Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Agnes Nandutu, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:26, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Agnes Nandutu

[edit]

Hello, Alvinategyeka. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Agnes Nandutu".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Lapablo (talk) 12:24, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rose Kirumira moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Rose Kirumira, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. GirthSummit (blether) 14:23, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - just a personal note to explain in a bit more detail why I moved this to draft. Your article was about a living person, but it didn't contain any sources at all - our verifiability require that information is referenced to reliable sources, and with biographies of living people it's particularly important. You can carry on working on the article as a draft until it's ready to publish, with reliable sourcing demonstrating that the subject is notable, and then move it back into article space when it's ready. Hope this makes sense, let me know if you have any questions. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 14:26, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Copyediting errors

[edit]

I see that you are creating many articles, and you continue to make the same errors in capitalization, spacing, etc. Names of schools and companies are capitalized

  • Bishop Comboni College Kanungu (and if Kanungu is a place and not part of the name, then a comma before)
  • Makerere University
  • British American Tobacco, Uganda
  • Caltex, Uganda
  • "she won with a two(2) vote margin" need a space between two and (2)

You also persist in creating hyperlinks in the body of the article, for example:

Once you start an article with a name (Pamela Nasiyo Kamugo) use only the surname for all subsequent mentions.

Please consider returning to your drafts and your articles to improve the copyediting errors. David notMD (talk) 21:21, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, I'll have to rectify the errors. Thanks for the advice Alvinategyeka (talk) 21:27, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Another observation: you have a tendency toward long sentences, separating sections by commas, when short sentences would be better. See this especially in the Education sections, where you do all the schools as a run-on sentence. I cleaned up Lucy, but will not do the other. Gook luck with the applications. David notMD (talk) 19:54, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks let me work on the other too. And I will make sure I use short sentences in my subsequent articles Alvinategyeka (talk) 20:33, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gerald Kankya, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Abaasa moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Abaasa, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) In addition, there appears to be a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 16:02, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Joram Muzira Job moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Joram Muzira Job, is not suitable as written to remain published. Stub template

[edit]

Hello Alvinategyeka,

I noticed you marked an article as a stub using the {{stub}} template. Did you know that there are thousands of stub types that you can use to clarify what type of stub the article is? Properly categorizing stubs is easy to do via the StubSorter tool, and is important to the Wikipedia community because it helps various WikiProjects to identify articles that need expansion.

If you have questions about stub sorting, don't hesitate to ask! There is a wealth of stub information on the stub sorting WikiProject, and hundreds of stub sorters. Thanks! MadameOctavian (talk) 10:18, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But sir whats wrong, you usually abuse my efforts. Why do u always move every article i write.
Why everything i write. You people abuse us and abuse our efforts only because youre foreign admins and what we write cant make sense for you. You should know that you people usually abuse our efforts while leaving the inadequate articles you write in your countries pass free.
For real tell me if its not malice, why would u always choose to do this everytime??
Okay be an example and show me an article you have ever written with origin in Africa, and i see all the sufficient refrences you cited.
My biggest problem with you is that you just come up, tag, delete or move an article without even putting sufficient time to read through or understand whats in them and if everything has been exhausted.
I know you'll brand me biased but i would like to also advise you that you should be polite in the way you handle our efforts.
You just dont trash everything someone writes. I have written arricles for 3 years in Uganda, so don't even start thinking of telling me ive not followed the rules.
You people are insuferable! You dont know what your trashing does to us.
I may not ever write articles again but revise your ways. If you wanted only artocles writen by you people, you shouldn't have introduced us to these Wikimedia competitions and encouraged us write articles. I just think you think we are soo dumb. Hello Alvinategyeka. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Alvinategyeka. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Alvinategyeka|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Liz Read! Talk! 01:53, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is the problem that we are always accused of. First of all, i don't have any financial benefits am getting from anyone to edit wikipedia!. No one pays me. You may intrest yourself in all the edits ive made for the last 3 years and tell me if there was money involved or its mpney that was the motivation. Please don't belittle me to that standard.
Fact is, i dont know whats wrong with wikipedia Admins, the threshold you use and double standards cant be understood.
I always write article about all topics in Uganda but you treat topics such as politics differently from other topics, forexample an MP or councilor i write about may have only 2 citations and is allowed, but when i write about a celebrity in our entertainment scene, you quickly label it biased! Why do you do this?
Tell us collectively that you dont consider our entertainment industry as a whole as people we shouldn't write about, otherwise when you tell me that am paid you make me not understand what you're meaning or what you want to achieve by this!!
Let me tell you, most of us Wikimedians in Wikimedia community user group Uganda have one goal, to make sure that brands or personalities we deem should be on a platform like wikipedia get that platform! In any case, do you think i have the time to look for people, demand money from them to write about them?? Thats ridiculous.
Please tell me other things, delete the article all together, or block me if you want but don't again take me cheap to that level!! Why would someone even pay fpr an article? How will they even know that someone writes articles on wikipedia? If thats the practice in your countries, this side its diferent, wikipedia isn't that popular!, we sacridice our time, to write about topics that interest us and we feel are worthy being on such a platform, nevertheless when writing, we are guided by articles about european or American personalities or brands which are not any different from the ones this side. Also, you should know that what we consider big websites here and we quote them, may not necessarily look big to you. Ive told you mind, if you feel you still don't get my point en you feel am paid, block me. Truthfully i wont get any regrets because, i usually write when i want to and i thought Wikipedia had interest for information from across the globe. The only problem i see is that you Admins from the other side don't get very well or appreciate the angle from where we write or create or our perspective or the African media. Going forward, you should increase the number of Wikimedia Admins from Africa, maybe they'll have appreciation for how things play out this side. Forexample why do we have American Admins who haven't edited wikipedia for even 2 years as Admins and Africa as a whole has a very small number of Admins? Me myself have edited for 3 years and have won a number of Wikimedia challenges like wikigap in my country and wikimedia commons challenges. You may interest yourself in checking all my contributions both on wikipedia and wiki commons. Alvinategyeka (talk) 09:20, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Cannot find sufficient sources to establish notability per WP:NORG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:11, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop the excitement. Always look deep into an article before u take such actions. I know you're working hard to become an admin but that doesn't mean you should parade your excitement. Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. Control copyright icon Hello Alvinategyeka! Your additions to Rebecca Margaret Nyegenye have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. Information icon Hi Alvinategyeka! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Joshua_Sikhu_Okonya [1] that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

The page Draft:Joram Muzira Job has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Question from Casafer1971 (18:58, 21 November 2023)

[edit]

Hello Alvin, i'm insterested in creating a page for myself to showcase my achievements. Is this something i can do myself? --Casafer1971 (talk) 18:58, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

.Hello Casafer1971,
While it’s great that you’re interested in creating a Wikipedia page to showcase your achievements, it’s important to note that Wikipedia has specific rules and guidelines for creating pages.
Firstly, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and its primary purpose is to provide neutral, reliable, and verifiable information. It’s not intended to be a platform for self-promotion or personal advertising.
Secondly, Wikipedia has a notability guideline. This means that a topic must have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. So, if you’re considering creating a page about yourself, you need to ensure that you meet these notability criteria.
Lastly, creating a Wikipedia page requires a good understanding of Wikipedia’s policies and guidelines. You need to ensure that the content is neutral, verifiable, and does not contain original research.
If you’re new to Wikipedia, it might be helpful to start by contributing to existing articles before attempting to create a new page. This can help you understand the Wikipedia community’s expectations and standards.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
Kind regards,
Alvin Alvinategyeka (talk) 20:16, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How can i add someone on wikipedia by search --Armankhan0007 (talk) 13:29, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, AemanKhan0007
I don't quite sufficiently understand your question, however, i will try to explain to you briefly how adding someone on Wikipedia can be done and how he/she can come up when you make a google search..
the first thing is to write an article about that person if he is notable and not already on Wikipedia, make sure the person passes the Notability test and you cite and reference the article sufficiently,.
when the article is reviewed by an Admin, it will automatically show up when you search it. there is no other magic to it. The Web crawler will pick it up automatically after it has been reviewed. However, even before review, a quick search directly on Wikipedia will bring up the article though a search on google wont bring it up if it has not been reviewed and automatically picked by the Web Crawler.
If you have a follow up question, feel free to add it here..

[edit]

Hello, As we are new to setting up our company Wiki page we were hoping to make sure we are all set up properly. Not sure how the mentorship works but we would be happy to learn any important tips to our edits. Thanks, Mark --Audiophileusa (talk) 00:42, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mark,
I appreciate your enthusiasm in wanting to contribute to Wikipedia. It’s a great platform for sharing knowledge. However, it’s important to remember that Wikipedia is not a promotional tool and has strict guidelines against conflicts of interest.
As you’re affiliated with Audiophileusa, directly creating or editing a Wikipedia page about your company could be seen as a conflict of interest. But don’t worry, there are still ways you can contribute:
Propose Changes: If you believe that the article about your company needs to be updated or corrected, you can propose these changes on the article’s talk page.
Disclose Your Affiliation: Be transparent about your affiliation with Audiophileusa when proposing changes.
Contribute to Other Areas: There are millions of other articles on Wikipedia that could benefit from your expertise.
Contributing to these articles can help you understand Wikipedia’s guidelines and build your reputation within the community.
Seek Help: If you’re unsure about anything, don’t hesitate to ask for help. The Wikipedia community is very supportive and there are always experienced editors willing to assist.
Remember, the goal of Wikipedia is to share neutral, verifiable information. Your understanding and respect for this goal is what makes Wikipedia a valuable resource for everyone. Alvinategyeka (talk) 07:06, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  2. Avoid Descriptive Adjectives: Try to keep the article name short and avoid using descriptive adjectives.
  3. Unique: Make sure the article name is unique. You can check this by searching for the name on Wikipedia before creating your article.

Question from Twig.algo on User:Twig.algo/sandbox (06:59, 19 February 2024)

[edit]

Hi! Hope you find yourself well. I have a quick question: I just made this article, and I was wondering if you could review it and help me know if there is something I need to improve. Overall, is it a good article? Thank you so much in advance. --Twig.algo (talk) 06:59, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Twig.algo,
I’m glad you’ve created a draft article on Fábio Nascimento. It’s a fascinating topic. However, before you submit it for review, I recommend you make some enhancements to make it more compatible with Wikipedia.
Here are some aspects that you should pay attention to:
  • Sources: You need to add citations to trustworthy, independent sources that support your content. Sources are crucial for verifying the information and establishing the notability of the topic. You can use the Citation Tool for Google Books or the Citation Generator to help you create citations.
  • Structure: You need to follow the standard structure of a Wikipedia article. It should start with an introduction that summarizes the topic and explains why it is notable, followed by sections that provide more details, and end with appendices such as references and related articles. You can use the Article Wizard or the Article Development Template to help you create a well-structured article.
  • Style: You need to use formal and neutral language. Avoid using informal words and personal pronouns, such as “I”, “we”, or “you”. You can use the Manual of Style or the Cheatsheet to help you follow the style guidelines.
  • Format: You need to use proper formatting for headings, links, lists, tables, and images. You can use the Visual Editor or the Editing Toolbar to help you format your article.
If you need more guidance, you can refer to the Your First Article page or the Content Policies and Guidelines page. You can also ask for help from other editors on the Teahouse or the [Help Desk].
Remember, the Wikipedia community is very supportive and there are always experienced editors willing to assist. Don’t be discouraged by the feedback, but use it as an opportunity to learn and improve. I hope you’ll continue to contribute to Wikipedia and share your knowledge with the world. Question from John R Spender (06:37, 28 February 2024)

[edit]

Hi Alvin,

Could you please help me to set up my page for Wikipedia? --John R Spender (talk) 06:37, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello John,
Creating a Wikipedia page involves several steps. Here’s a simplified guide:
  1. Create an account: You’ll need a Wikipedia account to create a new page. If you don’t have one, you can create it here .
  2. Start small: Before creating your own page, it’s a good idea to make some edits to existing Wikipedia articles. This will help you understand how Wikipedia works and what kind of content is acceptable. You can start by editing a random article.
  3. Check notability: Make sure the subject you want to write about meets Wikipedia’s notability guidelines. If the subject isn’t considered “notable”, or if it doesn’t have reliable third-party sources, it may not be suitable for a Wikipedia article. Read more about Notability here
  4. Search for duplicates: Before you create a new page, make sure there isn’t already a page on the same topic. You can use the search bar at the top of Wikipedia to check.
  5. Prepare your content: Write a draft of your article in your own user space or in a Word document. Make sure you’re not copying text from other sources and that you’re citing all your information. Here’s a guide on how to write your first article.
  6. Create the page: Once your draft is ready, you can create a new page by typing the title of your new article into the search bar and clicking “Go”. If the page doesn’t exist, you’ll see an option to create it. Here is more on editing.
  7. Submit for review: After you’ve created your page, it’s a good idea to submit it for review. Experienced Wikipedia editors will check your page and give you feedback. You can submit your article for review here.
Remember, creating a Wikipedia page is a responsibility. Make sure your information is accurate, unbiased, and cited properly. Good luck!

Hello Sarah,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble editing the Wikipedia page. Here are a few suggestions that might help:

  2. Format your citation correctly: It’s important to format your citation correctly using one of the accepted citation styles. You can find more information on how to do this in Wikipedia’s citation guide.
  3. Be patient: If you’re a new editor, your edits may be subject to review by more experienced editors. This process can take some time, so don’t be discouraged if your edit isn’t immediately accepted.
  4. Ask for help: If you’re still having trouble, consider asking for help on the article’s talk page or at the Teahouse, a friendly space where new editors can ask questions and get help from experienced Wikipedians.

Question from Onemarsyboi (09:19, 15 March 2024)

[edit]

Hello I am new to editing My ip address got blocked I was making an edit i made a simple spelling mistake --Onemarsyboi (talk) 09:19, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Onemarsyboi, I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your IP address being blocked on Wikipedia. Blocks are a measure used to protect Wikipedia from possible improper activity in breach of editorial policies. Here are some steps you can take:
  1. Understand the reason for the block: The reason for your block may be found in your block log. It could be due to a problem with your editing or Wikipedia behavior, unintended triggering of anti-vandalism systems, or use of a VPN or other anonymizing proxy service.
  2. Appeal the block: If you believe the block is a mistake, you can appeal it by adding {{unblock|your reason here}} to your talk page.
  3. Create an account: If you have never edited Wikipedia before and/or do not have an account, you may need to create one. This will normally allow you to edit despite the block on your IP address. If you are currently blocked from creating an account, consider requesting one at Wikipedia:Request an account.
  4. Check your internet settings: If you’re using a VPN or another service that uses proxies, these can be blocked to protect site security. Please disconnect from the service before trying to edit Wikipedia again.
Remember, Wikipedia is a collaborative platform and it’s important to respect its rules and guidelines. If you continue to face issues, don’t hesitate to ask for help from the Wikipedia community. Alvinategyeka (talk) 11:32, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

how to edit introductory page --UBWT (talk) 12:37, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello UBWT, editing a Wikipedia page, including the introductory page, is quite straightforward. Here are the steps:

  3. Make your changes: Correct any errors, add new information, or improve the existing content. Be sure to maintain a neutral point of view and cite your sources.
  4. Preview your changes: Click “Show preview” to see how your changes will look before you save them.
