Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Autopatrolled

[edit]

A good editor and content creator, they have created a total of 133 articles. One was deleted via G14 in 2022, and another was deleted via A3 back in 2014. Since then, they have created many BLPs and other topic articles, none of which have been deleted. I think they are good to go. GrabUp - Talk 16:44, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done. I think it's been some ten years User:Hansmuller, since we interacted on nl:Lise Meitner. It's nice to see you here. I see you've been blocked indefinitely in the Dutch Wikipedia for various conflicts in Wikipedia space unrelated to article content, but this did not impact my decision.
I've checked ~10 creations and have noted & tagged one major issue (an uncited short para in a BLP), and a few minor ones (formatting, which I've corrected). You tend to WP:OVERCITE (having 4-5 citations after a paragraph, for instance in Sol de Carvalho), which makes it more difficult to connect sources to specific content. It might be better to put additional citations in a Further reading section if there is unused information in them. I'm also a bit concerned with the Car speed and energy consumption AfD, which resulted in a redirect. Created end of December, it shows essay and textbook tendencies which I don't expect in articles from autopatrolled editors.
Overall, feel free to nominate yourself when you've created another 8-12 clean articles, as we're not far from the threshold. —Femke 🐦 (talk) 14:08, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

GnocchiFan has made 5,000+ edits this year alone including seven Good Articles. They make extensive use of WMF Library to improve sourcing and prose. I believe they are both an excellent editor and also communicator, evident at sensitive article topics at 1984 anti-Sikh riots and Gender and sexual minorities in the Ottoman Empire. In short, let's reduce NPP backlog by giving them auto-patrolled status. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 12:11, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Also worth mentioning GnocchiFan created 84 non redirect articles. One article was deleted Sophie Ottaway 8-months ago. ~ 🦝 Shushugah (he/him • talk) 12:25, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

has created 36 articles, of which over 60 percent (!) are B-class or higher. This was requested and (rightfully) turned down last year, but they have created many more articles and there's no need to patrol. Charlotte (Queen of Heartstalk) 05:17, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

 Done —Femke 🐦 (talk) 08:37, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

I would like to introduce another editor with a strong history of editing and article creation. They have created 2,114 articles, including 2 GAs. Their creations include BLPs, which are essential for obtaining the AP flag. Only one of their articles was deleted in 2023 via AfD, and others are G6. Since then, no articles have been deleted. I believe it would be beneficial to grant them this right to help reduce the NPP backlog. GrabUp - Talk 13:27, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

I found out after nominating that they had previously been granted AP by MusikAnimal, but it was later revoked in 2022 by Primefac due to copyright violations. I am not withdrawing the nomination, as it was two years ago, and the issue may have been resolved, so let’s see if they can be trusted now. GrabUp - Talk 13:42, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
(Non-admin comment, but I'm bored) I spot checked their most recent creation,Anthony Michael Hillas, made after this request. Compared to the source [1]
Hillas returned to the University of Leeds in 1959 as a lecturer and made it understood that he refused to be assigned duties similar to those he performed at Harwell
He returned to Leeds in 1959 as a lecturer making it understood that he would not work on the embryonic air-shower experiment
His Monte Carlo computer program, MOCCA, for high-energy air shower studies, was used extensively in the design of the Pierre Auger Observatory.
His final Monte Carlo program for high-energy shower studies, known as MOCCA, was used extensively in the design of what became the Pierre Auger Observatory.
He collected rocks, pebbles, and fossils and keenly followed radio and television programs on geology.
He collected rocks, pebbles and fossils and avidly followed radio and TV programs dealing with geology.
Spotchecking more, like Thomas Wallace (horticulturalist) to [2], reveals similar issues
After sufficient recovery from his wounds, Wallace was assigned to the Anti-Gas Department of the Royal Engineers
When he had recovered sufficiently from his wounds Wallace, was seconded to the Royal Engineers for service in the Anti-Gas Department.
When the land to be sloughed up had a soil type which might prove deficient in some minerals, Wallace recommended the use of indicator plots. (Fun with thesauruses)
When land was to be broken on a soil type which might prove deficient, he recommended the use of indicator plots.
NPP can't deal with WP:CLOP (or anything but Earwig readable copyvio) and all these articles have been sailing through, however. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 07:22, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
Not done Thank you for having been bored, GreenLipstickLesbian. That was a productive piece of work. There's no way that Suslindisambiguator should be autopatrolled. Schwede66 08:37, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Seems to be an experienced content creator whose creations are no longer in need of input from NPP. They don't have a clean record of their articles being kept at AfD, but the last deletion was a year and half and 60 articles ago, and looking through a random sampling of their work since then doesn't reveal any major issues. I occasionally rename new articles to fix poor titles. I also sometimes want to move new articles to draftspace. Generally, neither case needs a redirect for the old title. — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 11:23, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi, as part of working at AfC I come across submissions on editors main userpage or sandbox that need to be cleanly moved to draft (i.e. without leaving a redirect). I stopped moving such submissions years ago as if the editor starts another article I was then the creator rather the actual creator which never seemed right to me. It would also be useful for when new editors create/move drafts to the Wikipedia or Template namespaces either in error or attempting to promote/spam. KylieTastic (talk) 12:20, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Done Elli (talk | contribs) 22:53, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

I frequently make/request moves – usually either making titles WP:CONCISE, or draftifying/fixing typos in titles as part of WP:NPP. I would like to be able to handle more of these myself, including WP:R2 suppression, but especially WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA pageswaps. These usually require updating the categories afterward, which will be much easier if I'm doing the pageswap myself, rather than remembering to come back once my request at WP:RM/T is carried out. Speaking of which, I've really appreciated WP:RM/T, and if I'm granted the pagemover right I intend to "give back" by handling requests there. jlwoodwa (talk) 01:09, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer

I have reviewed the criteria for receiving this permission, and feel my contribution history demonstrates an adequate knowledge of creating, expanding, and patrolling articles in accordance to Wikipedia policies. Tvfunhouse (talk) 00:54, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello hello, I have been a Wikipedian for well over 4 months now, and I feel that I have learned a great many things about the site in terms of editing, content, policies, and conduct that I could have never imagined beforehand. If given this right, I humbly commit to using it to the utmost competent and fair / legitimate nature that I possibly can. Thank you Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:52, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

I have been contributing to pages for three years now, with prior experience in patrolling edit filter log. I would like to get reviewer rights so I can contribute to Wikipedia in more ways than I am able to, presently, and help with the backlog. Since my last request in July, I've been making a track record of communicating collegially with other editors, in my talk page and elsewhere. I hope you'll consider me. I'm an experienced user, and would like to help out at pending changes. I know the backlog is small, but I see no reason why I can't spend a bit of time to make it smaller. I have experience in anti-vandalism, and already some *limited* experience reviewing changes at Wikibooks, where I hold the reviewer right (although I am not super active there). I've been doing RC Patrolling (as a part of Anti-Vandalism) on Wikipedia for a while now, and I think that having the Pending Changes reviewer permission could be a good idea - there have been numerous instances involving a pending changes edit that I look at while looking through Special:RecentChanges that i wanted to accept/deny/etc, and i feel that this permission would be beneficial for my efficeincy. DM5Pedia 04:34, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

While I haven't been editing for very long (only a few months), I have rollback rights and frequently revert vandalism. I also review Redirects for Creation, which is under pending changes protection. I've read the guidelines on reviewing pending changes. LR.127 (talk) 17:18, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

I've been patrolling recent changes for a while now and frequently revert vandalism. However, I often come across constructive edits that I can't do much about. For this reason, I would like to have the pending changes reviewer tool to mark these edits as reviewed and broadly acceptable for public view , allowing me to take on new tasks. Cysquatch (talk) 18:36, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Done Elli (talk | contribs) 22:55, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I believe that I'd be a good Pending Changes Reviewer, as I have a good amount of time on my hands, and can do monotonous tasks, like denying obvious vandalism, and the like. I meet, what I believe are all the requirements for this right, and humbly ask to receive this privilege. Thanks in advance! Legendbird (talk) 09:06, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Rollback

[edit]

I would like access to rollback for more efficiently combating vandalism. I have gained experience in patrolling RecentChanges. I also make sure to always warn (and welcome new users) after reverting their edits on their talk page. I declare that I have read through all the policies regarding vandalism. Bunnypranav (talk) 11:01, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done I noticed you started actively reverting vandalism a few days ago. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd like to see you spend more time gaining experience fighting vandalism before assigning you advanced permissions. Keep up the good work, and consider reapplying in a month. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits (I recommend using tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet which makes this extremely easy). Thanks, Fastily 07:36, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Template editor

[edit]

I have made quite a few edit requests in the Template talk namespace, as well as edits directly in the template namespace. I always test my changes in the sandbox before making edits directly. I am also a Commons admin and have made lots of technical changes in templates there as well. I am currently focussing on turning templates to be dark mode compatible, and many templates and editnotices are template protected. Therefore I request template editor so it can be more easy to implement dark mode compatibility into templates.
