GA Cup

Hello everyone! We hope you have all been having a great summer!

As we all know, the recent GAN Backlog Drives have not had any big impact on the backlog. Because of that, me (Dom497), Figureskatingfan, and TheQ Editor have worked on an idea that could possibly finally put a dent into the massive backlog. Now, I will admit, the idea isn't entirely ours as we have took the general idea of the WikiCup and brought it over to WikiProject Good Articles. But anyways, here's what we have in mind:

For all of you that do not know what the WikiCup is, it is an annual competition between several editors to see who can get the most Good Articles, Featured Article's, Did You Know's, etc. Based of this, we propose to you the GA Cup. This competition will only focus on reviewing Good articles.

For more info on the proposal, click here. As a FYI, the proposal page is not what the final product will look like (if you do go ahead with this idea). It will look very similar to WikiCup's page(s).

The discussion for the proposal will take place here. Please let us know if you are interested, have any concerns, things to consider, etc.

LG errors

Hello, sorry if i'am bothering you but here i've done a big error →https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Adriano_Bernandes_da_Silva← I moved a draft but i forgot to remove USER and now i cannot do move the page, can you move the page?→(Adriano Bernandes da Silva)

And last can you delete this redirect https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Lglukgl/Stole_Dimitrievski&redirect=no?

Thanks and sorry--Lglukgl (talk) 23:41, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Matty, how are you?
It's not his first nor will be his last, I did a "temporary fix" over these pages but, speaking frankly, I'm very frustrated with his contributions in here. Cheerio, MYS77 23:58, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
Also, we (me and Vasco, as nobody else replied) talked about him in WP:FOOTY some months ago (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football/Archive_86#User:Lglukgl). Thanks, MYS77 00:03, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
  • As it seems, my friend, I told him a hundred times to use OFFICIAL sources, but does he want to listen to me? No, for sure. Keeps telling me that TUTTOMERCATOWEB (a sensationalist Italian tabloid) is 100% reliable. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm just dropping some lines to ease my frustration with his contributions. Cheers, happy week. MYS77 00:37, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi,

Matilda Maniac and myself have been contending with a string of speculative additions of friendlies to 2015 Australia national soccer team season by anon IP's, especially 181.136.243.151 lately.

Could it be possible to A) block this disruptive IP? and B) maybe semi-protect the page?

Thank you, --SuperJew (talk) 06:11, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles - GA Cup

WikiProject Good articles is holding a new competition, the GA Cup, from October 1, 2014 - March 28, 2015. The Cup will be based on reviewing Good article nominations; for each review, points will be awarded with bonuses for older nominations, longer articles and comprehensive reviews. All participants will start off in one group and the highest scoring participants will go through to the second round. At the moment six rounds are planned, but this may change based on participant numbers.

Some of you may ask: what is the purpose for a competition of this type? Currently, there is a backlog of about 500 unreviewed Good article nominations, almost an all time high. It is our hope that we can decrease the backlog in a fun way, through friendly competition.

Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors! Sign-ups will be open until October 15, 2014 so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the four judges.

Cheers from NickGibson3900, Dom497, TheQ Editor and Figureskatingfan.

Eliseu

Can you delete redirect Eliseu and rename Eliseu Pereira dos Santos to Eliseu? SLBedit (talk) 18:28, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Matty, how are you?

Another one who isn't fully pro. Can you delete it?

Cheerio, MYS77 04:11, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

And another one: Viale (footballer). Also it would be helpful to talk with User:Royroydeb about his English in his new pages. In Pol García the language is EXTREMELY poor, whilst in a BUNCH of pages (Francisco Antonio Candela Pascual, Munir Mohand Mohamedi, Jon García Herrero, Dani Barrio, Carlos Indiano de Marcos, Igor Arnáez Martín, Enric Pi and Carlos Castro García) I fixed almost everything in his page.
I know that a storyline isn't obligatory, but Wikipedia is an ENCYCLOPEDIA, right? I think if we are creating a bunch of stub pages, we're doing no more than copying and pasting data from Soccerway, BDFutbol or any other football website.
Cheerio, thanks for the help! MYS77 05:40, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
Sorry man, this last one passes, but the pages are still poor. Cheers, MYS77 14:46, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Matty, how are you?

Can you please help me with this guy? Edits mainly in everything related to CA Osasuna, but keeps including ALL apps in the box, not only the League ones. I've tried to reach him twice, but he didn't answered me (and seems not to care about the messages).

Thanks, MYS77 15:50, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Ah, and now left his "Osasuna circle" and did this with Ryan Giggs too. MYS77 15:51, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi there Matty, how's it going (me fine, my translation endeavour is reaching its conclusion, haven't bothered you with grammar doubts these last weeks, have i?)?

Please read this message where i refer to this person (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:MYS77#Idiot_sock_-_Part_2), and the subsequent follow-up i sent to User:GiantSnowman about the same situation. Maybe it's a lost battle, huh?

Kind regards, as always --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:34, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

  • Will do so whenever i spot it, although i have also asked User:MYS77 to be my "trusted sidekick" because i have little time and patience right now for "users" like this Antony type. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:29, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

And my paper is going swell, thank you very much for asking, more or less 90 pages to go. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:31, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

User:Yucheng48 still at it (sorry for bothering you again), for the THIRD TIME he has moved Juanmi's correct title, even though we also have Juanmi (footballer, born 1971), also Spanish. Time for harsher action? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:55, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering then, was only trying to help, but thanks for moving the page. Speaking of the latter (but duly discussing it), do you think these footballers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Ignacio_Fern%C3%A1ndez_Palacios, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Ignacio_Mart%C3%ADnez_Garc%C3%ADa, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignacio_Fern%C3%A1ndez_Rodr%C3%ADguez, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignacio_P%C3%A9rez_Santamar%C3%ADa) should all be moved to "Nacho (footballer, born YEAR)"? If so, we also should adjust the current Real Madrid footballer, who bears the nickname but without the year.

Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:04, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

  • Have i done anything wrong? If so, would surely love to know what if possible. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:43, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
    • Nothing like that, just I've been busy. But while I didn't respond to your previous message I did act on the issues you raised. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:52, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Me and my pickiness... Think nothing of it, happy work --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:13, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Unprotection

Do you think it is possible to unprotect Marcos Alonso Mendoza and Radja Nainggolan? They have been protected for too long (obviously i'm not the one that decides that around here, just an opinion), especially the former (what now, three years?).

I would like to make some minor contributions to the article, especially in display (the only instance where i would "mess" with the contents would be to update Nainggolan's box, he was on loan but now he's moved permanently to Roma).

Thank you very much in advance (ah, and would still very much like to know your opinion on (possibly) moving the several Nacho Spanish footballers), cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:58, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

I'd support those articles being moved to what you propose, as Nacho appears to be their WP:COMMONNAME. I agree with you regarding the protection levels of those two articles, let's see how they get on unprotected. If there's any others feel free to bring them to my attention. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:55, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Thank you very much, will now humbly do some adjustments/updates. Regarding the Nacho page moves, obviously i cannot do them as we stand now, but don't want to burden you with the action as well. Speaking of page moves, here's another by YUCHENG48 (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Elderson&diff=614885881&oldid=613199044), i suppose this one passes because player is indeed known by his first name (or WAS during his spell in my country, Portuguese sports reports have this silly - to put it mildly - custom of treating several obscure foreign players by their first name, seemingly because the last name is "too difficult to pronounce", i can attest to that being said by them in several matches, they also treat(ed) several players by a name/nickname compound mix, for example Nuno Capucho or Pedro Pauleta), but that shows his carefree M.O. ("carefree" as in "i'll move as many pages as i want, when i want, how i want").

Cheers, all the best --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:17, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

A Google News search suggests Elderson's WP:COMMONNAME is Elderson Echiéjilé and I have moved the page accordingly. This user is displaying naivety with regard to policies and an unwillingness to respond to other users' comments, so I've left them another message in the hope it helps. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:13, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
  • I support your page move 100%, but i think we must have a different approach in the player's name, see the OFFICIAL club profile (http://www.asm-fc.com/en/player/uwa-echiejile-elderson-2309.html, first name is the name the players are addressed by, below in the same official profile we have some news regarding a given player, and in two of them we can clearly see him being addressed as "Elderson": "Elderson focused on Nantes" and "Elderson presented by Keshi"), maybe now he has adopted that as his footballing name; also, maybe your Google search yielded results for his full name (in part), different from a simple footballing name.

Cheers, please reply to this message if you have any contrary opinions (don't bother answering if you concur with me 100%). I won't change anything in the article until you tell me where you stand. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:35, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

We need to cast a wide net when finding out what an individual is most commonly referred to, and not rely on one or two sources. By using a Google News search we can see that 235 sites refer to him as Elderson Echiejile, whereas 195 refer to him as just Elderson. The difference isn't massive, and if it's only recently that the player has started being known as Elderson he might become primarily known as that in the future. But for now I think Elderson Echiejile is the right option. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:45, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

I see. Newsflash: the guy that insists on adding unencyclopedical info to articles on African players (albeit ref'd, if the ref is reliable or has anything to do with what's written in the article proper i don't know) reverted me in Fabrice Olinga (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fabrice_Olinga&diff=621434171&oldid=617919902), last time you said you agreed it was not encyclopedia-like material. Still feel the same way? If you don't, and if you feel the contents add to the article encyclopedically, then revert me and sorry for any inconvenience.

Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:31, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Went to JMHamo's page, after he removed some categories that are 100% valid, and explained how the approach goes in that respect. The reply was as habitual, zilch (NEVER replied to my messages when i had an account, and he interacts with other users i see that, yourself included), really saddening for me.

Since i mentioned you in the aforementioned message, could you please drop a line there and/or see if i explained the WP guidelines properly? Thanks in advance, happy weekend. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:00, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

@84.90.219.128: - I have no problems with your explanation. I would only reply if I disagreed with you. You are one of the good guys. JMHamo (talk) 15:31, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Image size

The 'default' size differs for all users, depending on whether they are logged in or not, what preferences they have set etc. It's always better to have an actual size proscribed in the infobox. By all means feel free to scale it up on the Windass article, I have no opposition. GiantSnowman 16:46, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

More non-notable pages

Hey Matty, how are you?

I found some pages which aren't notable here: Daniel Suárez (Spanish footballer), Jacob Sánchez and Alfonso Herrero Peinador (all from Real Madrid Castilla, and they only played in Segunda B).

Cheers, MYS77 06:54, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Game over (?)

At least the translation i worked on for two 1/2 months is, and fortunately i did not have to bother you with many requests, i know you don't mind but i also have to keep in mind here was not the correct field of operations for those exchanges.

Anyhow, just to send you a big thanks for your assistance, much appreciated. Will i quit for good after this? Dunno man, enough time i stop making dull promises (even though i meant it every time i said it in the past), i guess i'll "leave when i leave"...

Cheers, thanks again --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:18, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

No worries, always happy to help. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:09, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
  • This just in! Remember last time you contacted about Jordi Gómez's stats with FC Barcelona C? Well, someone (i assume you, since you contacted me in the first place asking for references) has removed them in the infobox. User:Mega60, who works at BDFUTBOL.com and has access to a number of Spanish webs with stats, was the guy adding stats for players from several B and C Spanish ballclubs, i have total confidence in his approach even though he does not add refs or writes storyline (only infobox stuff and category additions), as his English is non-existent he confided me once.

Well, if you look at the last message in my talkpage (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:84.90.219.128#Jordi_G.C3.B3mez), you will see several links containing his C-team stats. If you have any problem with the Spanish (both in the sources and what's being said in my talkpage), please let me know and i'll translate it.

Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:50, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Assistance needed

Matty, please: in this message here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Threeohsix#Doubt), I saw a comment from user SLBedit where he talked about me in what seemed not a very positive light ("Why is he always complaining?). Found about it all by myself, without being notified, two weeks later it was originally written.

So, went to SLB's page and asked what was it about, politely but to the point. A talkpage stalker, also politely, is of the opinion, both in this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:SLBedit) and their own (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Mishae#TPS), that my actions in those two pages are similar to those of a troll.

The gut-wrenching feeling never stops I guess. Could you be so kind as to go to Mishae's page and tell him exactly where do I stand (I'd feel horribly if someone called me a vandal, but I think troll/hound is even WORSE)? I'd really appreciate it mate, you've known me for wikiyears... this will be the last favour I ask of anyone here at WP, and the last message before I retire altogether - will do the odd edit here and there, but will not engage in conversation with anyone anymore unless it's 100% necessary, let's see me being accused of any more foul play!

Cheers, thank you very much in advance (but if you want to say I'm also harassing you after this message, then by all means...) --84.90.219.128 (talk) 08:38, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Cheers, keep up the great work --84.90.219.128 (talk) 20:15, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

The way how this post looks is quite whiny (and such behavior too is not welcomed here). I'm telling you this from my experience in the past that I too used to demand apologies. Gladly, I did. But unlike you I didn't went to every single talk page and started a rant. You see, every editor makes mistakes, and I am human just like you are. Please except my apologies for the above accusation.--Mishae (talk) 20:19, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Situation resolved. Apologies to all parties involved, happy work to all. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:10, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

DEFAULTSORT problems

Hi Matty, how are you?

Can you please explain me what's the main purpose of DEFAULTSORT? As far as I know, it is used for category sorting.

But here's my main doubt: a player (Neymar, for an example) is sorted as DEFAULTSORT:Neymar. But according to other users it should be ordered as DEFAULTSORT:Da Silva Santos Júnior, Neymar! Or like he did in Jacob Sánchez (Sanchez, Jacob) and Óscar Fernández González (Fernandez Gonzalez, Oscar) while both are known as Jacob and Óscar, respectively.

Can you please explain me this?

Cheerio, MYS77 02:20, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

I think you're correct, but working primarily on English football I rarely come across mononymous players. In any case I'd avoid using edit summaries like this. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:40, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
Sorry about that (I really am), but she reverted me countless times and, despite me trying to talk to her, the only thing she did was making his edits the correct ones. Cheers, and thanks for the reply. MYS77 22:21, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
P.S.: she has been notified here. Thanks, MYS77 14:39, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
And now she simply removed my polite and calm message, without providing any further information about it. MYS77 14:45, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
  • The last one, I promise: in her last two edits, she implicitly calls me a "child person" and that I'm "insistent on making a pest of themselves" (this message is in her user and talk page), when my edits were correct (see Struway2's message in my talk page). I'm sorry for not letting this matter drop, but I don't harass anybody, and I prefer to not be harassed too. Thank you, MYS77 21:46, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the answer Matty! Happy week :) MYS77 16:40, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Adebola

Thanks. The 129/31 is verifiable from both Sky Sports Yearbook and the Hugman PFA yearbooks, and if you go to each season's Birmingham squad stats on Soccerbase, his league stats add up to 129/30 (Sky Sports has one goal more than Soccerbase for 2000/01). I'll try and find a convincing set of figures, or a clearer idea of where the discrepancy(ies?) come from, and fix it. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:54, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

Looks like the extra goal comes from this game, where Soccerbase gives the goal to Nicky Eaden. Tony Matthews' BCFC Complete Record gives it to Adebola. Mind you, there were times during that match when you couldn't see the other side of the pitch through the rain, let alone tell whether someone got a touch on a cross or not... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:22, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

Doubt about one draft

Hi Matty, how are you?

Is this draft notable enough (I mean, it passes WP:GNG)? Because it is UD Salamanca successor, and it appears a lot of times in the media for a seventh division team.

Ah, and BTW I sent you a mail (dunno if you saw it).

Chester FC edits

i see you've started a edit warring with user 2008jordancfc, but didnt finished it. I support your point of view and also found one more strange edit, calling Iwelumo first team coach (of course unreferenced) as it seems he doesnt like to discuss any controvercy, i'd like you (as a mush experienced editor than me-) to close this problem. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of York City F.C. players (25–99 appearances) may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

AQPM - Box update

Let's try it one more time, Matty?

Here, this user that you have already warned, "violated" two principles: stats are league only and you need a PC date to go along each update (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Carlos_Eduardo_de_Oliveira_Alves&diff=631207956&oldid=627280181)... Let's have another go?

Various

Contrary to the customary approach which is to use a comma in naming some articles (after the "footballer"), see this undiscussed move (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Koke_(footballer_born_1983)&diff=623180688&oldid=615227687). --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:10, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Also, see Apoño, for the SECOND TIME, UD San Pedro has been added as a youth club in spite of being senior, the PC was not updated also of course. Assistance

Hi there MATTY, how's it going?

getting serious, serious and more serious... again I have been accused of something, in this case of HATING a player for minor and innocent edits! Can you please go to this person's page and drop an additional line (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:FutbalTeamha#Javad_Nekounam)? In the meantime, please see if the tips I gave this user regarding overdetail were correct, I think they were.

Attentively, happy week --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:22, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the input, mate. As expected, i have received no feedback whatsoever, let him think what he will (that i hate Nekounam), getting tired of this! Speaking of "getting tired", i have a confession to make (amongst other stuff, all pertaining to the same article): the rampant/sick vandalism continues in Licá, with a bunch of Portuguese idiots calling him "Lord Licá" just to belittle him and inflating his stats like crazy. I must warn you the words i directed to those punks in the edit summaries are very serious (in Portuguese), if you are to take action against me i won't protest the slightest.

I think article should be protected, if only for two weeks as a "test". The comical part? I was reverted and, after communicating with the user that reverted me (i totally understand his approach, my summaries were not informative, at all), the vandals' version still stands!

Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:10, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

  • Coming to think of it, maybe Licá was a case of me feeding the trolls (if they read the summaries), for that I apologize and repeat I will not protest if warned/blocked. I will never be able to deal with vandals in a cool way, I guess pretty much EVERYONE at WP:FOOTY knows that by now. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:15, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
    • I've warned the users who vandalised the page, but I do not believe page protection is justified yet. I would highly recommend you don't write anything if it's the only alternative to biting back, there's really nothing to be achieved from doing so. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:52, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

Assistance again - Rui Barros Honours

Matty, please,

per this message (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Rpo.castro#Rui_Barros_-_Honours), could you add a few extra lines? Per WP guidelines, runner-up honours count (the rest is explained in said message), and junior and indoor stuff does not.

I explained just that in my summary, while undoing Mr.Castro. Well, what do you think his reaction was? Reinstate the wrong stuff, with no summary! Out of respect for him, I have left the wrong contents, messaged him and now you for mediation.

Attentively, thanks in advance --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:18, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi, as I writed to 84.90.219.128, for me the runner-ups honours are not an issue. As I writed to him, I removed the supercup runner up honour in July, not now, and I accept the fact of runner-ups being included (I saw experienced removing this kind of honours sistematic so I thought it was right, but seems not. Not an issue for me).
The only issue that I and 84.90.219.128 have different points of view its regarding youth and indoor honours. :I think that should be, at least somewhere in the article. 84.90.219.128 thinks that this honours don't fit in Honours chapter. Is there a guide line for this kind of articles? Where should be this information? That seems to be the question.
Best regards,Rpo.castro (talk) 08:46, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Eduardo da Silva

Sorry for reverting you on Eduardo da Silva, it was done by accident.. Thanks, JMHamo (talk) 21:45, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Punk has taken upon himself to wiki-hate this player, and on he goes. Sad part? I reverted him, without the habitual tirade in the summary, and my edit summary note also read "Possible BLP issue or vandalism"...that's WP for you!

Cheers, as always (and I think this article is in dire need of protection) --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:12, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Reporting - Doubts

All well, kind sir? Hopefully yes,

without further ado: 1 - found another IP from the Norwegian punk that removes B-clubs and youth national teams from boxes, in Andoni Zubizarreta he killed two birds with one stone and removed everything at once (see his talkpage here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:94.246.24.60).

2 - have you replied to User:MYS77's queries via e-mail yet? He says he has not received any reply yet, and the first he sent you was one or two months ago. I, unfortunately, cannot add anything to the pertinent discussion in that fashion.

Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:57, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I've contacted MYS77 now - my bad for taking so long as I don't check my Wiki mails as often as I should. Could you remind me of the name of the user you refer to in your first point? Mattythewhite (talk) 21:40, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Name? Nope, that user never had an account as far as I can remember (and that's years ago), just tons of anon IPs, like the one mentioned before (94.246.24.60, see his talkpage or what he did in Zubizarreta's article http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Andoni_Zubizarreta&diff=632842050&oldid=625496520). --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:37, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

AfD

Can you please see that Jorge Sanmiguel is deleted. Never appeared in a pro game in his career, was part of a Segunda División roster but did not play in the league, nor did he appear in the Copa del Rey that season (CD Guadalajara is the team I'm referring to) with opposition of same status.

Thanks in advance, happy weekend --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:21, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Frank Lampard

@Mattythewhite: Why are you undoing my edit and removing a reference from the article? Zafiraman Lets talk about it 21:54, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

Bonass

Hello, and thanks for the Y&DL link. I'm thinking of putting it up for GA, so if there's anything you could add from your York books it'd be much appreciated. What he did for a living, or a secondary-source date of birth consistent with the registration details (as opposed to Joyce's 1/1/1912), something about the injury at Lincoln (if it was significant at all)? So long as it doesn't make the sections unbalanced, cos I don't want to have to expand everything else to fit..... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:02, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the reference for his full name, I couldn't find one. And thanks for fixing the mistakes, obviously. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:58, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

AfD (?)

Thanks for "icing" the other article. Now, a doubt: is André Filipe Saraiva Martins, with the grand total of ONE GAME in the Veikkausliiga, notable? If not, he should be "wasted" too.

Cheers, happy weekend --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:13, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

The Veikkausliiga is a WP:FPL so I wouldn't endorse its deletion. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:49, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

Manager notability

Hi Matty, how are you?

One guy once told me that one manager is notable when he/she meets WP:FPL. But, I was thinking: an interim manager who manages one La Liga or one Segunda División team (like the case of Miguel Rivera today against Real Madrid) is notable enough?

Thanks, MYS77 22:05, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

Jason Mooney

It is clear from your history you would like to be the only one to edit Jason Mooney. Wikipedia is founded on the principle than any can edit. I sincerely hope you allow others to edit other wikipedia articles without rejecting them. 50.133.231.46 (talk) 19:33, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Feel free to edit my edit into a better sentence as you see pleased. I would appreciate it not to be deleted as heights of tall soccer players can be seen in wikipedia pages for being notable. I understand that Mooney and various York sections of wiki are seemingly close to you, so I feel confident with you in charge. 50.133.231.46 (talk) 20:38, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Jon Greening.

Not sure why my cited update has been reverted. The transferleague web site quotes £1,150,000. My own records show an initial £350k plus 5 lots of £100k for appearances plus £287,500 (25% sell on profit from Middlesbrough, being calculated on the £2m Boro paid and the £850k previously paid by MUFC to YCFC). Giving £1,137,500 in total. Thoughts please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrismf (talkcontribs) 23:16, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Norwegian punk that...

...removes B/C clubs from boxes, as well as youth national teams, here is last address I found (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/195.18.249.218).

Have a pleasant week, from Portugal --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:23, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Any possibility...

...that this user is warned again (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:213.207.164.174, and I imagine many more anon IPs, if you check the club players, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/213.7.120.241 is also him), or similar?

Getting a bit tiresome, I am the only one monitoring this AEK Larnaca F.C. players' update situation, they have not received an update from said user (and his several addresses) in two or three years. I should not complain because no one is forcing me to edit, I leave the article in particular or WP in general if I'm not content with this or that situation; just wanting to hear your intake in the matter, if you please.

Thank you very much in advance, as always --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:06, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

  • On an unrelated note, how much time do the reviews for "uncertain" edits take? Does it depend on the number of watchers the given page has (less watchers increasing the time of wait)? Last time, on Martín Demichelis, my edits were accepted five minutes after; now, on Cristian Tello, hours have passed and they (similar in M.O. to Demichelis') are still pending. Any idea why that happens?

Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:36, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

  • Tello situation has been taken care of, reviewed by a fellow user. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:39, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
    • The more watchers the more likely it is indeed to be reviewed; "many hands make light work". Mattythewhite (talk) 23:25, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

yannick bolasie

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yala-bolasie/profil/spieler/75471 is one of my sources, plus I know he is not that tall as I'm good at heights in general. So please undo the height as it is in fact 1.85 (6 foot 1) and not 1.88 (6 foot 2)

Hi, I'm afraid Transfermarkt is not a reliable source. Are there any other sites that give 6 ft 1 in? Mattythewhite (talk) 20:05, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Official Crystal Palace website, FIFA15 those are the one's I can think of. I understand your routines etc but this I know, it would be easier to just accept the change rather than argue FOR a false value (of which I can find no source which states so) — Preceding unsigned comment added by MartinRonning (talkcontribs) 19:57, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Infobox updates

Was User:Qed237 right to do a blanket revert of User:Bingseng's updates earlier? I know Bingseng failed to update the timestamp in the infoboxes, and you sent him a message saying he should attempt to do this in future, but surely it would have been better for Qed237 to update the timestamps himself instead of simply reverting in the (vain) hope that Bingseng will learn a lesson? What do you think? – PeeJay 18:28, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

It would probably have been best for Qed237 to update the timestamps, although the burden lies with Bingseng as the editor who initiated the update. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:41, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
As I suspected. I'm not completely absolving Bingseng of their responsibility to make a complete edit, I'm just saying the only reason to perform a total revert would be if they'd got the facts all wrong, which they hadn't. – PeeJay 20:38, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Michael Proctor

Hi Matty,

Apologies I'm not familiar with Wikipedia really. I was just updating Michael Proctor's page as I know him personally and noticed his media work wasn't mentioned. The description of the show is on the radio station's website here [1]FTMaxwell (talk) 15:13, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi there MATTY, AL "here",

can you please re-move this page to its last (and correct, per WP standards) denomination, "Kike (footballer, born 1988)"? Mr. ZZ86 took it upon himself to undo the move on 26 July of last year.

I also took the liberty of reverting Mr. Zafiraman on the hatnote, in my book it makes no sense adding clubs to such notes, because like I explain in my pertinent summary, it will have to be constantly updated per transfers and akin. If I was not correct there, then by all means revert me.

A merry 2015 is what I wish you, at all levels --84.90.219.128 (talk) 14:08, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Albert Bonass again

Hello. The GA review raises the matter of a career stats table, which I have agreed to provide. I can do Chesterfield and Hartlepool from online sources, and Darlo were out of the FA Cup before he signed. So all I'm lacking is his YCFC FA and Div3N Cup figures, if any. So I'd be ever so grateful if you could give me the figures and reference(s), or wait till the table appears and fill them in yourself if that'd be easier. Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 17:41, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, he made six appearances (all in the league) in 1933/34, per Batters, Dave (2008). York City: The Complete Record. Derby: Breedon Books. pp. 260–261. ISBN 978-1-85983-633-0. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:52, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
Done that then. Must have been looking at the wrong season for Darlo, they were in the FA Cup after he signed for them, so had to go through newspapers to find his non-appearances... thanks again, Struway2 (talk) 20:08, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
And thanks for fixing it... Didn't realise how tired I was yesterday, you'd have thought I'd notice the total wasn't the same as the one in the infobox. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:59, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Quick doubt: which one of the edits do you see as good/bad or constructive/unconstructive? I worked my tail of to improve article and feel that his PERSONAL section is worth including in article and is well backed up by reliable sources (for example El País). One user, that I feel is nothing more than a no-good supporter of the terrorist group ETA - I could be wrong though, I doubt it, but am prepared to apologize if need be of course), removed the whole section having the nerve of calling my additions vandalism.

The section stays, no? Where I may have incurred in any "faux pas" is if the language is not 100% neutral. I tried to do so, I have no sympathy for terrorists wherever they may come from, but I wrote it without taking any sides, to the point and without copying the sources verbatim of course.

Your intake? Thanks in advance, cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:58, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

I'd agree that the content is notable, especially considering it affected his career. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:49, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Torres

Ok, but this is sort of a dumb rule... It does not show an accurate representation of how many times that player has played for that specific club no matter if it is league or not. In the infobox it does not clarify league only, so what if someone looking up Torres thinks that is the total number of appearances, he would get the wrong information and may be misleading. I strongly disagree with this rule. Vaselineeeeeeee (talk) 20:31, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
