@42.200.57.41 Provide a source for these edits. This article cites no sources. Nythar (talk) 05:49, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
As far as the category was concerned that was purely an administrative task done according to what's already stated in the article. You may want to add the unsourced tag to the article if the article's being unsourced was your concern. No matter what there's no point to reinstate a wrong preposition. That's clearly unconstructive and vandalising. 42.200.57.41 (talk) 05:54, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
It is neither unconstructive nor vandalism. Reverting an unsourced edit is not edit warring. Edit warring is reverting three edits on one page. See WP:3RR. Also, after reverting my revert, please discuss it civilly on my talk page instead of replying with vandalism warnings. Nythar (talk) 07:10, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

IP editors and removing warnings from their talk pages

IP editors are absolutely allowed to remove warnings from the user talk page for their IP address. When they do so, it is generally taken that the editor has read and understood the message. WP:BLANKING covers this. Thanks. Ravensfire (talk) 20:23, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

@Ravensfire: I know users can blank their talk pages, but when persistent vandalism occurs and warnings are removed, I end up not knowing which warning to issue. Maybe I'm wrong here. Example, please? Nythar (talk) 21:40, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, I totally forgot to reply. Yes, that can be a challenge. Even using tools like RedWarn or Twinkle doesn't help as they only parse the page and don't get the history. My habit for IP editors when I think there's a persistent problem is to look at their contributions to get a feel for if it's a common problem. If they're on a dynamic IP, it's harder, but you start to recognize patterns, especially since they'll often edit the same article in the same way. I'll sometimes look at the Whois for the IP and see what the ASIN range it comes from and look for other edits. Of course, the coming privacy change will make that impossible. When I'm sure it's the same person, I just escalate the warnings, even if they blank them. After all, blanking is understood to mean they have read and understand the warnings, so escalations are appropriate. If it continues after a level 4, time for WP:AIV for vandalism or repeated unsourced edits or obvious disruptive edits, or WP:ANI for more complicated situations. Hope that helps some. Ravensfire (talk) 21:53, 18 May 2022 (UTC)

Kadoli state

Hi nythar, I’ve made some changes in the kadoli state page because I’m the member erstwhile ruling family of kadoli. I know the history and the administrator who created this page has provide a lot of misleading information. I have been trying to correct this, as I’m not very well aware of using this cannot cite references and even don’t know how to use it properly. Can you help me ?

How can I delete this page ?? I don’t want my family reputation to be misleading like this. Microcreator!99 (talk) 04:23, 1 June 2022 (UTC)

@Microcreator!99: The user who made the page Kadoli State, User:Arcarius, was blocked. Can you please explain what in this article is misleading? Thanks. Nythar (talk) 04:54, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
hi nythar, the published information here that the kadoli belongs to koli state is wrong. it is rajput state. another thing that is is ruled by makwana that is wrong. kadoli is ruled by jhala (and not makwana). we are basically a hindu community not a muslim. I tried to edit it by could not because i have no idea how wikepedia works.
my mail id is: microcreator31@gmail.com can you reply on that ? so that i can give some more information.
i really need help from a person who knows how to use the wikepedia.
i have created this account only for this specific page otherwise i have no interest in editing at all.
i hope you will help me with this. Microcreator!99 (talk) 05:23, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
@Microcreator!99: The article Makwana (clan) says, "The Makwana are a Hindu and Muslim community of Gujarat. They claim descent from the Jhala clan of Rajputs." Draft articles

Hello, Nythar,

You are a new but, apparently, very active editor. I'd like to ask you to give more leeway to articles created in Draft space. Please do not be eager to tag them for deletion unless there are major issues like copyright violations or BLP-violating content. Draft space is an area where we give editors, especially editors new to content creation, more space to create and develop articles as they learn about Wikipedia standards and policies. Issues that would cause a page in main space to be tagged for speedy deletion are tolerated in Draft space.

If you are doing page patrolling, it's much more important to find mistakes and errors in main space articles than examining drafts which are likely to have mistakes until they are receive AFC approval. It also can be very discouraging for new editors to try to create an article in Draft space only to find it tagged for deletion. Thank you for understanding. Liz Read! Talk! 02:57, 12 June 2022 (UTC)

@Liz: I apologize if I was inattentive, and thank you! Nythar (talk) 08:09, 12 June 2022 (UTC)

User talk warnings and undoing edits

Hi User:Nythar! Before putting a warning on a user talk page, try to check if it was your undo/rollback that got through. I undid an edit by the user AkshayKrishnang, but you were the one to put a warning on his talk page: User_talk:AkshayKrishnang. It's not a huge deal, but it can be confusing for the User getting warned. Thanks! --Kvoou (talk) 08:45, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

@Kvoou: Thanks. The anti-vandalism tool RedWarn is confusing sometimes. Nythar (talk) 08:48, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
No worries! I'm actually pretty new to this myself. I still have to wait for an autoconfirm until I can use RedWarn. Kvoou (talk) 08:51, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
@Kvoou: Great! And thanks for your contributions! Nythar (talk) 08:54, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

Removing thread from talk pages

To editor Nythar: You have removed threads from several talk pages. This goes against Wikipedia policies (see WP:TPO). I have restored some of them. Please stop, and self-revert the inappropriate deletions that I have omitted. D.Lazard (talk) 04:44, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

@D.Lazard: What "deletions" are you referring to? Those were archived. See Help:Archiving a talk page. And why are you returning threads from 2013? Nythar (talk) 07:06, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
To editor Nythar: In your edit summaries, there is no indication that these are moves, nor any indication on the new place of the threads that you have removed from the talk pages. In other words, what you did has exactly the same effect as a deletion, since an archive that cannot be consulted is not an archive. Also, it may exist wikilinks to the removed threads, and you action makes them deadlinks. Please, read Help:Archiving (plain and simple) and WP:ARCHIVE, and fix your edits accordingly. D.Lazard (talk) 07:49, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
@D.Lazard: One of my edit summaries on Talk:Point (geometry) says Removed 2 threads to Talk:Point_(geometry)/Archive 1. Also, what does "what you did has exactly the same effect as a deletion, since an archive that cannot be consulted is not an archive" mean? I added an archive box. Please clarify. Nythar (talk) 07:58, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

Inappropriate reply to the talk page:Shinzo Abe

Is this what you reply to? This is referring to the shooting of Shinzo Abe, as you did at Shooting of Shinzo Abe. This is what you replied to the section: @Migfab008: What, specifically are you referring to? That's not related to the talk page, Nythar. Migfab008 (talk) 07:12, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

@Migfab008: Please do not meaninglessly accuse others of "inappropriate replies". Also, what does "Please find the news website about Shinzo Abe was shot by the suspect" mean? Afterwards in a new section, you write "What time did Shinzo Abe was shot by the suspect?" Aren't these things in the article? Nythar (talk) 07:17, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Matthew hk. I noticed that you recently removed content from Talk:Luca Berardocco without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. We do not remove talk page discussion that way. Please learn how to archive thread instead of just delete them Matthew hk (talk) 00:40, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

@Matthew hk: These aren't "talk page discussions", they're automatic messages sent by User:InternetArchiveBot. Take a look at one of the messages you returned to Talk:Luca Berardocco. It says "Editors have permission to delete these "External links modified" talk page sections if they want to de-clutter talk pages, but see the RfC before doing mass systematic removals." If you see that RfC, apparently consensus is against automatic removal of these messages, but there is consensus that "the wording of the post is modified to give users permission to delete posts if they want to. Since talk page posts normally can't be deleted by other users, it would remove that restriction." So, please revert your revert. Thanks. Nythar (talk) 01:04, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
Anyway, mass removal as a new account ?! Matthew hk (talk) 12:19, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
@Matthew hk: "Mass removal as a new account", you say. Some of these talk pages are cluttered, such as Talk:List of Summer Olympics venues: O and Talk:7th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. What is it that I'm doing incorrectly? Nythar (talk) 20:01, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

Question on removing my edit at 2022 Russian Anti-Ukraine War Protests

Hello, Nyther. I understand that you are a much more experienced user in this project than I am (I had a few other accounts but none of them had 150+ edits) but i do seem to get why you marked my edit in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_anti-war_protests_in_Russia as non-neutral. I had written "(alleged by Russian Government)" and I don't think that is not neutral. I have seen this "(Alleged)" in many place including in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_the_Congo_Civil_War_(1997%E2%80%931999) so I assume I can do the same? Aren't I rather reporting on the other sides allegations rather than stating them as facts?--Gwoll (talk) 16:26, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

Should make claims, not vague and controlling allusions to policy

Slapping boilerplate while reverting an edit, claiming policy, but not saying anything about the policy in question, while "suggesting" someone else read policy, is the same basic problem we had here 20 years ago. In the same light, you cannot possibly contain the knowledge and time required to make factual discernments on a thousand or more edits per month, or logical discernments on a thousand or more edits a month. It's been a long, long time, but you can try to make progress on what most of us gave up on forever ago. The time committment is also a big mistake. You could be learning or doing something. Well, that's all I have to say this year on TOW. 98.59.122.103 (talk) 07:58, 3 August 2022 (UTC)

Politics

I noticed you are a newer user, and I doubt you have extensive experience in the politics realm of Wikipedia. Content in this area is, as I'm sure you know, very controversial. I haven't edited every realm of Wikipedia, but I'd imagine politics is objectively one of the worst areas to edit. There is no obvious right or wrong answer to many questions, and it's all about being being bold, and then discussing. About trying to reach a NPOV and a consensus. Content disputes (like the one at Walkers page) are a necessity at improving these articles. Such disputes often lead to article improvements. For the one at Walkers page, it led to a whole new section being opened and brand new content. Thats a good thing, don't you agree?

I'm not an agenda driven editor, and if I was, I'm not a particularly good one. If you took a look at my contributions you will see edits that, if looking through political lens, would be seen as "pro-liberal." And you'll see some that would be perceived as "pro-conservative." (I put them in parentheses because they shouldn't be perceived in such light) I noticed you said most of my contribs "involve the removal of sections about controversial topics from the articles of conservative politicians;" that is simply not true and I'm not sure where you've gotten that from. I've done much more than that. Discussions only become flaming and irritating when someone makes behavior accusations. I want you to go back at the Walker talk and just ignore every comment about my alleged misconduct and you'll see the dispute should have been resolved very quickly, with little notice. I will also tell you its considered inappropriate in guideline to discuss users in an article talk. Happy editing and glad to see a productive new user, Iamreallygoodatcheckerst@lk 01:08, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

@Iamreallygoodatcheckers: Look, I didn't accuse you of "misconduct" as you state above, I was simply informing you of your general behavior in terms of conducting major changes without consensus, which you often do. And, as I stated on that talk page, your first move was to delete the section on his views on abortion. And the dispute on that talk page didn't lead to a "whole new section being opened and brand new content", you removed the section and your edit was reverted. Also, I didn't label you as "pro-conservative", I informed you that was my perception of the general trend of your edits. And finally, why say "its considered inappropriate in guideline to discuss users in an article talk"? Was I "discussing you"? I was speaking directly to you. Anyway, I recommend you try also editing something other than politics because yes, it is quite stressful. Thanks. NytharT.C 02:17, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
Unfortunately, it's what I'm interested in. But your advice about avoiding the area is spot on. Have a nice night, Iamreallygoodatcheckerst@lk 02:20, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
@Iamreallygoodatcheckers: Thanks, you too. NytharT.C 02:28, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

@Iamreallygoodatcheckers: Oh, and something not relevant here, but I don't think you're specifically "pro-conservative" or "pro-liberal", and your replies on Talk:Mark_Dice are a good example of that. NytharT.C 03:16, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

@Johnpacklambert: I'm doing well, thanks. I think you're referring to the articles I proposed for deletion? Those fail notability criteria. I nominated a few to see how it goes. Have a great day. NytharT.C 13:04, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

The editor is topic banned from everything pertaining to deletion on Wikipedia, broadly construed. Your comment may be unintentional, but it looks like an attempt to encourage this editor to violate his topic ban. Please be cautious. Cullen328 (talk) 02:53, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

@Cullen328: Yes, no that's not what I was trying to do, I was just asking. Thanks. NytharT.C 03:05, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Your tone is uncivil. Ingratis (talk)
@Ingratis: Explain in detail how my tone is uncivil. You could also review wp:AGF to help you learn how to avoid wp:ABF misunderstandings. NytharT.C 07:55, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

No misunderstanding, at least on my part. You bit the previous editor for adding references mostly to Estonian online newspapers. They may have been a mixed bag but some are quite relevant, and they were clearly provided in good faith. Not necessary, not collegial, to bite for that. The incivility is not in your exact words but in your general tone. If you don't see it, I'm sure someone else will point it out to you more emphatically a bit further down the line. Ingratis (talk) 08:46, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

@Ingratis: Perhaps you felt it was uncivil to say "Two or three pages on random websites". I wasn't trying to bite Pelmeen10; apparently, this is why we say assume good faith. And as for the sources themselves, some are relevant, but the achievements of the article subject might fail wp:NSPORTS. Some contain passing mentions of him. NytharT.C 09:14, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

August 2022

Hi Nythar! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Vikings that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. TylerBurden (talk) 06:37, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

@TylerBurden: I deactivated this unnecessary warning (by removing the image). My edit was minor and changing "bore him" to "had" is less discriminatory. Either revert your revert, or we could take this to the article talk page. NytharT.C 06:48, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
No that is not a minor edit, it was neither vandalism nor a typo, just an unnecessary change of subjective wording. Refactoring my notice also seems like a bit of a grey area, you're certainly allowed to remove it, but refactoring other peoples talk page comments is generally a big no. I'm not going to revert, so it's up to you to gain consensus for the change to the long standing wording used on the article. TylerBurden (talk) 06:52, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
@TylerBurden: Have you read wp:DTTR? It isn't a guideline, but it's more respectful. I removed the image so that if someone reverts one of my edits, they don't see "Level 1 warning this month". And my edit summary was "ce", short for wp:copyedit. I also seem to be getting some revert notifications... NytharT.C 07:02, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
You can consider yourself the pope and I would still template you, espescially when you don't seem to understand what minor edits on Wikipedia actually are. Templates aren't a personal attack, they're a collecction of useful information easily conveying the message instead of writing it handwritten each time someone misuses minor edits (happens all the time). From what I can see, you have been here for three months, you can still learn from templates so I wouldn't take it as such an ego hit. I have reverted you on two other articles where you did exactly the same change. TylerBurden (talk) 07:07, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
@TylerBurden: Apparently you haven't read wp:DTTR. Anyway, "minor edits" isn't the point, you just seem to disagree with changing "bore him" to "had". You appear to have also reverted my edits to Canute IV of Denmark and Nór. This might escalate it beyond an article talk page, perhaps to wp:MOS. NytharT.C 07:20, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
I'm not sure I would define you as a regular, and like I said giving people preferential treatment isn't the way I operate when they make basic mistakes. Minor edits is exactly the point, that is what my notice is about, your insistence on changing ″discriminatory″ language is better fit for the article talk pages. You not acknowlodging your objective misuse of minor edits is somewhat concerning, normal thing to do in this case would be to read the minor edit page and say ″got it″. TylerBurden (talk) 07:25, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
But TylerBurden, "minor edits" isn't the point of this. I'm talking about the contents of my edit. I changed the language because "bore him" makes it sound like "he" is so important, and "she" did this for "him". I feel this is somewhat discriminatory and can be fixed to "she had" a child, or something like that. I don't know why you reverted this, what do you have against it? (I'm more concerned about what you removed rather than a small "m" next to my edit.) NytharT.C 07:42, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
I would like to say I appreciate that you are being respectful and staying cool despite the disagreement, but my reason for coming to your talk page was about the misuse of minor edits. In terms of the content itself, I do not feel super strongly about it, but I don't think the wording is discriminatory, so it seemed like a needless change to me and that's why I reverted it. I can see where you are coming from, but ultimately I don't think "bore him" is something that needs to be changed, espescially not in these medieval contexts where unfortunately like you mentioned, that is how it worked. It would be another thing if these edits were about modern people, I would not oppose this change of wording as it would be inappropriate to use such wording with modern people in clearly equal relationships. TylerBurden (talk) 07:50, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

@TylerBurden: I see what you're trying to say. Still, though, this involves us referring to people of the past, not those of 1,000 years ago referring to their own people. If it was more common back then to use sexist terminology, we don't have to do it the same way they did it. (If you still disagree, I might take it to WP:MOS and perhaps start an RfC there). NytharT.C 08:09, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Like I said I don't feel very strongly about it, I think our time is better spent elsewhere than debating this ultimately miniscule content. You've presented your reasons well enough and I see your point, while I still wouldn't change it myself I'm not going to stop you from doing so, so I'll restore your wording or alter it to be more similar to it and not sound as sexist. TylerBurden (talk) 08:16, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
@TylerBurden: Glad to see that's solved. NytharT.C 08:31, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

de-PRODs

To let you know that I've de-PRODded c22 of your PROD nominations, all of non-medalling Olympic competitors. This is because Olympians usually require abnormal quantities of BEFORE in the press and other resources of their own countries, which can be extremely time-consuming, not to mention usually in a foreign language, so more appropriate to be referred to AfD in the hope of attracting the attention of editors with the necessary language and research skills (and the time, of course). There's also the question of whether at the moment, until the many discussions about sports and mass deletion are concluded, Olympian stubs may be too controversial for PRODding. Database sources

Hi Nythar. I saw your comment here re database sources ("Most of the articles listed above have database or unreliable sources"). Besides this (related to science topics). Do you know of other broader restrictions on the applicability/ application of databases as sources for general purposes? We have for quite some time been having an uphill battle over sources on the Portuguese wiki and I am slowly putting together information to present something on this when I find the time. I would be keen to include somthing on databases. any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 11:03, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

@Rui Gabriel Correia: Hello, and thanks for asking. Some database sources are reliable and can be used in articles. The meaning of my statement on that deletion discussion was that database sources might not on their own satisfy notability criteria. Those cigar brands seemed to fail WP:NPRODUCT, which states in its primary criteria, WP:ORGCRIT, "Examples of trivial coverage that do not count toward meeting the significant coverage requirement:...inclusion in collections that have indiscriminate inclusion criteria...such as databases". Hello, I am new to Wikipedia, and as working on an article for an artist I manage. It seems you have deleted it. It was not finished, and it would have been nice to get a heads up on what we can fix rather than just deleting it entirely. Not a great welcoming....we are consulting with our mentor to see what we can do to get the article back up, but if you have feedback, kindly at least let us know first. Iamlielac (talk) 06:57, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

I am new to Wikipedia, and trying to create a page for an artist I manage who already has several notable publications. Admittedly, we are all new to this, and less than an hour after doing a rough draft it was deleted. If that's the way things work here, we can't argue it. However, it would have been nice to receive some sort of chance to fix it before it was just deleted. If anyone can point us in the direction of what we could have done differently that would be awesome. We have been assigned a mentor, but it doesn't appear that they have been active for a good minute, and we were not able to content this decision. It's just pretty discouraging as no misinformation was provided. I am not self promoting as I am not the artist. We are just looking for some guidance. Thanks! Iamlielac (talk) 07:01, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

@Iamlielac: I did not delete your userpage, an admin deleted after I nominated it for deletion. Try writing article in draftspace instead of in your userspace. Also, please disclose your affiliation with article subjects on your userpage in compliance with our Paid-contribution disclosure policy. Thank you. NytharT.C 07:05, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

My apologies, you were right to take the steps you did. I did not do the proper research, and that is my fault. Thank you for educating me! Iamlielac (talk) 07:09, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

ANI

Hello, Nythar,

Please be judicious when you close discussions on ANI, make sure they have come to a natural end and don't just reflect your opinion that a discussion should be over. And along with your signature, you need to add {{nac}} (which will post (non-admin closure)). It's important to editors who are infrequent visitors to noticeboards to be able to see whether a discussion has been closed by an admin or a regular editor. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 03:09, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

Liz, the OP literally deleted the entire thread they started. I reverted their edit and simply closed it -- I mean, I could have just left it deleted, but for the sake of record-keeping, I thought it was wiser to have it archived. I also saw no reason to keep the thread open; the OP received mostly negative reactions to their thread from other users, and they wanted to withdraw their complaint. If I had left the discussion open, more users would comment, even though the one complaining no longer wishes to keep the section active. Regards, — Nythar (💬-❄️) 03:56, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

Sup. Would it be possible to delay the SPA tagging for later in the discussion, when things may have settled down - or at least to do it in batches, or even to skip it for obvious cases? Right now it clogs up the page history and is usually redundant to simply observing the tone of the comment. Enterprisey (talk!) 22:58, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

I'm fine with that. I suppose it would be easier. Cheers, — Nythar (💬-❄️) 23:01, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Deletion Discussion for Twitter Files Investigation

I'm sorry; I guess I put my ideas into words too strongly; I am new at this kind of discussions and knowing Twitter folks well, maybe assumed things I should not have assumed for Wikipedia editors Mstf221 (talk) 14:35, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

Canvassing

I'm curious what your justification for adding a "possible off wiki canvassing" tag is? Do you have information that others don't have? Am I missing something? It's this diff [1] Nweil (talk) 06:03, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

Nweil, the user I tagged (TZaddo) created their account for the sole purpose of voting in that AfD. See here. I could have added a "single-purpose account" tag, but I thought it could also be considered off-wiki canvassing (editors arriving at the AfD after hearing about it from someplace else, such as from this tweet). — Nythar (💬-❄️) 06:08, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Hearing about it from twitter is not the same as being canvassed, correct? Canvassed is when you have been emailed or contacted in some way by an editor and implored to join a discussion you wouldn't already join. You're not alleging that happened in this case? Nweil (talk) 06:11, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Also, you're making assumptions about the mindset of TZaddo. You don't know for sure why they created an account. As noted in WP:SPA "Labeling a new account as an SPA after very few edits may be construed as biting the newcomers." Nweil (talk) 06:17, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Nweil, to answer your first point, I didn't say I have some form of evidence (email or something like that) of canvassing, but that template is the best one I have. An editor here asked me to not use that SPA template so often because it "assumes bad faith in the editor". To answer your second point: it is not "biting the newcomers". This is a genuine concern. I don't need to know their mindset; I can just take a look at their behavior. — Nythar (💬-❄️) 06:23, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
"That template is the best one I have" comes from the assumption that it needs a template. Perhaps since none apply, you simply should not apply a template. Nweil (talk) 06:28, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Nweil, that is incorrect. I could change the template to "single-purpose account" if you're interested. — Nythar (💬-❄️) 06:30, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Do we agree that no canvassing occurred? Nweil (talk) 06:32, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Nweil, not necessarily. If I can't "make assumptions about the mindset of TZaddo", then how can I agree that something which could have happened, didn't happen? I added that tag because most of these editors probably heard of this from social media (as usually happens with AfDs), and I considered this "off-wiki canvassing", although not the type of emails. Now answer my question, please. — Nythar (💬-❄️) 06:39, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Your views on canvassing put you at odds with other established editors, for example Andre who states "writing about Wikipedia on an external site is not against policy" here and that posts off wiki do not constitute recruiting. If he wants to weigh in here, it would be welcomed. Is this canvassing/recruiting or not. Nweil (talk) 06:56, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Nweil, will you answer my question? If not, please stop commenting. — Nythar (💬-❄️) 06:57, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
You added a canvassing tag. I have issue with that. That is the subject of this discussion. I struck my comment about SPA. Whether you add an SPA tag is up to you and we can discuss that when and if it happens. Nweil (talk) 07:06, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
┌──────────────────────────────┘
Nweil, recently there was an RfC at Talk:Iroquois, where there was off-wiki canvassing, apparently at Reddit (I think). How can I know if the same thing isn't happening right now? Now, since that account is, by definition, and SPA (regardless of being "new"), I will ask you again, do you want the canvassing tag replaced? — Nythar (💬-❄️) 07:14, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
@Nweil, if you look at the context for what I wrote back in September I was referring to an article that was written about Wikipedia in general, without any offwiki coordination and not to influence a discussion or process, and not canvassing. It was not an attempt to advertise an AFD on a site like reddit to solicit sympathetic commenters, usually with few or no edits or background, to weigh in, which would be WP:CANVASS. Andre🚐 15:23, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
@Andre Your words were "It wouldn't be 'meatpuppetry recruiting' even if I wrote a huge front-page article on Fox News saying "EDITORS PLEASE GO TO WIKIPEDIA NOW AND DELETE THE RECESSION ARTICLE!" That would be advertising an AFD to potentially sympathetic commenters. What is the distinction you are making? Nweil (talk) 17:17, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, because "meatpuppetry recruiting" isn't a thing and in that scenario, there is no chance that the recession article would be deleted or AFD'd, it wasn't listed at AFD at all, and it's not at risk of being deleted at all. There's a difference between advertising a discussion to try to influence the outcome by bringing in new users, and writing an article that advertises Wikipedia in general or calls for editing on Wikipedia in general. The Fox News example is a little bit of a reductio ad absurdum, but you shouldn't interpret that as an endorsement of canvassing. Andre🚐 18:24, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
"Meatpuppetry recruiting" is synonymous with canvassing, I just think my phrasing is much more colorful and memorable. You're not making sense. If someone posted "EDITORS PLEASE GO TO WIKIPEDIA NOW AND DELETE THE RECESSION ARTICLE!" on the Fox news website and an AFD was started, you would absolutely call the new users who arrived there meat puppets and say they were canvassed. Nweil (talk) 18:31, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
OK, but in this hypothetical scenario, the recession article was not at AFD. Andre🚐 19:20, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

Yeah? Why don't you test it -

- no one at my job can use it on android. It used to work, like 3 weeks ago it got too slow to use for work purposes. It takes 4-5 minutes to type out your login. Just my business, then? I've reported to alice over a dozen times and since there are no android reviews on app store, I thought it would be best to correct the record so no more businesses fall victim to this predatory lie. This app costs thousands. If it doesn't work for half your staff, that's false advertising. You work for alice? Did you test it on android? Rollback granted

Hi Nythar. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Infoboxes

I just want to give you a heads up before you burn up too much time arguing with the anti-infobox crowd. I've been following RfCs for the past six months and a few infoboxes came up around the same time. It's always the same 5-10 editors opposing every infobox. Most of the RfCs have ended in inclusion, but there have been exceptions.

Those adamantly opposed are typically good editors who for whatever reason are passionately opposed to infoboxes on biographies. When I first encountered this topic I attempted to discuss it but found out they had been beating this horse for over a decade. I was hopefully this would quit clogging up RfCs, but until they drop the stick this is going to be the pattern. The only way to get past this blockade is to promote it at WP:VPR because the community generally favors infoboxes for longer articles. Nemov (talk) 12:29, 29 April 2023 (UTC)

Bot posts

Why are you removing the bot posts from articles? Govvy (talk) 07:48, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Hello Govvy. Thanks for asking. As you can see in this discussion I started at the Village Pump last month, those posts can be removed from any talk page. I am removing them partly as a test (to see how "removable" they really are) and to declutter talk pages. Nythar (💬-🍀) 07:54, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
I actually feel the bot posts useful information on what it did to the article. In some regards, you effectively removing a log from the talk page generated by the bot. I feel it's nice to know what has been done, so you're have to forgive me for saying removing these old posts I might find a little irksome. Govvy (talk) 08:27, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
@Govvy: Let me tell you why they're not useful. Those comments used to be posted during a time when editors weren't sure exactly how accurate the bot was. Nowadays we use this tool to add archives, and posts are no longer generated by the InternetArchiveBot because it was determined that they were not useful or helpful. The bot can actually make changes and add archives when it is told to do so, yet posts are no longer generated. Nythar (💬-🍀) 08:34, 11 May 2023 (UTC)
Hi Nythar, on at least one occasion, your script-assisted removal (I assume it's script-assisted?) of these bot messages also removed a required merge attribution template. Just wanted to let you know before you full-deploy this. Axem Titanium (talk) 15:41, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
@Axem Titanium: The banner was moved automatically by AWB a little lower, not removed entirely. (I'll add that I am not using a script to make these changes.) Cheers, Nythar (💬-🍀) 15:48, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
Ah don't know how I missed that. Weird that AWB likes to move things around. Axem Titanium (talk) 16:03, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
I've been doing the same thing as Nythar - removing the bot posts when I come across them while browsing, but not actively hunting them out. That is consistent with the direction given when the bot stopped making the posts. I think they're just clutter; most are over six years old, at least, and no longer current. Administrators' newsletter – June 2023

News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
  • As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.

Technical news

  • Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.

Question from Seahorse17a (17:46, 5 June 2023)

Hello, I´m a new user of the English version of Wikipedia. On 3rd june I tried to erase a section concerning ethnicity of a Ragusan historical personality, Ignjat Đurđević, because of the questionable validity of the sources that are present in the references. Most of them are Serbian and one of them ( "Kako je hrvatstvo na silu ušlo u Dubrovnik". Intermagazin.rs.) is offensive to say the least, where a journalist, Ratko Dmitrović, that is a prominent member of Serbian nationalists ( Chetnik movement ) questions Dubrovnik´s belonging to the Croatian state ( today ) and cultural framework ( in history ). I apologise in advance for such long text. I want to know what can I do to get rid of that section and not to get blocked or banned from Wikipedia? --Seahorse17a (talk) 17:46, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

You're probably not aware of this, but the topic area of Macedonian ethnicity, Croatian ethnicity, Serbian ethnicity, etc., is somewhat contentious. From what I am seeing, there's no evidence that Ratko Dmitrović's works are biased, so removing that section entirely is not likely to be accepted by other editors. You're still welcome to discuss this issue at Talk:Ignjat Đurđević with the two users who reverted your edits, although I'm not sure that will be successful. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 18:05, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

Lots of work

What you reverted is days of work I spent cleaning up and rewriting these articles to meet encyclopedic standard, not just removing unsourced information. Having reverted also multiple other users' edits and taken a burden, you need to find source for removed information. I may restore the latest version after 4 days or so if source are not found. Leaving unsourced content there is worse than the articles having less content, and this is directly against the policy. Brlob (talk) 00:37, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

Reverting those edits was the only way to bring back the old content (you can't bring back very old revisions easily). And no, you may not remove unsourced information (see WP:Preserve). Add a [citation needed] tag and copyedit the language of articles, but don't remove content just because it is unsourced. Nythar (💬-🍀) 00:40, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
WP:PRESERVE says that "As long as any of the facts or ideas added to an article would belong in the "finished" article, they should be retained if they meet the three core content policies: Neutral point of view (which does not mean no point of view), Verifiability, and No original research." In which the Verifiability aspect is not met. Brlob (talk) 00:52, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
WP:PRESERVE also states "Instead of removing content from an article [...] consider [...] Tagging it as necessary". In addition, WP:V states "In some cases, editors may object if you remove material without giving them time to provide references. Consider adding a citation needed tag as an interim step." Nowhere does any policy state that all unsourced content must be removed and, as an interim step (with no minimum amount of time specified), unsourced content may be kept. Multiple editors have disagreed with your section blanking, and this indicates you should stop doing so. Usually the only instances where mass unsourced content removal is permitted involves the removal of potentially defamatory content from biographies of living persons, per WP:V "Do not leave unsourced or poorly sourced material in an article if it might damage the reputation of living people". Please instead edit another topic, perhaps over at the Task Center if you're interested. Nythar (💬-🍀) 01:05, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
There needs to be a time period set for unsourced content to stay. Unsourced content can't stay for long because that made articles unencyclopedic. The policy said to give time for objectors to find source, so you have the onus to find source. I don't have the right to remove it outrightly but the right to remove it after a period. You need to give a time set period to find source yourself. Brlob (talk) 01:15, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
The policy does not say "to give time for objectors to find source"; there's no minimum time limit. There have been discussions about this since the start of Wikipedia, more than 20 years ago. I'm not interested in continuing this thread; maybe you could find sources instead of blanking tens of thousands of bytes' worth of content. Nythar (💬-🍀) 01:19, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
@Nythar: You reverted the edits so you need to find way or engage in settling the dispute. You can raise question about this at the dispute resolution board. I'm sure there is a deadline so that this can be settled, there is no way unsourced information is allowed to remain forever. Brlob (talk) 03:08, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
Dispute resolution noticeboard? I don't think that's relevant? This whole thing isn't a dispute over content; this is multiple editors asking you to not blank massive amounts of unsourced or partially sourced content. This also isn't specific to any article; you seem to think that unsourced content generally shouldn't exist anywhere. What you're asking for involves a change in guidelines/policy; you can try the Village Pump Idea Lab, a place where proposals are first discussed. Nythar (💬-🍀) 03:11, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
We still don't seem to interpret the Verifiability policy correctly, can you explain under what case can unsourced content stay and for how long? Brlob (talk) 06:17, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
There's no time limit. And unsourced content can stay indefinitely, unless the content exists in a biography of a living person and is potentially defamatory. I understand the wording of WP:V might be vague, but it was probably written that way purposefully so that editors wouldn't be limited to interpreting it in one specific way. To put it simply, the Wikipedia community generally agrees that it is more unconstructive to remove unsourced or partially sourced content than it is to leave said content unsourced. Nythar (💬-🍀) 06:26, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
Brlob, you don't give other editors deadlines like this. That's not how we do things. Go to the article's talk page and get consensus for the changes you want to make. —A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 01:50, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
I will use the dispute resolution request to settle the issue because this is for multiple pages, not one page. You may get involved. Brlob (talk) 03:02, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

@FuzzyMagma, Nythar, A. B. I opened a discussion about the policy in here. May you took part in. Brlob (talk) 06:48, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

@Brlob What you reverted is days of work I spent cleaning up! Have you written an article before? It takes way more time
Most of what you removed is correct and can found in the references sometime in the bottom of the page. I spent yesterday going through your removal of “trivia”, as you called it, it’s not trivia. And tbh, my ultimate worry, is you targeted specific pages. Why don’t you try your magic on Arizona (the 1st sentence in the history section is unsourced, go remove it) or Ohio many tags there already passed your 3 days ultimatum FuzzyMagma (talk) 07:24, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
@Nythar This user seems to be a sock and targets African countries. There is a discussion on Sockpuppet page here filed by an editor who did not even involve in this chat. Brlob resembles User:RCB88 who also edited exactly same as Brlob, including same pages such as Sudan, Sierra Leone, etc. See User: RCB88's editing pattern here and was blocked for removing contents in pages. Editing from Sudan

First off the pew research center estimates for religion for Sudan are definitely inaccurate. Multiple sources such as Minority rights group estimates that 97% of Sudan's population is Sunni Muslim and that Christians only make up 1% of the population. There are no significant communities of Armenians in Sudan so they aren't native to Sudan. The Nubians are one of the indigenous ethnic groups in the country and Armenians aren't. I know this because I am from Sudan myself. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 17:30, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

@Cookiemonster1618: An editor recently blanked large sections of the article Sudan, and I brought those sections back. I'm not sure what else I brought back; in the meantime, please edit only parts of the article and don't blank large sections. Nythar (💬-🍀) 20:58, 7 June 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I just wanted to say that I noticed you around and our somewhat similar signature. Clover is awesome, it's great to see more of it! Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 21:00, 13 June 2023 (UTC)

Question from Superpoot1 (21:34, 18 June 2023)

Hi!

How do I create a page for a person? --Superpoot1 (talk) 21:34, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

@Superpoot1: Follow the instructions here: Help:Your first article. You'll need to find reliable sources that prove the subject you're writing about is notable. Make sure the article you write is neutral in tone. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 23:42, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

Please note...

That today I noticed that the Bad copy-editing IP is using another IP series. 45.53.118.135 started editing on 20 June, so we should expect to find them working in this range as well. Best, Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:02, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

But I see that you already knew that. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:04, 22 June 2023 (UTC)
@Beyond My Ken: I've been tracking this IP for a while now, and I noticed that they edit from three ranges: 50.48.0.0/16, 50.49.0.0/16, and the range you mentioned, 45.53.0.0/16. Interestingly, their earliest edit seems to be this one from 2 June 2018. Keep me updated if you find more ranges. Nythar (💬-🍀) 10:33, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
Will do. Beyond My Ken (talk) 14:29, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

Lowercase names

Why does bell hooks get a lowercase name but not debbie tucker green? ArturDaniel (talk) 23:51, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

@ArturDaniel: Now that you've told me, I've uncapitalized her name again. This edit did not include an edit summary and conflicted with the page's title, which caused me to mistake it as a non-constructive edit. Nythar (💬-🍀) 23:58, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
I see. And is there any way to uncapitalize the second and last name on the page's title? The lowercase title template seems to only lowercase the first letter of a title, even though somehow the bell hooks page has both lowercased. ArturDaniel (talk) 00:34, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
@ArturDaniel: According to Template:Lowercase title, "the markup will only decapitalize the first letter of the page's name in the title at the beginning of the page." The problem is, MediaWiki software doesn't allow us to make the first letter of an article's title uncapitalized. I managed to bypass that by moving the page to "Debbie tucker green", and that template serves to uncapitalize "debbie", so I think that's solved. Nythar (💬-🍀) 00:43, 24 June 2023 (UTC)

Categories

Hello, Nythar,

Is there a reason why you are emptying out categories like Category:Towns and villages in Meshgin Shahr County? We call this "emptying categories out of process" and is highly discouraged. If you believe a category should be deleted, merged or renamed, please make a proposal at Categories for Discussion so that other editors can weigh in on this move. Categories exist in a hierarchy and what affects one category can impact others. Please go to CFD in the future or for other categories like this you might want to "emtpy" instead of just removing all of the contents of a category. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:20, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

Hi Liz. I've been cleaning up unnecessary categories in Iranian village articles recently when I noticed Category:Towns and villages in Iran by county. Apparently, a user in 2020 decided to create several "Towns and villages" categories. The first problem is that many of these categories are unnecessary (e.g., all the articles in Category:Populated places in Qorveh County were moved to Category:Towns and villages in Qorveh County‎). The other problem is that the user in question, Saayeeh, created only 33 such categories, which has made larger categories appear confusing since their subcategories lack consistency; they didn't implement their categorization system across the rest of Iranian city articles. Anyway, I'll take the rest of the categories to CfD soon. Thanks. Nythar (💬-🍀) 01:31, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Thank you. The thing with CFD is that even though the process can be a little slow, the CFD bot can remove all of the pages from these 33 categories so you don't have to spend your time doing this tedious task. Liz Read! Talk! 04:31, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

Hi I joined so I could add My Father Councilmember / Mayor to the pages of Wiki --RoseMDuran (talk) 06:01, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, RoseMDuran. To start an article, please review Help:Your first article, and then use the article wizard to start a draft. Make sure that the article's subject is supported by reliable sources and is written neutrally. After you're finished writing the draft, submit it for review, and an editor will review it to see if it's appropriate for Wikipedia. Since the subject is your father, you should disclose this conflict of interest on your user page. For information on how to do that, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI. Let me know if you have any other questions. Nythar (💬-🍀) 08:04, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello This is my first contribution. I’m not sure how I can add someone’s career and education information. --LPies (talk) 21:44, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

Insert the URL of the source between <ref></ref> tags, and add that to the end of a sentence or paragraph. Nythar (💬-🍀) 22:05, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

Yet another notification reminder

Please remember to notify article creators when you are nominating articles for deletion. Jack4576 (talk) 12:30, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

Although in most cases it is considered best practice to notify editors of deletion discussions on articles they created, there is no such policy requirement. The only notifications that're required are noticeboard discussion notifications, and I notified you when I reported you for edit warring in the past. I have reasons for not notifying you for AfDs.
Firstly, you are topic banned from AfDs, meaning you cannot and should not engage in deletion discussions or attempt to interfere in their outcomes. Secondly, you've attempted to interfere with AfDs in the past; a short while after a deletion discussion was started, for example, you'd create a source assessment table at that article's talk page to try to prove that the nomination is incorrect. While not major interferences, you should still stay away from AfDs. The point of an AfD topic ban is that you cannot engage in the AfD process, regardless of how much you believe an article is notable; Huggums537 has told you that even minor interferences can be interpreted as violations of a topic ban, so you're aware of this. Thirdly, your responses to AfD notifications sometimes contain personal attacks. When WWGB notified you of a deletion discussion, you labeled their opinion of a source as "sexist", and when I told you to not do so, you responded at your talk page, reaffirming your unfounded attack. Most of your other responses to AfD notifications are unpleasant, such as telling an editor, "Give me a break. I'm really tired of this nonsense."
These are all more than enough reasons for me to decline to notify you for AfDs. In addition to all this, you always seem to be aware of deletion discussions regardless of whether you've been notified, so you have no real need anyway. Nythar (💬-🍀) 14:49, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
You should notify me because it allows me an opportunity to address an article’s drafting to comply with requirements
Sometimes I take articles off my watchlist. I see the ones that are still on my watchlist, (hence am usually aware) but you should be notifying me as a courtesy regarding articles I have authored. It denies other editors the opportunity to bring articles to an encyclopaedic state. It is best practice for a good reason
Regarding source evaluation tables, adding one to an article’s talk page is a fair thing to do regardless of whether or not an article has been AfD nominated. I made no reference to the AfD discussion that was ongoing when I wrote that table
I remind you that my t-ban does not include ‘deletion’ generally, nor does it include ‘notability’ or ‘policy’ generally, and I am free to write about those topics outside of the context of AfD
Regarding my comment ‘give me a break’, it is absolutely fair enough for me to complain when a nominator ignores WP:AUD consensus. This was in no way a personal attack, merely a personal note of frustration. Some editors are refusing to comply with an extremely clear policy consensus that National and statewide news publications are not to be treated as ‘local’ sources per that policy
Anyway, if you notify me in future I promise I won’t give you an unpleasant reply; if that’s the reason you’re not doing so. And if i’ve given you a bad impression in the past I apologise for having done so. Please notify me in future. It’s good practice and allows me to make articles more encyclopaedic Jack4576 (talk) 15:31, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
How about this: I'll notify you if you don't respond to my notifications at all. Is that okay with you? A notification with the sole purpose of being a notification. I won't be worried about notifying you in that case. Nythar (💬-🍀) 15:37, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
fair enough, I’m happy to make that compromise Jack4576 (talk) 15:42, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

I wish to put my biography on wikipedia. Is it possible and if yes how I can proceed? --Drskagarwalnephro (talk) 07:50, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

Question from Mr.basak (11:41, 10 August 2023)

Hello Nythar, It is an honor to be able to connect with you. I have a question there is an Artist i came to know about but while searching I found a person but was not the same. The name is Jonny Briggs.

Mine is an artist https://jonnybriggs.com And the wikipedia profile Jonny Briggs is an actor. I was wondering can I add this artist profile?

Your guidance and suggestion would help me a lot. --Mr.basak (talk) 11:41, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

@Mr.basak: It depends on his specific profession. The article would be titled "Jonny Briggs (<profession>, born 0000)", which would include the artist's DOB and profession. You could create this as a draft and then submit it for review. Nythar (💬-🍀) 00:38, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
Thank you, i will do that. And will inform you. Mr.basak (talk) 16:16, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

Question from PortLairge64 (21:50, 18 August 2023)

Hi there, I submitted an article for review. The article was about a football club in Ireland which I was doing with the knowledge and support of the club. I went on extended summer vacation and now that I have returned I see that I received feedback that the article text violates copyright and it has now been deleted. I put weeks of work into that article. Happy to make changes but I can no longer access it. Is there a way of getting the page back? Thank you. --PortLairge64 (talk) 21:50, 18 August 2023 (UTC)

@PortLairge64: You can ask the deleting administrator Nthep. However, if it was copyright infringement, it won't be undeleted. I'm not sure how such cases are normally dealt with. Perhaps they might send it to you via email? Ask Nthep. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 09:52, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

If I remove one sentence from a page, because it doesn't support any citation (which I could not find on the web,) would that be enough to make it a major edit? --Richerd1367 (talk) 16:18, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

@Richerd1367: Yes, it would be a major edit. Edits that are considered minor usually involve punctuation and such. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 00:05, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Question from AtlanticCurler (21:49, 24 August 2023)

In WikiProjects, articles have a rating and importance. Is that something I need to determine myself as the author or is that done automatically by a bot? --AtlanticCurler (talk) 21:49, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

@AtlanticCurler: Article assessment is most often not done by bots, and the author of an article is not required to assess it either. If you choose to assess articles you author, remember to use the relevant criteria for class and importance. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 10:25, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
