Marcus Simaika

Hi Melcous. I hope you are well. I am curious to know why you reverted the two edits I did this afternoon. I quoted a credible reference (listed as number two in my reference list). Why do you not like it? One of the edits is to do with Marcus Simaika's date of death. I am not sure why you disliked my edits.

Kindest regards Youssef — Preceding unsigned comment added by Youssef simaika (talkcontribs) 14:11, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Melcous. I hope you are well. Now that you have so kindly sorted out the citations and that there are no more citations to be added to the Marcus Simaika page, can you please remove the 'page issues' tag which greets any reader of the page ( and which states that additional citations are needed for vetification'). David Bain talk page

Hi Melcous. The only reason I deleted that section re Mr Maggoo was because all the sections preceding it had been deleted. I see you have reinstated what I deleted and would ask that either you reinstate all the other sections that have been deleted or else delete that section I deleted. Mr Maggoo (talk) 20:12, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

So it was a "bot" that deleted those sections. Just so happens that same bot didn't delete that section re Mr Maggoo. I thought Turtletop had deleted those sections, but apparently nothing to do with him. Thanks for the heads up. Mr Maggoo (talk) 00:59, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

re: "Belize Crocodile"

 Dear, melcous

Hello, melcous. I was just asking how the subject Belize Crocodile is covered in the "Morelet's Crocodile" article. According to http://www.arkive.org, they are two different species. Thanks, and be sure to respond as soon as possible!

hey there, I think the John kaefer page has had the 'resume tone' removed, so can you please remove the warning boxes or advise what else needs to be corrected? Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:99D1:8B00:ACFC:E0FD:79BF:DEE9 (talk) 02:17, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

I didn't notice that. However, I think Belize Crocodile should be the title of the page, so that readers will get a sense of their range once they read the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qwertsar (talkcontribs) 15:54, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Marcus Simaika

Hi Melcous, Thank you for your reply to my query. You kindly requested me to specify two citations in my text on Marcus Simaika.

The first one refers to my statement that "he was the only Egyptian to reach such high rank" in the Egyptian State Railways. This is a fact since no Egyptian ever reached his position before or after his time. The position which Simaika occupied in the Railway was only reserved to European members of staff. I inserted "2" as my reference (since this particular piece of information was stated in the book listed in my text as reference number two).

The second citation which you requested related to the date of death of Simaika. I inserted "2" as my reference. I meant by this that reference number two (in my list of references) is my source of information regarding the date of death of Simaika.

In the light of my explanation, can you now please revert the changes you made to my text and remove the note which says that additional citations are required to verify the text?

Thank you very much

Hello Melcous, I saw your message and I take it in account about my links on metallography article. Nevertheless I think the 3 pictures which i added were relevant. The polishing machine, the cutting machine and the diamand disc. Preparing specimens is so important in metallography and it is very specific.

Referring to the correct surname for the I story of Pedro Betancourt Davalos

In Spanish speaking countries the correct way people are address is by name, surname of father and surname of mother. Such as Pedro Betancourt Davalos. His given name was Pedro, his father surname was Betancourt and his mother surname was Davalos. In referring to that person, in a formal way you would address him as Betancourt not Davalos. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pedroabetancourt (talkcontribs) 19:04, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi there, although I agree that Jun Takahashi will likely be a candidate for speedy deletion, I did want to draw to your attention that tagging an article moments after creation is a bit bitey and doesn't really assume good faith. This, of course, doesn't apply to things like adverts or attack pages, but generally giving a new user 10+ minutes is a good rule of thumb. --Non-Dropframe talk 22:20, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

(Jph786 (talk) 17:29, 31 March 2016 (UTC)) Hey Melcous, I noticed you took out the TUMBLR citation I added saying it is unreliable and unpublished. Even though the website hosting the document is Tumblr, it is an image that's been public before and is indisputable and not forged. It's a signed letter with his number on it; a legit document. My COI aside, that's a most reliable source. I understand that social media is not considered a reliable source, but exceptions are made when the referenced material meets other guidelines and fulfills extenuating circumstances. If I wanted to undo it or call attention to it, start a discussion, what is the best way to do that and to remain good faith? I don't want to disregard your concerns, because they are valuable. I'm not exactly sure how to talk with you on the article page. I understand if you want to dispute that citation, but I don't think it should be removed. It's real. I don't want to be considered a vandal. I also value truth. (Jph786 (talk) 17:29, 31 March 2016 (UTC))

Hi Melcous, You have removed a reference link to my website under vanity plates and whilst I understand the reasons for doing so I would like to understand why you have chosen to leave a similar link to a similar site. The link I added was following a pattern of links established as references and I note you have removed many of these links but that you have left a similar link to the one added by me. I would greatly appreciate you clarifying why you have not removed all the reference links from Vanity Plates. Yours sincerely PREMIERPLATES (talk) 09:25, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

Gust Tsilis (Incorrect article...conflict of interest...notability

If you look for my name at this time on Wikipedia you will read in an article in German by some one who tried to tell the story. The article attempted to bring forth information, but it is completely off, including date of birth. I understand the conflict of interest concept, but in this case I would rather have the current article deleted, since it is incorrect and out dated. How do I go about requesting that?

As far as notability I could careless if there is an article on the net especially when it is incorrect and out dated. Please review this material and cross reference it and if you really want this site to be accurate please consider deleting this , since it is not correct. The references are misinterpreted by the author. If I cannot correct the problems then what other options do I have? Paying a 3rd party to cut and paste the proper info? Or is there someone else in this organisation I can contact to have the article corrected? The translation into English is a mess as well.

In response to your messages on my talk page, I'm sorry but I cannot help you. I did not delete your page - I tagged it for possible deletion because it did not appear to be encyclopaedic (and it was not in English) and an administrator deleted it. In future, I would suggest if you wish to experiment, use your sandbox, as creating a wikipedia article is not the way to store content you wish to retrieve for your own purposes. Could you send me the latest version of my article?

Dear 'gatekeeper'

From your history log I see your life consists mainly of playing the self nominated 'gatekeeper' at this website, destroying other users' efforts. The page I created is for ordinary people who come to the courts for justice only to learn that there are 'gatekeepers' sitting there who swiftly refuse them access to justice only because their application paperwork does not perfectly meet strict criteria set by the procedure rules. You would like to see the page speedily deleted; that is fine, I will survive it. My court paperwork is always OK. Is yours, too? If one day you appear at court in front of a real 'gatekeeper', they find it is not and refuse your application, then that will be what you properly deserve.

Good luck.

Hi Melcous. At Bain family murders, you recently edited references and one has been left in bad condition. Would you be so kind as to fix it? re: Speedy deletion nomination of Levent Karahan

Hello Melcous. You have for some reason left a message on my talk concerning the speedy deletion of the article Levent Karahan. This is strange because I have not created, edited nor have ever heard of this article. I have to assume one of two things: you have in some way erroneously identified me as the responsible editor, or my account had been hacked. Since this article is deleted, I have no way of seeing it on my contribution list. Could I ask you take a second look at what passed, so I can eliminate the latter possibility?

PROD

Hello. Please take some time to read WP:PROD. You will then realise that some of your actions on the IIS article were totally unwarranted. To summarise: anyone can remove a PROD tag, and replacing a PROD tag that has been removed is prohibited. Thanks and regards, Biwom (talk) 07:02, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your message but unfortunately I have no idea what article you are referring to - I cannot find anything I have recently edited that has that acronym, nor can I find any recent edits where I have replaced a PROD, or an article you and I have both edited so I'm not sure if you have made an error or are not being specific enough. And yes, while I absolutely can and sometimes do make mistakes, I am familiar with WP:PROD so perhaps you could WP:AGF rather than ignorance on the part of experienced editors? Thanks, Melcous (talk) 11:26, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
Maybe Indian Institute of Sindhology will ring a bell? Thanks and regards, Biwom (talk) 16:10, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I see that twice you restored a Prod that had been removed from this article, here and here. -- GB fan 14:12, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
Yep, as I said on Biwon's talk page, happy to acknowledge that as a mistake, and to say that my edit summaries are pretty clear that my intention was to replace maintenance tags deleted by the page author without dealing with the issues referred to, but yep I missed the fact that I was including the PROD in that as well. I'm still not convinced that a "please take some time to read" and "totally unwarranted" is the nicest way of responding to that from someone who is obviously not a new editor, but I'm pretty sure I too may have left messages that could have been better worded or didn't take time to see if there was a different explanation so hopefully we all live and learn. That does not justify the inclusion of an entire section in an article. At best, they should be included under the aptly named "External links" section. See also WP:External links for guidance on the suitability and placement of such links. As you have presented them, they are effectively spam, and will be treated as such by most editors. Magic♪piano 14:27, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
Yep, @WesternHeritageMapping: "spam" refers to the fact that they are links to your own website, and as the message I left on your talkpage indicated, you have a conflict of interest - inserting links to your own website anywhere on wikipedia is always going to raise red flags, it would be much better to propose things on the article talk page. Also note that wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts does not normally allow the use of more than one account or IP address per person, so please remember to login before editing. Thanks, Melcous (talk) 15:31, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

I will sort out your "copy edits" but I am in correspondence with the club concerned and it will take time to work through so Please wait. Eddaido (talk) 09:43, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Your (apparently!) thoughtless revert which is the cause of the trouble is here. Please quit the speed reading, I will fix your mistakes. Eddaido (talk) 10:15, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Yahweh or God

Why did you undo my edit? Yahweh is not the God of the bible, Yahweh is not even in Hebrew, there is no "w" in Hebrew.

It was later speculated that perhaps the Masoretes reversed the vowels for Adonai when applied to the letters in the running text, so some attempted to "correct" the pronunciation by pronouncing the name as "Yahoveh" or "Yahveh." This, too, is incorrect (though the construct form "Yah" is part of the original pronunciation (e.g., see Psalm 68:4; Isaiah 26:4)). Note that Yahweh is an incorrect transliteration, since there is no "w" sound in Hebrew. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2D80:4009:A02A:8D78:FED1:1831:D69D (talk) 01:12, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

I undid your edit because each of those sections you changed has a reference to a reliable source and those are the terms they use (which is why, for example, the first one a German source uses Jahweh, rather than the others which are English and use Yahweh). In wikipedia it is not about what you think is "correct", but what the sources say. Melcous (talk) 01:16, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Oh, sorry I didn't see the sources, and yes I do know that in wikipedia it is not about what you think is correct, but what the sources say, I just did see that sorry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2D80:4009:A02A:8D78:FED1:1831:D69D (talk) 01:26, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Past finding a steward or global re-namer I'm not really sure what to do so I could really use your help. The last thing I want to do is rock the boat so any help you can offer is much appreciated.

In terms of creating a page could you just clarify why mine was deleted? Admittedly I was slow to update it but I was creating the page for encyclopedic knowledge. Any advice on how to avoid a page being deleted would also be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Kind regards,

Simon — Preceding unsigned comment added by DeliverBull (talkcontribs) 08:54, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

Deletion of Link discussing languages of Far Cry Primal

Greetings,

I absolutely respect why links are taken down to avoid spam or self-promotion, though the link to the blog posted (http://speakingprimal.blogspot.com/) is the *only* source of information about the languages created for the game. It is run by myself and Brenna Reinhart Byrd, the two main creators of the languages of FC Primal, and we believe that it will be useful to those interested in learning more. We would very much appreciate your reinstating the link.

All the best,

Andrew Byrd, Assistant Professor of Linguistics, University of Kentucky

Mark Albertine

I'd like to point out that this page is not about myself or someone I know personally. Seeing as it is my first article, I decided to name my user name after the individual I'm writing about.

Disambiguation link notification for May 6

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Antony Kidman, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Randwick, St Aloysius' College and North Sydney. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

In case you're interested, I declined your speedy deletion request for 2016 Rancho Santa Fe Earthquake. I did this since, while the article is, in my opinion, very likely to be a hoax - it clearly isn't a blatant one. I did nominate it for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2016 Rancho Santa Fe Earthquake, where I have no doubt that it will be deleted - after a discussion. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 14:35, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Hi Melcous,

I noticed that you are very proficient at trimming promo tone and blp problems from some of the blp bios you have worked on. I have been trying to trim out promotionalism and weasel words and phrases out of the article Chris Sacca, but other editors, the creator plus two ips are trying to add back in crap. At last count there were like 10 or 11 youtube refs that include videos, podcasts and interviews, plus lots of primary refs from domains and companies owned by the subject. I removed lots of external urls of his company websites left as just external links in the body. It looked like some sort of SEO scheme or something. If you have a spot of time could you look at Chris Sacca, and show me more that can be trimmed out? Or if you are feeling it, please trim, trim, trim, and trim away. I will watch and learn. Thanks! Hi Fouetté, sure I'll have a quick look and a go at some copyediting. Cheers, Melcous (talk) 02:27, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
Thanks so much. I will keep an eye out!. Oh, there is the changer backer already. Now he will likely set out to reverse all your work. I hope not~ Fouetté rond de jambe en tournant (talk) 02:53, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Gents,

Was not trying to create a fan piece but some sources on this relatively new subject are not easily attainable. As per the first revisions I changed 10 sources away from company websites .. no seo scheme: the first version of the page was in fact hideous. Move over, as the subject was an attorney I still don't understand why his first career as at his lawfirm keeps getting redacted: it is extremely relevant. Thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by David-from-Montreal (talkcontribs) 03:24, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

@David-from-Montreal: thanks for your message - we should probably move any further discussion to Talk: Chris Sacca and work through this there. I think we are all trying to achieve the same thing, so hopefully can work together well to improve the article. A couple of quick points - nothing about his legal career is being "redacted" - I just removed the name of his law firm as a heading because it doesn't cover the whole section and isn't needed. Also, when leaving a message on a talk page like you did above or at the article talk, please "sign" it by including four tildes (this symbol ~) at the end which will automatically add your user name, link to your talk page and timestamp. Oh, and finally, maybe don't assume all editors here are "gents" :) Cheers, Melcous (talk) 03:33, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Noted on all counts..I still don't agree with one change: the law firm .. it is critical to the subject's career path. See Talk: Chris Sacca cheers David-from-Montreal (talk) 03:38, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

My ESICs related pages.

Hi Melcous,

Hi - Thank you for the feedback. With respect to the identification for speedy deletion of th eoages I wrote yesreday can I please ask that this not be pursued for the time being

Here in Australia we have had the introduction of a number of new concepts, words, terminology and labels that relate to the area of investing in innovations and very early stage ventures. The reason I have created a few different wikipedia page is because it may take some time for the common use and acceptance of one term over another. At present on the Australian government's web site provides the definitions of these terms and I believe that by having the few wikipedia pages for the time being will lead to more web searches visiting wikipedia prior to potentially ending up on the governments web pages.

I am a new contributor and if there is a way where you would prefer I consolidate the terms onto one page I would do so.

For example I created ESICs because 1. ESIC exists and is an american insurance company (which is not relevant to an ESIC in Australia) - I also postulate that some Australians will use the plural esics when they start to research what these things are.

Your patience and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Warm regards DrP

PS I will work through the suggested areas you have identified that i should read and wizards to use. thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DrPractical (talkcontribs) 06:02, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

When I don't add an external link, the article gets edited. When I do add an external link, the article gets edited. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. At any rate, removing the photographer credit from Stephen Mansfield's page makes the page less factual than before. Please stop removing my photographer credit. I'm growing weary of replacing it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IsaacDarnall (talkcontribs) 21:06, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
