Coords bot conversion

@JJMC89: Question regarding this. As an example, the infobox for Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum now lists the coordinates twice. Will bot be deleting the secondary occurrence, or does this require human editor intervention? RM2KX (talk) 03:32, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

@RM2KX: The bot will not be removing any coordinates; it requires human editor intervention. — JJMC89 03:46, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
I've gone through uses of {{infobox presidential library}} and merged the duplicated coordinates. — JJMC89 04:04, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Thank you

For your edit to the page I created. It seems like it will be helpful for future times. Dinah Kirkland (talk) 18:38, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Converting coords for remaining Infobox settlement templates

Do you have time to figure out and convert coordinates in articles that transclude {{Infobox Parish PT}}? It looks like those are the vast majority if the remaining settlement articles. The rest can probably be done by hand. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:31, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

I previously set the bot up for that one but just never ran it. Running now. — JJMC89 19:50, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
Looks good. There appear to be a few more settlement templates to run through the bot: {{Infobox Province Spain}} and {{Infobox Syrian settlement}} are the ones I see right now.
Also, if you're in bot-running weekend mode, {{Infobox mountain pass}}, {{Infobox military installation}}, and {{Infobox government agency}} have pages ready to run. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:50, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
@Jonesey95: See User:JJMC89 bot/report/InfoboxCoordinatesParametersMigrator for the latest list of unresolved transclusions. — JJMC89 07:15, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
Manual cleanup, hooray! I'll get to the settlement ones today, since there are so many transclusions. I'd like to close the book on those soon. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:54, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

For this weekend, if you are around: {{Infobox mountain pass}}, {{Infobox London station}}, {{Infobox Manchester Metrolink station}}, {{Infobox motorway services}}, {{Infobox New York City Subway station}}, {{Infobox Pennsylvania historic site}}, {{Infobox power transmission line}}, and maybe one or two more that I forgot. I've been busy. Thanks! – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:43, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

I ran the bot and updated the report. — JJMC89 19:00, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

A few more are ready: {{Infobox Australia state or territory}}, {{Infobox Australian Electorate}}, {{Infobox Australian place}}, {{Infobox military conflict}}, {{Infobox Russian city district}}, {{Infobox Russian district}}, {{Infobox Russian federal subject}}. Some of them have probably not fully populated into the tracking category. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:18, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Last infobox template converted!

I have converted the last set of infobox templates, along with their documentation, to use |coordinates=. All of the templates on the Wikipedia:Coordinates in infoboxes project page are ready for the bot to convert. There are notes for the bot in each of the brown table rows. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:52, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

sig and novar

ok first things first i didn't realise my sig wasn't linking to my page i thought it was, but thanks for the info i will take another look at that later

right now my concern is the novar article, i appreciate your copy editing but i will be reverting it and making changes to the citations and references, my reasons are thus you have removed info that you say isn't cited, but you have opted to keep things that are also uncited according to the same logic

you see the entire article is cited from the same source, if you wish to dispute this than fine, im just telling you the facts and the way i see it you might as well have deleted the whole article by that logic .....end of the day if the article is good enough for the facts that you kept in - than it is good enough for everything else

and since i cannot cite myself, as a former 10 year novar employee (whilst it was Caradon Stelrad) that knows most of the facts added were true ....after all i wrote the thing with personal experiences in mind, it is the best source i can use

Changing the DS notice at Malcolm Nance

Please undo this change. It appears to remove the 1RR restriction on the article which was placed by an administrator. Not all ARBAP2 articles are under 1RR, only the ones that are specially marked. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 23:45, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Resolved. Why do people incorrectly use editnotices on talk pages? — JJMC89 00:46, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

You replaced Ds/editnotice with Ds/talknotice with this edit. I think the larger notice makes more of an impact on readers/editors, am concerned the integrated notice will be missed by editors. Would welcome a discussion as to the reasons behind your change. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 01:18, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Shearonink. WP:Editnotices (e.g. {{Ds/editnotice}}) are shown when editing a page, not reading an associated talk page. {{Ds/talk notice}} is the notice for associated talk pages. The editnotice is still displayed when editing the article. You could add |style=long if you prefer a longer notice on the talk page. — JJMC89 01:32, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
Ah ok, I didn't know that - always learning something new around here. The article receives so much attention from SPAs/POV-pushers that I did add that code, I think the talkpage does need a larger Editnotice/Warning. Shearonink (talk) 15:09, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Infobox Australian place

When your bot is importing infobox coords into {{coord}}, there's a problem if the infobox latitude field contains a hyphen ("minus sign" for south latitude). The bot is importing the hyphen into the coord template but is also adding "S" for south latitude, which results in an error message in the articles. I've fixed about 60 of these already, but more are popping up in Category:Pages with malformed coordinate tags. Can you program the bot to just ignore the hyphens, importing only the numerical part of the latitudes to {{coord}}? Deor (talk) 17:24, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

I'm aware of the issue. This is the only infobox I've seen that forces the absolute value of the inputs. I decided it was easier for me to just correct the ones with the negative coordinates as the bot converted them instead of creating a special script for this one infobox. I have been and will continue to monitor the category. You caught the ones that sat while I slept. — JJMC89 17:44, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
OK, understood. Deor (talk) 18:53, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Widowmaker

I have no clue why you decided to move a character from Image Comics to the ambiguation (comic book) when there was an actual comic book by the name Widowmaker by Marvel.★Trekker (talk) 05:58, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

@*Treker: I swapped Widowmaker (comic book) with Widowmaker (comics) and then reverted myself once I realized that I processed a different request than I had intended and this one didn't seem like a good idea. When I processed the request at WP:RM/TR, there were multiple requests from Karmeow for similar moves. (You may want to take a look at his outstanding requests there.) Karmeow moved the article from Widowmaker (Image Comics) to Widowmaker (comic book). If you want the article back at Widowmaker (Image Comics) I can do that. — JJMC89 06:21, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
Yeah that would make sense.
Or move it to (character), since it's about a character and the Comic Project recently revised their standards on stuff like this to be like that. If anything the Marvel Comcis article should be at (comic book).★Trekker (talk) 06:25, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
@*Treker: Moved to Widowmaker (character). — JJMC89 06:36, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
Thanks man, that makes much more sense.★Trekker (talk) 06:48, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Many, many sincere thanks for helping to improve the Tomasz Wójcik website.

I work mainly in German and Polish Wikipedia and have very little experience in the English-language Wikipedia. I want very much to save Tomasz Wójcik website from deletion. I had many difficulties in obtaining the necessary documents from the artist.

I would be infinitely grateful for your help in saving the website. Best greetings from Warsaw, Poland --Szczebrzeszynski (talk) 13:38, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

It is a draft, so it shouldn't be in danger of being deleted. You shouldn't be getting information fro the artist. Information in the article should be from third-party reliable sources. — JJMC89 19:34, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Expert testimony

Sorry. I had meant to apply that to another article, and I searched all day for it and couldn't find it. I am so embarrassed that I copied and pasted it to the wrong article. Thanks for the correction. MaynardClark (talk) 22:52, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

No problem! — JJMC89 22:53, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Infoboxes

  • How do we request new infoboxes and improved infoboxes?
  • How do we request a better and more searchable index for finding infoboxes appropriate for the Wikipedia articles we are developing?
  • My most frequently-started and frequently-developed articles are (a) university faculty, (b) journalists, (c) scientists, (d) thought leaders, including philosophers and other intellectual leaders, and (e) politicians and elected officials. MaynardClark (talk) 03:33, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
@MaynardClark: Chances are there is already an infobox that that will suit your needs. If there isn't, you could ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Infoboxes. For improvements, post on the infobox's talk page. To find infoboxes take a look at WP:IB, Category:Infobox templates, or this index. For your popular subjects (a) possibly {{Infobox academic}}, (b) {{Infobox person}}, (c) {{Infobox scientist}}, (d) possibly {{Infobox philosopher}}, (e) {{Infobox officeholder}}. For people I would look at Category:People and person infobox templates and use {{Infobox person}} when none of the others fit. — JJMC89 04:14, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
@JJMC89: Thank you. I found a long inclusive list of infoboxes and one that claimed to have 'all fields' of the Person infobox. I can 'surgically' insert any fields I want/need as long as they are 'in sequence' or 'in order' so that I can include all the information I want to display in the article's infobox. Clever, eh? Thanks, again! BTW, in the Carter article, the Defense claimed that the judge was a third cousin of the Roy family. MaynardClark (talk) 04:19, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Are the regex for the ISBN/PMID replacements in the BRFA still valid?

Specifically, those listed in Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/Magic_links_bot

  • Find: \b(ISBN)((?:[^\S\n]| |&\#0*160;|&\#[Xx]0*[Aa]0;)+)((?:97[89](?:-|(?:[^\S\n]| |&\#0*160;|&\#[Xx]0*[Aa]0;))?)?(?:[0-9](?:-|(?:[^\S\n]| |&\#0*160;|&\#[Xx]0*[Aa]0;))?){9}[0-9Xx])\b
  • Replace {{ISBN|\3}}
  • Find: \b(PMID)((?:[^\S\n]| |&\#0*160;|&\#[Xx]0*[Aa]0;)+)([0-9]+)\b
  • Replace {{PMID|\3}}

@Headbomb: I've modified them to use named groups, but they are otherwise the same (current find and replace). — JJMC89 01:26, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Yemeni Civil War infobox

There has been an edit war going on at Yemeni Civil War (2015–present) over the use of the above newly-created template and the standard template, {{Infobox military conflict}}. It strikes me that the new template, even if not a policy violation, is an inappropriate use of a template. Putting aside how ugly it looks when used in the article, it hard-codes sources, meaning you'd have to change the sources in the template rather than the article every time you wanted to do something that involved the rather extensive infobox. Am I wrong?--Bbb23 (talk) 15:52, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

@Bbb23: You're not wrong. I'm inclined to WP:T3 {{Yemeni Civil War infobox}} as a hardcoded instance of {{infobox military conflict}}. — JJMC89 16:09, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Geobox coor

FYI, the geobox coor series has been deleted at TfD. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 23:20, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
