deletion of Hoodlum article

I know the article appeared to be only a definition, but it was actually a work in progress. The Hoodlum gang(s) of San Francisco are discussed in Asbury's book on the Barbary Coast, and I just didn't have enough time to add further info. User:2005

I made an edit to a talk page where in response to a request I tried to remove a single half finished line I mistakenly left in a talk page. The database was lagging 51 seconds at the time and somehow other comments were removed according to the edit history. I have no explaination for that, but it was not my intent. However, to block a user with 10,000+ edits without asking ANY question or warning is quite an inappropriate action for an administrator. Aside from vandalism and BLP issues, talk comments of course should not be removed, and in a few years and thousands of edits I never done this prior to this mistake, so a block like this is extremely inappropriate. I assume this inappropriate (and frankly not nice) action was done in part because of the sloppy action of another admin who didn't pay attention to what he was doing and warned me about removing tags from a page, which I did not actually do. I reverted another editor's "ignore all rules" merge that had zero support, and direct opposition. Perhaps I didn't do the reversion right, but it is PLAINLY obvious to anyone who would be bothered to look at the edit history what my intent was. This was sloppy work on that admin's part. And while the edit history does appear to show I removed talk comments, putting a block on an editor who has top 5% most good faith edits in the encyclopedia, and literally zero history of anything simlar, can never be jusrified. I asked the blocking admin to unblock account immediately, and suggested he be more careful in the future to make comments to longstanding editors before taking such out of left field action. I have zillion edits in the Wikipedia. I contribute extensively to policy and guideline page discussions, and always follow them (though again it does show I removed talk comments, but that was either a software glitch or a mistake on my part). A block in this case has no possible justification. I would hope you would remove the block if you see this message before the orginal blocker sees his. I have done what is probably hundreds of SSP cases. Check the SSP archives. On RFCU I like to put things like "blocked and tagged" so I know there are no loose ends to tie up, as for the other comments, I hear what you're saying, but sometimes I have things to say--in those cases I'll try not to clerk and just be a regular user. deletion of Thread Hijacking

I saw that you deleted the Thread Hijacking article. While I agree that it can be improved, it should certainly be a part of Wikipedia. Compare the German Wikipedia entry for Thread-Hijacking or google for thread hijacking in mailing list discussions. I intend to clean up and improve the article. Your help needed

Hello Lcasbfr,

My film festival information has been deleted once again. The speedy deletion was based on "blatant advertising, used only to promote someone or something"

The problem I have is that all film festival in the United States have a Wikipedia description of their film festival. We are just trying to populate the Wikipedia Encyclopedia with our information.

SouthSide Film Festival is in our State and they have a simple page about their festival.

Just FYI there is a particularly insipid vandal/zombie program called XRumer which is trying to use Wikipedia for search engine optimization. It creates talk pages (never mainspace pages as it is always IPs) ending in /index.php or / with some nonsense on them, then adds a link a few hours later. If you should see a page matching this design, you should delete it and list it at WP:PTX, and unless the IP creating it has made useful edits, block it indefinitely. 3 Hours?!?

Either you or your bot just blocked an IP for only 3 hours that has a long history of only vandalism after multiple final warnings. This includes blanking the Women's Suffrage page with the following message left: "'why the fuck does this exsist?!!!!!! they cant vote, they have to do my fuckin laundry!!! (and dishes!!!)" I'm still curious as to the reasoning. If it were standard vandalism (insertion of nonsense, or whatever), I could see it. But many admins I know of block for longer when the vandalism is sustained and as vile as the above example. Also, there really isn't a problem with getting a school IP banned, as if people want to edit they can just sign up for a new user account. Mr Which??? 20:30, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Repeated RFCU fishing expeditions arising from Waterboarding

What you've probably got there is a university professor who assigned this article as some sort of class project. That would explain the shared IP address (for a few editors), the editor who chose the name "PennState21," and Shibumi2's unexplained departure from his usual focus on Japanese Navy articles. I encourage you to discuss this in greater detail with Alison. I cannot believe that Shibumi2 was directly involved in sock puppetry. Maybe the correct explanation is that he innocently shares an IP address with PennState21 or Harry Lives (or both), they saw evidence of him editing Talk:Waterboarding, and they decided to get involved. This isn't just about a shared IP address. This is about editing pattern. Shibumi2 has been here for a year and never had a problem until the past five days. I restored the page, in accordance to our proposed deletion process. Proposed deletion is a simplified deletion process where a notice is put at the top of the article, if nobody removes the notice or objects to the deletion, the page is deleted. Since I'm taking your comments as an objection, I restored the page. My personal opinion is that the deletion reason is plausible (the article is orphaned).
