Speedy Deletion Tag

Hi Chrissymad, I created an article for Turicum Private Bank, which was nominated for deletion and then deleted, with the following reason..."because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia." I'm surprised I can't create a simple article about a company when there are hundreds of articles about companies, organisations etc The article will hold basic information about the company, when people search Turicum in a web browser. Here are few additional points to adequately show the subject's notability.

One of the important contribution by Pankaj Patel is 130/30 index. He was the one who build the portfolio from the idea of 130/30 type needs the index. Prof Andrew Lo provided theoretical reasoning, Pankaj Patel created portfolio of equities to build the index. Philip Vasan brought Pankaj and Andrew in one room to come up with index.

In partnership with Professor Andrew Lo of MIT, and Philip Vasan of Blackrock, Pankaj launched the first passive and investible 130/30 Equity index.[1] [2] [3] [4]

Constant shallowness, while Louder Than War does appear to be a reliable source, the issue is that the three references given are by the same author (to quote from WP:GNG, "Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability). Thus, you essentially have "one" good source that discusses the band. You will need to add more in order to demonstrate notability. It will also be helpful to turn your end-of-page references into inline citations; see WP:REFB Section 3.1 for information about how to quickly and easily add references to a page. Advice on editor's illogical actions

Hi. May I ask your advice on something? I added an edit to a page that was unbalanced with proper citation. But an editor just removed it, citing I'm 'socking'. I read up on that, but I am not doing that. The only way to prove i'm not a 'sock' is by meeting people on Wiki, but there's been no recent or upcoming meetings in my city to prove I'm a real person. I reverted the edits I made on the page since the editor didn't state good reasons. I stated my reason for reverting it, and asked how he could remove cited information that is relevant to a page. He just reverted it again and sent me a warning for editing war.... Surely someone can't just remove an edit and make a false accusation, and then I get the warning? AspiringCheetah, I've only briefly looked at the situation, but my advice would be to discuss the matter on the article's talk page. You might have valid concerns and useful contributions to make, but clearly there is an editor who feels they are neither. So discuss the matter on the talk page, remember to keep calm and civil with the other editors, and if it's clear the discussion is going nowhere you're welcome to request a Third opinion or dispute resolution. Long story short, cult who's leader was convicted of rape (to be released early 2018) has aggressively tried to push a pro POV view into Wikipedia articles. Some years ago, the article was ugly, using several unreliable anti-cult websites in areas, and cult published websites in others. Multiple sock puppets, meat puppets and lots of civil POV pushing from cult followers. It's so much fun. Providence (religious movement) is the article in question. Hi. Thank you for ruining several days work, updating and refreshing, Allan Peiper's wikipedia page. I note you've rana rchive of material, I actually wrote, several years ago, and was of poor quality. So, I began updating the page, correctly, on January 1st 2018 - and I was working slowly, and accurately. Now, it's completely gone, and you've replaced it with material that's the sole reason, I was replacing it.

I spent a long period of time, compiling accurate race details and updates, and in one swift second, you've deleted my work, and on your talk page, you absolve all responsibility for your conduct. I assumed, Wikipedia was about working together, to create a worthwhile input of material.

I notice that you tagged the page ShowBiz Cinemas for speedy deletion with the reason "non-notable business". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because the article states that the chain owns 7 locations with 117 screens, which is a plausible indication of notability. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, proposing the page for deletion if it appears to be an uncontroversial matter, or taking the page to WP:AFD for discussion on the merits. I'm trying to get this going here and I'm having troubles. Obviously. Haha. I have a few questions and need some help clarifying things/get a better understanding.

So, author interviews are primary sources, and I have more than enough of those. The newly added stuff from Columbia College's archives, that's all primary, except the DEMO 10 Magazine (Ref 34), as well. Mainly because they're from the time he graduated as opposed to being after he graduated, which the DEMO 10 Magazine says. Is that correct?

Book pages on the publishers own sites, are those primary as well?

Book reviews are secondary sources, right? I have a bunch of them, but I don't know if there's an acceptable amount per book/story. I mean, I don't want to put up six or seven for one book.

Lastly, what's an acceptable amount of references overall? I see pages being accepted with four or seven, you know? I've had to have more seconadry than that already, right? That's another thing that's making me ask what am I doing wrong overall (other than a lot of author interviews).

Staszek Lem I actually can see both deleted versions due to edit filters and it seemed nearly identical to me minus one new addition. Also, it's been AFD'd twice, see also Pavlo Hrytsak and deleted as a consequence of both. To say that a non-admin shouldn't tag G4 is a bit silly otherwise it needs to be admin use only and it doesn't warrant a warning, even if it's declined. Curious how you've viewed it while chiding me for the same when you're not an administrator either. And as far as "if you are an admin, you should know better." WP:AGF. Thanks! If there is sourcing after the AfD took place, most admins won't delete the article, but it is very much the norm for non-admins to apply this tag for admin attention. Staszek Lem It's not substantially different and after doing WP:BEFORE it's evident that there is no significant coverage or change from the last two AFDs. One of which was closed in October 2017. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pavlo Hrytsak. I'm a bit confused as you've commented there as well and knew that the Eurovision stuff was specifically mentioned in that AfD too, meaning it was still deleted on that rationale that affiliation doesn't = notability. User Chetsford has been removing references added by three different editors over and over and over again and replacing them with multiple cn tags to the point where it has become disruptive. In other words, his films represent the Mongolian cinema of the Soviet era. Please verify from the references below.
  3. For his work in cinema, literature, and teaching, he was awarded the highest honors from the Mongolian government. Please verify the information from the references I included in the draft.
  4. To quote from the wikipedia's own suggestions on creating a biography page:
  • The person has received a well-known and significant award or honor, or has been nominated for such an award several times.
  • The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field.
  • The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors.

I think the collective works (~20 feature films, 2 encyclopedia, 1 historical book) of Jigjidsuren Gombojav and his accolades satisfy the above mentioned criteria. As I said above, the topic could be unfamiliar to western audience and the sources are scarce but that does not render the topic or subject unworthy of discussion.

Please consider your decision one more time, and re-review my draft. Hope you will approve the article this time.

List of programs for point cloud processing - edits

Chrissymad -- I'm not clear why you would go into a compiled list and decide to remove certain items. The page is merely a list of programs that provide information for users. I didn't create the page, nor do I maintain the list. A while back I added an entry to the list. Yes, my company provides that software but it is not promoted nor advertised in any way on the page. Or more to the point -- it's one entry on a list that contains many other programs that do something similar.

As I explained several times - Wikipedia isn't a directory and we don't blindly list non-notable items. If it's inclusion is warranted it should at least be mentioned in an associated article (and sourced to reliable sources, not primary, as many of those were) or have an article itself. Leopheard, first off, leaving three warning messages for what is essentially the same issue (just on three pages) is a bit excessive. Second, I have looked at the three articles you mention and I see nothing "arbitrary" about Chrissymad's edits - they are removing non-notable (i.e. "redlinked") names from lists. This is perfectly acceptable, though I suppose I can see how "rm nn" to someone not familiar with their style wouldn't realize that was "remove non-notable". Third, there is nothing wrong with being bold and making an action that one thinks will improve Wikipedia. If people disagree, there is discussion and a consensus is reached. That's the way it should be. I do encourage you to read through WP:LISTCRITERIA for the main reasons why Chrissymad trimmed down all those redlinked lists. What is excessive is making dramatic changes to a page without any form of discussion, as you yourself say should be done. For one person to simply decide what is and isn't notable is obviously going to run into problems. So, just because a user hasn't heard of a particular thing, it shouldn't be on Wikipedia? This isn't a site for the most popular things, but surely a lot more than the status quo? Should all references to car manufacturers be removed that aren't Ford, GMC and Chevy? Many Wikipedia articles link to this page. Before, someone had written that article to look like a personal page. I suppose that's the paragraph "Since 1969…" on the ARITH-21 page, which can also be found (with minor changes) already on the ARITH-18 page. But I don't know whether it was used earlier. The original author probably didn't care about copyright issues. I wonder whether the use of this paragraph can fall under fair use; in particular, it has been copied year after year for the subsequent ARITH conferences. first off, thanks for your great work and immediate response!

"David Holy" is my first contribution to Wikipedia and I totally get why my first draft was declined. However, I'm not sure how to resolve the issue (-> This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability.). The article is supposed to be the English version of an article that already exists (German Wiki). I tried to use the new translation tool but I can't publish the translated article (because I'm a noob and therefore not permitted to publish ;-)). The German version seems just fine and the English version is basically the same, including the sources.

I do not understand what is wikipedia's definition of 'notability'. The company has multiple independent articles done by The Vindicator and sells nationally. It has appeared in a national magazine for the most popular home & garden show twice and even appeared on the inside cover of the one issue. Just because you may not be aware of the company does not discredit its existence. It has plenty of reviews on multiple websites to prove that it, in fact, exists. The company is in an industry that has magazines that are not as popular as the high tech or banking industry. Plus after all this is an online encyclopedia, so, if the company has proof of existence (58 years), as this one does, and the article does not appear to be biased, then the page should be published in order for wikipedia to meet the definition of itself. Unless of course, there is actually a market cap requirement for companies to be listed on wikipedia. In that case, I was not aware of the large barriers to entry on an open source encyclopedia...

Additionally, the main source that I used for this article is on Wikipedia. So I think I would be safe to assume that it is considered to be notable and reliable by Wikipedia, unless now we list newspapers that are neither reliable nor notable, which would be in contradiction for your requirements for businesses. So my question is this: How is a company that has multiple articles on it published by The Vindicator (Which is considered notable and reliable by Wikipedia, and actually centered politically), not notable itself? If you say that it is not then your whole argument is a blatant contradiction. Think logically please.

JJNelson It's not about it's existence, it's about notability and none of these sources establish it. They're largely PR, run of the mill, primary or fluff pieces. Wikipedia is not itself a source, whether it links to an existing article is irrelevant in determining notability. As far as the Vindicator source, it's an interview and not independent coverage. What do you mean that they are largely PR? The Vindicator discloses if the article is a paid interview (As you can see if you click the link, neither of these articles are). Also, if you even took the time to check the one article used titled, "Baird Bros. event offers carpentry projects, demos, tours," you would realize that not a single employee or owner of the company was interviewed in that article. It was a report on the event going on there and interviews of people attending the event. It is possible for an interview to be independent coverage. You just keep making up rules as you go when you come to the realization that your initial premise was utter garbage. Is there any hierarchy at Wikipedia so I can bypass your changing narrative? Specifically, the one about the crash is NOT about the company whatsoever and in no way would make anyone notable. They are not independent coverage and even if they were, they're all local. Saying I am biased yet I was asking if a negative article, or at the very least a neutral article, about a truck accident involving one of the companies drivers could be included. Your premise is proven invalid right there. Plus they are independent, you just don't like them because in your opinion you think the company paid for them. And since you cannot prove that they did, you say that they are local, which should not matter. If a newspaper is notable enough to be listed on wikipedia, that should make their stories notable enough to be accepted by wikipedia. JJNelson (talk) 16:15, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

I also highly doubt that every company listed on this website is covered by a national media outlet. Making your premise once again invalid by contradiction. The problem with Wikipedia editors is that they are not objective and edit things subjectively for an encyclopedia. Which is why ultimately this website will fail, blockchain will crush it. As a moderator, along with other moderators, shouldn't you follow the rules?

I posted 3 direct citations to uses of the design. I initially avoided citing Weiss as they are a for profit company owned or affiliated with, I believe, CNBC. If you have a problem with that, please explain what it is more directly rather than unhelpfully impeding the information. Be specific about YOUR problem with the sources. Here is how the cycle works: You make a bold edit → Someone reverts → you go to the talk page and discuss the edit. As for sourcing, Wikipedia places an emphasis on verifiability if you don't include a reliable source your edits are likely to be reverted. All information on wikipedia needs to provide a reliable citation. Generally on Wikipedia we prefer not to use primary sources, secondary sources could be used whenever possible. Hello - thank you for your help with this article! Endorfin is a young company and has only received media coverage from small, local news sites.

I have noticed multiple articles about chocolatiers on Wikipedia that cite very few sources other than their own websites (e.g.: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolaterie_Robert, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fazer). Is there something about these articles that makes them acceptable for Wikipedia with so few references?

Would the Endorfin article be acceptable if I edit it to only include very basic information about the company (i.e., name, location, awards received)?

Don't contradict yourself

You talk about "Unsourced npov crap" on iCELL Network. (1)What proves do you have saying that the coe's name isn't Chua Thiong Kien? (2)That the company isn't dead? (3)That it is located at 19 Kallang Ave, Singapore 339410? (4)That the company isn't bankrupted/indebt? You don't have any evidence*/source* that you mention earlier. Since you said "Inspired npov crap" and undid the truth, you're implying to me that the old information is* up to date.

Here's my prove. (1)His name is* Chua Thiong Kien (surname first) because I've worked with him and seen* his ic before. (2)The company is dead. If you can try to call their phone no. Which is +65 63094520 which it won't even connect. If the company is very successful as it claimed to be then why is their website down? (Source*: [1][2]) (3) If their company is still located at 19 Kallang Ave, Singapore 339410 till today then why is there no unit number? Because the company isn't even there anymore.(source*:[3] (4) Since it is so successful as it claimed to be then why did it not have a webpage or updated webpage? Or a proper address? Or why did it dropped from the Wireless@sg programme? Because Mr Chua did things unregistered and that ended up in a law case. Want a prove? It's very possible, and you may be right, but we don't accept unsourced changes to a page, even if this means restoring the "wrong version." If something has changed, and there are reliable sources that demonstrate that change, then obviously the page should be updated. If something is currently unsourced, then it should be removed (not replaced with more unsourced information). It's not a "contradiction", it's just the way we work.
