Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Lucasbfr, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact our administrator general Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Wiki Administrator abuses

Hello Lucasbfr,

TheronJ has repeatedly been vandalizing the Clint Curtis page, including the deletion of well cited sentences, paragraphs, the insertion of obvious bias (including the summary of a Wired news article that was completly skewed to slander Curtis's biography). Today he deleted quotes and citations from the Orlando Sentinel.

If you do an intestigation, he is a political activist that vandalizes negativly the profiles of Democrats by deleting information that can be considered positive and adds negative content and does exactly the opposite to Republican profiles. TheronJ insists that this is "balance." If you look on the Curtis page, you will see that Tom Feeney's response to Curtis's allegations has been twice as long as the section that describes the allegations. Under a campaign issues section, he adds Feeney's response to Curtis. It is wrong because the issues do not mention Feeney at all. Not only do these NOT reflect balance, it is a serious violation of Wikipedia's standards that requires action.

TheronJ is abusing his power as a Wiki manager and has had repeated warnings in the discussion page of Clint Curtis and now his user talk page. These flagerant abuses deligitimize Wikipedia and places it in a difficult position of dealing with slander against a living person.

In his last edit, he completly vandalized the "links" section.

Please take whatever action you can to take see that these abuses no longer continue.

Thank you. Rememberkigali 22:52, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Messier Mark

Just so you're aware, this user, who you recently reverted, is well aware of the seriousness of this project. He's part of the VaughanWatch family of sockpuppets, intent only on disrupting Wikipedia and defaming me. Thanks for reverting. In the future, if you come across these edits, feel free to tag the socks with {{VaughanWatch}} after they've been blocked. -- Chabuk T • C ] 05:53, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Tanith Belbin

I was shortening the names of the Grand Prix events and removing a two year old result from "recent results". How is that vandalism? 129.2.223.159 21:28, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Answered on this user's talk page, I had already reverted my changes, dunno what happened...

Thank you

Thanks for my barnstar! And I want to say "my bad" about the bot thing, although I guess it's not necessarily my fault. A few weeks back I kept getting my own edits in VP2 and after a while I added myself to the blacklist with a reason like "block this idiot". So at least vpbot's not mad at me because of that anymore (the people who have to put up with my name popping up may be another story).

That's an awesome barnstar, by the way, thank you. Keep up the great work. I notice I keep running into/being beaten by you on RC! Let me know any time you need RC help (if you ever do) and I'll hop to it if I'm online. Thanks again -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 21:52, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Hull Kingston Rovers

I spent a total of Hrs changing the Hull Kingston Rovers 2006 squad to the 2007 squad. I even added all the coaches this times and It's all been wiped. Any chance you can explain why it has been reverted please. And is there any point in re-submitting the info? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eastyhkr (talkcontribs) .

The Unsigned

Actually, I rathe rlike to keep those comments on the page. I'm not sure why, exactly. Perhaps I feel as though if I take a stand and anger somebody in the process, I should at the very least read their bizarre rants. Cheers! – ClockworkSoul 23:09, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

John 1:1 Page

The reason I deleted some things on the John 1:1 page is because Quaker24 has duplicate Bible versions under his "Different Bible Version" sub-topic. He has the same versions listed two or three different times. I just felt that the duplicates should be erased.68.91.35.219 23:59, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

I'm not discouraged by any debate regarding AfDs. It's nice too see that there are plenty of reasonable people who spend time addressing issues on Wikipedia. Thanks for the information you posted. -J 10:23, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm really not sure why you tagged this article as a copyvio. First off, you didn't list a reason, nor did you list the original source, as the tag seems to indicate is required. Second, though the original article as posted by User:Baphometal contained copyvios in the text, I believe I removed them in my edits. Please explain. Thanks.--Robbstrd 23:17, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Re: Bamf

Discussion of the website Badassmofo.com is a perfectly valid entry for an article discussing the acronym BAMF. Encyclopedic information is useless if it is not complete, and limiting the Bamf article to its relevence in the marvel comic books is insufficient. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.25.213.61 (talkcontribs) .

Did you actually read the comments on the page?

Editing Article

You have accused me of editing an article, but I have no knowledge of editing any articles at all. I don't edit Wikipedia, I simply come here for information. Maybe someone in my household or within my IP range made the edit, but I don't recall ever editing anything. I just thought I would let this be known.

Editing Article

Wikipedia pretends to be a valuable resource, but the entries are often quite limited and sketchy, usually linking to other similarly limited and sketchy entries elsewhere in Wikipedia and thus creating a large cross-reference with basic content.

It discriminates against external sites that have more/better information on a topic on the basis that they might have opinions or be commercially based. I would say that rather than spend their time excluding people from Wikipedia and enforcing numerous elitist rules, the editors should be looking sympathetically at external sites that might add value to the Wikipedia knowledge base and to Wikipedia users.

It's also elitist in that it says it is looking for content from scientists and doctors and so on. There are lot of very knowledgeable and articulate people who aren't either of the above.—

All I asked for was for someone to look sympathetically at my content and recognise its value and relevance. But as inclusion seems SUCH A CONVOLUTED AND PAINFUL PROCESS I am going to focus on my goals which don't coincide with yours. This experience today has left a bad impression of what Wikipedia is about and how it deals with positive contributions.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Davidjohnbarnes (talkcontribs) .

You said: Please understand that if everyone was acting like you, we would have a hundred of external links at the bottom of popular entries like the Beatles, resulting on a unusable directory.

I feel my comment was deleted wrongfully. Dill owns and he's more important that Stefan Farrenkopf. Maybe it could be rephrased, but he is the best thing to ever hit the Columbus Academy theater. Since when did Wikipedia dis-allow truthful edits. Man, this school and Wikipedia, a bunch of commies I tell ya. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.31.148.57 (talkcontribs) .

What are you referring to?

I received a message from you. I'm not sure what you're referring to. Thank you --Migdiachinea 01:03, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

If you're referring to the page on me - please note that entertainment is a difficult profession -- that being said, however, before I came into the picture as a professional screenwriter, there was one (1) Hispanic male writer "associate" member (not enough credits to be a full-fledged current member) of the Writers Guild and no female Hipanics. I was the first Hispanic woman "current" (enough credits) member of the Guild, created the first ever Latino Writers Committee there, and was the first ever to question the Guild on a 1993 discriminatory policy -- as a matter of law -- and also the first ever to testify before Congress at their request in that regard. Out of 100 or so Hispanic Guild members (8000 or so total membership back in 1993, as I helped raise the Hispanic roster), no one else spoke up -- no one. That paltry number of Hispanic Guild members has, in fact, decreased since then and the Guild no longer keeps employment records based on ethnic information because Hispanic membership is so low, it's appalling -- not that I think anyone in entertainment would actually care and those outside of entertainment may not be sophisticated enough in these matters to understand how important and complex the situation really is to all of us. My Congresional material is listed in another encyclopedia and it is part of the congressional record in the Library of Congress. No, I didn't sit in the back of the bus as others did. I don't know what else to say because there's so much more that I wouldn't have the time or space to say it all here. Besides, I have been maltreated and discriminated against quite a bit by all sides, so I'm used to it. Thank you for contacting me, however, you may wish to speak to Evrik on this matter for further clarification, since I was in contact with him earlier. Please inform me as to the criteria and whether they are based on something other than actual civic-minded and creative accomplishments in the face of deliberate discrimination and exclusion, or something else. Please, forgive my numerous attempts at editing this short piece. I've been suffering from allergy-related asthma. It's not fun, but I'm happy to hear your comments.Migdiachinea 01:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi, first of all thank you for expressing your concerns. If I remember well I was referring to a page you created that has been deleted since (therefore I don't have any log to check). The page was very short. Since I couldn't help but remark that your username was very similar, I left a message on your talk page explaining the reason of my edits (I reverted your edit on List of Cuban Americans at the same time since it was pointing to the said page). I have no problem with the current state of the pages now. Thanks a lot for your input (and your story is really interesting and I think it has its place on Wikipedia). Mudaliar

Hi,

I noticed you have reverted the edits by 65.244.148.222 (Article: Mudaliar) to the version by Dangerous boy on November 15, 2006. But this person (65.244.148.222) continues to vandalise this article even though people have given authentic citations. Moreover this person randomly edits this article without giving any kind of citations/ refernces. Could you block this person ? or Could you protect the article from further edit. You could revert back to the version by Dangerous Boy.

Thanks, --Mudaliar 04:27, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi, first of all I wanted to point that I am not an administrator of Wikipedia, even though most of my edits are maintenance tasks. I reverted this user's edit since he was making personal commentaries on the text of the article. Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to decide which version is the right one. The only advice I can give you is to continue trying to contact this editor on its talk page and on the article talk page, to share your points of view, before going further into the dispute process. Remember to assume good faith, this editor might think he is right and you are wrong ;). Happy Editing! -- lucasbfr talk 05:16, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Please advice on message sent to me by Alarob

I don't understand and I'm unable to send Alarob an email. If I don't meet the criteria for this inclusion, then I suggest that Rosa Parks be removed from Wikipedia, as well. It takes courage to stand firm against injustice and discrimination at the expense of one's own career. Please, advice -- Migdiachinea 05:31, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, Lucasbfr, for starting a consultative process about this article. I agree it's the best way to go. -- Rob C (Alarob) 17:33, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Just delete my information and let's move on. It doesn't matter in the final analysis. I don't have the power nor the connections to change anything significantly. More importantly, I don't have the time to engage in a struggle over my contributions to entertainment or society at large. Thank you --Mig 14:48, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
