstreamer Talk 13:20, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
@William. Regarding the removal of references, I think it's not a good idea to take them out from any article because they can be useful later. In the case you think some are not currently useful, you may move them to the bottom of the article and place them between a <!-- -->, thus hidding them from any reader. Nevertheless, in the particular case of this article, most of the references are necessary given that they provide different information each, despite it seems they are redundant. It took me some time to get them gathered, so I beg you not remove them from the mainspace. --Jetstreamer Talk 13:20, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
The reference in this article and some of those airline ones, run all together. The references are longer than the sentences. It is very hard on the eyes if someone is trying to pick through it to find what's wrong.
I can't read it and frankly I get a headache just looking at it. Frankly I never understood why accessdates are important. You or another editor found the information on 1-22-2011. To a reader, is that important? Frankly from the point of a reader, it's not. From the viewpoint of this editor, its TMI.
The only way I can fix this article is to strip it, and put the references back in that best serve the article. You don't want to lose references, well right now some of them are lost because a reader is unable to see them because they're broken....William 14:09, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
The references are broken but not because of my fault. I'm waiting for any response regarding this matter. Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 has not been edited since mid-April and it also has the same issue. Regarding accessdates and all the stuff included in citation templates, you may like it or not, but they are there for some purpose. In fact, they are required for most of the reviewers when trying to take articles to GA or FA status. That's the reason other editors and me include such stuff. Information may change rapidly for some articles and the references should be provided with an accessdate to let readers and editors know the last update.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:27, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Please read this WP:Citation clutter. Four citations on the sentence about the sun being on the flight deck is overkill. Three of the IC aren't used anywhere else in the article....William 18:59, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
WP:CITECLUTTER states that A good rule of thumb is that one footnote after a sentence is almost always sufficient, two or three may be a good way of preventing linkrot for online sources or providing a range of sources that support the fact, and more than three should be avoided as clutter. All sentences in the article comply with these guidelines, except for a single one in the lede, where one single reference has been split in two (not by me, by the way), as the source has been archived in order to keep the link alive for the future. I'm already familiar with these guidelines; I actually had a discussion with one editor at Kenya Airways regarding the matter, and a third opinion was requested.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:11, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

  • I insist on asking the same question: Does anyone knows if someone is modifying templates or something that make articles look like they are missing some references?--Jetstreamer Talk 14:46, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
I have fixed Ethiopian Airlines by removing the {{date}} templates from the article. The ones nested inside citation tags were left alone. The same fix worked on Aeroflot Flight 593. I don't know what caused this problem as the {date} template itself has not been changed since 2010. The best person to ask would be User:WOSlinker or User:Pigsonthewing. Thank your very much for the information and for your response.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:30, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
The use of {{date}} in the mainspace makes references to appear as if they were broken

Hello WOSlinker and Pigsonthewing! I'm posting this question here to follow the discussion above, and I'm requesting help from both of you because Diannaa suggested so. Can you please explain me why the use of {{date}} messes up the article in such a way that references appear as if they were broken? For instance, this is occurring at Aerolíneas Argentinas. I'll appreciate your help. Thanks in advance. Regards.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:44, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

I've fixed the problem at Aerolíneas Argentinas. The use of {{date}} for spelling out a date in the text causes a restart in the numbering of the references. The removal of the template from the mainspace (except for the occurrences within citation templates) avoids the issue. I still just don't know why...--Jetstreamer Talk 22:07, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Something to do with an invalid #time which causes and error when placed between two refs. See User:WOSlinker/time ref error for short example. Don't know why though. I'll raise it at WP:VPT -- WOSlinker (talk) 22:46, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Aerolineas Argentinas, PLUNA + in general

Dear Jetstreamer, I see you deleted some constructive amendments I made to the Aerolineas Argentinas fleet table, as with PLUNA a couple of weeks ago. As someone who has worked in the aviation industry for eight years and knows most Latin American fleets from the back of my hand, I would just like to state that many of the "accepted" sources and references are either outdated or unreliable. Aerolineas Press Releases and news articles, for example, are never known for their accuracy. Some links (eg. references numbers 105 thru 107 on Aerolineas Argentinas page) don't even lead you to where the numbers have been fed from.

That five Boeing 737-800s remain on order with the carrier is an old rumour that the leasing company involved (AWAS) has already denied.

Further down, where it says "citation needed" for the MD-83s and MD-88s passing into the airline's historical fleet, you can look at http://linea-ala.blogspot.com among other sources to see confirmation that the type was formally retired on 31st March 2012. You don't have to dig deep to corroborate this.

And, as per a source of mine who worked nearly 50 years for sister airline Austral, there are no Aerolíneas Argentinas A340s in storage at present, just one or two in regular maintenance. He sends me almost daily reports via email of what is and what is not in service, complete with dates for when aircraft go into or are taken out of service.

I work for the leading aviation database Ascend Online having previously spent seven years collaborating for its rival, the AeroTransport Data Bank. The former employs a team of researchers to ensure fleet data is as up-to-date and accurate as possible, so that customers can see their portfolios past and present accurately reflected. This is an endless job for which ultimately, clients pay for. Inaccurate reflection of their fleets can in some cases land us in legal hot water.

As such, a lot of the more accurate information is ironically not readily viewable to the public, unless they pay for it. So my dilemma with Wikipedia is how to show this more accurate data while not being able to link to publicly-viewable sources. Maybe you have some suggestions, or you can cite me as an official source as an Aviation Analyst (which is my job title). I would be happy to share some of the knowledge I have accrued over the years so long as it can in some way be reflected as my own.

Many thanks.

All the best,

Máximo Gainza — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.128.115.14 (talk) 16:02, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

The requirement for inclusion is verifiability, not truth. Regards.--Jetstreamer Talk 16:09, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Re your comment

Thanks Jetstreamer. Like I said, I can't link my sources as most of their content is embargoed to non-subscribers.

Please be aware, however, that there are glaring inaccuracies in both the aforementioned fleets (among others) and I have seen on numerous occasions on Wikipedia well-researched, up-to-date information getting overwritten by less well-informed authors, including some of my stuff in the past.

I'd argue that truth can count more than verifiability, as one can easily verify that a source used is an unreliable one yet it's been used anyway. Note that the well-respected printed versions of Britannic Encyclopaedias were never splashed with numbers everywhere backing up every single fact or assertion.

Best,

Máximo — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.128.115.14 (talk) 16:21, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Need adm help with articles

Dear Jetstreamer, someone with IP only has been constantly making incorrect changes to Azul Brazilian Airlines destination table (I dream of making one like you do!) and Zona da Mata Regional Airport. The airport is located in a small municipality called Goianá but serves the much larger metropolitan area of Juiz de Fora. The latter is the main destination point but the IP insists in placing Goianá or even more incorrect Rio Novo as destination. Furthermore, the person is changing geo-locations to ones different than the ones provided by the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil. In the past I would have asked the administrator mjroots to place both articles in semi-protection but he/she is presently sick. Are you able to do it or do you know an adm that would? I guess a fortnight would be enough. I thank you a lot for your help. Un gran abrazo, Bruno (Brunoptsem (talk) 01:34, 4 May 2012 (UTC)) P.S. I humbly updated PU's destination tables because the airline is not operating anymore to VCP.

Biman Revision

Why did you revert my edit? Biman is going to store a F-28 and 3 DC-10s. I have reference.

User:Ahnaaf

You didn't add a reference for your last edit, and only remarked that the airline would phase out some aircraft and will take delivery of another ones in an uncertain period, as you provided no firm dates. This is plainly balling. The article is a good article, please treat it as such.--Jetstreamer Talk 10:41, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Reference citations and protocols assistance

Just wanted to say thanks for cleaning up the CIA reference and footnote on Ethiopian 961. I had happened to notice the CIA press release in Yahoo News because it disclosed previously unnamed CIA officers who'd died in the line of duty, and then inserted what I errantly presumed would be a simple addition. Not so with Wiki! Since I am way too much of a novice when it comes to certain protocol and template usages, do you have any suggestions for learning more about the protocols, etc.? Is there the equivalent of a Dummies book somewhere in the Wiki World? I know there are a lot of Help pages but some of them are a bit complicated right at the get-go...

I made changes about ET destinations in Somaliland. Sadly I couldn't find official press release from ET but there are plenty of news sites giving this press release on their sites. You can also check www.amadeus.net were you can find actual timetables of ET flights. The flights to Hargeisa are cancelled and flights to Berbera with correct times are added beginning of July. Could it be enough to make these changes? If not then please remove Hargeisa from the list as there are currently no flights from Addis Ababa. You can check it from www.amadeus.net or from any other international booking system.Vatse (talk) 07:41, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

I have added Berbera as a new destination for the carrier following ET's official announcement. Addition of unsourced contents at Nigeria Airways Flight 2120

I did cite the sources. I really don't see your problem with my edit? I find your explanations as to why you keep removing my edit rather strange. The sources are there, cited and I made the respective reference. I checked out all guidelines and Terms of Use. If I'm mssing something please explain. I'm not planning on having and edit war. I'm just curious as to what you think I'm doing wrong? Thank You

You did not cite any source at all, you only included urls in the edit summary. Besides, you say you do not want an edit war, but you reverted my edits twice, and only posted a comment on my talk page after a three-level warning. As per, WP:V, all information included in Wikipedia should be backed by reliable sources. The sentence of the article you've been modifying has one source (from Flight International, a very renown one, by the way), and the modifications you introduced are not included on it. That's why I reverted your edits thrice, so far. If you're planning to add the reference from YouTube, let me tell you in advance that that is not a reliable source. Hope this clarifies the matter.--Jetstreamer Talk 23:48, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Article about FLOTA, ALFA and Sandrighams

Dear Jetstreamer, the Brazilian aviation magazine Flap International www.revistaflap.com.br has just published a beautiful article about Argentinean Sandrighams operated by FLOTA and ALFA, including photos and comprehensive history. Should you want a copy, please let me know, telling how you want it to reach you: mail, fax, or e-mail. BRGDS, Bruno (Brunoptsem (talk) 14:57, 27 June 2012 (UTC))

It's a very kind offer from you, thank you very much. It'd be great to have a copy. You can follow this link ---> mail me to arrange the delivery method, yet the PDF version is by far the easier way. Again, thanks.--Jetstreamer Talk 15:06, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Air Namibia adds new Embraer to fleet

Saw that Air Namibia added a new embraer to fleet - would be an ERJ135 like the rest - from it's website :) http://www.airnamibia.com.na/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.203.91.120 (talk) 21:13, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Edit War @ MDW

Hi! I know you are a very smart person and know what you are doing. I am at my 3 edits, it is officially an edit war at Chicago Midway International Airport. Could you visit the Talk:Chicago Midway International Airport and put your input in. Thanks! Kairportflier (talk) 23:47, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Is the users edits to Philadelphia International Airport allowed? He used just words as sources. Also all of the users OAG edits on airport pages are not sourced so none of the info is supported. Kairportflier (talk) 00:08, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
This is not a valid reference, of course.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:12, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
I didn't think so, and what about all of his edits that are not sourced... what can I do about it other then erase it. But he doesn't respond on his talk page. Kairportflier (talk) 00:13, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Also could you (because I don't know how) fully protect MDW. Thanks! Kairportflier (talk) 00:21, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

I cannot do that 'cause I'm not an administrator.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:22, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Can you request it then, or tell me how. Thanks! Kairportflier (talk) 00:24, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
You may contact User:MilborneOne.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:28, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Also, what do we do with all of his other edits that are the OAG things? NONE have sources. Kairportflier (talk) 00:28, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Apologies

I would like to express my sincere apologies for giving the appearence of disruptive editing. I assure you I was only editing in good faith and trying to improve the appearence of the article. I was in no way trying to distrupt or vandalise the page. As stated in the edit summary I was trying to update the reference. I do not understand why you were so hostile to me over such an insignificant matter. For the sake of peace in the community, I am voluntarily ceasing edting as to no longer offend you or anyone else. Merge?

Hi, I am just wondering if you think this page should be merged into the main airline article? Thanks --JetBlast (talk) 21:54, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

I think it should, as the list is not that long to justify a stand-alone article.--Jetstreamer Talk 21:56, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
Where would we go from here to propose this? Do we add a particular tag please? Thanks --JetBlast (talk) 22:01, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
This was discussed not so long ago at WP:AIRLINE's talk page. The corresponding thread has likely been archived.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:07, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Could you possibly check this article out so far as facts go? It started out as a Ryan Kirkpatrick creation(before he got banned), Was made into a redirect by YSSY Guy(I disagree with him bolding it. This was the worst ever crash involving a Fairchild Hiller FH-227) and then resurrected by a 3rd editor who re-wrote it using Spanish sources. One of which is a broken link now but internet archive might be of help. I know you speak Spanish, which I don't, which is why I was asking your help. The article is in need of re-writing. Ryan had the cause in the article but the new edition doesn't. Please reply back here. I'll be checking....William 16:27, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

I'll keep an eye on the article...--Jetstreamer Talk 14:31, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Ethiopian Airlines

That info is incorrect. Because that is not the correct information! Ethiopian Airlines doesn't have another -200LR on order, and there is no such thing as a -300F... Check your info please. Thank you.AerospaceAirAviation (talk) 04:46, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Regarding your first claim, the article already had a referene supporting the acquisition of an additional 777-200LR, and another source was added, so you're clearly wrong with this. As to your second one, it is the way stated in the archived version of the airline's fleet page. I cannot be responsible for errors made by the airline in its webpage, so raise your concerns directly to the company.--Jetstreamer Talk 13:07, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Ethiopian Airlines 777-200LR order update

Hello. I did add a reference to the Boeing Press Release (which I would consider a reliable source) in my edit summary. I did not add a reference to the order column on the Fleet Page because I did not see a reference for the orders for the 737-800 in that column, but if necessary, I can do so (http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=2350). Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiskaloo (talkcontribs) 15:23, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
Just a few comments:

  • First of all, thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia
  • Anytime you add information, please back it up by providing at least a reliable reference in the mainspace, not in the edit summary. Please bear in mind that most of the readers don't even notice that there exists either an edit summary for any edit or a history for articles, so please ensure that your place the url of your source between <ref></ref>. Despite there exist citation templates, you don't have to worry about tidiness, as any other editor or a bot will improve your edit later.
  • Ethiopian Airlines' article already has two references regarding the new order for a 777-2000LR.

If you want to know anything else about citing sources, you're kindly invited to take a look at this page. Again, thanks. --Jetstreamer Talk 15:48, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Editing Help

Thank you for your lovely and reliable information! But I have a question.

Lets say someone edited some information on a Wikipedia page, but they have no account. And when you re-add the right information, how do you send a message to that user, noting why that info has been re-added again, even though they do not have an account? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AerospaceAirAviation (talkcontribs) 17:52, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

You should go to the talk page of the corresponding editor (an IP editor in this case) and post the note you want there. Templates in this page may be helpful.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:22, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

It's been a month since you last edited this review page, and there has been significant progress in the interim. Are you still continuing with this review, or should it be put back into the GAN pool for another reviewer? Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:05, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

You should also mention that the last of my suggestions were implemented only ten days ago. I will continue with the review as soon as I have time to do so.--Jetstreamer Talk 01:10, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Move request

Hi there! Can anyone please move List of Balkan Bulgarian Airlines destinations back to Balkan Bulgarian Airlines destinations. The latter is the standard naming for airline destinations. I'd do it all by myself but don't have admin priviledges. Thank you.--Jetstreamer Talk 13:31, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

There is already a redirect in place. Gavin Perch talk 16:55, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm precisely asking for the redirect to be undone. You're not an administrator. Why did you respond to my request?--Jetstreamer Talk 17:02, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
  • You didn't need an admin for that, the redirect had no history outside of its creation. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:39, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Ethiopian Airlines Retiring 757s and 767s

Hi Jetstreamer!

I found 2 articles saying that Ethiopian Airlines is planning on retiring their 757s and 767s soon! I would like you to read it and see if that is some good information that is worth you putting on the Ethiopian Airlines fleet page.

Heathrow - Airlines & Destinations

Hi,

I'd like to make a suggestion for the Airlines & Destinations section of the Heathrow airport page as I'm not good with inserting links. Lufthansa Regional (operated by Eurowings) would not appear to be flying to LHR at all since February or March 2012. If you go to Lufthansa.com, you will see that all flights from Düsseldorf and Hamburg are operated by Lufthansa themselves, no matter what date you enter or what flight you select. Therefore, it would probably make sense to remove Lufthansa Regional from the list of current operators to LHR. Especially since, working next to LHR's northern runway, I haven't seen one of their aircraft here since the winter.

Also, it would be good to see if there is any official confirmation that Colombian carrier Avianca will start services to LHR in 4Q 2012, as has been strongly rumoured.

Thanks,

MG — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.128.115.14 (talk) 16:11, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

airline destination page

Hi, just a thought and would like your opinion on this. At present most of the airline destination article table is a huge table with 'colour coded' rows. It contains information mixed up. Is it a good idea to suggest a project to split airline destination wiki articles to two separate tables. The first table will list all the operationally active ones, and the second one lists terminated, seasonal, chartered flights etc with colour coding. There is a downside to this is. The 'maintenance' will be a bit of overhead since it involves moving rows when an airline discountues/terminates a flight, however for the user - this will really help in my view since in most cases, reader will be looking for operationally active ones (for e.g while planning journey). --Smet (talk) 21:34, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Terminated destinations are currently included (or should be) in each airline destination list. Notwithstanding, I recommend you to raise the discussion at WP:AIRPORTS' talk page to get other opinions.--Jetstreamer Talk 22:13, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Admin help needed at Atatürk International Airport

Hello. Can any admin please take a look at this user's contributions? S(he) keeps adding to the article images that were not taken at the airport, as well as removing maintenance templates from the page. So far, I warned him/her twice. Sockpuppetry suspected as well. Thank you.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:02, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

I have checked the user's editing history, and you are quite right about the problems with their editing. I have given a level 3 warning, with a little more detail about some of the problems than you gave. If the problems still continue please feel welcome to contact me on my talk page. The IP address is probably the same person, but I don't see that use of both the IP and the account has been abusive. JamesBWatson (talk) 08:40, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

BA cargo

Can their destinations be added to BA destinations lsit as all three aircraft are in full BA livery. 59.103.214.102 (talk) 12:54, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

No, they can't. Global Supply Systems includes not enough references to support that the company flies on BA's behalf.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:57, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
But here is BA cargo freighter schedule http://www.baworldcargo.com/schedule/longhaul_w2011.pdf listing all destinations served using GSS 748F in full BA livery. 119.154.238.45 (talk) 18:32, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Those destinations correspond to both BA and Iberia. Which airline serves which destinations?--Jetstreamer Talk 18:35, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
All are served by BA, Iberia does not operate freighter aircraft, all aircraft are in BA livery, schedule is for BA Cargo from their website. 119.154.238.45 (talk) 18:53, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
The timetable you added to Global Supply Systems specify that the cities included are served by BA World Cargo. Sorry, but I still don't see the connection between both companies. The article still lacks such connection (supported by at least a reliable reference).--Jetstreamer Talk 20:35, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Exactly why they should be moved to BA destinations list as they are not GSS own destinations. 59.103.215.235 (talk) 21:23, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Mmmmm, perhaps you're right. But what to do with GSS?--Jetstreamer Talk 21:25, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Let it remain as other ACMI carriers articles with no destinations mentioned, like Atlas Air, World Airways etc. 59.103.215.235 (talk) 21:35, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
I will add the cargo dest's into British Airways destinations tomorrow. You've convinced me that they should be there. Thanks. Wanna do it on your own?--Jetstreamer Talk 21:57, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Done. 42.201.209.1 (talk) 18:55, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Excellent. Well done!--Jetstreamer Talk 19:38, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
