Please take another look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/As seen on TV (marketing). I believe there is consensus to merge this article. Perhaps you could simply undo your closure and let an admin decide. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 21:48, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for pointing this out, but I was guided by another administrator, User:Useight, to close this AfD as "keep". Please see here. If you still have concerns, please notify me about it. Thanks, RyRy (talk) 04:01, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Here is what I said on the matter: "That article needs to be either kept or merged. There are eight "Keep" votes and four "Merge", so a case could be made for either." and upon further pressing I said, "Closing it as keep would be fine in my book." I was fine with either way, but let RyRy give the final call, as indicated by him closing the AFD and not me. However, if you feel a sufficient consensus was not reached, how about re-opening the AFD? Useight (talk) 05:37, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Per comment on article's talk page, I will propose merge rather than re-open the AfD. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 13:50, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Moved

Hey RyRy, I just wanted to let you know I moved your review page to your user space at User:RyRy/Review. I am cleaning out my namespace and wanted to make sure that you could keep it if you want. I also just wanted to let you know you are doing a really good job, keep up the great work! Oh and I like the name change :) « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 04:24, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Wow what are the odds I message you right when you message me?!?! Haha, and I think closing that as speedy keep would be a really good idea. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 04:26, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
This was definitely a good speedy close. I would say as long as the nom is all keeps, had more than 4 comments, and been open for a while, you should be good with speedy closing a nom. And AFD isnt my main area of admin work, but I did go through a spurt of XFD commenting a long time back and I have closed a few AFD's so I at least know the basics :P « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 04:38, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
A quick look: working at DYK. welcoming users, redesigning user pages, undoing and correctly marking good faith edits, among many others. Like I think Useight said, I would be willing to grant you rollback rights, as you definitely understand when to rollback and when not too. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 04:55, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
I saw the post to Peter, and I understand. You are the best judge of when you are ready for something. Well have a good night and keep up the good work. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 05:21, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, let us know when you believe you are ready. Useight (talk) 05:31, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
(ec)Yeah I like simplicity. And I probably would close that as "Keep" with no prejudice to merge. I really don't see an overwhelming consensus to merge the article, but there is definitely consensus to keep the article. I would suggest writing a note on the article's talk page just stating you closed the discussion as keep but that does not mean the article couldnt or shouldnt be merged and that if a user feels that the page should be merged that they should go ahead with it in the regular way. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 05:33, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Will do, about when I think I am ready for rollback and the the note on the article's talk page. -- RyRy (talk) 05:37, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Was the above comment by Gonzofan supposed to be in the section above this one? Useight (talk) 05:41, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Nope, if you look at the other end of the convo on my talk page, we were discussing through this thread when RyRy asked me my opinion about the close. It is about the above section though. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 07:39, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Yer. And I still haven't left a not on it's talk page. I'll do that now though. -- RyRy (talk) 07:55, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

<-- I've left a note here. Was that correctly worded out? -- RyRy (talk) 08:07, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Looks fine to me! « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 08:09, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

My Userpage and ....

Hello R5(deal with it, there'd be confusion if took off the "5",;). I'd like a renovation of my userpage so it's has that top bar some what like yours(as in links to subpages, etc.) but it doesn't have to be exactly like that(be creative, you could completely mess up my userpage for all I care,as long you undid it all at the end..;)) You have all the time in the world. Also: your girlfriend NICE!!! SO what I'm saying is...take a wiki-break and spend some time with her!!!:D. Thought you could hide it eh? No siree!! Not when I'm around!!!;)Mind telling me how you got her over email?:D--Xp54321 (Hello!Contribs) 04:25, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Some and others

Changed the name? Good that way too. How about an RfA? I'm not sure if a nom from me means anything, but I'm willing to give it try... how 'bout you? Basketball110 My story/Tell me yours 07:35, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

An RfA? This early? Well, sorry, but no. I don't think I'm even close to ready yet. Maybe not even ready until next year, or even longer than that. But yes, I know I have improved greatly since we last met. There's basically no criticism against me and my editing, which is very good for me. But I haven't even finished my adoption with User:Steve Crossin. I'm still waiting for him to write out my assignment, which he says he won't do until "he becomes an admin", which he thinks his RfA will pass, and I believe that too. I even wanted to be admin coached so I can learn more about what administrators do. I'm just not ready yet. Maybe when some more admins think I'm an "experienced editor" and that when I have more trust, I would run. I don't even have rollback yet (which I have been offered 3 times but declined all of them :P, just look across this talk page and you'll notice). Well, I was actually admin coached before, a few months ago, but it was too early. Look here. So, I'll have to decline. Thanks though. Any comments? Anyone? I'll be happy to take any. :) -- RyRy (talk) 08:19, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I don't think he is putting off writing the assignment cos of the RFA, he has a lot going on in real life, so he hasn't been editing much on wiki recently. More time with me :). Anyways, I imagine he will get around to it soon, but writing out an assignment as large as that isn't an easy task, I imagine. Mellie 09:46, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Reassessed

I can't believe I have to have it reassessed again, but can Tom Baker (Chicago Cubs) be reassessed for a DYK? I couldn't find a reference to support my original hook, so I had to drop it. I changed it, but it's not exactly what I call "eye catching". If the hook isn't good enough, I'm just going to retract my nomination. --LAAFan 16:34, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

My review here. It's just too vague and not interesting hook now. is there a hook you could use that is more interesting? (looking through the article, I didn't see anything interesting...) -- RyRy (talk) 21:03, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
No, I tried to find something to support the first hook, but that didn't work. Because he's done nothing realy baseball notable otherwise, I took a shot at it as a last resort. If I do happen to find something (I doubt I will), i'll contact you. Otherwise, I'm just going to let it stay as maybe. --LAAFan 23:13, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm glad your trying LAA. That shows a willingness that you want to help Wikipedia. Good work, and good luck! ;) -- RyRy (talk) 23:15, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Red Sox Revert using Pop Ups

Damn you... I almost got to use my roll back but NOOOOO you got to it first. Curses. ;) Beam 20:36, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Hehe, yer that's correct. :P I'v been watch listing that article (der, it's my favorite baseball team) and I just saw that and said to myself 'hey, I like the Red Sox, how rude" and yeah, I reverted it. I would've used rollback (if I had it, I've been offered 3 times and but I declined them), but I'm just to fast for the rollbackers when my popups "pop-up" infront of them. ;) -- RyRy (talk) 20:41, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
I have pop-ups too, but I wanted to be official with it. Also, I like the Red Sox more than you! Not only am I a do nothing member of the project, but I have a Red Sox tatoo that I got in 02 why they still sucked. So there. Beam 20:44, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
You've proved me wrong. Hope you revert vandalism on Boston Red Sox one day (that'll be the day :P). -- RyRy (talk) 20:47, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

What is Around the World?

It's a collaboration!

A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools!

If everything goes according to plan, it will begin on July 15th.

The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Wikipedia and perhaps beyond) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World..."

The set of pages we are working on is currently located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.

Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Wikipedia. When completed, they shall all become part of Wikipedia's contents system.

The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than getting stuck on a single country trying to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!

For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees.  :) The energy is contagious.

And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.

The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.

For an example of what a nearly complete page looks like, see these:

List of basic Albania topicsList of basic Argentina topicsList of basic Australia topicsList of basic Canada topicsList of basic Ecuador topicsList of basic Egypt topicsList of basic France topicsList of basic Germany topicsList of basic Iceland topicsList of basic India topicsList of basic Indonesia topicsList of basic Iraq topicsList of basic Republic of Ireland topicsList of basic Italy topicsList of basic Isle of Man topicsList of basic Israel topicsList of basic Japan topicsList of basic Macau topicsList of basic Mexico topicsList of basic Russia topicsList of basic Taiwan topicsList of basic United Kingdom topicsList of basic United States topics

There are only about 200 more pages to go!

During the collaboration, co-coordinators will be standing by, to lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators will also be using advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.

Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

Copy edits and the massive backlog

Hey there!

I'm sending you this because I noticed you were active in the former league of copy-editors. I joined the LOCE something like a few days before it became historical, and have been making a lonely effort to reduce the copy-edit backlog, so I've been curious - why did the LOCE close, are there any efforts going on out there to reduce the copy-edit backlog, and do you think there's a point in establishing (and would you join) a wikiproject purely to maintain the category of articles needing copy edits?

I've been having a hard time getting people on related projects (WP:PR, WP:GAN, etc) to help with the backlog, so I'm trying to gather suggestions or help regarding starting a project simply to maintain the category of articles needing copy edit.

Thanks! ;) --Samuel Tan (talk) 13:44, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey there

I've been watiching you for a bit (in a non creepish manner) and would like to ask you if you could possibly comment on my editor review? Thanks :) DustiSPEAK!! 20:10, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I would be happy to review you. But when I review users at the Simple English Wikipedia, I usually try to go as deep as I can, looking at your history, editing, contributions, ect. I can do that here I guess. Just give me some time and I'll get back to you. Thanks. Oh, and why have you been watching my contributions? :P -- RyRy (talk) 20:16, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
I've just been watching from a distance :) Noticed some good edits.....DustiSPEAK!! 20:21, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks a lot, and I think you should come back to Test Wiki ;) DustiSPEAK!! 20:36, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
"Come back"? Why? I was there earlier today anyway. :P -- RyRy (talk) 20:40, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Were you? Hmph! Totally didn't see that...... Dusti scurries to go take your name off of the inactive users list You haven't edited there in quite awhile. June 1st was the last bit of activity on your account. DustiSPEAK!! 21:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, never mind then. I didn't even know there was an active/inactive user list. :P Hehe. -- RyRy (talk) 21:04, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
There wasn't until I created one last night. I made a suggestion to -Sysop, -Crat, etc. the inactive users in case Grawp succesfully hacked an account. But the discussion's closed and only the inactive CU users had that tool removed. DustiSPEAK!! 21:16, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

<-- Okay, well, I'll try to be more active at The Test Wiki and I'll get to your review soon. Cheers, RyRy (talk) 21:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

RE:Rollback

Congrats! Use it wisely ;-) « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 22:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, rollback on your public account? I'm kind of hesitant to do that since the whole purpose of a public account is to have it as a potential throwaway account in case of keyloggers, or other problems with public computers. But, then again, it's only rollback, not adminship so it can be easily taken away. Okay, after thinking about it, I'll grant the account rollback. Useight (talk) 22:31, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Done. The account has rollback. Useight (talk) 22:34, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
(ec) I added the font, and I am sure you will do just fine. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 22:35, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Haha, yeah, you can play around with the font styles too, I think most of the regular fonts like the ones in MS Word are supported. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 22:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
I removed rollback from that public account per your request here. Useight (talk) 04:02, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Can you help?

I see you were listed as a participant in the League of Copy-Editors so it seems likely you can ... The thing is the Military history wikiproject urgently needs prose pros to help with our best articles. Milhist covers a broad range of interesting and varied subjects from film to biography, battles to weaponry, and Roman emperors to twentieth-century dictators. In Milhist, A-Class has become the last port of call before FAC and we are looking for people to help identify prose and MoS issues at A-Class A-Class Reviews and help fix them prior to featured article candidacy. We also have a copy-editing section in our Logistics Dept and that can always use experienced copy-editors. For most of our articles, you don't need to be a specialist in the subject matter, just good with words.

If you think you can help, please do! Thanks for your time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 04:16, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Copyediting

I've already got Keeper on it, but I guess a little extra help won't hurt... Would you mind copyediting 2002 Bou'in–Zahra earthquake, as per the FAC? BTW, are you still contributing in WP:QUAKE? --I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 04:39, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Not as much as normal. I just occasionally copy edit related articles. I have way too many requests for copyediting, but I'll do as much as I possibly can. -- RyRy (talk) 04:41, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, I'm here there as requested; where are you? :P Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 10:40, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

I can't be bothered to do a new section. :D Congratulations on getting the rollback tool! Finally! RecentChanges would be unbearable with anything but, especially now Huggle has hit the wikinational scene. And the ACC tool is easy; it just looks scary at first. Glad you're putting it to good use! I have another DYK hopeful (List of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim managers), that I submitted under July 2nd. Could your review it? I plan to actually improve to FL Status, but not right now. Right now, I want to get it to DYK standards, then work at FL.--LAAFan 21:23, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm very sorry LAA, but I'm not very experienced in reviewing lists. I'm only good at reviewing normal articles, not lists. All I know is you can't use the actual name of an article. You can't really say "on the list of....". And the article should be categorized. I suggest letting someone else review it, and asking User:Milk's Favorite Cookie to rename the hook. Tell him I directed you to him. -- RyRy (talk) 21:29, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the help with that. I've been thinking about, and you deserve this.

Re: Image

Unfortunately, no. An image of Garry Roggenburk would faill NFCC criteria #1.

Garry Roggenburk is currently a pitching coach and a GM for an existing baseball team. In other words, could someone see him coaching and take a picture of him? Definitely. Just chiming in here since I was about to comment on this. In Firefox on a Mac it's almost illegible. RyRy, you might want to consider at least increasing the font size. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 15:55, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, I wouldn't have known that, as I use Safari on a mac. I'll ask User:Gonzo fan2007 to change it again. Thanks, RyRy (talk) 20:32, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
*checks Safari* ahh yes, that's far more legible so I can see why you thought it was OK. It's legible there but like I said, infinitely less so here. I'd have tried to screen cap it for you but I don't have where to upload it. I agree, the font is nice and I can see why you like it -- hoping you still like it a bit larger ;) TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 23:05, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
It really depends when Gonzo changes it. As he's offline for now, we would just have to wait. He was the one who added the font in the first place. Anyway, I'm currently doing some account creating and rollbacking. Cheers, RyRy (talk) 23:14, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Creating new accounts

Why so many? Sorry to bother you, but it seems strange. GaryColemanFan (talk) 05:44, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

It's not strange at all. I'm an account creator. It's a right that some users and all admins have. Usually, there are requests for other users to create an account because the users requesting can't create an account themselves because their user name is too similar to other user names or they can't read the CAPTCHA. That's where we account creators come along and create those accounts. I just happened to be the only one fulfilling so many requests. You ca look at me user creation log for the requests I've done. -- RyRy (talk) 05:50, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. I just wanted to make sure that nobody had gotten a hold of your password. I've never head of account creators before, so I guess I learned something tonight. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 05:57, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

I know you recently agreed to copy-edit the aforementioned article, and User:Guyinblack25 recently made an attempt to copy-edit. Another run-through by an uninvolved editor (probably will be quicker since a big chunk of the problems were likely addressed) will likely be all that's needed before nominating it at WP:FLC. There's certainly no rush, but I'm just pointing this out. Thanks, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 07:15, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for that. I'm currently busy with other things during this time. I only made 1 copy-edit so far to the article and I don't know when I will do more. I can probably only do a few bits of copyedits at a time. It's good to have some others helping out. I'll do more as soon as I get a few things aside. -- RyRy (talk) 07:19, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: Check

Looking through, I see you are doing a lot of admin-related work. This is good for RFA when you do apply. I suggest not talking about it, because Adminship should not be a goal. Otherwise, you are doing very good AFD work, showing knowledge of consensus and policy doing non-admin closures. You are also doing great vandalism patrol, seeing a lot of AIV reports on your contribs list. You are also creating many articles, which is always a plus. Hope this helped. Review

I went through your last couple hundred user talk edits and found no evidence of incivility. Looking through your recent mainspace work (aside from the reverts), I saw some great work. Going through your edits to the Wikipedia space I saw good work at AFD and a bunch of reports to AIV. Good work. Useight (talk) 16:56, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Re:List of Naruto characters

Hmm...they sorta follow the ninja mold you're probably familiar with, but in the Naruto universe, a ninja is basically anyone that can perform jutsu (magic/spells/techniques/etc.). Training to become a ninja largely revolves around learning jutsu more or less. Some of the items from contemporary ninja are present: kunai, lots and lots of smoke clouds, etc. I think the lead addresses this by pointing out ninja use jutsu. Do you think further clarification is necessary? Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 07:32, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Inputbox

What's with those two inputbox tags at the top of your page? What else can you make them do? Graham (talk, contrib) 20:19, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, everything that you can do with them have been listed User:RyRy/Sandbox2. There are also some at the bottom at my links page. -- RyRy (talk) 20:32, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Baseball articles

Hey. Just letting you know that for when you do the infobox, I find Template:Infobox MLB retired to be a lot easier to use than Infobox MLB player if the player is retired. That's just my opinion though, in either case keep up the good work. Wizardman 03:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Oh, thanks for the advice. I generally create or expand baseball players who have retired. For example, see Garry Roggenburk and Willis Roberts I've recently been working on, which were recently approved at DYK. I use the same infobox for each retired baseball player I create, generally. -- RyRy (talk) 03:50, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

IRC

Clerking at RfR

Well I don't think it's ever been done before, but sure, that'll be great. It would be good having someone to informally point out when the candidate is unsuitable (edit warring, unclean block log in last three months, bad reversions, NO reversions etc). I suggest only pointing out concerns; if the candidate is suitable, leave it blank. Most of the time there is no problem, but sometimes admins don't spot everything. :) Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 06:43, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

The image has a transparent background, that is just the shadow you see. I could probably get rid of the shadow if you dont want it. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 06:27, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Weird, well I guess that won't work. Anyhow, I have removed the shadow from the image so now it is fully transparent. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 06:45, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Closure of AFD for Wasp Factory Records

I believe you may have erred in your early non-admin closure of the AFD for Wasp Factory Recordings. The debate had not run it's course, less than 4 days. The debate and the article did not show that the subject was highly notable. Two of the keep comments did not give any reasons.[citation needed] Two others partially relied on usenet posts, not reliable sources. The award mentioned does not give any indication about it's notability, and thus relevance. The article still lacks reliable sources. Duffbeerforme (talk) 11:26, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, there is no set date weather a debate should run for 4 days. I will notify the nominator about your concerns and until then I will reopen the debate if asked. -- RyRy (talk) 11:29, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
It was my understanding that AFDs are meant to go for 5 days. Not sure if thats true. Duffbeerforme (talk) 11:53, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
There is no certain amount of time. Whenever consensus is reached, a close will be done whenever an editor comes by to do so. Would you like me to re-open the AfD? -- RyRy (talk) 11:56, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes I would. Thank you. Duffbeerforme (talk) 11:58, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Done, and your welcome. I will be notifying the nominator as I think he would like to know. It will be time to close the AfD once consensus is reached or when the nominator withdraws the AfD. Thanks, RyRy (talk) 12:03, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
I found where I got my idea of the timing from. 'Articles listed here are debated for up to five days'. My misunderstanding, says up to, Sorry. Duffbeerforme (talk) 12:16, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh, no worries. Everybody makes mistakes. It's up to you though if you would like the debate to continue or not... do you want it to resume? -- RyRy (talk) 12:18, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes I would. I have added a comment to it. Once again, thanks Duffbeerforme (talk) 12:23, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Your welcome. If you ever have any questions in the future, my talk page is always open. Good luck with the AfD. ;) Regards, RyRy (talk) 12:26, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Note: CC to Nunquam Dormio
After reviewing the IP’s block log, talk page, and contributions - where I found vandalism since the previous block expired - I decided to block it for 6 months. —Travistalk 12:42, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Oh, thanks for the note. I have no opposes on it as I didn't see the previous blocks and vandalism edits; I only looked at the previous ones until I looked over it again after User:Nunquam Dormio replied. And I have no problem with the block; it's even possible to block such IPs for a year. -- RyRy (talk) 12:44, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

once more Henry Levy lol

hi again! thanks so much for your help. I noticed that on the title of the article the L on Levy is lower case, thus the title appears to be Henry levy. I clicked on edit but it wont let me change it, how can I change it? thanks!

WP:HAU, Status, and you!

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible) system - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:41, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

  • Further to the above, I noticed you were using Misza's system before; if you prefer that you can make it HAU-compatible as explained here. In any case, I've cleared your |status=n flag. Let me know if you have any further questions. –xenocidic (talk) 15:20, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

DYK

I have started to work on another DYK to go along with my other two current submissions. The page is Bob Allen (Cleveland Indians) However, after expanding to the best of my limits for this player, I found I came up short in terms of main text (is about 1,350 with characters right now). Would you be willing to help with this. If you do, I would gladly submit the article as a co-nomination. --LAAFan 17:01, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Never mind. I was able to stretch it. COuld you review it and my other article submission? The other one is Santo Alcala.--LAAFan 18:55, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Done. I can't review Santo Alcala, though. Sorry. I'm not really sure about the hook. But I reviewed the other. Cheers, RyRy (talk) 20:18, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry about not getting back to you on those DYK noms. (they're now gone...) I recently had my wisdom teeth out and my wikitime has been limited somewhat. Again, sorry about that. Thingg 17:03, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Can you copyedit Mangalore?

Hi there, I saw you listed at Wikipedia:PRV#General copyediting as a copyeditor. I was wondering if you would copyedit Mangalore which is a city article. The article is already a GA and it uses UK English. Hope that's not a problem. Language is very simple and the prose is quite precise. Copyediting won't take much of your time. Thanks!. Kensplanet (talk) 18:10, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I could copyedit the article. Just give me some time and I'll be done in no time. -- RyRy (talk) 20:18, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Take your own time. No problem! In the meantime I can manage copyediting by myself!,Kensplanet (talk) 06:56, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I did some copyediting already. I just noticed some referencing problems. There shouldn't be a space between references and characters. For example: "Las Vegas was one of the most populated cities in America <ref>". You see, there is a space between the last "a" in America and the ref. That is not supposed to happen. Watch out for that. Thanks, RyRy (talk) 07:06, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
