Thank You

I see where you have helped me on Tommy Byars article at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Tommy_Byars#cite_note-4. I really appreciate it. I have tried to correct the sources and added sources where there weren't any in the last section for Awards and recognition. I do not know how to remove a template where it tells me to add sources; however, I have added sources. I thank you for all that you have already done. I was very impressed with the changes and update, but I still need more help. Is it ready to submit again for review? Cjmodica (talk) 00:29, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

stages Podcast

Hi there,

So I am trying to understand why an article in FORBES is not enough reference to establish Stages Podcast. I was told the press release wouldn't work and so I tried to change it. did I not change it correctly? I worried that I didn't put it in correctly and couldn't figure out how to edit the body of what I wrote. it only seemed to let me go to REFERENCES.

the links below to the actual podcast were added because I was copying another podcast page (smartness) they list each episode and so I used that same format to enter Stages.

I know you guys are super busy over there and I am sorry to keep making mistakes but I am so confused as to why a Forbes article wouldn't work? thanks for any guidance you can offer Sfaheyfair (talk) 18:20, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

See WP:FORBESCON Most content on Forbes.com (Like your source) is written by contributors with minimal editorial oversight, and is generally unreliable. Theroadislong (talk) 18:31, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Hello again, I am looking at all the references from Forbes. There are 47 of them in use. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes#References
the author Jeryl Brunner writes for not only Forbes but The Wall Street Journal, InStyle, travel Leisure and O. Is there something you need to legitimize her that I can provide? Sfaheyfair (talk) 18:59, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Sorry I'm not clear what you are asserting here but Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources is pretty clear that it is not a reliable source. Theroadislong (talk) 22:14, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
what I was saying was that wikipedia used Forbes 47 times in other articles as references. I will find more articles and add them at another time.
thanks Sfaheyfair (talk) 22:20, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Need help related to my page

I am a new user so I am open to practical suggestions. My take on the issue is that as a freelance journalist, the notability of our work can only be shown in publishing in newspapers or other media platforms already verified by Wikipedia. The article is within WikiProject Journalism, and I have cited references from reliable and verified news platforms in Pakistan. As an emerging journalist from a developing country, it is difficult to find more notable sources for our work. Unlike Western world we lack digital resources or platforms where we can verify ourselves. However, I am open to suggestions and I would like someone to help me in editing the page, if possible. Thank you in Advance. Iammadnan1 (talk) 09:07, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Muhammad_Adnan Iammadnan1 (talk) 09:08, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
Articles are based on what reliable independent sources say about a topic, if there are no sources then we can't have an article. Theroadislong (talk) 09:36, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
I do agree. but for instance, this link of daily times newspaper (Already verified by Wikipedia) shows my bio
https://dailytimes.com.pk/writer/muhammad-adnan/
It states that "The writer is a journalist and researcher. He is a PhD student at Monash University School of Media, Film and Journalism. He can be reached on Twitter at @Iammadnan"
Now the articles can be classified as my own work, but not my bio, which is published by reputed news organizations. Iammadnan1 (talk) 10:01, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
Similar my work is verified on https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q57500196. That verified journalists profile all around the world.
Here is the link
https://muckrack.com/muhammadadnan
Now if these are not the signs of notability, then I don't think that Journalists from our part of the world can ever be recognized by Wikipedia. Iammadnan1 (talk) 10:06, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

Removing the tag from Dimitri Christakis page

I am a physician who occasionally uses wikipedia and I stumbled on this page (for Dimitri Christakis) today. The content was skimpy, so I added some material (I was curious about him having seen him talk about COVID), but I noticed a tag about concern about how the page was originally written. I find it unlikely anyone was paid to write this page and, anyway, Christakis seems to meet notability requirements. Is there any way to remove that tag? I am too much of a wikipedia newbie to know how to do that. 46.253.189.43 (talk) 09:49, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

User:Andcentra was an undisclosed paid editor hence the tag. Theroadislong (talk) 10:25, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

Need to post an article about Bhav Dhillon

Hi @Theroadislong I had created an article on Bhav Dhillon that you reviewed. Using a Template

I tried using a template on my draft for Tommy Byars for source # 6 in my draft, but not sure if I did it correctly. Would you please look at it and tell me what or if it is wrong and how to fix it? Cjmodica (talk) 02:08, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

@Cjmodica, I have fixed the reference you tried to add (I had to remove the URL as it was incomplete and therefore not very useful). Anachronist also added a properly-filled-out citation template using a newspapers.com clipping you apparently made. If you look at what we did, maybe you'll be able to fill out the rest successfully. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 14:39, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
Oh my; I hope I didn't mess up anything. I am really trying very hard to learn this. Cjmodica (talk) 14:48, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
I found several news articles at Newspapers.com that relate to Tommy Byars and his racing career. I believe you accepted newspapers.com as a reliable source, so I have added the articles in hopes that this will be sufficient. Please advise. Cjmodica (talk) 20:27, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

Draft: 2022 UCI Gravel World Championships

Hi Theroadislong,

I see you declined the draft for the page ``2022 UCI Gravel World Championships. I created it to be very similar to the page 2022 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships, and I do not see why that page is good enough but this one is not. Could you explain what is missing here? Sunil Bajpai article

Can you help me edit this phrase 'their implications in understanding the northward drift of the India tectonic plate' in the Sunil Bajpai article into 'their implications in understanding the northward drift of the Indian tectonic plate'? That is please change 'India tectonic plate' to 'Indian tectonic plate', the former is grammatically incorrect.

And can I know how and when the COI template can be removed?

BIG THANK YOU!

I just wanted to give one more big thanks to you for your support and help in getting my first article approved for Tommy Byars. You have given me the ambition to keep on trying and do more articles. It wasn't easy, but I was determined to accomplish it. I think I am ready to start another article, even though I still don't feel confident enough; however, knowing that I can find help, does give me some assurance. Help

I have edited the article :Draft: King Mats and i would appreciate better edit support.

I would love to resubmit it again how can i go about it? Thank you Luckimatic (talk) 21:04, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

It is pointless to reply to you, you have ignored all advice. Theroadislong (talk) 21:11, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
At first, i did not understand it very well but when i went back and read through all the advice, i got to understand the terms your were using to reply me, like i stated earlier.
Am kindly here for assistance. Thank you Luckimatic (talk) 21:17, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
And as a first-time wikipedia user, am learning how its done.
Kindly assist me on this. Thank you Luckimatic (talk) 21:19, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
Luckimatic see your talk page where you have been warned " This is your last chance. Specify the exact nature of your professional relationship to King Mats. Do not edit anything else until you have done this. This must be your very next edit. Draft:Reduce_Drinkware_Company edits made

Thank you for your consideration of Draft:Reduce Drinkware Company. I have removed the mention of retailers, which was only placed as support for NCORP guidelines (they are notable because they have multiple products on the shelves of thousands of retail locations). Only wiki links were included in these mentions. As for NCORP standards, please note the citation of a review of the company's product published recently in the New York Times. Also, please reference the following published NCORP pages that are product companies in the same category and of equal commercial availability/notability. It is my belief that the precedent set by these NCORP pages is sufficient to categorize Reduce as an NCORP: Stanley Aladdin Hydro Flask Thank you for your consideration. Williamsplex (talk) 14:54, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Williamsplex see other articles exist for that argument. WP:NCORP says the topic must have "been the subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." The New York Times article reports "The lid felt fussy, with multiple flips for the mouthpiece and the straw hole." but you haven't mentioned this? Wikipedia ONLY reports on what the reliable sources say, good and bad, you are NOT the right person to be creating this article. Theroadislong (talk) 15:12, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Please see this history

This article history shows that an editor has twice moved this to Draft: space, once almost immediately after your AFC acceptance. I have left a message on their talk page, a deliberately kind message, but I found their double move distasteful, even if they may have been correct in their rationale. You may wish to correct their actions. Or not. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 22:33, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for your thoughtful input I will watch with interest to see how it pans out. Theroadislong (talk) 07:36, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
I think what will happen is that it will be submitted again and accepted by someone else.
At least the editor who moved it twice is better educated now. Wikipedia wins whatever happens here. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 08:32, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Wetelo

Hi,

You left the next comment for our article:

"There is zero evidence here that this is a notable company. Theroadislong (talk) 08:36, 14 October 2022 (UTC)"

However, we have been registered for many years and have been on UpWork and Clutch for a long time. We have an excellent reputation there.

So please tell us what else we need to submit to approve our article.

Thanks. Yurii Firs 1 (talk) 09:37, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

I'm afraid that being "registered for many years and have been on UpWork and Clutch for a long time" confers zero notability. Theroadislong (talk) 09:40, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
So what else do we need to provide to get confirmation of the material? Yurii Firs 1 (talk) 10:01, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
We are not looking for confirmation, we are looking for multiple instances of reliable independent sources covering the topic in-depth. Theroadislong (talk) 10:02, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
So you want to say that UpWork and Clutch are not instances of reliable independent sources covering the topic in-depth? Or do we need some more proof from similar sources? Yurii Firs 1 (talk) 10:15, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
That's correct UpWork and Clutch are absolutely NOT instances of reliable independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 10:24, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Education Development Center Help - Advert

Hi @Theroadislong - thanks again for your help with EDC's page. We have a promotional warning label on our page still, but not sure why that's there. Could you help address possibly? Commandpitch (talk) 14:29, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Commandpitch (talk) 14:29, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Because the article reads like it was created by your marketing department. Content like "EDC maintains a staff composed of scientists, researchers, mathematicians, educators, and health and technology specialists. Staff expertise includes research, training, policy, curriculum and materials development, and education technology, and their activities range from small seed projects to large-scale national and international initiatives." is just blatant advertising and not appropriate. Hi there! I was just wondering, could you provide me some advice regarding how I should fix my Wikipedia Sandbox Page, so that it is not declined again? Thanks in advance. 0CE Brisbane Wiki (talk) 10:03, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Refresh my memory, please

Did that editor already accuse you of racism in the past, a few months ago? My memory of this is vague and hazy and untrustworthy, but it's there. I gave them a kind of "only warning" today, but if I already gave them an only warning months ago, I'll escalate things. -Floquenbeam (talk) 19:36, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Not for racism that I recall but they have reported me a number of times [1] and were told “you are not being bullied or harassed; do not whine or shout about bullying or harassment.” They have also been blocked for edit warring before. [2] and there is this [3] user has continued to edit war since to add more content, without using the request edit template as requested. Theroadislong (talk) 19:51, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Who is "we"? Accounts are strictly single person use. Your draft is mostly supported by primary sources and we have little interest in what they say, sources need to be secondary and independent. Theroadislong (talk) 11:00, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

I Believe You Have Made A Mistake When You Marked My Contribution As Lacking A Source

My own contribution used a pre-existing source and possessed proper citations. I am open to being proven wrong, however. 71.32.183.160 (talk) 20:55, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

No it didn't see here [4] there was no source included. Theroadislong (talk) 20:57, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
Oh, that is fair. Can we also discuss the fact that you removed a correction of mine of a factual mistake which the source directly contradicts? I read the source the person placed and it stated it was founded in 1968, not 1969. 71.32.183.160 (talk) 21:01, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
Actually, on second thought that was a failed submission of information. 71.32.183.160 (talk) 21:07, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
The source says it was established in 1969. Theroadislong (talk) 21:13, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
But later it states it opened its doors in 1968 71.32.183.160 (talk) 21:17, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

Tony Mitton

Many thanks for flagging that - I'd forgotten that rule! Main body links now removed. Other comments most welcome davidz Dz3 (talk) 15:12, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Sorry now realised which section you are talking about - I addressed the Halle archestra links yday. Will do this later. Thanks david Dz3 (talk) 08:29, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
Two external links now moved and made into refs. Ive left link to the personal website hanging. Ive not used it as a source. Seems wrong to entirely remove link to it though. Dz3 (talk) 08:41, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
On the notability of the awards I think CLPE IS notable (the early ones less so I agree). But don’t you think CLPE, the Halle orchestra collaboration, plus the range of reviews and the Guardian obit makes the author sufficiently notable? Dz3 (talk) 08:45, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
There are still three external links in the article, why is it so difficult to understand that we don't use them? See Wikipedia:External links. The 2014 Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE) poetry award does not appear to be notable, (no article) so doesn't help with notability. Theroadislong (talk) 09:02, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
Oh dear. Sorry for missing the obvious. But I am still puzzled about what to do with the personal website link - which as I said is NOT used as a source. Ive converted the Halle links to refs and reinstated the eternal links heading to make it all clearer.
On notablity Ive added ref to the CLPE award - other recipients of this award are very well known indeed (eg Valerie Bloom, Michael Rosen). Not sure how much this helps but surely points to moving in the right circles? And yes CLPE award should have its own entry and one day I might write one but first Id like to get this one over the wire. thanks david Dz3 (talk) 10:38, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
Adding a link to the award website doesn't help with notability. Theroadislong (talk) 10:41, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
Hello, I don’t want to get into a spat here about the notability of the CLPE award itself since the point at issue is the notability of Tony Mitton. The CLPE award is part of evidence for that but only part. In addition you have to consider having an obit in the Guardian newspaper, working with the Halle orchestra as well as a long list of publications (eg as reviewed in New York Times) some of which have been translated into other languages. Is all this not enough to establish notability? thanks david Dz3 (talk) 10:31, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
Quite possibly, the draft is waiting for a review, another reviewer will no doubt look at it soon. The CLPE award does nothing to help notability though. Theroadislong (talk) 10:48, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
On Mitton I wonder how many obits add sufficient notabilty? So far we have The Guardian, and PN Review. Not many people get such obits do they? How high is the notablity bar set?
On CLPE I note the following independent mentions of the award
https://www.sla.org.uk/article/dawn-woods/clippa-award-winner-is-announced/2574
11 Jul 2022 — The CLiPPA (Centre for Literacy in Primary Poetry Award) is the only award solely presented for published poetry for children in the UK.
https://poetrysociety.org.uk/news/joseph-coelho-wins-clippa-poetry-award/Joseph Coelho has been announced as the winner of the CLiPPA Poetry Award 2015 for his collection Werewolf Club Rules. The Award, run by CLPE, ...
but i am not working on an entry for the CLPE award! Despite your skepticism I suspect it would be a viable candidate for an entry. Dz3 (talk) 08:54, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
The Guardian obituary was in the "Other lives" section and written by a friend not a journalist, the CLiPPA award has no article about it so is not deemed to be a notable award, another reviewer will look at the draft eventually. Theroadislong (talk) 09:07, 20 October 2022 (UTC)

An easy draft to re-review?

I've had a go at Draft:Trussonomics; imo it can now be dumped into mainspace so that everyday editors can get to work on it. (I have WP:APAT, but let's go through channels; and a WP:HISTMERGE may be needed with Trussonomics.) There's a lot of other RS out there - which I have no interest whatsoever in looking at.

Paragon Cause draft

Hello, you left a comment on the draft for the page Paragon Cause, I'm perplexed why. You mentioned that Bandcamp is not an independent source, which you are correct however when referencing the release date of an album it is.

Why would you ignore stories (not interviews) posted in Exclaim! Magazine, CBC music, Canadian Newspapers, The East Magazine on the band and on their multiple East Coast Music Awards?

I'm not sure why reviewers are ignoring the quality positive references about this.

My question, why does this band not deserve a Wikipedia page yet the following bands without any references do Slowcoaster Jimmy Swift Band Tom Fun Orchestra

These bands also represent the Maritimes of. Canadian, have never had international press, no national major press (ie Exclaim) yet they all have pages? 24.212.231.146 (talk) 13:53, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

Hello there: We intend to have a page on Mr Pradyumna Kishore Bal who was a very notable personality from Odisha, India. He was an elected Member of Parliament of the Indian general election in 1977. Committed to social causes, Mr Bal founded the vernacular newspaper Pragativadi which is is considered to be one of the leading dailies coming out of Eastern India. Rohan Kumar Shah Wikipedia Page

Hello sir, Can you please tell me what can i do get my article not rejected and it has been rejected because all the claims done by me are true and are a part of my own personal bibliography Rohan Kumar Shah (talk) 19:29, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not interested in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 19:30, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

Secondly, with the use of all your great experience can you please tell me that what can i edit or change to have my article published? Honestly saying it is my dream to get my name on wikipedia. Sir can u please help me Rohan Kumar Shah (talk) 19:42, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

I also ensured to add the discography of the musician and referenced it from reliable sources. Thank you Lilsusanalex (talk) 07:57, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

If they reached the top 5 in African charts on music platform Anghami then the draft needs to say this and be supported by a reliable source. Theroadislong (talk) 08:06, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Can it be supported by 2 unreliable sources that are rarely used on Wikipedia? Lilsusanalex (talk) 08:26, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Clearly no! Theroadislong (talk) 08:28, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Help with draft

I have a draft on a music producer who is notable in the music production world, however the admins that have been declining are not familiar with this niche enough.

Can you help me out? For example: it has been declined because I listed major notable artists he has worked with and they said "he has to be notable in his own right, he does not inherit notability from saying he worked with artists"

to which I argue... how else does a music producer become notable if not by the caliber of the artists he has produced songs with? unfortunately music producers are not seen as notable as an artist is since the artists name is the public facing name on a piece of work released to the world.

Anyways here is the draft in question

Draft article on Sam Albatros

Dear theroadislong, I am writing to you in response to your recent rejection of the Sam Albatros wikipedia article. Sam Albatros has a Reuters article, a TV appearance to ERT Greece (the equivalent of BBC), 251 reviews on goodreads and dedicated articles from prestigious newspapers in Cyprus and Greece. Could you please review your decision and provide me with feedback? I am very keen to support Sam Albatros, since we don't have many queer writers/artists in the greek-speaking world. Thanks! 83.244.224.106 (talk) 11:49, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

The draft Draft:Sam Albatros was declined, NOT rejected, please note that Goodreads, YouTube and blogs are not considered to be reliable sources for supporting notability. Theroadislong (talk) 11:59, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

hi. i’ve edited the article and looked at the criteria for notability, but i don’t understand why the artist isn’t notable enough. i’ve mentioned and referenced several sources that talk about him. he recently had an album that charted number one on norways official music chart, and has released music under a major record label in norway. what more can i do to the article to make it pass? i would highly appreciate some help into the right direction :) Killertunekillsme (talk) 16:37, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

How to improve my rejected article

Hi theroadislong

I submitted this article about Bidhubhusan Guru for review and it was rejected due to lack of references.

Draft:Bidhubhusan Guru

He was a very eminent writer of that time (1920-1976). As you can see in the article, other litterateurs of that time mentioned in the article have wikipedia pages for them. Even ex chief minister Nandini Satpathy was his student. Unfortunately, he died very young due to a medical condition at 52 in 1973.

Even Srinibash Udgata who later won the padma shri was a student of Bidhubhusan Guru and later became his brother in law. Unfortunately, Tusra, Bolangir being a rural region and even more backward those days, no digital evidences exist as in evidences on websites. That is why recent movements are in the state to revive his legacy and create awareness. There might be one local news website coverage I will try to find but that too is in the local language. However, Physical paper evidences are there. We do have scanned copies of all his certificates, book covers , letters from heads of state etc. But those too are in the local language Odia and I dont know if they can be used as references here. That is why, I believe this wikipedia page should be approved to create awareness about him for the future generation. I am from the district headquarter city Balangir where these meetings, book launches and awareness campaigns are being held.

Please help me in this. It would be a great contribution from my side to my region.

Expecting your cooperation.

Thank You Satwik Acharya 00:42, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

I had to ask a question that you commented in the article "Draft: Satish Jain (Director)"

Hi there, did you see my reply to your rejection on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:FabelhafteFort%C3%A6llingerForUnge ? FabelhafteFortællingerForUnge (talk) 21:03, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

Yes... it was a decline though NOT a rejection. Each country's Wikipedia has different guidelines, for instance the English Wikipedia would not accept ribewiki.dk as a reliable source. Theroadislong (talk) 21:10, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

Edit clash (again). I've moved it to draftspace as probably notable, per your comment. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 13:52, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

Yes should be acceptable with a little work thanks. Theroadislong (talk) 13:58, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

Hello Theroadislong. You may remember you accepted my draft for this article in July. If you would be so kind, I would like you to review it for a B-Class rating. I have provided my reasoning on the talk page. I know I could assess it myself, but I created and worked on the bulk of the article and do not believe I would make an impartial judgement. If you cannot or your time is taken up with other projects, I completely understand. Have a good day. Tim O'Doherty (talk) 14:25, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

I have no experience of assessing articles despite many years of editing here, I suggest you are bold and assess it yourself you have made a good case on the talk page, just go for it! Theroadislong (talk) 14:28, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

Draft: Wonderschool

Hey!

Why are you decided that my text is promotional?

Can you write reasons and things that I need to improve?

Thank you in advance! Jalapeno guacamole (talk) 09:40, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Your draft includes the sentence "The company focus on providing end-to-end in-home solutions" see WP:SOLUTIONS the rest of the draft is just a report of routine funding rounds. Theroadislong (talk) 10:06, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
But that is the point of the history part, to tell about the company's actions, that includes funding. I've changed the sentence you mentioned. What should I add? Jalapeno guacamole (talk) 10:30, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia is NOT for merely providing information. Routine funding rounds do not help to establish notability. A Wikipedia article about a company must summarise what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about them, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable company. Theroadislong (talk) 10:34, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Willem Cornelis Bauer

I removed all sources ( ref. links) on the page I am creating on the English Wikipedia for W.C. Bauer, see Draft:Willem Cornelius Bauer. These are mostly in Dutch, I can copy them back from the original Dutch Wikipedia source. But for the English reading persons, who don´t understand Dutch it will not make any sense. Please comment Mschapink (talk) 16:18, 6 November 2022 (UTC)

Sources don't need to be in English but they do need to be foramtted for the English language. Theroadislong (talk) 16:29, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
Difficult exercise, I am trying to copy them, but the input with ref.link with the Wiki editor is not working, that is not a big help. The formating into english is giving me a big headache. Lets see how to progress. The item seems interesting to be on the English Wikipedia, but it is a not managable for me to copy all the sources mentioned on the Dutch Wikiepdia. Is there a easy way of doing this, reading through all the source codes is impossable for me to manage, thanks again for your help, otherwise delete this and people have to get the text on the Dutch Wikipdia and have it translated with Google Translate. Mschapink (talk) 16:57, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
If you put the Dutch sources back in again, I can attempt to format them for English Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 17:05, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
o.k. I will try, it is impossible for me to undo the action I did ( has to be done manually). Lets stop this exercise, it is useless. Thanks again for the help Mschapink (talk) 17:07, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
I have manually added some of the references and accepted. Theroadislong (talk) 17:45, 6 November 2022 (UTC):I copied most relevant links with sources, which are also in use at the same lemma on the Dutch Wikipedia to the English Wiki page Willem Bauer it seems to me that all sources are sufficient to remove the logo : This article needs additional citations for verification. greetings Martijn Mschapink (talk) 18:13, 10 November 2022 (UTC
No there is still a LOT of unsourced content at Willem Cornelis Bauer. Theroadislong (talk) 19:22, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
All info which is put in the text by me, on the English version on Wikipedia is eiher retrieved by me from sources out of literature ( see the books who are mentioned ) or information on the world wide web on Willem Cornelis Bauer. Can you give me examples, what information in the present text needs more source(s), greeting Mschapink (talk) 20:07, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Resubmitted

First of all, thanks for your constructive criticism about https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Jack_Mizzi, thanks to which I spent these last 6 hours editing the article. I endeavoured to be as objective as possible, removed all links and added references as you advised. One of the references I added, exists on Facebook but it is a short documentary that was produced by a reputable journal (they have a Wikipedia page as well and in Malta they are very respected), I added references to the publishers in the article. Unfortunately they only published the video on Facebook. If you think this should be removed I will remove it including the part where they said that Jack is a prodigy, which is in the title of the video. I took great care to be objective and to the best of my knowledge I attempted to remove any phrase which could impinge the objectivety. This does not mean I did not make mistakes, if I did, kindly highlight them. ATM622 (talk) 01:43, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Following my discussion with the reviewer, I gave prominence to Mizzi's participation in the World Youth Chess Championships including a full explanation that you can find at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Greenman#Draft%3AJack_Mizzi ATM622 (talk) 09:51, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

There was only one external think and it was removed.

With regards your comment on #88, the criteria are participation. Then you ignore #5 in the adult small nations? which was quoted in all Malta news papers? I leave it to your judgement after all. ATM622 (talk) 19:29, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

I will leave it to another reviewer, you DO still have an external link after the first paragraph to https://ratings.fide.com/profile/5602521 which needs to be removed. Theroadislong (talk) 19:36, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

The link came from the FIDE template that I was advised to use via WP:CHESS. I checked many profiles and they have it. However I do not want to argue and removed the entry altogether. It is disappointing that I was asked to use a template (ok it was not you) and then it was not in good style. ATM622 (talk) 19:50, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

I have moved the external link to the correct location ie in it's own section and not in the body of the article. Theroadislong (talk) 20:13, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

Accept my apologies. I thought there was no place for external links whatsoever. Your help is appreciated. Thanks. ATM622 (talk) 20:29, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

I am the author of this draft page. You write "but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest". My relationship is one of expertise, having taught courses, written books, and led research on the subject of Computers and Society for 50 years, so I do not consider this a conflict of interest, but rather as a qualification to author an encyclopedia article. 2600:4041:79C2:6200:B40B:5181:FFCA:37CB (talk) 15:24, 14 November 2022 (UTC)

Draft:Ikorta

Hello, I'm not sure how my draft of the article Ikorta is "just blatant advertising" when it is written in what I would consider to be quite a neutral tone, especially considering that I have been volunteering for the parent NGO, Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Hub, for which I properly declared a COI before drafting the article. There are several solid references, and it is strongly factual and doesn't exhibit opinions or persuasion of any sort. Could you please elaborate on how a factual article on a small jewelry-making organization started and run by war refugees to support their community is "just blatant advertising" and how it can be improved to meet the standards it purportedly lacks? Thank you Adventures In Accuracy (talk) 16:54, 17 November 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia is NOT for merely providing information. A Wikipedia article about an organisation must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about them, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organisation. Marcus Campbell artist

This person is a fake and a grifter. I know him personally. The books are self published, paid for by him. References don’t work. I noted that you requested a speedy deletion in 2018. You should do this again (I’m sorry I don’t understand how editing works on here). He is not an artist either, no training, no exhibitions, any online reviews are from ‘friends’. Truthtalker13 (talk) 17:53, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

Sent to WP:AFD. Theroadislong (talk) 18:05, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
The Sargeson prize which Mr Campbell says he won in 1981 did not exist then. Frank Sargeson only died in 1982 and a fellowship in his name was set up in 1987 which included a literature prize.

From the Frank Sargeson Wikipedia entry: In 1987, the Trust established the Sargeson Fellowship, a New Zealand literary award, to provide assistance to New Zealand writers. Some writers who have received the award include Janet Frame (who was, appropriately, the first writer to receive the award in 1987),[5] Alan Duff and Michael King. From 1987 to 1996 the award was paid for by the Trust, but after funding ran out, law firm Buddle Findlay took over sponsorship from 1997 to 2013 and the fellowship was renamed the Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellowship.[29][30] Since 2013, the fellowship has been sponsored by law firm Grimshaw & Co and it is now known as the Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship.[31] Truthtalker13 (talk) 19:14, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

You could mention this on the deletion discussion page. Theroadislong (talk) 19:16, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
