Will you please answer?

My questions from my unblock request were valid, no? Will you please answer them? 75.162.211.81 (talk) 05:45, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your behaviour since your block expired has been in violation of WP:BATTLEGROUND and false accusations of vandalism (e.g. [1], [2]), therefore I feel my decision not to unblock you at the time was justified. Optimist on the run (talk) 07:54, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How was my Kesha edition supposedly a "false accusation of vandalism," according to you? And that was actually one of my questions: supposed "false accusations of vandalism." Why is it "okay" for them to falsely accuse me of vandalism, then? What about my other "them vs. me" questions that you haven't yet answered? 75.162.211.81 (talk) 10:39, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't answer your questions, as I was reviewing your unblock request, which is not the place to air your grievances. As you chose to concentrate on that, rather than reflecting on your behaviour, I gave you the standard {{decline reason here}} response. (I see you added further questions in the middle of my response, but that is not the best place to make them obvious). As for the false accusations of vandalism, I have given you an example above. If you have any criticism about the actions of any administrator (including myself) I suggest you raise it civilly at WP:AN, though I would strongly recommend you to concentrating on improving Wikipedia instead. Optimist on the run (talk) 21:28, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Then you're not very good at understanding what people are saying, "optimist," because:

1. I did reflect on my behavio[u]r and state that I would make a better effort like the appeal guide says to do. Did you not notice my FIRST sentence there?

2. I wasn't using that as a place to "air [my] grievances." In addition to fulfilling the standard appeal format as given by the guide, I was using those questions as a way of showing why the blocking was wrong and should've been undone, but then to also have my questions answered. So why won't you answer the rest of them?

You showed me what you thought was a "false accusation" of vandalism, but you did not explain why you thought that was such. What is your logic on that, especially as compared to the false accusation of vandalism that escape orbit and frowny face were giving me?

Happy 120th birthday to my state, Utah, today, January 4th, 2016! --Mike, 75.162.211.81 (talk) 20:20, 4 January 2016 (UTC).[reply]

I have already given my answers, which should be clear. The only thing I'll add is that I did read your first sentence, and considered it insufficient to warrant an unblock. Now please drop the stick. I will not involve myself any further in this debate unless another administrator requests it. Optimist on the run (talk) 21:33, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Recreating 'Shushank Mainali'

Hi there, With due respect to your decision to delete the previous article for Shushank Mainali, I am recreating the article now with accordance to the guidelines and suggestions received on course of the deletion. I had been away and since I received very little information about the figure, previous article seemed to be floating away from proper specification and lacking references. This time, too I am not writing a lot about the figure but maintaining quality before quantity. So, please suggest me if the new article again requires some reviews and corrections. We are contributing for the proper information flow about Nepalese movie fraternity. Thank you. --Kpaudel969 (talk) 02:38, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Kpaudel969: You are welcome to recreate the article, but note that all articles about living people must have at least one reference to a reliable source, otherwise the article will be deleted again. Note that self-references to Wikipedia are not considered a reliable source. Optimist on the run (talk) 18:24, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to article Suman Shetty

Hey there, I see you have undid a revision on the article Suman Shetty which was proposed for deletion. After doing my research and checking reliable reference sources I have added back the Wikipedia:PROD tag, as the article causes confusion between the two surnames. The redirect doesn't really help and it would be better if it was deleted right away. Do let me know what you think. Thanks! Have a great day.. --PageImp (talk) 15:41, 27 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@PageImp: - firstly, WP:PROD specifically states "PROD is only applicable to mainspace articles, lists, and disambiguation pages; it cannot be used with redirects, userspace pages, templates, categories, or pages in any other namespace." (my emphasis). Secondly, a prod that is contested for any reason should not be restored (see WP:CONTESTED). If you feel the redirect has no value, then take it to WP:RFD, but first, consider the number of articles that link directly to this redirect. I won't contest deltion at RFD, but it need to go through the correct procedure. Optimist on the run (talk) 15:49, 27 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Optimist on the run: - The redirect has no value. I will try to unlink the articles from the redirect and then take it to WP:RFD. I am kinda new to Wikipedia so was unaware. Again, Thanks for helping me out! Cheers --PageImp (talk) 16:13, 27 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No problem - it's an easy mistake to make! Optimist on the run (talk) 16:23, 27 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Suman Shetty listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Suman Shetty. Since you had some involvement with the Suman Shetty redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. PageImp (talk) 17:43, 27 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Noted. I'm neutral. Optimist on the run (talk) 23:06, 27 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Talyllyn Railway rolling stock

Are you able to update the "Visiting Locos" section with info regarding the three Fletcher Jennings locos that starred in the recent Gala ? Admittedly "William Finlay" is staying put at Tywyn and will be placed in the NGR Museum this winter, while "Townsend Hook" was only on stationary display, but "Captain Baxter" was in steam giving footplate rides on a short length of standard gauge track, similar to the way "Prince" and "Russell" had operated. RGCorris (talk) 15:33, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I fully intend to, but just haven't got round to it yet. I need to upload some photos of the event as well. Optimist on the run (talk) 16:00, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Signalling

Better signalling enables trains to run closer together. This means more trains can run on the same track. I can provide diagrams if you wish. Britmax (talk) 07:47, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Britmax: I'm fully aware of headway, however spending vast sums of money providing extra capacity when there aren't the trains available to use it is a waste of time. Describing signalling in the UK as deficient is incorrect, firstly by the implication that it may be in some way unsafe (and we have one of the safest railway systems in the world), and secondly it is sufficient to handle the trains available. Indeed, the simplest solution to alleged "overcrowding" is to increase train length of existing trains, which has a minimal affect on headway. Optimist on the run (talk) 09:33, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, your familiarity with this was not apparent. They didn't have much of a capacity problem before they tried to make one Pacer do the work of an eight car train (as I'm told happens). Britmax (talk) 09:44, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

model railways

hello, i am trying to update articles on model railway examples of certian engines but someone keeps taking down my sources saying they are not reliable, my question is can i use Suppliers websites such as bachmann who features news articles about there releases and other supplier websites aslong as they focus on the news aspect? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Teabagishere (talkcontribs) 07:35, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Teabagishere: They're not ideal, but better than nothing. Forums are definitely not a valid source however. The best would be a review in a recognized journal such as Railway Modeller. (I don't usually buy model railway mags, so I don't know if it's been reviewed or not). Optimist on the run (talk) 07:39, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for replying, Railway modeller is not an online publication which makes it incredibly tricky but sources like bachmann do publish what they are producing, especially when it comes to models in the development stage, such as with the LNWR coal tank, however there are no reviews or articles talking about it which is why i have to used forums and Producer pages in the past however these just get shot down. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Teabagishere (talkcontribs) 07:43, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New York Methodist Hospital

Hello! checked out the Help section and read that the best way to talk to someone about company page updates is to reach out to an editor familiar with page. As you were one of the admins to block our hobbyist harasser, I thought I ask you. Please forgive any missteps. I work in the public affairs office of the New York Methodist Hospital, and NYM will be going through a major rebranding soon, and due to conflict of interest issues, I know that I cannot do the updating myself (right?). However, I want to make sure that that editors (non-affiliated) are notified so that our page is at least up to date. I also want to mention that our page has been a point of contention for a certain (recently unbanned)individual. Can someone please advise the best way to go about this? thanks 143.104.225.142 (talk) 15:52, 9 November 2016 (UTC)143.104.225.142 (talk)[reply]

Croydon tram crash

Fifty-one were taken to hospital, seven made their own way to hospital, giving 58 injured. Mjroots (talk) 06:22, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mjroots: The lead states 51 injured. Since this is referenced I assumed this was the correct value (I haven't checked the ref itself). The two figures ought to be consistent. Optimist on the run (talk) 06:32, 17 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Global block status?

Hi, I'm hoping to learn more about the global block to my account. It was a compromised password, I assume, as I certainly didn't make the 170 or so edits attributed to my account. If you would mind heading over to meta, to help clarify what's what, that would be awesome, thanks! -- 198.96.114.20 (talk) 13:18, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
