Democracy Fund as an organisation does appear to be independent and reliable. Re: Helping with articles on Roman women
Hi, Oulfis. Thanks for showing interest in mining Marie-Therese Raepsaet-Charlier's work for articles. Here are my suggestions.
Writing biographical articles for the early Roman Empire really aren't that much different from writing them for later periods; people are born, they receive some education, get married, have a career, have children, & die. The problem is that -- more for women than men -- a lack of information. Classicists can work around this lack of information to some degree thru careful extrapolation from what we know -- have a look at Ignota Plautia as one example of determining the existence of someone we otherwise have no evidence existed -- but far too often all we can do is offer a brief sketch of an individual, if that. So don't be discouraged that there might not be enough information about someone; sometimes just providing a few basic facts is enough.
As an example of what can be done about women, let me recommend Sarah B. Pomeroy's The murder of Regilla: a case of domestic violence in antiquity, (Harvard University Press, 2007). While I have a few quibbles with Pomeroy's book, I cannot deny the fact that she took a tiny bit of information -- barely a paragraph in one book -- & used it as the base to reconstruct a reasonably detailed profile of an upper-class woman of the 2nd century. (And I'll also admit the book is a good read. Better than some historical works I've tried to slog thru & failed.) One thing Pomeroy did was to work with evidence of similar people of the time -- she has a chapter about how women were raised in 2nd century Rome -- as well as explain some of the expected events in Regilla's life.
As for writing articles, I'd suggest either starting with adding material to existing articles, or with any entries in Raepsaet-Charlier's work that are reasonably detailed. I'll warn you now: some entries will be little more than a name & some speculations. Inevitably there will be issues of Notability; I say trust your instincts on that score, & if the article ends up at AfD, let me & others know. (At worst, we'll figure out a way to salvage the content & add it to another article.) If you want a guide to how much material is needed to make an article, have a look at any of the articles on Roman consuls I wrote -- the less familiar the name, probably the better for what you are doing. If you don't understand some of the terminology, feel free to either ask me or at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Classical Greece and Rome. I'll admit I sometimes don't understand what I'm writing about, or only learn later the significance of something mentioned in one of my sources. Or, perhaps most important, don't realize that an article needs to explain something in more detail. I look forward to seeing what you can make of this work. - Hello @Aven13: It's exciting to see more interest in the Kubla Khan article! Thanks for reaching out. I personally think the article still needs rather a lot of work, but since the GA standards are a little generous I suppose it might be nearly ready. For the most part I didn't add new sources, I assumed good faith for the sources that were already cited, but it looks like my university library can give me digital access to most of the books the previous editors used, so I can help with a source check. This upcoming week is likely to be a busy one for me, so I'd prefer not to co-nom, but I'm happy to help out. - As for the source checking, mostly the section on critical reception - every one of those sources is offline, and they can sometimes get mixed up.
- What do you think needs work? Though I don't have access to a huge library, I can write prose, so I can probably help to fix most of the issues you see with the article. The only major issue I see with this article is that the themes section seems a tad lengthy, but that's typical of poem articles (see Ode on a Grecian Urn), and since this one covers quite a few topics, that length is to be expected. - It's been a while since I've thought about this article (I've been focusing on Beachy Head (poem)), but looking again, a lot seems overlong or poorly explained, though not necessarily unacceptable. I think the style section is a bit underdeveloped (repetitive and unstructured) and the reception section is too much of a "wall of text," though the poem's reception is certainly worth a lot of discussion. The major themes are not as well written as they could be (I think the Tatars section especially could use a revision for cultural sensitivity, and to add information about orientalism in the Romantic period). I remember thinking previously that some of the information in the reception section really belonged in "major themes"; I think I was planning to add sections on musicality and sexuality somewhere... but a lot of that is not absolutely necessary. Overall I am less annoyed by the article than I was when I was first working on it, so I think it is not as bad as I remembered. I'd be happy to source-check and revise the reception section; looking at it with fresh eyes, I think breaking it down into thematic sections and being a bit more selective with quotations would go a long way. ~ oulfis 🌸(talk) 21:25, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Colons
Hi. Per your edit summary here, I wanted to explain what the problem is with the colon in this instance. You are correct that a colon can be used to initiate a quotation if the introductory sentence is a fully independent clause, and you are obviously right that the introductory clause here could stand as independent. However, in the sentence in question, Travers is arguing a specific point, meaning that the quotation is actually integrated as part of what he's arguing; in this usage, "argued" and "argues" are being used as what MLA describes as "verbs of saying". See the Introducing Quotations section here. To use a colon in this spot, you'd have to expand the introduction into something like "Travers' Rolling Stone review argued that the purpose of family was central to the film:". Please use the proper HTML tag for this, <s>...</s> (or the {{s}} AKA {{strikethrough}} template wrapper for it). The old <strike>...</strike> version has not been valid markup since the 1990s.
