Authority Control Template (Photographers' Identities Catalog)

Hi @JJMC89, I noticed you recently helped the addition of the autores.uy ID to the Authorities Control template. I was hoping you could offer me some advice or help outright. I'm more active on Wikidata, and not much here at Wikipedia, so I'm a bit unfamiliar the protocols here. I'm the editor of New York Public Library's database of photographers, Photographers' Identities Catalog (PIC), which has biographical data on some 125,000 photographers worldwide. I currently have about 15,000 unique IDs for my photographers in Wikidata, and was hoping to have these included in the Authority Control template. I have posted to the template talk page, but it's been a few weeks and was wondering if there were something more I should do to make a case for its inclusion (like, reaching out to you!). Thanks for your time, and any advice or assistance you could offer. Best Davidrlowe (talk) 20:37, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi David. Thanks for reaching out. For protected templates/modules:
  1. You should post on the template's talk page, which you did. Green tickY If there is consensus for the change or silence
  2. You can then request the edit using {{edit template-protected}}.
  3. The template/module is edited, and the documentation is updated.  Done

PVAMU money accusation

What makes you think the PVAMU paid someone to edit their page? I've never seen that before. Broadmoor (talk) 12:39, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Tagging

Just 12 hours ago I posted at WP:COIN#370 articles created by Jeremy112233 sockfarm that it would be difficult to tag the Jeremy112233 socks' articles. Yet I see you've done it already; well done. Do you have a script or bot that helps perform this? By the way this is no way chiding, but I should mention the tags at COIN just so people know it's been done. ☆ Bri (talk) 15:49, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

I meant to leave a message at COIN before I went to sleep, but I forgot. Tagging is easily done with AWB or a Python script. I used your article list but excluded disambiguation pages. — JJMC89 17:53, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Undisclosed Payments template

Hi JJMC89. Hope all is well. Just wanted to ask you a question regarding an update you made on the Kingpin Act, here. Is there an active discussion/investigation where the editor is accused of receiving payments for his creation? I had never seen this template before so I figured I'd ask. Thanks, MX () 16:46, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

JJMC89 bot: Replace article title to match file usage

Hi, The bot did this wrong replacement of a person name (Will Counts) by another (Elizabeth Eckford), probably because the former redirects to the latter. --Rinaku (t · c) 17:47, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks. I think the issue was already fixed. In any case, the task is not running. — JJMC89 18:31, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the help!

TriGranit COI

Hi! Can you tell me which statements do you consider to be biased in this article so I can improve/delete/replace them? Can you advise me on how to make the article better in any other way? Thank you for your help! Repassyz (talk) 11:05, 13 September 2017 (UTC)

SM Entertainment 2001 version

It was never going to be published. i made it as a little fan thing to project what SM would have looked like if the page came on on wikipedia's launch date (january 15, 2001.)-K-popguardian (talk) 20:25, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Replacing BSicons

Hi there. I've noticed JMC89 bot replacing BSicons used in route diagram templates that I have made, but often, I find it the icon 'names' being replaced are those which I have copied and pasted from the route diagram catalogue. Do you know if your contact for this initiative has been coordinating replacement of those names on WP:RDT/C, and therefore reducing workload and edits by JJMC89 bot? Thanks. --Natural RX 16:53, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

I don't know. Jc86035, see above. — JJMC89 17:04, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
@Natural RX: Yes, there are some places where I've renamed files and not updated the catalogues. I have updated most of them now. It may help—especially for the road and waterway catalogues—to click on the images, opening the file pages in a new tab and copying the titles from the file pages. New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello JJMC89, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
  • Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!

Technology update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225

General project update:

  • On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
  • Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:16, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

The false positive you reported

Hi, I noticed you reported the false positives:

When I load up those links, all I get is application error messages along with a HTTP code 500 indicating server error.—CYBERPOWER (Around) 22:49, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

Hey Cyberpower678. They should be
which is how they were on Equipollence (geometry) and how I entered them on the interface. (After reporting, I changed them to https.) — JJMC89 23:46, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
Then it looks like the site is misconfigured. The fact that it doesn't like legally sanitized URLs suggests their site needs work. I'll add the domain to the whitelist.—CYBERPOWER (Message) 00:38, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Non-free images

Hi JJMC89. Thanks for your help at Template talk:Portal. You've recently had to revert Buaidh twice for adding non-free images (here and here). The editor is adding lots of images to portals, etc. so I'm wondering if you've interacted with him/her before. If you have, perhaps you can gently remind him/her to check the licensing of files before adding them to any templates. Anything licensed as non-free should not be added, and anything whose licensing appears questionable can be asked about at WP:MCQ. If you've never interacted with this editor before, I can post something about this on his/her user talk. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:10, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi Marchjuly. I haven't interacted with Buaidh before. Please leave them a note. — JJMC89 14:43, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
