Chennamaneni Rajeshwara Rao

Okay so you put a BLP prod on Chennamaneni Rajeshwara Rao, looking at his YOB, he might not be living, so not sure if he should be qualified for a BLP prod or not. (says he was born in 1923, with no info if living or dead either). Wgolf (talk) 21:52, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Yes I see from the DOB it might be questionable, however the original author put "is" not "was", plus WP:BDP says "Anyone born within the past 115 years is covered by this policy unless a reliable source has confirmed their death." Cheers, Melcous (talk) 00:58, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

deletion of page

Why the page entitled "विश्वजीत दीपक गुडधे" was deleted ? Though the discussion was ongoing on Talk board and I also committed to provide all the necessary documents, the page was immediately deleted. I had a good image of Wikipedia in my mind, but it seems that it is only for some SPECIAL people only. Vishwajeet Gudadhe (talk) 17:52, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

My links deleted as spam

Hi Melcous,

Thanks for taking the time to look over my edits. I've never submitted something to Wikipedia before so this whole thing is new to me.

I currently own two older cars, a 1988 Honda Accord, and a 1995 Saturn SL-2.

I very much value the TSB's offered by the NTSB, but I find the database is not comprehensive. It only provides a fraction of available manufacturer supplied TSB's.

BBB-industries took me a very long time to find, and it's notable because it offers free access to a very large and comprehensive database of available wiring data and TSB's for a vast variety of cars.

I let the NTSB know that BBB-industries has a much more comprehensive database than they do, but the NTSB did nothing with this information.

I posted the link on Wikipedia, because I thought the BBB-Industries database was relevant and appropriate to the two pages listed.

I look forward to hearing back from you,

Delapre Abbey - Not sure how to sort this - I simply wanted to remove the reference to the Friends of Delapre Abbey having a tearoom on site as this no longer the case. Trying to understand Do's and Dont's

Hi Melcoues talk. Being new to creating on Wikipedia, I continue to read the suggested articles, regulations and even watch videos to try to better understand the system. I previously made some adjustments as I indicated in my reply to the potential speedy deletion of my article but never received any confirmation other than my article still had issues causing it to be deleted from my Sandbox, not even attempted post.

I have reentered the main article and removed the many internal wiki links to referred names and topics mentioned in the body. Are my revisions correct or are there suggested edits I can make to fulfill the requirements and get published? I appreciate your time and valuable input. ChigoLoft (talk) 01:19, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

In addition to what you typed in, I also want to understand WHERE you typed it in because that was something I was confused about. Thank you so much! Trying to gain a clear understanding of this

Hi Melcous. Thanks so much for your input. I AM new here and I'm trying to be a good contributed but I guess I'm trying to get a clear understanding of how to be successful at creating good contributions. I think you did a great job of creating sections and resolving the links to wiki articles (which I guess aren't desirable here) but the page lies still challenged. There are links to articles written by the Los Angeles Times, a reliable news source, so I'm wondering why wiki still needs "reliable sources". How do I get better at this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Consciencecreator (talkcontribs) 11:18, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I am overwhelmed with your response. Glad to know that you are allowing addition of links to pages that so not exist but refused to accept links that are fresh and running fine. What is the point of mentioning story Rebati , when you are disallowing links. And in fact I had added the links to external link section, which you had deleted and the message that i had received is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Ameodia

Had you managed to check the sites that are there in the notes section? Are they opening?

The whole point of mentioning the link is that if someone is interested in reading the story then s/he can came to our site. Yes I am closely associated with the site. For your kind information ameodia.com is a community magazine, odia writers around the globe are contributing their articles to this magazine.

Thanks a lot for your time. I hope I had made my point clear to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ameodia (talkcontribs) 11:35, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Melcous. So far, you've been the only person that's given me advice in a way that was useful. The automated short forms used on wiki just seem too abstract for a new contributor. I'm sure I'll get used to it but perhaps you can help me interpret the most recent tags on my 'Mary DeChambres' article. Firstly, there's an error that says there are no links to it, but there are three. Secondly it states that I need 'reliable sources' however in Wiki's article on what that a reliable source is, it says that a reliable source could be a "respected mainstream publication". One of the links is to an article by the Los Angles Times which is a very respected mainstream publication, so... I guess I'm really confused. I would really appreciate if you could help me understand. Thank you SO much!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Consciencecreator (talkcontribs) 06:28, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Hello,

You recently made some improvements to the Lindt Siege article, thanks. But in the process the formatting of the raw text became wrapped. This does not affect the finished article, but it does make diffs hard to follow, and the raw text itself hard given the refs. I am curious to know what is causing this. Anwsers to Melcous questions.

Hi Melcous and, first at all, I have to thank you for help. I have been a Wikipedia user and economic supporter for years, but I have little experience as an article contributor. My article “shopping addiction” is in a large part an translation (with the help of my English friend Matha W.) of some Wikipedia article in other languages about the same topic without problem or objections. The article has been updated and improved with English references and I hope that other people will contribute to improve it. In the article there are any personal reflection or opinion, I have no personal connection with the subject. I have tried to write a neutral article, only based in opinion of the prestigious experts. And, of course, the article is no an original research. It is an article that I have written, first in Spanish and after in English, with the only intention to contribute to Wikipedia. It is true that my nickname is psicosociales and it is the same name that the web of the non-profit association of psychological and social studies, and I am, as thousands of people, member of the Association, but without economic or personal interest. In the article there are two links with documents that are in the web of association (but they are not of the association) because all of them are important, related to the subject, free, neutral and right-free. So I thought they could be very useful to the Wikipedia readers. But there any problem to remove them because they are not essential to the article. Please Melcous, excuse me all my English mistakes in this text. Today I have not the help of Martha. Best regards. E-mosty erased from Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge

Dear Melcous

Thank you very much for your message that you have erased our newly added external link to our magazine in Wikipedia.

1) our magazine "e-mosty" (e-bridges) is an international, reviewed, electronic, quarterly released English-Czech magazine about bridges, run on www.e-mosty.cz 2) it is open access, non-commercial highly specialised and internationaly highly valued magazine among bridge engineers.

3) our June issue contains probably the most extensive technical description of the Yuavuz Sultan Selim Bridge (3rd Bosphorus Bridge) that you can find on the internet or in the magazines / books. The article was written by me, I am a chief editor of the magazine. We have cooperated with Dr. Jean Francois Klein (he co-designed the bridge together with Dr. Michel Virlogeux and he is also the author of the detailed design), with technical and construction managers from Astaldi and got it reviewed by Mr Professor Brancaleoni from the University of Rome. The informative value of the article is high and it is accompanied by drawings, rich photogallery and video gallery and is more than 20 pages in size. Nothing like this can be found anywhere else now.

4) when you put into search engine the name of the bridge, you get wikipedia, 3kopru.com (partial source of photos), a few newspaper articles and our magazine, usually on the first or second page.

5) by deleting our link you showed me that the bad reputation of information on wikipedia is based on real functioning of wikipedia. I offered you free of charge valuable source of information which is accurate, correct and gained in cooperation with people who know their business. This is what you wrote: "Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you"

I wanted to help wiki, to provide it with source of relevant data. After this it was my first - and last attempt to cooperate with Wikipedia. Your reaction shows lack of respect, knowledge and at least polite behaviour towards people who have achieved much more than you. And I do not have time nor willingness to try again.

Regards

Conflict of Interest

Hello Melcous,

Thank you for your advice on my changes to the Border Guard Corps page. Since I do have an external relation I will no longer edit said page. I assure you that I was merely under the impression that my work as a historian might help to provide additional factual information (especially since I have direct access to documents otherwise only available to the public with a considerable time delay). However, since this would apparently be considered to fall under conflict of interest as well, I will of course refrain from further changes. Thank you very much for your support and please feel free to contact me if you have further questionsEzv (talk) 12:22, 12 July 2016 (UTC).

Thank you for your note

We appreciate your feedback about the edit to Orpheum Theatre (Memphis). Our organization's leadership asked us to correct some facts that had become outdated in light of recent changes to our name and mission, as well as expand information about our historic landmark. This is the first time anyone in our organization has edited Wikipedia. We did our best to source as much of our entry as possible with newspaper articles throughout the last 87 years, as well as published books. The sources or references to the Orpheum Theatre website are simply meant to verify that the information is presented the same across all of our sites, press releases, etc. As a nonprofit with a commitment to the Mid-South community, we simply wanted to make sure accurate information was being presented. We will refrain from making future edits to the page, but we ask that the most recent edits, presented with as little bias as possible, remain so that our entry is accurate. Thank you! Disambiguation link notification for July 16

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Floris Cohen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Eureka. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Re inappropriate external links

In relation to your comment about inappropriate external links on MT type cars, I was actually trying to add the links as references, but I can't understand Wikipedia's coding language. I have a basic grasp of how to make headings, lists and links, but if I try to do other things, it doesn't work. I am NOT linking people to my site to 'attract visitors', I am linking them to it to provide a source of accurate information for reference purposes that can not be changed by someone whom thinks their version sounds better. I have came across at least one page on here that was a complete work of fiction, and it has since been removed. Trainsofvictoria (talk) 14:55, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

I have trawled through over 8GB of saved train related websites to find this information, and I would love to have put it all to Wikipedia, but then anyone can come along and change these facts. I am often finding many conflicting date (things built on 3 totally different dates, or locomotives entering service only to then be built the following year). So yes, I did link it to my own site, but shouldn't one encyclopedia reference another that is more reliable. Trainsofvictoria (talk) 15:26, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
In relation to the links to my site on South Australian Railways Brill railcar, they were the only links on that page that dealt with the Victorian Railways railmotor 44RM and trailer 200MT. Trainsofvictoria (talk) 01:40, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Hello please do not undo our work on Charlotte Newhouse, if you contact her directly she will confirm these details. Although they may seem silly I believe they reflect either an exaggerated series of experiences or the biography of a public character. Please confirm with our publicist before making anymore changes.

Inappropriate Links

Thank you Melcous for taking to the time to contact me, I do appreciate your time and efforts in keeping Wikipedia up to date.

I would like to ask you to reconsider my contribution. I see that someone has left a link, by using the exact name of Harrison Fisher and has created a link that is redirect into a website that appears to have nothing to do with the American Illustrator Artist named Harrison Fisher, when in fact, the link I provided has allot of things to do with Harrison Fisher along with other artist as well. I showcase Artwork from Harrison Fisher along with other artist. The mysterious link that is the inappropriate link has been left for every one who clicks onto that link to go to a website that has nothing to do with Harrison Fisher and even changes its domain name in the tool bar once the domain name is click onto from Wilkepedia. I looked into this further and discovered that it is a website that 'is a Maine design studio offering vintage stock images )

I am interested in learning, why would a link called, HarrisonFisher.com that once clicked on, takes you to a whole other web domain name and that reads nothing about Harrison Fisher be allowed to stay there? The link called HarrisonFisher.com once clicked on, takes a person to another domain name called, http://hillstock.com/ When I investigated further, I found nothing on Harrison Fisher.

If there is something that I am missing in regards to this link that appears to serve no purpose other than to use the name Harrison Fisher to take people to a Design Studio Offering Retro Clip Art and Vintage Stock Images of which there was no finding of Harrison Fisher in those images as well. Is there something that I am missing in regards to the HarrisonFisher.com link, is the art that this website truly representing Harrison Fisher? or not? The link that I provided displays some of the Art Work of Harrison Fisher, unlike what I saw from the HarrisonFisher.com link that is [presented at the very top of the links in the same section that my link was located.

Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns, I would like to present my contribution once again, by presenting a shorter phrase, less words? I do showcase some of Harrison Fishers work and feel that there would be many out there who would enjoy viewing some of his works the way I display his work along side other artists as well.

Sincerely, ClassicFineArt — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClassicFineArt (talkcontribs) 04:58, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Inappropriate Links/Second Notice

Thank you for responding and addressing the concerns that I have presented to you. Once again, I am bringing to you another concern on the same subject matter as before. I have found another link on the Harrison Fisher Wilkepedia page that appears to have redirect links, and or misleading links, appearing to use the subject matter Harrison Fisher for stepping into the same website as I presented to you previously.

The link that is presented on the Wikipedia page for Harrison Fisher takes you to http://www.fashionmodeldirectory.com/ Then that page has a link that then takes you to the same website that the other HarrisonFisher.com link took you too which is

http://hillstock.com/ which is the place the same Design Studio Offering Retro Clip Art, Vintage Stock Images.

Being that my link was removed as quickly as it was, it befuddles me to think that these links have probably been sitting up there for quite some time.

Thank you for your time, I hope this helps keep Wikipedia cleaned up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClassicFineArt (talkcontribs) 05:44, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Did you miss the link?

Hello, May suggest, click onto the link that leads a person to view more information about Harrison Fisher that is by his biography? Were you able to click onto the link that they have located by his biography? Also, would'nt modeling agency and Harrison Fisher be considered a conflict of interest? When you follow the link that is using Harrison Fisher it takes you right back to the website called http://hillstock.com/ Which is the same domain name that was a result of the HarrishonFisher.com link that was on the Harrison Fisher Wikipedia page that I shared with you previously.
