You mentioned that you are annoyed by CAPTCHA (I suppose that's what you meant) and I've given your new account extended confirmed status. That should remove the CAPTCHA requirements. Hope this does the trick. Schwede66 21:19, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Carl Moresco requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your contributed article, Danish Constituant Assembly

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Danish Constituant Assembly. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – 1848 Danish Constituent Assembly election. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at 1848 Danish Constituent Assembly election. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Cabayi (talk) 14:24, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Carl Neergaard

[edit]

Hi Ramblersen2, I can see that you have been putting a lot of work in to Carl Neergaard(s). I have changed the page Carl Neergaard to a redirect to Carl Neergaard (1800–1850), perhaps temporarily. Disambiguation pages are supposed to be a navigation guide to existing content, so red links with no associated blue-linked article are of no use to the reader (see MOS:DABRED). I couldn't find any blue links for the other Carls - Navigation School, Copenhagen never mentions Carl Neergaard. If you create articles for the other Carls, or add information about them to existing articles, then it would be appropriate to change Carl Neergaard back to a disambiguation page. Niverød Brickworks moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Niverød Brickworks, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. GirthSummit (blether) 04:03, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I wanted to give you a bit more explanation for why I draftified this. I looked at the source in the article, and it doesn't support much of the information in the article. Also, with only a passing mention in a single source, the subject would not pass the notability guidelines at WP:GNG. It would be great if you could find some more reliable sourcing to support the assertions in this article, and to demonstrate the subject's notability. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 04:11, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Girth Summit: I based the article/stub on the article/stub on Danish Wikipedia as well as a bit of information from the related article on Lerbjerggaard Teglværk. I know that doesn't qualify as sources but I actually thaught that this approach was okay for stubs and would normally only result in a "more citations needed" or "multiple issues" tag? Wikipedia is at least full of stubs like that that aren't deleted. Either way, you are of course right that more references are needed and I will try to see what I can dig up. The article on Danish Wikipedia does not list any references either but I'm trying to find out where the information comes from (the creator has unfortunately not been active since January). The one reference I added was for the small piece of information that wasn't from the Danish Wikipedia article.Ramblersen2 (talk) 13:52, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'll try to explain a bit more. I volunteer as part of the new pages patrol team. When a new article is created, it enters a queue for reviewers to look at. We check a few different things before marking the article as 'patrolled' - it needs to be in English, it needs enough content to identify the subject, it can't have any copyright violations, it can't be an 'attack page' - and also the subject needs to be notable. The article doesn't need to be extensively sourced, but the reviewer needs to be satisfied that the subject would meet one of the various notability criteria - the most basic one being WP:GNG, which essentially calls for the subject to be given significant coverage in at least two independent, reliable, secondary sources. When I come across a page such as your one, once I've checked it for copyvio etc., I next search for sources using Google - if I can find more sources, I usually add them to the article, but some reviewers (the extra-lazy ones!) just tag the article and move on, which is permitted - at least we know that the sources exist, and therefore the subject is notable, and hopefully someone will improve the tagged article at a later date. When I searched for the subject of your article however, I got no hits at all except for other Wikipedia pages - therefore, I could not establish the notability of the subject. That gives me a couple of options - I can nominate it for deletion either via WP:CSD, WP:PROD or WP:AfD, or I can 'draftify' it in the hope that the author can identify more sources. In your case, since the actual content was good, and I thought there might be offline sources (or indeed Danish-language sources that my searches were failing to find), I thought draftifying would be better than deletion. I hope that makes sense?
If you're interested in the decision-making process we go through when reviewing a page, you can see a flowchart at WP:NPP - hopefully you can see how I reached the draftify decision in this case, but I can walk you through it if you can't. If you can find a couple of Danish sources that give the subject significant coverage, I'd be happy to move the article back into article space and mark it as patrolled - just give me a ping and let me know you've done it. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 15:47, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Pharmacies in Denmark requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Danish Asia Company

[edit]

Hej Ramblersen I have just been looking at Danish Asia Company and notice the references in the Danish Wiki article have not transferred. I can work through the list of ships and give references to Orlogmuseet database where available, but it might be better to pull your references to Klem through to the English article. Hi Ramblerson More from me I'm afraid! Do you have access to the book that appears to be the source for the list of ships viz

  • Knud Klem: Skibsbyggeriet i Danmark og Hertugdømmerne i 1700-årene; Bind I, København 1985; ISBN 87-88646-14-9 to confirm the listed references in the Danish version of this article.

The pdf article by Klem that does have a link does not have any ships listed, but looks a good 30-page article to study.
I came across a list of ships on-line this morning, but realised (and an administrator has pointed out) that it was a circular reference so not useable.
I suggest this discussion will better sit on the talk page of the English wikiarticle Danish Asia Company. Once on firmer ground, I have some material to give more details on these ships.

@Kuru: Thanks for the revert on this reference to Danish Asia Company. Any advice/help welcome Viking1808 (talk) 12:51, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Non-existent categories

[edit]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Victor Bendix, please make sure that the category page actually exists. In some cases, it may be appropriate to create a new category in accordance with Wikipedia's categorization guidelines, but it is usually better to use the most specific available existing category. It is never appropriate to leave a page categorised in a non-existent category, i.e. one whose link displays in red. You may find it helpful to use the gadget HotCat, which tests whether a category exists before saving a change. Thank you. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 09:08, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it. Also read the following regarding writing an article:

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews. Here we get a lengthy list of there stores, but little to show notability such as number of employees, profit or turnover. Otherwise there's just a bit of history and we are told that they sell product assortments from a wide range of international brands and a collection of bags designed by Cecilie Talkum with inspiration from historic designs from the company's archives, was launched in October 2015
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also write the article as a draft initially. You must also reply to the COI request above.

User:Jimfbleak: Fist of all, please remember to sign your comments on other people's talk pages. Furthermore, I must say that I am shocked to see this article deleted without further discussions. I asked what parts of the article that was found promotional. All you have written are some general rules that I am perfectly awar of, having created more than 2,500 articles. Now you also make comments about notability, a question that was not addressed in the initial nomination and that I therefore not commented on. The company is a more than 140 years old, well-known brand, it is the largest luggage retailer in Denmark, it is headquartered in a building by a notable architect on Denmark's most prominent shopping street, the company and its founder both have article on Danish Wikipedia, all the four references were from neutral sources. I asked what was promotional in the article and never got an answer. I never even got to comment on the notability. If Wikipedia has turned into a place where articles that someone has spent time on are just being deleted without observing the normal criteria for that, I am done with wikiepdia.Ramblersen2 (talk) 14:10, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ramblersen2, to answer your reverted question, I did look at the deleted version. I can see elements of it that look promotional (mainly the "Locations" section, which seems to exist solely to direct people to the stores), but the rest did not look so bad to me as to merit G11. Please don't leave because of this experience. Take it to WP:DRV where it could be restored. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:03, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Muboshgu: To clarify, I added the location section because it was easy to add to get the article from a brief stub to a start-class article (plus such sections are found on many other pages about similar companies) and also to get a chance to add some links to other articles about streets and shopping centres. I did this since I thought it would improve integration between articles (not many articles link to them as it is) and not to promote anything (I don't see how linking to a street can promote a product). And where the company have shops is afterall still factual information and can as such in my opinion hardly be called "blatantly promotional". If it was wrong to include it, wouldn't it have been enough simply to delete that information or make it less specific? I don't see how it compromises the entire article and seeing the article deleted without any discussion whatsoever isn't exactly motivating. But thank you for taking the trouble of explaining even if it wasn't you I should have appealed to in the first place.Ramblersen2 (talk) 17:23, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Overgaden Neden Vandet 39

[edit]

Hello, Ramblersen2,

Thank you for creating Overgaden Neden Vandet 39.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The lead claims that the building is "historic", but the History section does not make it clear why. Is it significant architecturally? Were particularly notable people residents of this place? Did something important take place here? If so, please emphasize these points in the article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|GeneralPoxter}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Regarding your recent articles.

[edit]

I noticed that on some of your recent articles about Danish architecture and architectural sites, you write extensively on the personal lives of the inhabitants of these sites. I see no problem with a passing mention of a residence's occupation or renovations they have done to a the building. Although it seems unfit to write extensively about their children or grandchildren unless it relates to or contributes to the subject of the article itself. Besides that, the articles are excellent and very interesting.Ibn Daud (talk) 16:17, 31 May 2020 (UTC)    [reply]

User:Ibn Daud: In a history section about a given building, I do find it relevant to write about notable former residents and companies that has been operated from the premises. In cases where a notable former resident has not (yet) got a biography on English Wikipedia, I do also find it relevant to mention why that specific resident was notable, especially if it provides links to existing articles (such as a newspaper he was editor of), but it should of course be as brief as possible. As for children, I believe I only mention them if they are themselves notable and having grown up in the building they are themselves former residents. As for grandchildren, they are of course only relevant if they took over the property after their father/grandfather as is the case with Aage Rostrup in the article on Valkendorfsgade 36. In other cases, I don't think I mention them but it may have happened to get an "easy" link to a biography with not that many articles linking to them (and they are afterall to some extent likely to have been part of the life that took place in the building). I will keep your comment in mind and try to be more focused with what information I add or at least more explicit abiout why it is relevant. No other reviewers have, however, raised similar concerns. If you have any specific problems with information I have added, now or in the future, I suggest that you raise your concerns on the relevant talk page, so that we can have a discussion about it and others can participate. Just deleting information that others have just added and find relevant could easily end up in unproductive edit wars. Ramblersen2 (talk) 16:56, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I. H. Rubens Fabrikker

[edit]

Hi Ramblersen2 I think you were still working on a translation at I. H. Rubens Fabrikker. The last sentence is still in Danish. I tried to figure out from the corresponding Danish article what you were going to say, but I can't figure it out. Can you have a look? Thanks, Vexations (talk) 17:43, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment of your articles

[edit]

Hi there, Ramblersen. I'm happy to see that under your new user name, you're as active as ever on Wikipedia. I've been trying to tidy up the articles assigned to the wikiprojects for the Scandinavian countries and in this connection I noticed that many of your articles had not been assigned to WP Denmark. I've now been through all the missing ones and, with the help of ORES, have also provided assessments. If we take your two accounts, I see you have now created some 2,660 articles, over 80% of which are Start class or higher. Quite an achievement. And they are all so well presented, mostly with high-quality illustrations. You've certainly helped to put Denmark on the Wikipedia map. You might be interested to know that although both WP Norway and WP Sweden each have about twice as many articles, WP Denmark has a substantially better overall quality rating. Only 38% of the articles for WP Denmark are stubs, compared to 45% for WP Sweden and 53% for WP Norway. You've really been helping things along. Well done!--Ipigott (talk) 09:31, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ipigott: Thank you for the kind words and for creating and updating all those assessment pages. That sounds like some (yet another) massive job here on Wikipedia that you have engaged in! Now that you are here, may I ask if you are planning at some point to write an article about Tegneskolen for Kvinder (Source)? With all you work on women bios and your previous work on Carl Nielsen and the Lolland-Dalster-Møn area, I have also been wondering if you would be interested in covering Bodil Neergaard of Fuglsang Manor?Ramblersen2 (talk) 18:04, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Those look like good suggestions. I'll look into them more closely when I have time. If ever you come across similar topics which need to be covered, just drop me a line.--Ipigott (talk) 06:53, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thnak you. I added a few names to the Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by nationality#Denmark list some time back (Bodil de Neergaard was one of them), some of them may interest you.Ramblersen2 (talk) 09:52, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for these too — I'll try to work through them. I also noticed some potentially interesting red links in Weekendavisen Book Award and N. L. Høyen Medal. Always plenty to work on!--Ipigott (talk) 09:49, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Ipigott: It looks great! But yes that is the thing with red links: For each of them that is eliminated, five new ones seem to pop up. I can see that KADK website seems to state something else but Kleibn's building on H. C. Andersens Boulevard was not built until 1880-81 (Source). Another small detail that should perhaps be included (if a proper source can be found) is that the Danish Wikipedia article about the school mentions that it was from 1888 recognized as a prepatory school for the Toyal Art Academy's new Art School for Women.Ramblersen2 (talk) 15:58, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for these details. I had also seen other sources with the date of 1880 for the building. I'll try to get back to it tomorrow if you have not beaten me to it.--Ipigott (talk) 17:16, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for all your additions to both Tegneskolen and Bodil Neergaard. I see both articles have attracted above average page views in the short time they have been accessible.--Ipigott (talk) 10:14, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Ipigott: I was wondering if the Bodil Neergaard biography should be included in the Carl Nielsen nav bar and if the Carl Nielsen nav bar should be placed on the page or if the connection between them is too weak, what do you think?
I think we would first need to expand a bit on Nielsen's associations with Fuglsang and Neergaard. Just as much could probably be written about the associations with Grieg. The Nielsen and Grieg biographies could also be expanded to contain more details if they are sufficiently important. But I'll leave it to you if you think it's important enough without further work.--Ipigott (talk) 12:50, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • On Tegneskolen, could you fix the error in the box and also add refs to the source(s) you have used for the architectural details. You might also like to look at Charlotte Klein which I'm still developing. Rather busy with many other things today.--Ipigott (talk) 09:31, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Box looks OK now. Can't remember what the problem was but it was full of a red-lettered warning in edit preview a few minutes ago.--Ipigott (talk) 09:36, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Ipigott: That sounds like an "Unknown parameter" problem, strange that it suddenly shoiwed up and then dissappeared by itself. I have tried to add the few sources I can find to the architecture section. Some of the information is based on observation (cf. the images), feel free to delete or modify it to the extent that you find it necessary. The Charlotte Klein article looks good.Ramblersen2 (talk) 11:36, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see you've been adding more names to the redlist. Sooner or later I'll try to get back to them but I need to work on other things at the moment. If you're not completely tied up with architecture and male biographies, you might like to make a start on some of them yourself. There are many, many more on the Wikidata Denmark list. Maybe you can let us know which ones you think are most deserving of articles in English by adding them to the crowd-sourced list.--Ipigott (talk) 13:51, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Ipigott: Thank you for creating the Ørsted and Suhr articles. I would like to stress that I never meant to burden you with the adding of those extra names but simply intended them as my (sometimes subjective) contribution to highlighting some names that could deserve a biography, that you or someone elsem now or later, might want to look into to see if they also found them interesting. I am pretty tied up with building and topography related articles (still several thousand listed buildings to go). When it comes to biographies, I mainly create them if they come up as red links on my other articles. And my plan is to spend more time on improving existing biographies (especially the most notaible Danish architects from each period), rather than creating new ones. I don't really destinguish between gender but when it comes to WikiProject Denmar, I must say that the coverage of women (thanks to you and the Women in Red initiative in general) seems a lot better than that of men and is also progressing a lot faster. The impact that it has had is really impressive!Ramblersen2 (talk) 16:02, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hej Ramblersen - Many thanks for the new image on Diderich de Thurah. I particularly like the philosophical verse beneath. Perhaps in your travels round Copenhagen, you might be able to find one of the portraits of Admiral F C Kaas listed at Talk:Frederik Christian Kaas (1725–1803) in a form that could be uploaded. Sigrid Kähler

[edit]

Most of the articles on the Danish women you have recommended have had a fair viewing. I can't imagine why but Sigrid Kähler has only been viewed five times, no doubt by reviewers of new articles. Maybe you could use your magic touch to create more interest.--Ipigott (talk) 12:39, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ipigott: It says 175 page views of which 166 was on the first day when I check it now. I will try to add some more links to see if that helps a bit as well. The extra reference that I have added from gravsted.dk says that she died from lung cancer and not tuberculosis, I have no idea which one is correct. I I have by the way stumbled over this article about Kvindelige Kunstneres Sammenslutning - founded back in 1895 by Marie Henriques, Helvig Kinch and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen among others - and some of its members' efforts to digitalize its archives. I don't know if it has any interest.Ramblersen2 (talk) 14:57, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Where do you see 175? I only see five under Sigrid Kähler + View History + Pageviews. But thanks anyway for your additions. I've made a start on Emilie Sannom but I'm afraid the others you have listed seem to lack notability, especially for English speakers. Let's see if anyone else picks them up.--Ipigott (talk) 15:30, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for "De henter kvindelige kunstnere ud af glemslen". I'll have a more careful look at it when I have time.--Ipigott (talk) 15:36, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'll make a start on Helvig Kinch tomorrow. Looks interesting.--Ipigott (talk) 15:42, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Ipigott: I see the 175 page views here.Ramblersen2 (talk) 15:57, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've looked a bit more carefully at your page view tool. It seems to me that it includes all types of access, including editing, checking updates, etc., rather than genuine interest by users of the encyclopaedia. I see all the other recent articles respond in much the same way. I think the standard page views (also used for checking response to DYKs) is a more reasonable method of showing how much interest is shown in new articles. In any case, your new edits on Kåhler brought the standard page views up to 33 -- certainly a lot better than 5!--Ipigott (talk) 08:16, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

N. B. Clemmensen moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, N. B. Clemmensen, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. where was the fire?

[edit]

Hej Ramblerson

May I ask for your help again? My latest article Ulrich Kaas (1677 - 1746) has the admiral's house in Copenhagen destroyed by fire in November 1728. The geni.com reference mentions Ølufsgaard which appears to be out in Amager (Olufsgård 2 A, Sirgræsvej, Kastrup, Denmark), but whether this was where the fire was I do not know. With your encyclopaedic knowledge of Copenhagen, can you find out??
Also I was initially confused between Herlev and Nørre Herlev, the latter being nearer Hillerød and his estate at Sandsvigsgaard - again, from my home, I cannot find Sandvigsgaard. The Geni website above seems equally confused (or is it?) preferring the northwest corner of Bornholm!
I hope these puzzles will interest you. Viking1808 (talk) 17:31, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Viking1808:Looks like another great article you made there!
    • He owned Ølufsgaard in South Jutland from 1719 to 1741.
    • Sandviggaard at Hillerød was brought into the marriage by Kaas' second wife. Source: Historien om Sandviggaard by Lennart Weber (2016)now included as a note - Viking1808 (talk) 15:16, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Filmhusene has been built on its former land.[reply]
    • I can't find the location of his former townhouse in Copenhagen. I do see that the source mentions "November" but I assume that it was destroyed in the Copenhagen Fire of 1728 a few days earlier. now included as a possibility Viking1808 (talk) 15:16, 26 January 2021 (UTC)I will keep an eye out for more detailed information on its location.[reply]
    • It may also interest you that Ulrik (Ulrich) Kaas and Johan Cornelius Krieger established a combined lime kiln and sawmill in Christianshavn (source). His second and third sons were both born in Christianshavn, so that seems also to have been where he lived after the fire. If I am right that the old house was destroyed in the Copenhagen Fire of 1728, he didn't live there before the fire since Christianshavn wasn't affected by it. His first son died in Østergade in 1804, so a wild guess could be that this was also where Kaas house was located (in case it was rebuilt and passed down to his eldest son) but since Kaas moved to Bergen such a short time thereafter it doesn't seem very likely.Ramblersen2 (talk) 18:33, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! Mange tak! There is a lot there to digest. I must have driven past Ølufgaard a few times from Ribe to Varde. Thanks again Viking1808 (talk) 19:25, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Viking1808: :We could btw really use an article on the Danish Admiralty (cf. British Admiralty). With you interest in and great knowledge of maritime and navel affairs, would it be an article that you would be interested in starting at some point? Otherwise I may give it a go but I really don't know much about it.Ramblersen2 (talk) 19:47, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
First - let me correct a piece of English. NAVEL is the Danish NAVLE, the English NAVAL is the Danish ORLOG. It is a slip you often make! Sorry.
Second - there is a lot of information already in Orlogsværftet and Danish Shipbuilders, plus a lot to be taken from The Royal Danish Naval Museum in English or Danish. I will think about such a "Danish Admiralty" article, but it might be better if you start one in your fashion and I come in later ?? I will put some thought into it.
Third - My original question plus your reply to it might fit better at the talk page of Ulrich Kaas (1677 - 1746). Once the article settles down, I (or you) might consider moving the discussion to the articles talk page. AND - for true Danes only - I see the Danish version da:Ulrik Kaas has anotice on it asking for a rewrite. My written Danish is very poor for such an enterprise. Kaas - Ulrich and Frederick

[edit]

Hi Ramblersen2

Again, I am a little confused although you may be right here! You have just placed a new picture on the Danish-Wikipedia article of da:Ulrik Christian Kaas. Compare this with the picture on English-Wikipedia for Frederick Christian Kaas, his brother. They appear to be the same, so one is presumably wrong. Also on the Ulrich Christian Kaas' Danish page is the statement, without source,

Maleriet af Peder Als, som tidligere er blevet angivet til at forestille Kaas, er i virkeligheden et portræt af broderen F.C. Kaas.

The reason I spotted this is that I am (very slowly) getting an article together on my User:Viking1808/Sandbox2 for Ulrich Christian K.
Can you keep me straight? Viking1808 (talk) 10:15, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Viking1808: I do see that it is the same picture. My source is this one and it does state that it is Ulrik Christian Kaas (1729-1808). I tried to consult the Frederiksborg Museum's online image database but its search function is unfortunately for some obscure reason absolutely useless (it is a problem I have had before) and I therefore didn't get any results at all for "Ulrik Kaas", "Kaas" or "Frederik Kaas". You should perhaps also give it a try to see if it is only me or my computer that it fails to work for. I gues thecomment from the Danish article that you quote omdicates that it is my source that is wrong. Dansk Biografisk Leksikon does not seem to mention the portrait either (under "Ikonografi") under Ulrik Christian Kaas and I guess that is another indication that it is in fact not him (that they should have missed a portrait in a public collection seems unlikely).Ramblersen2 (talk) 13:22, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I will keep looking. Deeper in your source (reventlow) is another picture which they identify as frederik christian Kaas (kaas_frederik_christian_12724.jpg) - the one born 1727 which I have already used on the article for Frederik Christian Kaas (1725–1803). Tricky folk, these Kaas admirals. Do we really trust the reventlow website??

Viking1808 (talk) 15:14, 4 February 2021 (UTC) Viking1808 (talk) 15:29, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Viking1808: Talking about the Kaas family; in your article on Frederik Christian Kaas (1725–1803), you write that he is buried in the cemetery of Fraugde Church. He is infact buried in a burial chapel (or whatever a "gravkapel" is called in English) inside the church. I have uploaded some pictures of it as well as his and his wife's sarcofages and some inventory that he donated to the church. You my want to make some adjustments and perhaps make your own decision on what image)s) to use.Ramblersen2 (talk) 15:51, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The article Ulrik Christian Kaas (1729 - 1808) is now open for comment! Instead of a portrait, I have used the Mur Kaas coat-of-arms. If your researches can find a properly documented portrait of this Ulrik it will be much appreciated. The reference Rosenkamp -Dansk Biografisk Lexikon - Ulrik Christian Kaas page 300 appears to be the source for the claim on Danish Wiki that Ulrik's portrait is really that of his brother Frederik. Viking1808 (talk) 18:45, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Viking1808: He has according to Dansk Biografisk Leksikon only been depicted twice. One of these is a drawing by W. Haffner from 1781 in Rosenborg Castle. I think it may be one of the drawings by him seen here, so I guess it is impossible to identify the detail with him on it and that it would be too small to be useful anyway. The other one is a 1794 painting of a "royal party" which is now in the holdings of Jægerspris Castle. There is a 1794 drawing in Jægerspris Castle here but I guess it is not the one they are referring to since its a drawing and not a painting. And I guess he will again be too small and hard to identify anyway.
Is it btw on purpose that you ended up not mentioning Ølufgaard in your article on Ulrich Kaas (1677 - 1746) or did it simply slip your mind? And you may btw want to move the article to Ulrich Kaas (1677–1746) (unless I have misunderstood something) since a simple year–year range is written using an unspaced ndash.Ramblersen2 (talk) 12:25, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ramblersen - OK, no portrait of Ulrik C Kaas. thanks for trying.
Regarding his father I have not found anything to "hang my hat on" regarding Ølufgaard. There is no such article on English or Danish wikipedia to link to - perhaps just a hint (in the Ølufgaard site) that he was in severe need of money (til 1741, hvor den måtte gå på tvangsauktion.) in 1741 which may have been a continuation of his money troubles of 1732. If there was more evidence of his need for money then I would jump at it. Perhaps you, or another editor, can come up with the evidence and a good paragraph.

I will leave the matter of style to others. mvH. Viking1808 (talk) 18:21, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New Articles - April/May 2021

[edit]

Hi @Ramblersen2: That is a good article on Jens Lind (businessman), newly published by you. May I ask if you are interested in developing one on Thomas Bugge (astronomer) who features in passing on the article that I am working on Poul de Løvenørn at my sandbox2. Thomas Bugge features on Danish wikipedia at da:Thomas Bugge but there is a need for disambiguation on English wiki because of a Norwegian musician of the same name!
Having fun Viking1808 (talk) 17:52, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Viking1808: I was really surprised by just how much information could be found about Jens Lind when I started digging. I knew about him from my articles on Vandkunsten 8 and Iselingen as well as a couple of not very informative sources about Christianshavn and then got curious when I saw his name pop up in your article about Admiral Juel (1807 Danish ship). I ultimately found so much information that I decided just to upload what I had already written and then perhaps return to him later. I can give Thomas Bugge a try.Ramblersen2 (talk) 21:44, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ramblersen2: Launched this morning - the new article on Poul de Løvenørn. What a complex story, but I think I have most of it in place. Have a look and see where you can improve it. The Danish equivalent article is poor (in my opinion) with a couple of unforced errors and could benefit from a rewrite by a proper Dane such as you. Viking1808 (talk) 09:55, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Viking1808: What a great article! Løvenørn is according to this source credited with designing Stevns Old Lighthouse (1816-18) Christiansø Lighthouse (1801-05), Sprogø's first lighthouse (1809. not the current one) and Tunø Lighthouse (later heightened). The ones on Stevns and Christiansø are listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places (I took a bunch of pictures of the rather small and unassuming Stevns Old Lighthouse today and will upload them tomorrow). Apart from that, I doubt that I will be able to come up with that many additions but I look forward to having a closer look on it tolorrow.Ramblersen2 (talk) 22:45, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Ramblersen2:

On Poul de Løvenørn you will see that I have moved your Geni.com up to the main article as a reference and citation. I think it sits better there. OK?

User:Viking1808: Yes that is of course completely fine by me. I am always a bit reluctant to use such pages as inline references since I am not sure they are valid as such but I assume it is okay if noone questions it. I am always placing a geni.com link under external references on biographies since it makes it easy to find it and use it for identifying possible relatives but that is just a habit of mine and not important at all.

Also, can you help flesh out this statement? (I will also place this request on Talk:Timeline of Bergen

In 1794, whilst captain of the frigate Cronborg, Løvenørn was sent to Bergen to quell some disturbances there. (The nature of the unrest, and how they were resolved, is not specified in this reference) ( .. sendt til Bergen i Anledning af nogle Uroligheder)ref>Topsøe-Jensen Vol 2 page 157</ref> Viking1808 (talk) 17:42, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am afaraid that I can't find further information about the Bergen trip either. You should perhaps also try to place your question on the Bergen talk page since someone with an interest in the history of the city may be able to identify what sort of unrest went on in the city in 1794 and possible Norwegian sources.Ramblersen2 (talk) 11:59, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Viking1808: Good find! I am afraid I can't help you with the reference problem, though. I see that the name Le Petit Diable has turned up in the Løvenørn article. I don't know if it has your interest but for whatever it is worth: A privateer of that name is also mentioned in this source that I used for the Jens Lind article (not sure if it is the same ship, the name just ringed a bell).Ramblersen2 (talk) 21:28, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to your suggestion, as you have noticed I have been writing about Irene Griegst. I have searched in vain for details of her maiden name and the names of her parents in Casablanca but have not been able to find anything. Maybe you are familiar enough with Danish records, e.g. in connection with the birth of her children, to see if there are any useful details there. But don't spend too much time on it. It's not all that important and there's always lots more to do.--Ipigott (talk) 12:29, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ramblersen2:

In the article Battle of Rügen (1715), following the battle the Danish landforces take Nydyb, then Rügen, then Stralsund. the latter two are easy to place, but where is (or was) Nydyb. It sounds like a waterway or harbour, but does not show on my google maps. not even if written in German as Neues Tief. Do you have any old sources that could identify precisely where on the island of Rügen this was?

[edit]

Hi - I came across Hagested Church in the New Pages feed, I just made some changes to it, then noticed you were still actively editing it - sorry, didn't mean to tread on your toes. If you want to ping me when you're done, I'll return to review it properly - seems like an interesting building.

Just a suggestion, which you can ignore - when I'm writing a new article, I create a userspace draft, where I work on it until I'm happy with it, at which point I move it into article space. That means that articles don't end up in the review queue before they're ready. There's no policy or guideline requiring you to do that, it really is just a suggestion, but I find it helpful so recommend it. Thanks for your work on the article, and for all of your great contributions - I always know when I see one of your articles in the queue that I'm going to have an interesting time reviewing it :) Cheers Girth Summit (blether) 17:51, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was last in Copenhagen in December 2017. On our way back to our hotel after dinner quite late one evening, my partner and were passing Copenhagen Cathedral when we heard music coming from inside. The door was open and the lights were on, so we walked in, and found that there was a choir rehearsing - they were all standing in a circle in the centre of the nave, singing unaccompanied. I seem to remember that there was a sign saying that visitors were welcome, so we sat down, but I don't think there was anybody else in the building aside from us and the choir. We sat for perhaps half an hour, listening to some of the most beautiful acoustic work I have ever heard - it was a very memorable, touching experience. I shall certainly drop you a line if I'm in town again! Girth Summit (blether) 11:17, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Paintings in the Vejlre Museum of Art

[edit]

Hello. Regarding this recent edit of yours, if you wanted to delete the category you had created, you could have tagged the article for speedy deletion under the CSD G7. This is done by placing {{db-g7}} at the top of the page as detailed at Template:Db-g7, but since your blanking of the page has been reverted by someone else, you are no longer the sole contributor to the page, this may invalidate G7. It also states "If the sole author blanks a page other than a userspace page, a category page, or any type of talk page, this can be taken as a deletion request." (my emphasis) so I'm not sure if it's worth a try to be honest.

However, the category is currently "empty" (as in unpopulated), so you can certainly request deletion under WP:C1 by placing {{db-c1}} at the top of the page, per Template:Db-c1. Drawback to this is it takes 7 days.

Hope I've been of some help. --DB1729 (talk) 15:58, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Georg Emil Tuxen

[edit]

Hi thanks for creating Georg Emil Tuxen which I’m just reviewing. It is a requirement that when we translate or re-use any material from another language wiki, we give proper attribution for copyright reasons. If you use material from another wiki you should say so in your first edit summary when you create a new article. There’s also a template that can go on the article talk page. If you can confirm whether you used material translated from another wiki, I’ll add the template for you. Happy editing! Mccapra (talk) 06:05, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise for Nicolai Elias Tuxen. Mccapra (talk) 06:08, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

However, I didn't even look at the article on Danish wikipedia. bit it t is a copy pasted biography from an old version of Dansk Biografisk Leksikon (expired copyrights). I solely based the English start-class articles on the cited references (mostly a newer version of Dansk Biografisk Leksikon).Ramblersen2 (talk) 09:52, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Danish listed buildings articles

[edit]

Hello, I just realized that I've recently edited quite a few of your articles on Danish listed buildings. I thought it might look as if I'm checking up on your work, which isn't the case - I'm searching out instances of the with/woth typo, and have found it in numerous articles that you created. I'm fixing other little typos along the way as well.

I'm more than happy to fix little spelling errors like this, and actually find it quite fun. I just wanted to reach out and let you know I'm not weirdly targeting you... just the typos! And thanks for adding these articles, they're an interesting little snapshot in history. Cheers, Jessicapierce (talk) 22:25, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Hellerupgård has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability per WP:GNG / WP:NBUILDING.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:44, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, firstly, it wasn't a speedy request, it was a PROD. Secondly, it's not enough (as the article creator) to say that sources exist; you need to actually cite them. As it stands, that article fails WP:GNG, and if nobody else takes it to AfD, I soon will. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:07, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
User:DoubleGrazing: Sorry about that. However, my point with the edit summary was that the stub should never have been tagged like that in the first place. Consider that : 1) Years-old articles exist in two other languages 2) A simple Google search results in more than 2,000 hits 3) The main building was designed by a prominent French architect who has designed buildings in a handful of countries on two continents (with several publications about his oeuvre) 4) A handful of its former owners are notable with existing articles in English 5) The British troops used it as their headquarters during the Battle of Copenhagen (covered in dozens of books alone) 6) It is the namesake of an entire suburb (one of the more historical and wellknown ones, possibly not that difficult to figure out that it will be covered in dozens of local historic works). I do not say that this is a super important article (that's why I only bothered to start out with a stub) but, seriously, did it make sense to questions that not enough sources exist to satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for notability? Wither way, I have now started to expand it. Ramblersen2 (talk) 19:56, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Candidates for biographies of Danish women

[edit]

Thank you, Ramblersen2, for adding so many names to Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by nationality. I have been able to write articles about quite a few of them over the years but I should let you know that I always look for three substantial independent sources. It may well be that several of those you have listed have been covered in newspapers and journals but it is difficult to access most of them free of charge, even through the Wikipedia library. If you really think some of them deserve special coverage, it would be useful if you could find additional sources. I have found that searches containing Runeberg often given acceptable results. Some are covered under kendtes gravested but the information there is not considered suitable as a main source. I'm not too happy about basing new biographies on just one or two sources as I always recommend others should not embark on biographies unless they have at least three. I'm happy to see all your new articles on streets and buildings in Copenhagen, including biographies of some of the people who lived there.--Ipigott (talk) 16:03, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ipigott: I know that you have covered many of the names but based on the low activity on the page I wasn't sure if it made any sense to add new names there and therefore thought I would ping you. I completely understand that you want at least thre comprehensive sources but have normally just tried to add two and then assumed that more could be found if someone (most likely you) fo8und them interesting. U will be more critical with what I add to the list from now on.Ramblersen2 (talk) 16:15, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi thanks for creating this article. When we translate or borrow from other language wikis it’s a requirement to acknowledge the source. The best way to do this is to include it in your edit summary (e.g. “translated from da.wiki”) and there’s also a translation template you can add to the talk page. By the way you seem to have linked to the wrong da.wiki article. All the best Mccapra (talk) 18:25, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User:Mccapra: Sorry but I did not even look at the Danish article. All I did was to create a short-start-class article with a few basic facts based on the references I have added. Kattegat

[edit]

Engelsk Wikipedia er på en eller anden måde kommet til at definere Kattegats grænser på en noget anden måde end måde end vi er vant til: https://denstoredanske.lex.dk/Kattegat. Er det noget du kan fikse? Hjart (talk) 18:15, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User:Hjart: Jeg synes da at det ser okay ud. Hvordan præcis er det at du synes at definitionen afviger=Ramblersen2 (talk) 18:35, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Kattegat#Extent kan alt for nemt misforstås således at Kattegat omfatter Falster (Se de nylige redigeringer på sidste). Det bør rettes. Hjart (talk) 18:42, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Catfisheye (talk) 13:32, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ramblersen2 (talk) 14:44, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Vester /Vestre Boulevard 13 i FT 1890. Jeg leder efter Elisabeth Schack, som burde være fotograf i København et sted på det tidspunkt. I 1893 bor hun der ifølge Politiets registerblade. Catfisheye (talk) 15:15, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Vestre Boulevard 13, cf. denne kilde-Ramblersen2 (talk) 15:59, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Men mange tak for, at du prøvede! :) Catfisheye (talk) 16:23, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jeg er ikke fra KBH, så Helmerhus siger mig ikke så meget, men kan det være, at bygningen først blev bygget 1892/93? Catfisheye (talk) 18:35, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
User:Catfisheye: Ja det blev den lige præcis - beklager det skulle jeg have have tænkt på. Det er denne blok.Ramblersen2 (talk) 18:59, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Ramblersen2, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:11, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake Store Kannikestræde 6

[edit]

Nice article you created with Store Kannikestræde 6! I noticed a small mistake, under the heading "19th century" one sentence reads: The property was home to at the 1845 census. I think it's missing how many residents it was home to at the 1845 census :) Coldbolt (talk) 20:08, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User:Coldbolt/sandbox11: Indeed it is (was). Thanks for drawing my attention to it!Ramblersen2 (talk) 21:13, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No problem! I see you changed things, but should that sentence be deleted? Because you still left the number 33 out after you added it. I added the 33 number now but was the property home to 33 or 26 residents? Coldbolt (talk) 19:26, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
User:Coldbolt/sandbox11: Oops...I think I reverted to an old version after making a mistake and myst have reverted to the wrong version. 33 is the correct correct number of residents in 1845. I will go through the census record from that year again to make sure that I haven't made other mistakes. Thanks for fixing it.Ramblersen2 (talk) 19:52, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ramblersen2 (talk) 11:41, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Rigsmarsk (Denmark)

[edit]

Jeg vil mene Category:Rigsmarsk (Denmark) med fordel kan omdøbes Category:Marshals of Denmark (se Category:Marshals by country). Er det noget du kan klare? Hjart (talk) 12:47, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hjart (talk) 13:14, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Ipigott: I can see that the current category name was selected by you (back in 2011!). do you have an opinion about this?Ramblersen2 (talk) 13:21, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ramblersen2: Kategori:Rigsmarsker er sikkert mer rigtigt på dansk. Måske skulle vi også adoptere det i den engelske version, men jeg tror, at Rigsmark er mere kendt pa engelsk end Rigsmarker. Se her. Hvad synes du?--Ipigott (talk) 13:56, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for replying in Danish but everyone else seems to be addressing you in Danish. I see that now my article has been tagged, I need to add more sources!--Ipigott (talk) 14:07, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ipigott Sorry, but both I and Ramblersen are native Danish speakers, and that's why I'm addressing him this way. I think "Marsk/Rigsmarsk" is basically Danish for Marshal or perhaps Field marshal. Hjart (talk) 14:15, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Marshal in English does not usually embody the specific meaning of Marshal of the Realm in Danish and Swedish.--Ipigott (talk) 14:24, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Feltmarskal amd rigsmarsk are not the same offices/titles in Denmark. That is why I think the best solution is simply to keep the current category but to place it in a category called Category:Marshals of Denmark as I have done now. Bit if others prefer simply to have one category called Category:Marshals of Denmark I am also fine with that.Ramblersen2 (talk) 14:36, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That seems to be a very sensible solution. Marshals in Britain are certainly not comparable to those in Denmark. In any case, Rigsmarsk is a historic title (see here which needs special attention.--Ipigott (talk) 17:04, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ipigott. Thanks for the improvements and the very useful link (and even an article not locked away behind a paywall, I don't know how I could miss it). May I ask if you are on Møn at the moment? If you happen to pass any of the listed buildings that we still haven't got photos of, it would be greatly appreciated if you could take one of it.Ramblersen2 (talk) 14:18, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm here in our summerhouse at Råbylille Strand at the moment, as every year from around mid-May to mid-October. Years ago I took lots of photos of local buildings, etc., which I uploaded on Commons from a normal camera. Unfortunately, 99% of images now seem to come from smart phones. I try to avoid them as I think they do more harm than good but I'll try to find someone willing to take a photo of the restored town hall in a couple of weeks or so when work has been completed. As my sister-in-law has an office in the building, she may be able to help. As for the other buildings around here, they'll probably have to wait until you visit Møn yourself next time. I've noticed how in the past few years you've overcome your own reluctance to take photos to illustrate your articles. Your articles on buildings in Copenhagen are really impressive although I'm sometimes reluctant to give them a B rating until all the typos, etc., have been corrected. If you're really interested in what's going on around here, you can always consult the freely available Ugebladet.--Ipigott (talk) 17:17, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The external renovation has just been completed. I've added a new photo to Stege Town Hall.--Ipigott (talk) 09:14, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's always good, Ramblersen2, to see the interest you take not only in my Danish articles but also in my talk page. Thanks in particular for adding three new images to Commons and replacing the one in the biography. You might be interested to know it's actually taken from this at the KB. As there are however no details of the photographer or the date taken, your addition is fine. Sorry it took me so long to complete work on the biography. I usually add an extended lead for my first edit and try to finish the article over the following 24 hours but I've been busy with a number of other things. It may be technically incorrect but for years I've used ref names like kvinfo without quotes. I believe the quotes were introduced to prevent problems with names including a space but otherwise there's no problem. I don't usually remove infoboxes which have been added in good faith unless there has already been a discussion, for example in connection with a GA. It's good to see you agree with my approach but recent users can be upset if their edits are reverted. For some reason, infoboxes seem to be a favourite with newbies. I try to do everything possible to encourage everyone to devote more time to writing about women. Unless there is a something like vandalism or a serious copy violation, I do not usually revert anything without a discussion. I've unfortunately too often seen how reverts lead to edit wars and blockages. Please don't take any of this personally -- I just thought it might to useful to explain my editing approach on these matters in more detail.--Ipigott (talk) 15:02, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User_Ipigott:I was a bit woriedthat it was the addition of the infobox that seemed to have made you stop work on the article (you rarely leave them as stubs). And I also was a bit woried that you might have gotten the impression that I was the one who had added the infobox since I had made a number of course with extra details and the new image. And since I a, of course already aware that you don't like infoboes after all these years, it might not seem as "good faith" but rather as untimely interferences in your work. I do not have strong feelings about infoboxes myself but generally just try to do what the majority seems to be doing (since I like consistency). I do like infoboxes on building articles, though, since the dynamic maps make it very easy to zoom in and see the precise location of the buildings and even the layout of the footprint and arrangement of individual buildings. I am affraid I have no idea what your comments about KVINGO and "quotes" refer to. Of it refers to something I have done, then it has been unintentional. Do tell me if I should retore the infobox but otherwise I will leave things that they are, It is good to see that the article has now been expanded.Ramblersen2 (talk) 16:04, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me on this and for correcting the dates. Don't worry about the quotes in ref names. As for the infobox, it might be good to restore it with your new portrait as Significa liberdade is proving to be a very productive contributor. I'm now trying to see if Adam Cuerden can improve the quality of the images.--Ipigott (talk) 13:55, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, @Ipigott (and @Ramblersen2)! I know a lot has been said on the subject, but as someone with ADHD, seeing blocks of texts can be difficult for me, and I sometimes have trouble quickly finding some vital information. As such, I find info boxes beneficial. However, especially with certain biographies, I find it more difficult to determine what information should be provided in the info box. When working with literature and writers, though, I feel most confident as that is my focal area. I will note, though, that I wouldn't consider myself a newbie, lol. Significa liberdade (talk) 17:32, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Significa liberdade : Thanks for responding so quickly. I think you should continue adding infoboxes to your own creations where you think they help and to other articles where you believe the leads are not easily accessible to those suffering from ADHD. You might also consider improving the leads and not just the infoboxes. You are certainly not a newbie but as far as I can see your interest in women writers is fairly recent. As I said above, I would not have removed your infobox on Sødring. That said, I appreciate all your recent work on women and their works.--Ipigott (talk) 18:00, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ipigott: I'll take what you've said into account. Although I haven't been active in WP:Women writers by putting my name on things or sharing accomplishments, etc., I have been actively creating content for women writers since early 2021. Not sure if that counts as "fairly recent". (Also, I would recommend against the phrasing "suffer from ADHD". I would say that some of the symptoms of ADHD can be harmful, but on the whole, I don't feel like it's something I suffer from. I benefit a lot from it, too.)Significa liberdade (talk) 22:24, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please check the coordinates for Nyhavn 6. It does not appear to be on the south side of Nyhavn as explained in the article. The box also had the wrong name which I've changed.--Ipigott (talk) 14:32, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Women educators from Denmark

On the basis of your advice, I have now created quite a number of articles based on Kvinfo. As our focus on women in education extends throughout the year, you are of course welcome to make further recommendations.--Ipigott (talk) 16:10, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ipigott: Yes I have enjoyed following your very fast progress. I will see later if I can come up with more names worth considering. In your Wilhelmine Heise biography, you may want to add something on her role as an educator by establishing Kragevig Craft School. Would it be worthwhile to start an top-down article about Early women's education in Denmark, which could provide an overview of early institutions? Or perhaps just a nav bar. It could be a fairly easy way of highlightinh the many articles on the subject,Ramblersen2 (talk) 17:43, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fram (talk) 09:07, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at your recent contributions, I see many instances of close paraphrasing, e.g. in A Street Scene in the Dog Days the description is way too close to the text in the source[3]. There also is often very sloppy writing, sentences like "Marstrand has incorporated his own signature in the motif by placing jis initials and the date on a shio sign in the uper left corner of the painting." or the many errors in the "changing owners" section of Stensbygård ("In 10+7. "Svendborg on Gunen," (should be Funen), "He lived in England from 1903 to 1909 tp 1903."...). Fram (talk) 09:27, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

E.g. at Kronborg Tapestries, which I listed for speedy deletion as a series of blatant copyright violations, you have the section heading "Survovomg taåestroes". I will open a WP:CCI request and will ask for your autopatrolled status to be revoked. Fram (talk) 09:40, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:Fram: As for Arnold Eugen Reimann (landowner), I can see why you have removed the last section of "Personal life". Not that it is an excuse but it all ended up in a bit of a mess since my initial expansion of the first upload of the article got lost due to an uncareful page move by another user that resulted in an edit conflict (see the page history). It was getting late and I can certainly see that I was too eager to get the last details added again before calling it a day. As for the Kronborg Tapestries, I actually thought that the information on be page was released under another license since that is the case for most of the pages in the National Museum of Denmark's image database. I can also see that I went too close to the museum's website with ""The Iron Foundry, Burmeister & Wain, it was just meant as a quick stub until I found more sources. I will certainly take more care from now on. As for asking to having my autopatrolling status removed, it is of course a completely fair reaction that I have no problem with (only asked for it because I was asked to).Ramblersen2 (talk) 11:15, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would be more likely to believe your excuses if the issues didn't appear in nearly every article you created. I just selected the latest 100 articles you created and went to the bottom of the list, Johan Daniel Herholdt (physician), from December 2023.
"[...]a very large practice which he looked after with extraordinary conscientiousness and care. He was very self-sacrificing and benevolent, and in particular the fact that he did not take any account of the costs of the patients' treatment at Frederik's hospital, in connection with the fact that he gave lectures and had difficulty getting along with the management, were the reasons for that he did not have his employment as chief physician extended beyond the six years during which he was employed. Before then, however, he had managed to improve the hospital's poor hygienic conditions and improved the treatment of delirium patients, so that the mortality rate dropped from 40 to 8%."

A tag has been placed on The Iron Foundry, Burmeister & Wain requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://open.smk.dk/artwork/image/KMS3605. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Your recent contributions

[edit]

As I had not heard from you for some time, Ramblersen2, I thought I would look into what you have been working on recently. I was pleased to see that you have not only been writing more articles about historic buildings in Denmark but have also created quite a number of biographies of Danish businessmen and other notables and have made a valiant start on historic Danish ships associated with the Royal Danish Navy. All very inspiring for those of us who are interested in Denmark. As so few of your recent contributions had been rated, I spent most of my editing time today looking through all your recent additions and providing missing assessments. As a result, I am pleased to see that your Ramblersen2 Xtools listing now contains over 1,1100 articles since January 2018, of which 96 are rated B class, 259 C class and 572 Start class. This is indeed an impressive achievement, complementing your earlier achievement as Ramblersen of a further 2,271 articles. You have certainly been really effective in putting Denmark more solidly on the Wikipedia world map. Really impressive work!--Ipigott (talk) 16:30, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Ipigott, good to hear from you. Thanks for spending all that time providing assessments of my recent articles. I regularly decide to spend more time on improving old articles but always end up returning to creating new ones instead.Ramblersen2 (talk) 22:51, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Architecture of Denmark

[edit]

Thanks in part to your own contributions, Ramblersen2, I am happy to report that Architecture of Denmark has retained its GA status as you can see from the article's talk page. Thanks once again for helping out.--Ipigott (talk) 06:53, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ipigott: Great to hear that things has been sorted out. As I mentioned on your own talK page, my contribution to ipdating the article was very small. Thank you for talking care of this.Ramblersen2 (talk) 12:36, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are always so modest. Your additions provided an excellent update on recent developments.--Ipigott (talk) 07:23, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Going through census records to write paragraph after paragraph of things like

At the 1801 census, No. 140 was home to 45 residents in eight households. Jacob Rosted resided in the building with his wife Frideriche Dau. a maid and two lodgers (carpenters). Anne Christine Linne., a widow, resided in the building with two sons (aged 12 and 15), a maid and two students. Gertrud Marie Greis, a widow teacher, resided in the building with a maid, Peder Armstrøm (a planter from Saint Croix and the latter's 11-year-old black sercant. Johan Gotlieb Blau, a pharmacist, resided in the building with his wife Christine Winkler, their two children (aged three and five), two maids, three pharmacists, two pharmacist's apprentices and a caretaker. Philip Gebhart von Thun (1756–1828), a captain in the Royal Danish Navy, resided in the building with his wife Anette Mathisen, a two-year-old daughter and two maids. Rasmus Larsen, a beer seller (øltapper), resided in the building with his wife Marie Hansen and their eight-year-old daughter. Ole Hansen, a barkeeper, resided in the building with his wife Juliane Hobroem their trhree children (aged 13 to 18) and a maid. Niels Andersen, a beer seller, resided in the building with his wife Anne Cathrine Jensen and their two children (aged two and three).

is WP:OR and completely WP:Undue for an article about a current building which replaced these older, non-notable ones (Frederiksberggade 1, but also many, many others you wrote). Your endless lists of occupants completely overwhelms the articles. It belongs on some other website, but not on Wikipedia. Please restrict yourself to the basic information about previous buildings and notable occupants only (of course you may mention that Kierkegard or so lived there previously), but stop adding endless lists of random inhabitants from census records. User:Fram: Numerous other new page-patrollers and reviewers have reviewed, rated or edited the articles that you have a problem with without having any issues with them (at least none that they have mentioned). Some of the editors that have reviewed, rated or edited many of the articles are User:Ipigott, User:Girth Summit, User:Onel5969, User:Uffda608 and User:Christian75. Many of the articles have been rated as B-class. In fact, I have used these ratings as a guideline since I would rather add fewer, well-researched B-class articles than an endless portion of not particularly informative Start-class articles. Regarding Frederiksberggade 1, specifically, by writing Gammeltorv pharmacy in bald, I believe I have stress that the article is also about Gammeltorv Pharmacy, whose history is detailed in plenty of article to make it notable in its own right. But I think it is better to covert it in the same article, rather than have two ones, considering that it was located in the building from its construction until its closure in 1990. But that dones make its history from its foundation in 1811 until 10+9 irrelevant, especially since it was located on the same site. The same is the case with Søren Kierkegaard's birthplace. Considering how numerous and detailed the sources are. I also think it is quite obviously relevant to covert the cadastral history of the property, previous owners etc. And again: Other seem to have agreed with me, so just deleting a huge amount of tect, wtih numerous references, doesn't seem particular productive. You even deleted the section heading "History=, leving a subsection wityhout a section without a main headline.Ramblersen2 (talk) 12:17, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User talk:Fram: That would be very welcome. But I hope you are aware that the sections you deleted contained plenty of other informations and other references. I think information from the census record is instrumental in highlighting what sort of people lived there, what businesses were operated from the premises etx. In articles where few other buildings are available. I find such information relevant and useful. The name can also be used to find more sources and information. And since articles with this sort of detailed information of the building has generally received a better rating, I have assumed that this view was shared by others.Ramblersen2 (talk) 13:15, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Deleting substantial content from just one of Ramblersen2's many articles about streets and buildings in Copenhagen is not constructive. The entire set gives an extremely useful, interwoven overview of the architectural history of the city. Before any such further deletions are made, I suggest proposals for discussion should be made on pertinent talk pages.--Ipigott (talk) 13:59, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tagging such poor articles as B-class isn't constructive either, as it (as can be seen here) only gives him the idea that this approach to article writing is actually good. Oh well, I'll raise it at the Wikipedia:No original research/Noticeboard. Fram (talk) 14:07, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
