Can you help?

Hi, I found that you have some knowledge of codes. I have learned from Ryulong of how to add a scroll to my userboxes, but now, I would like to keep my Babel box separated from my userboxes. Do you know how to add a scroll to my Babel box? I want my Babel box to look like the original one, but just an additional of a scroll. I know I have to create MY OWN VERSION of Babel box first. Can you please help? Thank you very much! --Edmundkh 15:50, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did some enhancements - you will now probably want to create a new subpage (I used /Userboxtop) for them. Миша13 14:10, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But what I intend to do is, copy the code from Template:Babel to create my subpage, then do some edit to the code in my subpage...--Edmundkh 09:11, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've just created a subpage for myself: User:Edmundkh/Babel. Do you know how to change the code so that there will be a scroll? --Edmundkh 09:20, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, I don't mind if the height has to be fixed, like my userbox. See, my Babel box is flooded!--Edmundkh 09:21, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need a complete copy of the {{Babel}} template - it's too complicated and I simply haven't the time to dive into it. I suggest you use User:Edmundkh/Boxtop which I have created for you. Миша13 10:12, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway thank you very much for being so helpful. Even though I don't like your edits, I still highly appreciate your kindness... ;-) Erm... But do you know how to make my WikiProject boxes to be JUST BELOW my Babel box? --Edmundkh 10:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion

You recently deleted the image "Torrie Wilson Sable playboy cover Mar 2004.jpg" under the WP:CSD#I5 guideline.

I understand the deletion, as it fit the criteria. The problem is it was in use on the Torrie Wilson article, until a sort of edit war ensued. On multiple pages there was much discussion as to whether magazine covers such as this could be used in articles.

Here is a series of exchanges between myself and The Hybrid (talk · contribs):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:The_Hybrid/Archive_9#Torrie_Wilson
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:JohnDoe0007#RE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:The_Hybrid/Archive_10#RE._Torrie_Wilson

Essentially, there were a few different reasons raised as to why the images shouldn't be in articles and on multiple pages different users went back and forth a few times removing them and putting them back citing their own reasoning or saying the opposing reasoning was false. This occured while the discussion was still going on in some pages, and for the article in question (Torrie Wilson) a discussion on the talk page never emerged, as it was mostly personal exchanges on talk pages like above.

Apparently, the last time the image was removed, it was claimed that it (along with two other images) were .gif files, and therefore not allowed. This is obviously not true, at least for two of the three images.

As far as the other claims go, including those discussed by The Hybrid and myself, I requested admin input at the help desk, but it didn't prove to be too helpful, as it was archived before any admin was able to comment.

I request that the image "Torrie Wilson Sable playboy cover Mar 2004.jpg" be undeleted so that it may be appropriately used under the fair use guidelines in the Torrie Wilson article. --JohnDoe0007 08:38, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Restored. Please provide a fair use rationale on the image's page ASAP and re-add it to the article. Миша13 09:27, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Status Changer

Hi Misza13, first excuse my bad English please. I am de:User:Kuhlo from the German Wikipedia and i want to use your Status Change Script. It sounds good and helpfull. But I tried it and failed. Could you say what i did wrong? Related pages:

I would thank you if you could help me. Greetings --80.140.182.252 12:06, 31 May 2007 (UTC) de:User:Kuhlo[reply]

Several points to note:
  1. de:User:Kuhlo/Status uses "in" as the parameter, while de:User:Kuhlo/StatusTemplate expects Online/Beschäftigt/Offline
  2. de:User:Kuhlo/statusChanger.js has comment tags messed up - please copy it from here (best to do it in edit mode). Also, you have to decide on In/Busy/Out or Online/Beschäftigt/Offline here too.
  3. de:User:Kuhlo/monobook.js has a directive importJavascriptL('Benutzer::Kuhlo/statusChanger.js', 'de');. I believe there sould be only one ":".
Миша13 13:53, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK thank you for the help but the problem consists. I did what you said, but on de:User:Kuhlo/statusChanger.js there is still a problem with the outcomment. Greetings --80.140.150.234 14:18, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you need to add one more "*/" at the end of the script. Also if you changed the template to use lowercase status names, you have to change to online/beschäftigt/offline in the .js script too. Миша13 09:31, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wonderfull, it works. With help of another German user i solved it. Thanks for your help and a good day. Greetings --80.140.182.91 12:48, 1 June 2007 (UTC) de:user:Kuhlo[reply]

Who is Kate McAuliffe?

I've read your block logs, and found quite a number of inappropriate usernames you've blocked contained the name above. Who is she? Do you know? --Edmundkh 16:52, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to go ahead and steal this one from you, Misza13. I hope you don't mind. The administrators already know who she is, where she lives, and such. (If they don't, somebody needs to e-mail me and I'll tell them all I know.) It would probably be a bad idea to reveal that information here, because she is a minor. Regarding the deleted image linked above: the image was in use within the The World Today article, linked within text in the See also section. I had also made sure the image had the tag displaying it was not an orphan. While it is not really a problem that the image was deleted, I'd ask you to be a little bit more careful in future when deleting. Thanks. Wikiwoohoo 20:52, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, merely linking to an image is not enough. Either a fair-use image is actually displayed on an article (and has a damn good rationale for that) or it violates WP:NONFREE and is eventually deleted. The deletion was within our policy. Also, since these deletions are done in an automated fashion and actual linking to an image page is such a rare case, I didn't bother to install any extra orphaning routines on my bot - it has hands full of work anyway, without checking Whatlinkshere. Миша13 21:57, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Archival adjustment

Hi Misza - can you please change the configuration of your bot's archiving of my talkpage? I would like the bot to archive conversations older than 5 days and direct them to User talk:Rama's Arrow/Archive2007-B. Cheers, Rama's arrow (just a sexy boy) 17:14, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to say that, but that's one big mess. And it makes all the more difficult to trace the problem when I don't know what is actually broken (pus, it's been a long while since I was doing some monobook hacking). Миша13 15:19, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Archive

Hello: I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out on my own, but have decided to just ask for your help. I would like to have archiving of my talk page set up suing your bot. I'm not sure the best settings, so will trust your judgment, if you are able to help me. I suppose that sections older than a week could go to the archive page. If you could set me up, it would be awesome; otherwise I will just try to sort it out on my own. thanks. Gaff ταλκ 03:52, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Set. Threads older than 7 days will be archived to archives (starting with #3) until they fill up to 150 kilobytes, whereupon the bot will move on to the next number. Миша13 07:15, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents

Hi. Could you tell me why your bot archived these "edits as older than 24 hours" [1], at 06:35, 10 June, including my incident report which was dated 05:53, 10 June, and yet did not archive other incidents with similar timestamps? —Viriditas | Talk 10:59, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find the thread you mention in the diff page you provided. In fact, a search for "5:53" produces only one result, as part of "15:53". Are you sure it's that forum? Миша13 15:15, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your bot just did it again:[2]. This time, it deleted the entry (which had three additional editorial comments) without archiving. I apologize for not giving you the thread title for each diff. It's "Wikistalking, disruption, incivility, and personal attacks". So, your bot just archived the same thread in less than 24 hours. Can you tell me why it is doing this? —Viriditas | Talk 20:09, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, actually in the second diff you provided, the thread is still there. Why was it removed the first time, I'm not entirely sure yet... Will have to look deeper into it. Миша13 21:23, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you are right about the second time; I'm seeing things. :) —Viriditas | Talk 13:13, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Archival query

I recently found that some of the archives of Wikipedia talk:Good articles had incorrect categories on them (in this case, Category:Wikipedia proposals). This was the result of a typo by one of the people editing that talk page a while ago. I was wondering if the archival bot could fix such things (e.g. replacing "category" links by ":category") and whether this occurs frequently enough to be worth the trouble? >Radiant< 11:51, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dunno, it's an archiving bot, not fix-your-links, do-my-laundry, mow-the-lawn bot. Besides, it might be more challenge than it's worth to make it recognize whch links were used in text and which are legit categorizations. Миша13 22:00, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not archiving threads without replies

Hi there. I would like to set up Wikipedia:Drawing board for archiving. Is it possible for threads that don't have replies yet (i.e. only have a post from a single editor) to NOT be archived? I think 14 days without activity would be fine for threads that have been replied to, but I'd hate to see a legitimate query go unanswered because it got lost in the clutter. I'd also like to personally thank you for picking up the slack when Werdna left, I've been loving the automatic archiving of my user talk page. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 18:12, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, there is no algorithm yet for what you'd want, because I haven't had the time to figure out how to recognize unreplied threads. Also, I have only picked work after Essjay's bots. Werdnabot's replacement is (as far as I know) Shadowbot3 (talk · contribs) - that's what should be archiving your talk page - has it ceased to function too? Миша13 22:04, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know why I got your bots mixed up with Shadowbot3, too much editing in the heat of the day perhaps. Sorry. My compliment for picking up the work of others does still apply, though, and I'll add my thanks for your gentle correction too.
Regarding the algorithm, I think Werdna's bot counted the number of signatures (or unsigned templates) in a section. If there was only one, that constituted unreplied.
As for the drawing board, I guess we'll just give things a month for people to reply to queries- that seems to work well enough at WP:NCHP. I'll set up the archival at the end of June to give people a chance to catch up the backlog. I hope I've set up the subpages correctly for your bot to operate. Thanks again! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 18:25, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No thread title

i dont care if you deleted my images titled "new years eve" the only reason i created an account was to temporarily put pix from my work desktop onto one of the few websites that aren't blocked, so that i may add them from Wikipedia to MySpace later on another computer. i knew you would eventually delete them, but i only needed them on Wikipedia for a few hours :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cugurl02 (talkcontribs) 20:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Custom Archive Notice for Bot

Hi Misza. Is it possible to add to the bot config an option to change what archive template the bot uses on your archive pages? --(Review Me) R ParlateContribs@(Let's Go Yankees!) 21:55, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet, but it should be easy enough. I'll hopefully get around to do it soon. Миша13 21:58, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, why do you have three sister bots instead of just one? --Andersmusician $ 05:05, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Tradition. I picked up after EssjayBots I-III, which had the namespaces divided between them. With the large amount of pages to archive, this makes it easier to manage. Besides, archive bot for the Wikipedia namespaces runs at twice the frequency. Миша13 11:14, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How about some patience? Not even a full day has passed since I fixed your page. The bot doesn't pick up a page as soon a the template appears, but runs at scheduled hours. Миша13 11:11, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted images

Back in mid May, you deleted four images as unused unfree images. The article they were used in had been vandalized at the time. The images are: Image:Mythtfl98 header.gif, Image:MWC98 1st.jpg, Image:MWC98 2nd.jpg and Image:MWC98 3rd.jpg. I'm assuming the original uploader was User:The Elfoid; if so I don't see any notices of pending deletion. I would appreciate it if you could restore these images. Miszabot on Commons: talk page getting overcrowded ;)

Hey Misza. Could you have Miszabot make a daily archive run on Commons? My talk page over there is raelly busy (30 or so edits/day is not out of the ordinary) and even with a 7 day archive policy, I still get 60 topics on the page, so daily archiving isn't a luxury. Anyway, thanks for providing the service. Cheers! Siebrand 12:15, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did that, but then realized that threads are actually ===3rd-level=== headers on that page, unlike ==second== like on most forums. This would require some extra coding to faciliate. I'll add it back when it's ready. Миша13 11:47, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Archival how 2

It seems from the how to guide that archiving is only available for MiszaBot and not MiszaBot II, even though it mentios this. How do i set up MiszaBot II to archive on a page? It is currently set for MiszaBot, it seems. Simply south 13:04, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The instructions are all the same. The confusion might be because the three bots (MiszaBot I, II and III) have divided up the namespaces in which they operate (in fact, it's jsut one bot running under 3 different accounts). Just place the {{User:MiszaBot/config}} as instructed and the correct bot will pick it up eventually (MiszaBot II in the case of Wikipedia talk: namespace). Миша13 13:50, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've just noticed you've performed over 3,000 deletion today! What would Wikipedia do without you! Regards --The Sunshine Man 17:49, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I should delegate this barnstar to the bot that does all those deletions for me. ;-) But then again, I have carefully coded it. Anyway, sheesh, 3000? I've stopped counting deletions per day a month ago... :-D —Миша13 18:24, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I just noticed it's still running - that's 4 straight hours now... Миша13 18:50, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MiszaBot archive codes

Hi, I recently set-up your bot to archive my talk page and was wondering if there is any code to stop it from archiving a certain section which i want to remain on my talk page. The one i had to stop werdnabot from archiving the section was <!--werdnabot-noarchive-->, is there anything like this i can add to my page for MiszaBot?

Best regards

No explicit option, but you can hack around it: add <!-- 00:00, 1 January 3000 (UTC) --> - this should prevent the bot from archiving the section until 31st century... Миша13 17:32, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh right. Thanks, your help has been much appreciated! Ill do that now ;) Dep. Garcia ( Talk + | Help Desk | Complaints ) 17:35, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
