Nomination for deletion of Template:Tram symbol

Template:Tram symbol has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page.

Can you take a quick look at this article? You recently deleted it and it has recently resurfaced. The article's subject is still clearly not notable. Thanks. 172.56.38.31 (talk) 01:56, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted it as an uncontested PROD, therefore it can be restored or replaced without issue. The article seems to meet notability guidelines, though I see the point of the AfD nomination that it fails WP:BLP1E, though not enough to swing me either way in this case. Optimist on the run (talk) 21:15, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Optimist, I think that if you look at the article's sources, and at other reliable sources that you can find via your web search, and via news and books search, you will agree that a clear majority of sources use lowercase line for this. If you get a chance, take a look; and if you agree, you can ask for it to be moved back, and save the hassle of an RM. Up to you. Dicklyon (talk) 18:56, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind; since Andy wants caps, too, we'll need to discuss. Dicklyon (talk) 19:34, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see that there's anything to discuss. This is a clear-cut case of being the proper name for the line, rather than a descriptive title. Optimist on the run (talk) 19:41, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I will be arguing that since sources usually don't cap it, neither should we. Per MOS:CAPS. Dicklyon (talk) 03:31, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Corris Railway

The length of line was extended over the weekend just past. What is the "Quail map" you refer to ? RGCorris (talk) 09:26, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Railway Track Diagrams, Book 4, published 2013. I'm willing to accept that it's been extended over the weekend if you say so, but there's nothing on the Corris website about it, and given the recent IP vandalism of the article I thought it better to revert as a good faith edit until there's something to reference. Is this an extension to passenger services, or just track laying towards the next station? Optimist on the run (talk) 10:18, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This is an extension towards the next station, at the south end of the running line, but will not carry passengers for the foreseeable future. I expect photos will appear on the website shortly. Passenger services extended a short distance into the original site of Corris Station in 2016 and will be running into the south platform at Maespoeth in 2017, again a little further than in previous years when they have terminated at the north platform. I don't know who changed the length shown but it may have been a good faith edit based on the above information RGCorris (talk) 11:27, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@RGCorris: It's
  • Yonge, John; Padgett, David; Szwenk, John (August 2013) [1990]. Bridge, Mike (ed.). Railway Track Diagrams 4: Midlands & North West (3rd ed.). Bradford on Avon: Trackmaps. map 51D. ISBN 978-0-9549866-7-4.
This book (and others in the same series) are known as the Quail maps since editions prior to 2005 were published by the Quail Map Company, for example:
  • Yonge, John (October 1990). Jacobs, Gerald (ed.). Railway Track Diagrams 4: London Midland Region. Exeter: Quail Map Company. ISBN 0-900609-74-5.
but the Corris Railway does not appear in that edition. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 12:04, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info, but obviously a 2013 book is not up to date with an extending railway project. RGCorris (talk) 12:09, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we do have a policy on verifiability - is there a more recent reliable source available? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 12:17, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I am seeking to have it officially measured from buffer stop to buffer stop, and when this is done we will add the info to the railway's website. RGCorris (talk) 12:28, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As there will no doubt be further incremental extensions until the railway reaches its next passenger station, I think the best thing is to leave it as 58 chains, and I've added a note to state that this is the length of the operational railway. DYK for Rheidol (locomotive)

On 8 March 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Rheidol (locomotive), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Rheidol, a former locomotive on the Vale of Rheidol Railway in Wales, was originally called Treze de Maio, after the date that slavery was abolished in Brazil? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Rheidol (locomotive). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Rheidol (locomotive)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Cat-a-Lot approval list

Where would one go about proposing such a thing, or seeking out support? I'm not quite prepared to yet...there are a couple of concerns with the tool I have...but it's honestly long surprised me that such a powerful tool is so easily accessible to so many people. Even if I have it myself. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:15, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ser Amantio di Nicolao: Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals) is probably the best place to propose it. However, as it seems to be a js-script that's hosted on Commons, I don't know how easy it would be to limit its use on en-Wiki, or even if it's possible at all. It may be worth finding out if it's feasible at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) before putting it forward as a proposal. Optimist on the run (talk) 16:16, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's exactly my concern. I wonder if there's some way it could be forked over here for control...I have a list of tasks to get to, but I'll add this one to it and try to ask around in a day or two. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:19, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ping me if you propose it, as I don't watch those pages. Optimist on the run (talk) 16:22, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. If I don't get to it in a week or so, please feel free to remind me - I'm a tad addlepated at the best of times. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:23, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Ser Amantio di Nicolao: Did you ever do anything about this? Optimist on the run (talk) 18:57, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No, I got sidetracked and forgot about it, as I usually do. Thanks for the reminder - I'll pop over there tonight and ask a few questions. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 19:13, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Here we go. Would've had it up sooner, but I may or may not have fallen asleep after dinner, so... --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:35, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And thanks for helping me sort out my disordered thoughts. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:26, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"no attacks please"

Just to let you know, this wasn't required. I assume Jenks24 is an Australian and as such, that kind of banter between he and me is fine as far as we're both concerned. In other words, it was a joke. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:11, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@The Rambling Man: Agreed, I'd assumed it was ([1]). But the "insult" wasn't just aimed at you, and talk:Main Page is read by many people, not just editors. Optimist on the run (talk) 14:25, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
