What I liked
I thought that the training was fairly comprehensive and covered all of the essential information for contributing to wikipedia, which I liked.

...

What I didn't like
It was a little bit bland, and required a lot of clicking past small pages. It might be more easily digestible as a longer page to scroll through - going through the training felt a little bit tedious, like clicking through a slideshow. A longer-form type of presentation might have been better.

...

What was missing
I would be interested in seeing more information on the process of developing an article beyond a stub perhaps? Honestly not much was missing.

...

What was unnecessary
Some parts of the training seemed relatively inessential, like the portion on barnstars at the end. They don't seem entirely crucial to the process of editing itself. That being said, I think it's still somewhat valuable information.

...

What I liked

What I didn't like

...

What was missing

What was unnecessary

Some of the videos were too repetitive with what was written in the text.

--Hannahrichter (talk) 20:03, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What I liked

It was concise, and the additional videos gave extra instruction where needed.

What I didn't like

The wikicode editing system seems complex at first, but I'm optimistic that the added 'beta' editor will make this process easier.

What was missing

An overview page of wikicode would be helpful.

What was unnecessary

None; I thought it was all useful without additional fluff or non-substantive content.

--Amolutrankar (talk) 20:58, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What I liked

...It was all short and to the point.

What I didn't like

...Clicking through the pages was a little monotonous.

What was missing

...I thought it was good and informative, so nothing.

What was unnecessary

...Some of the videos were unnecessary for me to watch.

--Shelby thomas15 (talk) 21:14, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What I liked
Everything was simple, to the point, and conveniently enhanced with short videos. I feel that I have enough of an understanding of Wikipedia to start contributing on my own.

...

What I didn't like
On a technical note, I had to open many of the videos in different tabs to properly view them. Otherwise I felt that some points were a little too simplistic and needed more elaboration.

...

What was missing
Perhaps examples from existing pages within the explanation text would help to clarify the use of coding in Wikipedia. For those without any computer science experience, some of the coding language can seem daunting at first.

...

What was unnecessary
The dialogue about plagiarism (with the pictures) was unnecessary. The question asked was something that could have been answered in the previous section. If this section were to be kept, it should probably reflect a "FAQ" orientation.

What I liked

What was missing

What I liked

I never knew what it really took to make it to Wikipedia. I have always taken it for granted. I thought the scale of the whole site was amazing and I think the fact that the orientation even exists is a good way to regulate the site.

What I didn't like

Sometimes tedious. I have to say the coding parts put me off, it makes it difficult to be drawn to contribute when it's hard to do so. However, the way it was approached, with video instructions for further detail, was very useful.

What was missing

Nothing, I think it covered everything. And if I was to have any questions, the orientation made it seem like they would be easy enough to find answers to

What was unnecessary

All the clicking to next pages. I feel everything covered was necessary. Perhaps it wouldn't be to everyone, but I think it's a good base of information to get started.

What I liked

...The tutorial provided a comprehensive guide on how to navigate the site by providing useful YouTube videos. I thought they provided the clarity that I needed to get through the different modules. They are also good for future reference. As a new Wikipedian, the training was useful in that it was a step by step guide thoroughly explaining what I was about to go through. The breaking up of the training through modules was helpful and I liked how we would receive a completion check mark after.

What I didn't like

...Although it is in the nature of Wikipedia for links to be integrated everywhere, I found it distracting to keep clicking on the links throughout training. - It was interesting to learn how to edit wikipedia

What I didn't like

What I liked
I liked all the video tutorials that showed step-by-step instructions on how to code and whatnot. It was a lot more useful than the actual description written about the certain tools in Wikipedia.

...

What I didn't like
I can't really think of anything I didn't like. I think there should be more videos on all the codes just so people can get a feel for all the things that can be done in a Wiki article starting with the things that are most used down to the things that a lot of people don't really need in editing or making an article of their own.

...

What was missing
Video on other basic codes like italicizing words. Although there are buttons that will insert the code that you need in there for you, I think that showing how to manually insert the code could be less time consuming in some cases. Like making something bolded, I don't want to stop what I'm writing to go in and click the bolding tool. I'd rather just enter the myself.

...

What was unnecessary
I can't think of anything that is unnecessary. Everything in the tutorial is useful.

...

orientation eval[edit]

What I liked
I liked how informative it was. Very good instruction and explanations on how to do things on Wiki.

...

What I didn't like
I didn't like how long it was. The explanations could have been summed up a bit.

...

What was missing
I felt it was missing more videos. I am more of a visual and experimental learner.

...

What was unnecessary
I thought it was all very informative information, I just didn't like how in-depth it got there in a few parts. It lost my interest very fast and I don't feel I got much out of it in the long sections of instruction.

...I enjoyed the step-to-step process that allowed me to learn about the format. The description of sandbox was also helpful

What I didn't like

...There wasn't much, just that the structure was a little confusing at times

What was missing

...It would have been nice for more of the topics to be covered with videos, or the entire sections to each have a single, longer video

What was unnecessary

...A little more time was spent on the concepts of good people doing good things to make Wikipedia better. It's a rather simple idea so stating it multiple times felt unnecessary, but I suppose some people need to hear it several times

What I didn't like

...I didn't like how the videos and multimedia were set up because they did not load correctly.

What was missing

...All content needed for contributing to Wikipedia was show and is easily accessible whenever needed.

What was unnecessary

...Some of the information was restated over and over again within each module.
