In researching this, I came across reference to the JC Penney collection there. I emailed them and asked about access to the collection. They replied that the material was not digitized and asked specifically what I was interested in. I told them about the Wikipedia article I was writing using newspaper articles as source and provided a link to the article for them to see. They then scanned and sent me what they had relating to Foremost Dairy. They provided this in specific response to request to use material in the article. This why I say I have permission. OK. See Wikipedia:Image use policy they would have to agree to release the photographs under an acceptable free license. Note that images that are licensed for use only on Wikipedia, or only for non-commercial or educational use, or under a license that doesn't allow for the creation of modified/derived works, are unsuitable. This morning I deleted a lot of redirects to articles in main space about steam locomotives that were deleted for CSD G5 reasons and the commonality among them is that you accepted them all through AFC and moved them out of Draft space. But they were all deleted by Ponyo for being the work of a sockpuppet that is located in Australia. We have an ongoing problem with an active sockpuppet who works on these types of articles and now that you've been informed about this, I hope you will be a little more skeptical when you see a sudden influx of newly created articles on this subject. If they have significant edits by editors in good standing, they don't need to be deleted, just reverted to the state they were in before the banned editor started editing them. I appreciate that it isn't easy to recognize if the editor in question is legitimate or not if you aren't familiar with them, and that AfC reviewers are not omniscient, but apart from the geolocation to Sydney or Melbourne there are some behavioral and writing style tells that allow for identification. If in doubt, myself and User:Pi.1415926535 are very familiar with this editor. WT:TRAINS is also available as a resource if needed. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 16:32, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

Promotional tone

Hi, you put a comment saying that my article was written in a promotional tone. Could you explain to me what that is/why that is seen as incorrect. I am still unsure what the meaning of 'promotional' is but I can easily site the sources for these statements.
Securitization is a massive threat to humanitarian organisations and is a very real thing that scholars have discussed, I will be sure to add the sources for that.
What do you mean by primary sources being not independent? My primary sources are from ECJ, EU Commissions and press statements that describe the events as happened; in all of my historical research primary sources are a standard and used as the most important form of citation. While they can be subject to bias when there are other supporting statements and events, like in this article, I don't understand why they should not be used CattJohn (talk) 17:40, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

Talk:Lucy Letby#RFC on Lead sentence

@Theroadislong: Hi there and happy New Year! I'm just messaging as, recently, you suggested (rightly, imo) the blocked advocacy-pushing editor Richard D. Gill had his talk page access revoked after he came back on his talk and continued his advocacy: [3]. As you might have already been aware, he had originally been reported on ANI and then blocked for advocacy in trying to portray Lucy Letby as wrongfully convicted: [4].

But now some editors suspiciously want to replace the first line on Lucy Letby that says "British serial killer and former neonatal nurse" to "is a British former neonatal nurse, convicted of the serial murder of seven infants and attempted murder of six others". So basically, they want to get rid of her being called a serial killer, on various grounds including "I don't think we can assert in Wiki's voice that she is a murderer". But surely, the place we decide where someone is guilty of a crime is in court, and having been convicted it is perfectly reasonable to describe her as a murderer in Wikivoice? I might understand it more if there were massive and consistent doubts about her conviction, but there isn't any any such wider doubts.

What I think is particularly improper is that the whole debate was started after the already-blocked Richard Gill apparently appeared again(!) to evade his block and suggest the whole intro be changed to claim she is just an "alleged" killer: [5] - EXACTLY the same wording he'd suspiciously been posting and asking for on his own Twitter account!: [6]. Clara Millicent Taylor

Thanks for your comments on my submission for a new page on CMT. To explain the purpose: for several decades two women scientists (Dr Millicent Taylor (1871-1960) and Clara Millicent Taylor (1885-1940) have been conflated on Wiki and this mix up has got everywhere on the web and in publications e.g. The Biographical Dictionary of Women in Science by Ogilvie M et al (2014), Routledge. By coincidence both were notable organic chemists, both were notable educators, and both at one stage lived in Bristol. The wiki page for Dr Millicent Taylor has now been corrected with information relating to CMT removed. I am now trying to write a page for CMT to acknowledge her contribution to science and education and also to clear up the mess /conflation. Aside from the desire to clear up the mess, I feel her contribution is notable. During her research career she worked and published with two of the foremost chemists for her period, Thomas Hill Easterfield in New Zealand and (later Sir) William Jackson Pope, in Cambridge. Her research career then probably hit a glass-ceiling and, to earn a living as a single woman, moved into teaching at which she also excelled. I hope this helps. Many thanks. If you do not have a COI, then you are at least an advocate even if it is simply personal interest. @Theroadislong Hi there, thanks for removing the tag. I wanted to take a moment to write back to make sure that I have a thoughtful response that explains where I'm coming from but doesn't come off as defensive. This is a long reply, but hopefully it will help clear some things up:
In hindsight, looking at how the article started, I see where you're coming from on this. I originally modeled what I wrote off of what I saw from Wikipedia articles about other health insurance organizations, since those were approved for publication. Now, I'm realizing that I should have been looking at articles that are not about a specific organization and more about a topic related to public health. Public health articles, not ones about companies and organizations, probably tend to be more neutral from the start.
Here's why I wrote the article: MetroPlusHealth is something that is unique within the world of American healthcare. Almost no cities, except for Los Angeles and San Fransisco, have a prominent public health insurance option that operates as a safety net for uninsured populations. Other larger U.S. cities rely on state, not city, insurance options to form a non-Medicaid/care public health safety net. There are also few insurance organizations, whether for-profit or not-for-profit, that have been around as long as MetroPlusHealth and directly address Social Determinants of Health (SDHs). Despite decades of peer reviewed research saying that focusing on the social causes of poor health outcomes can lead to healthier and longer lives, few insurance companies use research-based initiatives to address SDHs. These three things—its age, its position as a large, municipally-led, universal healthcare option, and its SDH initiatives—made me think MetroPlusHealth is a good article topic.
When I was first writing this article, I was thinking about what things I could cite that would "prove" that it's worthy of publication. Awards and its connections to existing Wikipedia entries (NYFD, NYC neighborhoods, etc.) seemed like they would add helpful context about why MetroPlusHealth is important. Background information on the topics related to MetroPlusHealth's SDH initiatives was meant to show why what they were doing is connected to the outside world. Specific information about MetroPlusHealth, like the plans they offer, was meant to show that their insurance impacts many different people. All of these choices were supposed to demonstrate why MetroPlusHealth is meant to be on Wikipedia. They had the opposite effect. My approach was wrong.
Also, just to note: Although this is the only article I've written, I have put in edits related to other health topics (smoking, public health programs, etc.) since healthcare and public health are topics that I'm interested in and have knowledge of. I do not contribute to Wikipedia every day (or even every month, admittedly), but I do contribute. I didn't realize that my lack of consistent contributions would negatively color how article approvers view the piece I wrote. I will contribute more to help Wikipedia stay more up to date on what's happening in the world and better integrate myself into the Wikipedia community.

That wouldn't really help with getting it accepted, your draft describes what the organisation does fairly well, but Wikipedia is more interested in what independent sources have reported about them in depth, with significant coverage. Hello. I am messaging you about the speedy deletion notice on my article, Electronic Theater Controls. First, I would like to apologize for the confusion. I must admit I was a bit jumpy when it came to writing my first articles. Secondly, I ask if there is any way to revert my article back to a draft. I did not intend to publish my article yet; I was under the impression that I was creating a draft of an article because I had done the same thing last night and it had functioned correctly.

What is the best course of action at this time. Should I copy and paste the data into a new draft, or is there another way? I intend to write a comprehensive article on this subject, and would love to continue contributing to wikipedia.

I didn't see that draft this morning because I had spelt it wrong, and was only looking at live pages. Looking at the decline history, it seems that the guy who made it was not using good sources. I think that the company is still notable enough for a page, similar to Clay Paky, another reputable lighting company. Do you think if I find good sources that there would be a chance for it to be approved? I also don't know if some of the reviewers were declining it because of the niche topic. Draft:Jožo Nižnánsky would like to be article on Jožo Nižnánsky, a long ago deceased Slovak language writer, generally unknown in English language environment. So general question I propose to deal with is how to deal with such cases. As to my knowledge English language wikipedia should be underpinned with English language sources primarily, but there is nothing as to this theme concerned. Okey, however they are not easy to check then.
You now, it is possible cite many non-credible sites in foreign language, e.g in my language, and they shall be treated as reliable, only due unintelligibility.
I cite goodreads and IMDb only to reassure of existence of writer about whom I write article, as far as in english-language based part of internet. It should only be supporting source.
Main source for credibility of information as to birthdate, death and life etc, books written etc. in this case should be website of parastatal agency https://www.litcentrum.sk/en/institution/slovenske-literarne-centrum-slovak-literary-centre.

Hi! I am still relatively new at writing Wikipedia entries. This one came about for two reasons. First, I watched a video [8]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNSWTwB-_bk that had a quote at the beginning from Glasow. That sent me down the rabbit hole to learn more about him. I quickly realized that he has dozens of notable quotes on dozens of sites...but there is very little information out there about his personal life. I started researching his books...and came across a review of his book "Gloombusters" on Amazon. The reviewer felt that it was an oversight that Wikipedia did not have any entry on Glasow. I learned that he shunned the spotlight but yet he has so many incredible timeless quotes that I believe make him worthy of an entry. I am sure that I can find some more information (I believe I found his gravesite which may be helpful in validating some personal information. The article is about a particular algorithm and particular results in Computer Science. The article summarises the key results from peer-reviewed highly respected sources (scientific publications) which are cited. These are the best sources possible. I am indeed involved with the discovery of the results (which I tagged myself) but the results are not about me or promoting myself but bringing peer-reviewed results of general importance to the community. I am sorry but that is a bit incomprehensible - how can peer reviewed research re-written for wikipedia be inappropriate content?(e.g. Flooding algorithm or Flooding (computer networking)). If you don't want the authors to write it (who themselves are university professors), then it has to be a third party, isnt' it? Thank you. Please can you explain further? For example, how do I "prove" the subject spoke many languages, apart from giving examples of published articles in other languages, or references in published articles? I have given details of press cuttings that I have with name of newspaper, date etc. I am able to refer to a published article that itself contains factual inaccuracies because clearly the journal that published the article did not ask for evidence (i.e. date of death). So I am not clear what "independent of subject" means and I am struggling to meet requirements, when I own a lot of evidence (e.g. letters, photographs etc) but cannot refer to it. Hello. I am curious to know why my contributions were totally deleted, after being supported with sources. I do my best to add that and to provide with sources. E.g. "Legacy" section - It is clear true, that there is a street named after Jožo Nižnánsky in municipality of Brestovany and memorial plate, you can see ti clearly on google maps even.

Secondly, I could provide every fact and figure with due citing, though in Slovak language. But everything is deleted and article not submitted.

Earlier today, you nominated a redirect that I had created for Bianca Censori for WP:SPEEDYDELETION under the WP:G6 criteria. I'm not entirely familiar with the process, but although it does outline that you can delete pages to prep for page moves, I'm not sure this is permitted for drafts that are currently in this state, and will likely not see the light of the mainspace for a while.

Thank you for reviewing this article and providing your feedback. S C F Farmer was awarded an OBE for his service, wrote peer reviewed articles that are still being cited 70 years later and was internationally respected in his field. I am puzzled as to why he does not qualify? There are many examples of music personalities (for example) who get a category to themselves in the metadata (e.g. Taylor Swift), where as entire categories of social sciences are missing (e.g. Probation). I appreciate that some references are offline chapters in books or paywalled, but this is the case with many professions. I would be grateful for advice as to why this is still declined... and how I can improve the chances of acceptance. 27 years leading probation in this country and advising around the world is fairly significant, enough to be recognised by his own profession in their centenary celebrations in 2007. However persistent online references are challenging to identify due to multiple reorganisations and privatisation of probation, wikis could redress some of that balance, for people whose lives were largely pre-digital era and/or limited about what could be spoken about during their lifetimes. This can help people towards their research and highlight the contribution of public servants from a time when personal notoriety was not sought and references to them were often by role rather than name.
