@Twang: Firstly, this is not at all ReferenceBot's fault. The bot correctly notified you that your edit caused an error. And while there are some current issues with the change in format for 2015 arXiv IDs, that wasn't the issue here - you caused a genuine error that was fixed by Stamptrader; you used the "archiveurl" parameter which, as the name implies, should be a URL (such as a Wayback Machine link, meant for archived copies of web pages) to give the arXiv identifier. Secondly, the bot notifies editors only once about an edit; removing the arXiv ID did not save you any "spam". Thirdly, if you prefer not to be notified of the errors you cause you can use the {{nobots}} template to prevent ReferenceBot from editing your talk page; there's no central blacklist. I would assume that getting the bot to ignore this specific error would be a rather difficult fix for a temporary problem. I would also assume that the number of users who are notified for an error that shouldn't be one is rather small - 2015 isn't that old, and there aren't that many brand-new arXiv papers to be cited. Just want to you know that I'm new to how the page works, I'm still learning. While, I understand and except that you have removed what I wrote in brackets as well as the stuff that seemed surplus to needs on that page. Some of those questions have ben answered. I asked on the 2000AD Online from where in the entire Slaine Saga can I find Melga. Aside from that I pretty much know Pre-Horn-God Slaine back to front.

I'm wondering why somebody, probably not you... insists that Morgoth's Daughter (I'll been damned if I can remember the correct spelling of her name!) was scarred or killed by a Cythron Laser Sword, Gun, or Cannon. If you or that other person/people re-read "Time-Killer/Tomb of Terror" again. She is getting a facial via the spittle of a Giant-Time-Worm./ Slaine shielded her from being hit directly in the face, but not entirely and she was thus partially scarred with old-age and then later swallowed by the great purple dragon Nidhugg. Unless people are really offended by the money-shot reference, I don't why this information has been miss entered.

There's currently no reliable source for the cause of Tlachtga's disfigurement, and reliable third-party sources are in very short supply in the entire article. Instead we're given "references" like Strabo, who I seriously doubt has anything to say about a 21st-century comic strip. The "laser beam" has been removed again, but whether it's breath, spittle or something else entirely that ages her - who knows? Not the given reference, that's for sure. If you check the date of the notification, you'll find it dates back to 2013. Now if you check your IP's contributions, you'll find that the IP address you now use back then indeed did edit the List of Tamil films of 2012. If those edits weren't made by you, then probably the IP address was assigned to someone else back then. Several issues. Firstly, this talk page belongs to the operator of BracketBot, not to Bgwhite. I'll notify him that something of interest may be discussed here, but technically this is the wrong place. Secondly, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a library catalogue. I don't see what the availability of genealogical data tells our readers about those villages. I'd strongly advise you to seek wider community input on whether adding such information on the availability of genalogical data is considered beneficial; personally, as I said abouve, I don't think so. This is not about some easily-fixed editing problems, but about the usefulness of your entire project. The talk page of a relevant WikiProject, such as WT:WikiProject Slovakia would be a good place for such a discussion; in fact I'll leave a message there myself. Even if we were to agree that those sources are reliable ("It's true, I read it on Twitter!" - yeah, right), primary sources such as those are not waht Wikipedia content should be based on, and they cannot establish significance. We don't need to cover everything the band published on social media. And in this particular case, there are multiple paragraphs covering years of the band's existence based on nothing but their own word. That is problematic. Also, ReferenceBot didn't notify you because it was unhappy with the primary sources (it's too dumb to care about that), but because when you removed the maintenance tags, you also removed a </ref> tag, breaking the reference in the process. I was unable to find a valid 10- or 12-character ISBN value for the work cited, although I did find it mentioned on several other sites (such as [2]) with a scan of the book cover, and some sites ([3], [4]) show the same short ISBN.

@Slambo: ISBNs come in either ten or thirteen digits. Whatever that nine-digit number is, it's not an ISBN. I have found the book at both WorldCat and the Library of Congress, and neither gives an ISBN. I suspect the book is too old to have been assigned one, and what those references call an ISBN is something else, possibly a Czechoslovakian numbering scheme. Yes, those are two false positives. The Google Art Project is well-known for it file names with mismatched parentheses, and BracketBot doesn't know how to ignore brackets within file names. The other supposed "error" is more tricky; {{NRHP header}} serves as the header of a table, leaving the bracket at the end of the table without a match. That said, the article already amply covers Levene's role in The Clash and should not at length present his own view based on nothing but his own word. We're not a platform for Levene's self-promotion. That's not even taking into account issues of plagiarism or copyright which might also have been an issue. Finally, Levene's unhappiness with Wikipedia might possibly be relevant to Levene, but it's utterly irrelevant to a band that was disbanded long before Wikipedia was founded. @Bill Cassara: I am rather skeptical about the motives of somebody who takes the article on Ted Healy and adds a paragraph on how well-received his own book is - that's rather obviously irrelevant to our readers' understanding of Healy and only serves to promote your own work. If you are an expert on Healy and want to improve Wikipedia, surely you know of sources other than your own book that make the same points? For example, threestooges.com, the source we currently cite for Healy's name, already says his name was Ernest Lea Nash - "Charles" isn't backed up by that source and appears to have been vandalism. The article on Healy could do with some more attention (as a trivial example, his "citizenship" is hardly "Holy Innocents' School" as the infobox currently says), but given your obvious conflict of interest it may be a good idea to propose specific changes on the talk page and let uninvolved editors decide on implementation. More of an unfortunate lack of synergy. ReferenceBot notifies editors about reference errors they introduce. AnomieBot fixes some of those, the ones that don't need a human to look into them. I fixed that, but the article has more severe problems: It does not cite any reliable sources with the possible exception of An Encyclopedia of Chairs - and it doesn't provide much bibliographical information about that one, making it hard to identify. Wikipedia content should be a summary of what reliable third-party sources such as newspapers or reputable magazines have reported about a person. You may also want to take a look at our guideline on conflicts of interest; writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged because it's difficult to maintain a neutral point of view when writing about oneself. It seems more likely that yours is a shared IP address that was assigned to someone else. If you had given an indication of where the note was left I could have taken a look and fixed whatever issue the bot pointed out, but unfortunately you didn't do so. For registered users it's possible to tell ReferenceBot not to notify them of their mistakes (and a registered user wouldn't receive messages meant for other people either), but there's not much of a point to doing something about IP addresses you share with others and likely won't be using again the next time you visit Wikipedia. @SusunW: So the book misprinted its own ISBN? While technically it might be possible to add a list of ISBN "redirects", I rather doubt it's common enough an occurrence to justify the huge effort, which would probably include significant changes to the Mediawiki software, not just to templates or other user-designed content. (Out of curiosity, did you check a physical copy of the book, or did you rely on Google Books' digitalization? My trust in the accuracy of scanning was recently shaken, and I'm not sure I'd consider a pattern matching error during digitalization less likely than a misprint in the physical book.) Anyway, I'll leave a note at Wikipedia talk:ISBN, but I don't really expect any positive results.

I think we've come across about 3 or 4 books with a misprint in their own ISBN. It may be worth inserting an HTML comment to stop people "fixing" these, and I suppose we could also add it to AWB's list of typos -but people over there were getting a bit squiffy over the size of some of the replacement tables (for no good reason that I could see). I fixed about five thousand ISBN errors in the past year or so, and I found ten or twenty instances of invalid ISBNs printed in sources. In some cases, where the invalid ISBN actually worked as a link to worldcat.org, I inserted an HTML comment in the citation and used a parameter to suppress the error message (since the point of the linked ISBN is the help the reader locate the source, and that function was actually working). Yes there is; it immediately shows what source we originally cited, without the need to go through the web archive. I may yet list them all. I am just trying to fulfill the request "This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it."

In the instance "Disambiguation link notification for August 7" I fixed it.

I did state an opinion in the "V-2 and Bumper" section when I gave a reason for including Bumper as a sounding rocket. The talk page guidelines state " It is a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply." I feel that that example is within the realm of "common sense" when giving an explanation for including Bumper despite it having been a test vehicle.

As for the spelling of color I can only quote George Bernard Shaw "England and America are two counties separated by a common language."

@Observer6: Thanks for fixing that. The other unpaired bracket is a false positive in the first reference, where {{LSJ|e)pi/skopos1|ἐπίσκοπος|ref}} is used to produce a certain accent on the epsilon. I don't think the bot can reasonably resolve such uses. Huon (talk) 11:01, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

@Box73: You can use <noinclude> tags to add content to the template page that won't be added to the pages where the template is transcluded, such as sections for the template's references and notes.
