Thank U Kabigula & Nishkid64

to hide the page.... See, I had collected some 10 Hindi newspapers on Naresh Sonee from India , states like Rajasthan, (Udaipur, Jaipur) , Punjab state etc. Any Indian can't deny the popularity of these newspapers. All Indian working on wiki project if live in India or such states are certainly aware of these few newspapers who had covered news/reviews on Sonee in India. I will make a separate url and post on it all such news/reviews in form of scanned images – eg: photograph of Hindi news papers. Your goodself can stroll and verify them when ever time permit you. If your good self still insist I will email the url to the head administrator of wikipedia (investigation authority if such are there objection here ) also for their final verdict regarding notability or reliable sourced issue in question. But , meanwhile I only request you & Nishkid64 to help or source me out in getting translating these hindi news in English. & just allow me to recreate /post few line on Sonee with this link of url carrying newspapers in Hindi about Sonee. Any interested editors helping wiki project can translate the same in English and may help the page to grow by pace . But you see let me reintroduce my page on Sonee & Brhmaand Pujan.I beg you both to join me. No selfless goal of positive philanthropy is impossible if brilliant well wishers like you enhance wikipedia to beautify the world by also helping good words of wisdom to get spread or circulate on it. The best way out is - Prior of re creating the page I will post sample of my writings of the page in question on my talk page & invite you both for your check that would make me more appropriate when both of you will edit/ improve/beautify my small essay para on Sonee. I will not go on any details as I did in past. This essay will only show notability details of newspapers of Hindi. Only all which was published on various newspapers of India. Help me out pls. A request for your consideration regarding CAT:AOTR

...My guinea pigs and the "A"s through "H"s having felt this message was OK to go forward with (or at least not complained bitterly to me about it :) ), today it's the turn of the "I"s, "J"s, and "K"s! I'm hoping that more of you chaps/chapettes will point to their own criteria instead of mine :)... it's flattering but a bit scary! :) Also, you may want to check back to the table periodically, someone later than you in the alphabet may have come up with a nifty new idea. ++Lar: t/c 20:24, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate, that landed on WP:100! I paid close attention to everything that was said, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because of the holiday season and all the off-wiki distractions. :) I'm also working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thanks again, and have a great new year, --Elonka 07:27, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the IP user 71.99.132.37 on this page, I have warned them multiple times, sent warnings and he/she continues to vandalize the page, any suggestions?--The Dominator (talk) 00:26, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

The vandalism is continuing on Czechs, could you please semi-protect it?--The Dominator (talk) 01:12, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
This is turning into a serious problem for me, the IP starting 71.99 has started to turn on me personally and has began to randomly undo my edits on other articles, see this: Prague Spring. I think it would be best to block the IP since it has became a real nuisance to me.--The Dominator (talk) 04:01, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Headless Nun deletion

This deletion is discussed at Wikipedia:Help desk#i need help and Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion#Speed of speedies. Why did you delete it and will you undelete and possibly tag for sources/notability instead? The story appears old with many Google hits. PrimeHunter (talk) 04:31, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I have userfied the article and tried to explain the situation to the new user. I do not think that this should have been deleted as aptent nonsense as it was perfectly understandable, and patent nonsense should be limited to articles that make no sense whatsoever. 04:41, 13 January 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dsmdgold (talkcontribs)
Replied at Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion#Speed of speedies--Kubigula (talk) 04:51, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Let me say I wasn't trying to single you out here. My opinion is that this deletion was in line with common practice, and not an exceptional case in any way. I don't want to discourage admins like you who work on clearing the CSD categories, since your work there is important and valuable. I think it is possible to change the CSD system somewhat so that you can still work efficiently, while authors have more chance to bring new articles up to an acceptable standard. — Carl (CBM · talk) 14:50, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I'm sorry about that. I didn't think people would interpret my comment in the way they did. I noticed the deletion when the article creator asked about it on the help desk. — Carl (CBM · talk) 02:06, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
W.marsh says exactly what I was thinking: "Everyone's actions in the situations you describe are defensible - the new users didn't know better, the taggers and admins were just trying to patrol newpages as it is necessary for us to do." Next time I'll point that out explicitly from the beginning. — Carl (CBM · talk) 02:32, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Rudget!

Dear Kubigula, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 16:26, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:CZA8756 Alstom ?M Czamanske.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Hey Kubigula, tanks for the advise, I've e-mailed ALSTOM and unfortunately my contact is out on holidays or office, got an automatic message:

I will be out of the office from 14.01.08- 21.02.08 inclusive. I will reply to your messages once I return to the office.
I do still have the original e-mail they've sent with images and rules on agreement about copyrights and of mentioning photographer! Nevertheless, as you say, much better if i get done formally!
In the mean time i will be fixing my "image description pages", i consider myself a pretty good "wihkieditor" but my image description pages are truly horrible, never paid much attention till now! cheers, Moebiusuibeom-en (talk) 03:11, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Debt Buyers

Dear, Kubigula

You're articles have been a great help to me, I appreciate it.

I am analyzing the debt buying industry and have a question that needs solving. The debt buying industry is one of the most profitable I have ever come across. On average profit margins have been north of 30% for the past 5 years for the premier players such as Asta Funding. In the long run, competition theoretically should eliminate such large profits back to a normal level. However, this has not happened.

This is surprising considering the fact that very little cash is needed to start a new debt buying business. The existing companies point to the fact that their experience and in house software programs give them the edge in what a ‘good’ price to buy the debt for. However, there are a number of companies who have a history of dealing with consumer debt and are in a good position to enter this highly profitable business. For example, Asta funding outsources 95% of the actual debt to collection to third party companies. These third party companies are well situated to talk to the debt originators and ‘cut out the middle man’ (in this case Asta). Yet, this has not occurred to meaningful extent.

My question I hope you can help me with is why? Why have their not been a large number of new entrants? Are their large regulatory reasons? Is past direct experience really that important? I am out of ideas, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in touch,

Trevor Scott

Why did you delete my page (Longkon)?

Dear Kubigula,

I understand that wikipedia needs to delete pages that are not up to scatch, so as you deleted mine, I would like to ask you to help me create a new one, that can be an accurate summary of the website "www.longkon.com".

I am asking this as I am trying to create a decent page, and I am not very good. Thank you very much in advance,

I have decided to take it to administrator's noticeboard for more opinions:Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#IP 71.99..., your input on the matter would be appreciated, note that I was declined a block for him again which is why I took it there again. The Dominator (talk) 15:02, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Yup, a real cameo appearance, I was thinking of taking some further action, is it possible to report the abuse to their ISP?--The Dominator (talk) 19:18, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
You are right, but most administrators that I ask to handle the issue are not familiar with the incident and to them it seems good faith, therefore I have to explain the situation all over again to every new admin I ask for help, so what exactly should I do if you're not online? The Dominator (talk) 00:43, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Ranson

I think we are probably talking about two different people, but I dod not know and I am curious. Thomas "R" from Augusta County it is said was involved with the tombstone for Stonewall Jackson's mother, Julia Neale Jackson in Ansted, West Virginia. Thomas Davis Ranson was an attorney in Staunton, VA for the Tidewater Railway when it was formed in 1904. I have found some mention of Thomas Davis Ranson at the Library of Virginia online, he apparently was a judge at some point. I am also very interested in anything you might run across about William Nelson Page or Emma Gilham Page each of whom had relatives in Augusta-Staunton-Rockbridge. Emma's dad was William Gilham of Civil War and William Page was co-founder of the Virginian Railway (and its' precedecessor Tidewater and Deepwater Railways). Glad to share and hope you do same with any info on these.

BTW, we have been fighting an ill-concieved suggestion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bad Newz Kennels dog fighting investigation if you want to chime in. Thanks, let's stay in touch. Mark in Historic Triangle of Virginia (talk) 18:40, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Sillygostly

It's not vandalism? What would you consider someone who constantly deletes the articles even being told he has to post a Quick Deletion tag to even get a consensus? Check my talk and the SPore talk page - he talks a lot of shit towards me. He refuses to concede on any point, ever, and he acts like the Administrator he isn't. He doesn't like being called a kid? What do you want me to call a 16 year old who claims to be a crossdressing sunken chest Muslim Australian? JAF1970 (talk) 04:39, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

I wasn't deleting anything. The Spore DS/Mobile articles were merged with the main Spore article. Sillygostly (talk) 05:00, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Spore

JAF1970 continues to revert my edits, and refuses to reach a compromise or a consensus with me. My only argument is that the DS and Mobile versions of Spore are simply not notable enough to justify separating them into their own articles, and given that the DS/Mobile articles consist of nothing more than copy/pasted information from the Spore (video game) article, I believe a merge is in order. The norm with video game articles relating to games that are released concurrently under the same title are contained within a single article. For instance, another game released under a *slightly* different title by EA was Need For Speed: Most Wanted (the PSP verison was released as "Need For Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0"), however PSP-specific information was confined to the main NFS:MW article, and I believe Spore should follow suit. Block template

Hey. I know I have never had any interaction with you, and hate to bother you, especially with a question that makes me sound so newb and where the answer is probably simple, but I have a question for you. For two days now, I seen you handle AIV, and being a newly appointed administrator I blocked a user yesterday. However, after doing so and issuing the the uw-block1 template, I was unable to sign it within the box. By putting it within the template, it breaks it, by signing it outside the template it is no longer in the box, and by simply leaving the template it does insert my signature. Again, sorry to sound so dumb, but any assistance would be helpful. Thanks, SorryGuy  Talk  23:34, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

The article is not advertsing so I removed the header. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pipera (talkcontribs) 14:02, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BodyPump

We have been throught this since 2006 please read the history of the article before saying this or making any other comment regarding the adding of that header as they should have before adding that header. This situation was cleared up way back then and I would consider it pointless to call it spam when clearly ages ago it was declared not spam.

Bodypump Entry

We have been down this path a number of times since 2006 when the initial article was placed here at wikipedia. I am aware of the debate regarding the article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BodyPump

I don't consider the article advertising as much as I removed the tag. There is an right also to remove the tag as well. Over periods of time people have commented that this is advertising. Lets consider half of the content here is so called advertising from articles on Sony and American idol are also advertising and would consider that the placement of the tag is a mute point and should have not be considered in the first place.

I encourage debate but when rights of modifying an article and removing a tag that has no formal basis is also a mute point. As surely you can consider academically.

Comments?

to be nominated for a DYK, where it needed a major rewite which I did . --Doug talk 22:53, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Besides Moses Cone Manor these are other articles I have written in the last few days that I have self nominated for DYK:

Moses H. Cone and Moses H. Cone Memorial Park and Folk Art Center and Julian Price Memorial Park and Flat Top Manor and Julian Price.
Folk Art Center was selected as a DYK yesterday and Flat Top Manor + Moses H. Cone + Moses H. Cone Memorial Park were selected today
as a "3 in 1 hook" DYK. I self nominated Julian Price today for a DYK, so we will see what happens. If you see any improvements that can be made
on the article itself or on the DYK hook for Articles created/expanded on March 4, please let me know.--Doug talk 15:25, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Quick question regarding an AfD

You closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Norman Beaker as a keep and yet the count was 9 to Delete and only 5 to keep??? And that would be 10 to delete if you count the nominator. How does an clear 'delete' wind up as a 'keep'? Thanks 142.167.92.127 (talk) 02:33, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for the question - I'm happy to explain my reasoning. The raw "vote" count was actually 8 deletes to 6 keeps, even including the nominator (he "voted" in addition to nominating). One of the deletes, Ghmyrtle, actually switched to keep, though he didn't strike through the original delete comment so it's easy to miss.
More importantly, AfD is a discussion rather than a straightforward vote, so the quality of the arguments is key in a case where the raw count is close. In this case, three of the delete comments occured prior to the sourcing and rewrite by User:Cricket02. Two of those did not comment after the rewrite, so I discounted their initial comments somewhat, as they had commented on a different version of the article. The only one of those three who did comment after the rewrite was User:Enigmaman (the nom), who conceded that the article was "arguably up to standards" after the rewrite. Four delete comments came in after the rewrite, but, of those, two had virtually no content and one switched to keep.
So, the only substantive arguments for deletion, after the rewrite, came from Enigmaman, and he seemed on the fence, and from Richhoncho. In contrast, just about all the keep arguments were substantive and offered reasoning beyond simply linking to a policy. So, my analysis was that the keep side had the stronger arguments and carried the consensus.--Kubigula (talk) 04:21, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I wonder if you would reconsider this close please? The problem, as I stated in the AfD, is that none of the content is verifiable. Though an editor has offered to improve the page, none of the searches that he cited contains reliable sources. The answer, IMHO, is to delete the page and userfy the content. TerriersFan (talk) 20:31, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

I agree that it's a concern. I took another look at what's out there, and I think we may be albe to scrape up some acceptable sourcing. I suggest we give Noah a little time to try and source it, and I'll give it a shot too. If we've worked on it for a month or so without coming up with anything that satisfies me, I'll renom it myself. If you aren't sold, you can renom it, and I won't hassle you for being too quick to bring it up again. A no consensus close doesn't carry much precedential weight, so I don't think there would be a problem with renominating it in a month if two editors have committed to looking for reliable sourcing and haven't come up with anything. Deal?--Kubigula (talk) 21:49, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:M000067.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:M000067.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:03, 7 March 2008 (UTC). Redirect of Howard ho

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Howard ho, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Howard ho is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

Thanks - Virginia Glee Club assessment

Hi. I'm a relatively recent editor, so I really appreciated your taking the time to assess Virginia Glee Club for WikiProject Virginia, and especially appreciated your assessment of it as a B-grade article. If you have some time, I'd really welcome some specific suggestions for improvement. I have my own roadmap for the article but would appreciate your insights as well. Your Deletion of my entry - Rum Babas

You state: >Fails WP:MUSIC. Searches yield nothing notable, nor does anything confirm the so called award nomination.

The band were in fact nominated for an Aria award in Australia - Read the spiel on the singers new band and it lists that very fact: http://triplejunearthed.destramusic.com/artists/View.aspx?artistid=3330

>I don't even know the last names of all the members. Don't know why - they were all listed..Sandi Novak, Janelle Novak, Michelle Kerr, Katherine Tulich, Kathryn Cann

   * Delete, fails WP:V and possibly fails WP:MUSIC, there are some minor claims to notability like being nominated for an award and a member being in a notable band, but right now I see nothing here to verify that this is not a hoax. No All Music Guide entry, the band's name plus the city they come from returns nothing relevant on Google.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 13:37, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

You lived in Sydney Australia in the late 80's did you ? You know about every independant rock band to perform do you ? So you got minimal hits when you typed the band name into a search engine. The fact that there was minimal info was the main reason I chose to add the band's Wikipedia entry ! The drummer has a new band listed at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spurs_For_Jesus

   * Delete. Some references that are non-reliable and can not be cited exist, which leads me to believe that this is not a hoax. However, if you look at the ARIA list of award nominations ([1]), you can see that for 1990 and 1991 the list of nominees is not present, only the winners are listed. So while I think it is possible that the band meets WP:MUSIC, with no references present, it definitely does not meet WP:V, unless someone has an old newspaper or such. SorryGuy Talk 02:38, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

I will obtain evidence from the Aria people and you will then re-up my article.... (5b3TnY (talk) 09:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC))

Virginia FAC

Kubigula, I think Virginia is about ready for a Feature Article try. I am wondering if you see anything that might be problematic in the article, and if you'll be around in the next few weeks to help out, as you did for the Good Article try.--Patrick Ѻ 19:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I think those are the choices. I don't think the user is saying we shouldn't uses those, just asking why those. Anyway, I'm trying to find some replacements where I can.--Patrick Ѻ 20:26, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Yea, bummer. But it was doomed. If we don't get a support in the first three comments, then no one would be likely to support it. It's kind of a crapshoot, and there were some very picky reasons, like image sandwiching, and specifying private insurance. One thing that I blame myself for is forgetting to criticize our subject in the lead. FAC reviewers, in my experience, look for criticism. Also disappointing was the many things in Minnesota and Oklahoma that were problematic only for Virginia, like those sources, and the USA map that is used for all states. Oh well, I think I'll take a break for a while.--Patrick Ѻ 10:38, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Image for deletion

Hi, I added the speedy deletion tag to Image:Stephen Daly.jpg because it had been specifically uploaded for the now deleted article Stephen Daly. Images are an area of Wikipedia with which I am reasonably unfamiliar, so perhaps you wouldn't mind assisting me. What is an appropriate template to use for images that are used in articles which are subsequently deleted?

The image is not currently used in any article, as you will see if you check for what links to the image. Thanks in advance. LittleOldMe (talk) 12:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 02:57, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your note, Kubigula. The reason I like to keep copies of animal rights-related images is that in the past they've been deleted from the Commons, even when they're PD and once even with an OTRS ticket. It's a subject that can trigger strong feelings, which is perhaps why it happens. For that reason, from then on, I have requested that local copies be kept of images that I know are being used in articles. Best, SlimVirgin talk|edits 04:38, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Proper Interval Locality

I would like to appeal against the deletion of article named “Proper Interval locality”

on the following grounds: -

1. There is no website with the name “proper interval locality.” 2. The article was written specifically for Wikipedia and not copied from another website. 3. As for the point about notability I wrote the article in response to calls from wikipedians. This was last year but I was only recently informed about the interest in the topic.

Okie Dokie....he used to edit Michigan pages (I think he is from there) and update (for FCC listings and MOS) for everything else, so I will do my best to give him room. I used to edit things in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania (and elsewhere if I have information...callsign changes, format changes, etc.)...but I will try and steer clear of places where we may come in contact. Thanks for the input. Take Care and Have a Good Evening...NeutralHomer T:C 01:24, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
I was going to go that route (kinda steer clear of WP:WPRS pages) and stick with WP:TVS pages and some WikiVirginia Project pages (there are some pages in Frederick County, Virginia I can update). Plus I just noticed the post Acroterion‎ about the redlinks in the Virginia section of National Register of Historic Places, so that is something I can work on (I think a few are in Frederick County). Acroterion‎ put the idea in my head (and it's a fun idea too), so I am working on a page for the Newtown-Stephensburg Historic District (currently on my sandbox page)...is there anything via the Virginia WikiProject that I should add or is this something part of another project?

Recent deletion of List of Mobile Banking Vendors Article

Hi Kubigula, I just wanted to say that I don't think your recently closure of this deletion discussion was very balanced. I'm my opinion there was no consensus. Each of the users pro delete raised different concerns each of which I responded to. You conclusion that not enough of the companies had articles was only raised by one of the editors. Why not just delete the ones without links in that case, rather than the whole page? It is not the fault of this article that Wikipedia does not have entries for these companies. Just becuase they are specialist, does that make them not notable? Sosh (talk) 11:45, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

A Favor to Ask

I noticed an edit that JPG made on WTBZ's station page. I, obviously, can't message him (and wouldn't) to say his correction was wrong. WTBZ is now WVUS (an AM station) and does carry a "Timeless Favorites" (or Big Band) format. So, the changes the anon user made, were correct. I don't want to edit that page immediately after him, so would you mind putting the information in for me? Also, it would require a page move from WTBZ to WVUS.

In case you are wondering, I had WTBZ on my watchlist from before I was blocked. Thank you....NeutralHomer T:C 23:03, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello....Dingbat2007 has another one of his Rebafan sockpuppets. I made several attempts to report it to AIV, but kept getting the "whys" and "How do these edits qualify as vandalism?". Request for Review

I noticed that you recently added a tag to the talk page of Virginia Tech Hokies football seasons, and was wondering if you'd be willing to check my math on that page. I've added everything up a few times, but my totals don't match those of the 2008 media guide, which says that Tech has 648 total wins. I'd appreciate the help. Thanks. JKBrooks85 (talk) 07:07, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you ever so much. No wonder my math wasn't adding up! I appreciate the time it must've taken you to track that down. It is mind-numbing work, but if I can get the information out there, it makes it easier for the next person to track down what they need. Let Me Pass An Idea By You

I was helping revert some vandalism edits on the TV Station pages (via WP:TVS and found it was really hard to do manually and keep up. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to readd PopUps and TWINKLE? I know my monobook page was erased/blocked for awhile because I was edit-warring with TWINKLE. I don't, of course, intend to do that again. Which why I thought I would ask you your opinion. I think being able to revert quickly is good (and I don't mind helping out), but I don't want to add something like that and upset anyone, which is why I haven't. What do you think? Thanks...NeutralHomer T:C 04:41, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I will add PopUps in a couple (dinner time in a minute) and whenever you think it is cool, let me know and I will TWINKLE. Take Care and Have a Great Weekend....NeutralHomer T:C 22:26, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Adam Beason

A tag has been placed on Adam Beason requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. — dαlus Contribs /Improve 09:05, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Restoration request

Please restore Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka to User:Hpt lucky/Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (Hpt lucky being the principal author of most of the carrom articles). As you can probably tell from what's going on on his user page, a bunch of articles on verifiable information about national International Carrom Federation affiliates are subject to merge discussion (and one AFD, which should conclude with a "merge" result, and some prods which I've replaced with merge tags). The CFSL article probably does not need to be an article by itself, but the information in it is easily verifiable, and the article should not (arguably; I have not taken the matter up at WP:DRV) have been deleted on notability grounds, despite the AfD results on this article, since a national-level sports governing body is notable by definition. I strongly suspect that the eventual consensus will be to merge all of this stuff in to the ICF article, and that's what I'm pushing for myself. The merge will go faster and smoother if this user (almost certainly the one who will produce the merged article) is provided a copy back of the CFSL article (with the proviso that the point is to merge the content, not to re-create the CFSL article separately). — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 01:02, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Sounds like a decent plan and a reasonable request. So, I've restored the article to the user subpage. Let me know if you need any further assistance.--Kubigula (talk) 03:37, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Virginia Head's Up

Hello, just wanted to let you know, you may see all the TV Stations in Virginia pop up on the assessment page of the project. Earlier this evening, I put the WP:VA template and the WP:TVS templates in a dropdown menu (like this one here). I didn't make any changes to how the pages were assessed though.

Map images, new user for Petersburg history

You may have noticed the very good map image in the new Virginia Capital Trail article. This was done at my request for WP by User:Hlj, who has a talent in this area and works on many articles related to the American Civil War, of which, Virginia was the major battlefield. I am sure he would occasionally help with similar needs for other WP:VA articles if we asked. I have extended a nice thank already, and any other acknowledgment of his work might also be in good taste. We also have a new contributor for Petersburg, Virginia, User:Dulaney Ward. Early indications are that he also has a lot to add to our efforts and should be encouraged. Just my thoughts, hope all is well with you. Vaoverland

I had sorta backed off on the Jamestown article, and will need to revisit that issue about splitting it. I am working nights now in Williamsburg and many times have an hour or two to look in on WP stuff. I have a Q. Is there a bot or such that we could use to get articles started and up to stub level for the many Virginia school divisions which do not have articles yet? I think other users would embrace adding if we had a very basic framework in place. As it is, in some cases, there are individual articles about a particular public school, but not the school division (aka district). Thoughts? It's OK to copy this over to the Wikiproject Virginia page if you think appropriate. All the best, Vaoverland (talk) 06:05, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Oh yeah, there will be more of those pop up on the WPVA lists. There is a user who is making state-by-state format templates (like one template for all the country stations in one station or all classic rock stations). So, I have been updating those and tagging them with the WPVA templates.
Plus, I am going through all the Virginia radio stations and updating them with infoboxes (some don't have them), correct linkage, even market templates (stations in Martinsville and Danville were left out for some reason). That is my big thing at the moment.
I will think about adding TWINKLE, right now I am doing it manually and it seems to be working fine. I will let you know when I do.

When I first made my wiki account many months ago, you helped me with getting a video link added to Clint Catalyst's page, so I thought that maybe you could offer your help again for my most recent inquiry. :) I still don't know a lot about wikipedia & Clint's page is pretty much the only listing that I ever edit, so I hope you do not mind my asking for your help from time to time. Anyway - on to my question... I added a new image to Clint's listing & I plan to add more. Hello

Hey Kubigula, got a bit of a concern. IP user 75.108.73.219 has been making edits to TV station pages adding DTV information. This, in and of itself, is just fine (no problems from me here). What I do have a problem with is how the user is going about making the edits.

For example, with WATM-TV, the user wiped out an entire section ("ABC 23 News Anchors As Of Final Broadcast") and used the == == brackets from that section to create the "Digital Television" section. In some cases, the user has even combined the "Digital Television" section they are adding with another unrelated section. The user has done this before and I showed the user about a week ago how to create headers using the == == brackets, obviously to no avail.

To me, I think it is someone who is unexperienced at editing Wikipedia and I don't think they mean any harm to the project (they are doing some good work adding information that needs to be added), but I worry about some of the information being "swapped out" to add the "Digital Television" information may be lost. Would you mind having a word with them? Thanks and Take Care...NeutralHomerTalk 15:28, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I appericate it :) I had to throw a couple vandalism warnings their way, unfortunately, because they keep taking away the references section to the WTLV page. I really wish I didn't have to do that :( - NeutralHomerTalk 06:10, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

The "Cant Happen Here" talk page had no content other than being a useless leftover talk page redirect. I regard that deletion as uncontroversial cleanup. The Dragon Ball Characters template talk does have some actual discussion content in the history. Ted Stahl page

Thank you for your help. I am trying to figure this out and it is good that Wikipedia has such vigiliant editors watching out to keep the site neutral. I understand. I will rewrite to be compliant. It is a good exercise. There is another great article that was published about Ted in Dec 2007 by DBusiness, a Crain publication, but I can't find it online, I only have a pdf of the article. Is that something that can be included as a reference? --Karinbellinghausen (talk) 22:27, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I can't even figure out how to put the hangon thing on there and they delete it...there was also a suggestion about a template but I can't find it at all anymore so I guess I will just start from scratch again. This time they didn't say blatant advertisting, but something about it not being relevant. How does one judge relevance? Why is a heat press relevant but not the man who invented one? --Karinbellinghausen (talk) 02:28, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey Dude

Hope your week is going well :) Could you do me a favor? Could you take a look at the WTOP-FM page? I moved some things around, updated the infobox, moved a couple paragraphs to their own section, but the whole thing is still bugging me. It looks cluttered (especially with the history section) and it seems disconnected from it's frequency's former self WGMS. There is, of course, information about WTOP on other pages (like WWWT, WFED, among others), so the page is super disconnected. Any help you can give (or ideas), would be appericated. Take Care and Have a Great Friday...NeutralHomerTalk 05:26, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

I do greatly appericate your help on that one. I will keep an eye on the page so it doesn't get disconnected again.
You would be proud of me right now. Mass purge of all television market templates from Wikipedia and even though I am massively pissed, I haven't lost my temper (came close though, but walked away for a couple). - NeutralHomerTalk 05:09, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
As did I and I didn't have that much to begin with. I am worried if Wikipedia allowed this from Nielsen, if Arbitron could do the same on the radio end. Which would just wipe out WP:WPRS. Personally, I think it is time to create a "Media Pedia" for radio and television stations, cable and satellite networks, newspapers and the like. It would make things sooooooo much easier. - NeutralHomerTalk 05:23, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Ref: 04:44, 14 August 2008 Kubigula (Talk | contribs) deleted "Novel writing" ‎ (CSD G11: Blatant Advertising)

Hi - just wanted to clarify - this IS NOT a blatant advertisement - this is actually a site introducing the 21st century technology of writing books - either independently or as a collaboration with friends/family. The concept is to encourage the use of technology (and in itself saves the environment 'GREEN') and also encourages social networking with the ability to collaborate on a novel.

Could you please review the submission and advise or provide some direction as to how best to word this article so it is read as an article and not advertisement. This site sells nothing - in fact the membership is free - there are no fees.

I appreceiate your time and consideration, Best regards, Yvonne Davies yvonnedavies@rogers.com --Ydavies (talk) 03:35, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Kubigula - wasn't sure if you received my previous email - I am working on the re-write for myNOVELspace.com

It definately is not an advertisement - as the site sells nothing - it is more to do with social networking - and more to the point - the 21st way of writing a novel - either on your own with a group that you choose to collaborate with.

Should I forward you the re-write Kubigula?

Also, thanks again for getting back to me so promptly - I really appreciate your assistance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ydavies (talkcontribs) 17:08, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi Kubigula - me again not sure if I sent the reply to your response correctly...

Just wanted to say thank-you for your help - it's greatly appreciated. I am working on re-writing the article in order that it does not read as promotional. I am hoping to cause the same affect as a Facebook or MySpace - however, this has a take away - especially for children and youths - to be able to write a book either on their own or with a group - that they will be able to share with friends and family - how cool is that....it's not just the highest score from a game of i.e. 'Halo' etc. but it's a new way of playing on the internet - educational, yet social networking too.

When I complete the revision Kubigula - should I send to you directly for review?

Thanks again for your help and support - it's much appreciated Ydavies (talk) 13:57, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

This happened because i created TronixCountry, which got censored repeatedly; finally I got screwed over this (archive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:IReceivedDeathThreats/ANI-being-fucked-with) - a claim that my username was disruptive. Not a problem. I was normally doing something your page got hit, but I was around to update the counter :) Please let me know if you need help on the Stephens City page this weekend. Take Care....NeutralHomerTalk • October 24, 2008 @ 15:56

Image Copyright

Hey, I haven't check up on my contribution to the Kimmel Center page in a while and I was a little surprised to see that my images were taken down. I am the photographer behind those pictures. I just changed the flickr copyright status to Attributed Creative Commons. - User:Jon91870

Personality rights and speedy delete image crtieria

G'day Kubigula - I wondered if you might be kinda active in the image area, and might be prepared to help me get to know our current guidelines a bit.. I'm interested in how folk's 'Personality Rights' might work with the policies really, and whether or not we might need to add a bit to the current speedy deletion image criteria? I'm concerned that that 'bride' pic might have potential for harm greater than it's benefit to the project, even to the point on wondering whether it might be best to delete it straight away? Whaddya reckon? cheers, Privatemusings (talk) 04:38, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Got a little problem with User:Jesse49, massive vandalism and is a sockpuppet of User:Dingbat2007. COuld you please help? - NeutralHomerTalk • October 30, 2008 @ 02:21

User:Daniel Case took care of it. Was getting a little hairy there for a second. - NeutralHomerTalk • October 30, 2008 @ 02:29
User:Dingbat2007 uses socks with the same names like Rebafan, Fran, Jesse, or Word and a number (ie: Jesse##). See Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Dingbat2007. What User:Dhett or Blueboy96 do is give a Warn4im warning and revert all edits regardless if they are correct or not on sight. I personally don't agree with the last part because some good edits do get lost in the mix, but I respect their decision on that one. Most of Dingbat2007's edits are television station related, mostly changing ownership or creating stations that don't exsist or affiliations that don't exsist. If I can provide more information for ya, let me know :) Take Care and Have a Great Thursday...NeutralHomerTalk • October 30, 2008 @ 03:50

Re-edited your deletion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_State_Bar) . Effectiveness of an institution is relevant to describing its function - pro or con. This is not a diatribe as I had others review my post to avoid such a claim, it is relevant to the "effectiveness" of the institution. I see you removed it again, active censorship I request arbitration from an impartial editor, not a censor that does not like facts that are posted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jowey59 (talkcontribs) 23:31, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Fact the Virginia State Bar changed its policy in 2000, fact the Virginia State Bar does not address strategy complaints after 2000. The effectiveness of the institution to provide competent legal counsel was represented pre-2000 in the Canon's that were removed. Facts belong in an encyclopedia - you are a censor not an editor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jowey59 (talkcontribs) 23:37, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

You are avoiding the facts, identified by referenced links to the Bar and the consequences of the change. As for research, an independent metric is not collected to either support or refute the claims, victims of this process "fall through the cracks" undocumented. I did cite some examples where the policy failed certain individuals and the avoidance by the institution failed their regulatory claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jowey59 (talkcontribs) 23:51, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Got your point, sorry about being terse, the Virginia attorney population brings out the worst. Give them an outline of items, then they dont use it and it is "strategy" - to address their failure to engage/present one gets denial and avoidance. Our attorney deserted in 2000 after five years - why we noticed this "Policy change". Apparently another attorney deserted - http://hamptonroads.com/node/457817 and the Bar has a "task force" I suspect that it is a placebo. This is not your issue, I made one more change - adding titles to the references if that is okay. Thanks again --Jowey59 (talk) 00:51, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

RE: Thanks

Glad I could be of service! According to Interiot's counter, I have now performed 1539 blocks. And I do use archives ... once a year, whether my talk page needs it or not! Thanks again, both for the vote of confidence, and your original RfA co-nomination. --Kralizec! (talk) 13:43, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Regarding this, you may happily note that the once-a-year festivities have taken place, and this has undergone a 278k crash-diet to become this. --Kralizec! (talk) 16:17, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

The practice ended in the Middle Ages ... ? Perhaps that is what this pervasive smell is ... --Kralizec! (talk) 20:38, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Karis Jagger

A long time ago you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Karis Jagger. Karis Jagger has now been recreated - is it sufficiently different? CorenSearchBot tagged it as copyvio (the site has some revision of the pre-deletion content from Wikipedia), so I think the history should be restored if the current version is ok. – Sadalmelik 16:56, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Heads Up

Just wanted to give you a heads up that I am off my Wikibreak and when this "donate now" template above works it's way through the system (and it stops slowing things down) I will be back to editing. - NeutralHomerTalk • November 5, 2008 @ 05:32

I knocked that little bugger out a couple ago, but it is still goofing some things up. The "menu" on my talk/user pages had to go because it was goofing it up. Oh well. - NeutralHomerTalk • November 13, 2008 @ 05:58

Thanks! It was up for AFD not too long ago, so I thought I'd shower some wikilove on it. Cheers, Nudve (talk) 07:44, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Sorry I missed that

Hello, sorry I missed that line in Ho Chi Minh, while I try to check if I am reverting to a good version, I obviously missed that. LovesMacs (talk) 03:16, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, you too. LovesMacs (talk) 03:26, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

D&D articles

Hi!

I noticed that you recently deleted a number of talk pages of redirects relating to Dungeons & Dragons using CSD G6 as a reason. Having those pages tagged as part of the D&D project is important to the project, even if the article they are related to never was anything other than a redirect. If you could restore the pages it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

The articles include, but are not limited to, Talk:Horror on the Hill (module), Talk:Patriots of Ulek (module), Talk:Five Shall Be One (module). I can go back and recreate the pages with the tags, but I don't know whether it would be easier for you or me to do it. -Drilnoth (talk) 15:12, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Sorry; some of those were deleted by User:Fuhghettaboutit. However, my request still stands. -Drilnoth (talk) 15:16, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
I was the one who requested the deletion of those pages, so if there's any restoration to be done I suppose I could do it. However, I thought those pages were less-than-useful for reasons I have explained here. I think having these talk pages with project templates on them is not a useful thing to have. --Craw-daddy | T | 15:58, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Kubigula, I see that you reverted vandalism on this article, which is one of my pet articles (i.e., I've contributed heavily to it and have it on my watchlist). I also see that you are an administrator. Therefore, I am coming to you to request that this article have protection placed on it. As you can see from here, it is heavily vandalized. As a rule, it gets a steady flow of vandalism, but for some reason (perhaps it was the American Thanksgiving holiday that provided too many teenage boys who grew up watching the show too much time on their hands), it's been on the increase for the last week or so. I think that if it had even a temporary protect, it would help the situation. Thanks for your consideration in this manner. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 05:06, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Got your note. Appreciate that you've added BC to your watchlist and will keep an eye out. Just this morning, though, I reverted vandalism on it--again. A question, though: just how much vandalism is considered "not quite yet to the level where we normally protect". I'm curious about that, really. Thanks. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 18:45, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

McMaster University

Hello, I did not vandalize the McMaster page. It's blatantly obvious that the rankings are not accurate for 2008 and I have made the changes and cited the document. Why was this reverted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.189.190.101 (talk) 08:43, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
