  • After over a decade of silence, the WikiProject Aviation newsletter is making a comeback under the name The WikiEagle. This first issue was sent to all active members of the project and its sub-projects. If you wish to continue receiving The WikiEagle, you can add your username to the mailing list. For now the newsletter only covers general project news and is run by only one editor. If you wish to help or to become a columnist, please let us know. If you have an idea which you believe would improve the newsletter, please share it; suggestions are welcome and encouraged.
  • On 16 December, an RfC was closed which determined theaerodrome.com to be an unreliable source. The website, which is cited over 1,500 articles, mainly on WWI aviation, as of the publishing of this issue.
  • Luft46.com has been added to the list of problematic sources after this discussion.
  • The Jim Lovell article was promoted to Featured Article status on 26 December after being nominated by Hawkeye7.
  • The Raymond Hesselyn article was promoted to Good Article status on 4 December after being nominated by Zawed.
  • The Supermarine Sea King article was promoted to Good Article status on 22 December after being nominated by Amitchell125.

Sincik[edit]

Hi, Template:Villages in Sincik District and Category: Sincik is up for deletion because User:Semsûrî redirected the village stubs. I would imagine that the stubs could be expanded? This one had 570 people in 2019. We have British hamlets with only a few people! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:46, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, ich habe von deinen Userboxen bemerkt, dass du DE-4 bist, und dachte dass ich die hier besprochenen Probleme, die dir nicht klar waren, vielleicht besser auf Deutsch erklären kann. Erstens, eine Entschuldigung, dass dein Hook so rasch entfernt wurde - du hast zwar recht, dass man eventuelle Probleme hätte früher finden sollen, aber es gibt leider nur eine kleine Gruppe, die bei WP:DYK tätig ist, also ist es oft der Fall, dass Probleme erst beim eigentlichen Erscheinen auf der Hauptseite gefunden werden. Und es gibt zwar ein großes hier, das das Entfernen begründet.

Die Sprachprobleme, die ich in der ersten Hälfte meines Kommentars erwähnt habe, sind relativ oberflächlich. Das viel größere Problem ist, dass das Hook mit dem nachfolgenden Text anscheinend nicht übereinstimmt. Laut dem Hook sei dieses Restaurant außergewöhnlich, weil es "throughout its lifespan" (während seiner [ganzen] Lebensdauer) einzigartig weitergegeben wurde - nicht "from father to son" oder "through purchase by individuals or companies," sondern "from master to apprentice...from chef de cuisine to sous-chef." Aber danach folgt eine detaillierte Geschichte in der wir von mehreren Eigentumsübergängen lesen, von denen es drei Beispiele gibt, wo das Restaurant zwar einem Sohn (oder in einem Fall irgendeinem anderen Verwandten) weitergegeben wurde, und ein Beispiel, wo es privat verkauft wurde. Im Vergleich dazu gibt es kein einziges Beispiel dieser angeblichen Chefkoch-Souschef-Erbemethode.

Also ist es klar, dass irgendetwas hier nicht stimmt. Aber ohne Türkischkenntnisse konnte ich die Quellen nicht durchschauen, um die Situation zu klären.   • Danke vielmals für die Erklaerungen in Deutsch. Ich kann verstehen, dass Probleme in meinem Text gewesen sind, die ich übersehen hatte. Es ist undenkbar, zu verstehen, dass Hooks nach Erscheinen auf der Hauptseite entgernt werden, was auch eine Diskussion unter den Verantwortkichen erzeugt, wie in diesem Fall. Ich finde es unangebracht, dass der DigitalAge beschuldigt wird. Desweegen meine Reaktion, für die ich den Rat WP:CIVIL ableehne.
