Renaming of Kendall Jenner article reverted[edit]

I've reverted your renaming of the article, which was done without prior discussion and is, in my opinion, controversial. A quick search of e.g. Google News reveals that her full name is still very widely used. If you want the article renamed, you should initiate a formal discussion as explained at Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. Favonian (talk) 07:18, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As a matter of fact, a similar renaming was discussed at Talk:Kendall Jenner#Requested move 21 March 2014 and soundly defeated. Favonian (talk) 07:21, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information you added to this article today. Unfortunately, it cannot go where you put it in section 13, because condemning a terrorist group is not the same as designating it as a terrorist organization. The designation of a country as a terrorist organization is a formal government ruling, and when a government does this it adds the name of the group to an official list. (You can see an example in the US citation in the information box.) I have moved your information an appropriate place in the Lead. --P123ct1 (talk) 12:58, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. Illegal immigration ‎[edit]

I suggest that you need to justify your addition of the tag, by explaining it on the article talk page. If you look at the previous discussions on that page you will see that I share many of your apparent concerns over the article - but, so far, those opposing changes to the article or its title have successfully resisted changing it. Your controversial page move of the Illegal immigration and Illegal immigration to the United States articles[edit]

Republic of Ireland[edit]

Please don't start Requested moves without prior discussion on topics with which you have no previous involvement, as you did at Talk:Republic of Ireland. The question of article names has been very divisive in the past. There was an arbitration case, Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/Ireland article names, and a major poll at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland Collaboration/Poll on Ireland article names that showed a clear consensus among the community in general to keep the current names. The naming convention is stated and explained in the Manual of Style for Ireland-related articles at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Ireland-related articles#Use of Ireland and Republic of Ireland. You would have seen all that if you had just read the heading at the top of the Talk:Republic of Ireland page before jumping in with both feet. Scolaire (talk) 07:54, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I removed your edit to Umpqua Community College Shooting[edit]

You recently added information to the description of this shooting event, claiming it was aimed at Christians. I see why you think this is correct. He did, after all, ask about religion. However, this does not seem to be correct given the information we have. If you can find a reliable source from the last week or so claiming this, I will have no issue with it. I normally wouldn't let you know, but since you had the most recent edit, I figured you should know. Again, I have no doubt that this was in good faith. Early signs did point to your description. If you would like to add this information, it probably shouldn't go in the early description until it is more apparent that it is the reason for it. Please don't take this message the wrong way. Good Article renominations[edit]

Shhhhwwww!, I was frankly surprised to see that you had renominated both the Mary Jane Veloso and Philippines v. China articles to be Good Articles. As I noted back when you had retired in September and I removed the nominations as abandoned, both articles did not meet the good article criteria at the time, not the least of which were their inadequate lead sections (see WP:LEAD for what is expected).

You should have at least improved the lead sections to meet the criteria before renominating the articles—I notice that this was an issue with your previous GAN, Talk:Kayla Mueller/GA1. However, since you have, you should be aware that both nominations will require significant work on your part to improve the articles if you wish them to be listed, so if you don't have the time (as you didn't with Kayla Mueller), you should probably withdraw them.

One thing: these are renominations—the old nominations were closed—not reinstatements of old nominations, so I have given them a timestamp that reflects your edits earlier today. Best of luck this time if you choose to pursue these nominations. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:30, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chokoleit requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Grace Poe[edit]

Let's discuss. Here are my thoughts. [add'l info added]

"Why is she disqualified" is not extraneous, it's basic. The text of the actual decision apparently hasn't been seen except by "a highly reliable source" who said "the rulings of the en banc are 'nuanced.' News reports based on that, not "best evidence."

Poe has one more avenue to seek redress, the SC, which can't be done until the decision is actually released, à la "it ain't over until the paperwork is done."

The "world" has no idea what's been going on. Don't know about either of Poe's appeals nor what's been in previous news reports. In the US, the natural born citizen issue has impacted two recent presidential candidates, Barrack Obama & Ted Cruz, so at least here (me-Columbia Md.) it's relevant.

Should know more about the Philippines and other nations in East Asia. You do; I'll keep learning.

Please share your thoughts. Thanks. RaqiwasSushi (talk) 15:24, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cut and paste move[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Template:Partido ng Demokratikong Reporma-Lapiang Manggagawa/meta/color/meta/color/meta/color a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Template:Partido ng Demokratikong Reporma-Lapiang Manggagawa/meta/color. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Thanks for your quick and informative answer over at the article's talk page - you were spot on.
Reading through this talk page of yours there seems to be a lot of negativity. I have a feeling that a lot of people don't understand some of your great edits (like I didn't until you explained it to me). Maybe putting a bit more in the edit summary might help?
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written there will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. Grace Poe GA nomination[edit]

Shhhhwwww!!, your nomination of Grace Poe to be a Good Article is now the oldest unreviewed article nominated for GA. It could be selected at any time.

The problem here is that the article contains very little on her recent Presidential run. There's a lot on the qualifications controversy, but next to nothing about the campaign or the basic results (probable third place finish). If the review starts with the article in this state, I can't imagine it will pass, and there is a significant risk that the article will be failed out of hand rather than being given time to be brought up to date.

I would advise you to work on updating the article now. In the meantime, I have placed a note on the nomination pointing out that the election was happening on May 9. I will be removing it in a few days. Best of luck in your work. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:21, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

July 2016[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize pages by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at List of languages by total number of speakers, you may be blocked from editing. There is no "2016 Edition" and the numbers you added for Tagalog do not match what the source says. Thomas.W talk 14:43, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Additionally, you have changed numerical values on other pages while either piggybacking your edit on existing citations or not providing any supporting sources at all. Why would an experienced editor do such things? Our readers deserve better service than this. Tiderolls 15:37, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(Copied from my user talk) There is no definitive total for the number of speakers of Tagalog language. The 70+ million figure is based on the totals for Tagalog (25 million) and the Tagalog-based Filipino language (45 million) in Ethnologue. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 15:50, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Then you should say that. Instead what you are adding is considered original research. Are you familiar with this concept? Again, our readers deserve information they can verify, not your best calculation. While I am here, why would distributing conversations over several pages be a better idea than having conversations centralized? If one is addressed in on place they should reply there. Tiderolls 16:19, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The only reliable total is the one in Ethnologue. That's just one source. All the other references are inaccurate (both Philippine or otherwise) because they are either inflated or deflated because they tend to include or ignore bilingual speakers of languages of the Philippines. Most people in the country claim to be multilingual so it is difficult to identify native speakers between second-language speakers. A situation that conflates the numbers. It is further confounded by some people who speak more than one language natively. So having 180 different languages is a challenge for statistics. The easiest solution is to stick to a single trustworthy source (Ethnologue) no matter how flawed it may be. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 19:29, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not seeing how any of that mitigates your actions. Stop adding content without proper sourcing. Tiderolls 20:47, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible.

To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:

List of Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States Congress‎[edit]

While I reject the notion held by some that Filipinos cannot be deemed to be "Hispanic" or "Latino," am responsible for adding Manuel Quezón (whose substantial Spanish ancestry was public knowledge during his lifetime) to the List of Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States Congress‎, and am awaiting corroborating evidence as to the Spanish ancestry of Isauro Gabaldón and Benito Legarda before adding him to the article, it simply is not correct to state that *all* Filipinos meet the definition of either "Hispanic" or "Latino." While a person who was born and raised in, say, Argentina or Mexico would be deemed, ipso facto, to be "Latino," the Philippines are not considered a Latin-American country (due to the fact that the Philippines aren't in the Americas), so for a Filipino to meet the criteria for inclusion in the article he would need, at the very least, to be of substantial Spanish descent (which, in the context of a Filipino, likely would have caused such person to be referred to, at least in the early 20th century, as a "mestizo"). Quezón certainly meets the criteria, and I suspect that Gabaldón and Legarda do as well (if you have any information on their Spanish ancestry, please add it to their Wikipedia pages), but I have no reason to believe that any of the other Resident Commissioners from the Philippines had substantial Spanish ancestry.

The same thing goes for the Delegates from Guam and the Northern Marianas. If any of those Delegates have substantial Spanish ancestry, then I will support you in including them in the article, but otherwise I don't think that they should be included.

Regarding your deletion of the sentence regarding how Chamorros are not Hispanic, I don't know enough about Chamorros to gauge whether they have substantial Spanish ancestry, but I agree that the mere fact that someone is Chamorro should not disqualify him from being deemed a Hispanic.

I deleted your addition of John Ensign, given that he is 1/8 German-Filipino and has very little, if any, Spanish ancestry. I have not deleted any of your other additions, but am certain that few of them involve Hispanics. I recommend that you provide evidence of Spanish ancestry (e.g., mentions in reliable sources that such person was a mestizo) for the persons that you added if you want to avoid having your additions deleted. Believe me, other editors of List of Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States Congress‎ are quick to delete first and not even wait for an explanation, and you will need evidence to convince them that particular Filipinos and Chamorros belong in the article.

AuH2ORepublican (talk) 00:32, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@AuH2ORepublican, All Filipinos born before 1900 were born in the Spanish Empire and spoke Spanish hence are therefore Hispanic. Not all Latin Americans have Spanish ancestry some are 100% native. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 06:57, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

April 2017[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. e.g. Armenian Americans, Iranian Americans, Georgian Americans, Azerbaijani Americans, Template:Asian Americans. Those were incorrect additions. - LouisAragon (talk) 23:04, 21 April 2017 (UTC) @LouisAragon, Not all of them are controversial or disputed. A blanket revert was unnecessary. Some Sindhi Americans are Indian Americans as some Tamil Americans are Singaporean Americans. The revert affected all changes controversial or not. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 00:13, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Template:Asian Americans shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. BLP dispute[edit]

Don't tell me you also have conflict of interest with Roy Cimatu with the way you switched around and renamed certain sections and removed one sourced paragraph i added. Will keep a close eye on all your edits that have shown a particular bias.--RioHondo (talk) 00:32, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

RioHondo, this is more about WP:OWNership of articles rather than conflict of interest. Accusing others without good faith is rather a bit naughty.Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 02:12, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
A minor "interestingly spaced" claim does not justify the removal of the Ombudsman decision clearing Cimatu of the charges. And the career section is divided according to agency or office held not according to change in admin. Explain this edit.--RioHondo (talk) 02:23, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon, RioHondo, none of the said sentences were removed but rather simply reshuffled around the article to give a more chronological feel. The subject matter was out of office during the time of His Exellency Benigno Aquino III so binding his career by office is simply illogical. It seems that someone else has a conflict of interest not the one being accused. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 02:28, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
RioHondo, Reverting someone and accusing them of vandalism is simply out of good faith. One must be aware that own ership of articles is contrary to the spirit of the encyclopedia. One must be open to the views of others. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 02:33, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That's not what the sources say. Cimatu served in the Benigno Aquino III administration as per source, and this 2011 Executive order by President Aquino which extended his term as Special Envoy. You wouldn't even allow a controversy section that links to a scandal in your article on Leila de Lima citing WP:BLP, WP:UNDUE or whathaveyous. That's the problem when you don't check on sources and rely on personal knowledge and biases which you have shown early on.--RioHondo (talk) 02:40, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
RioHondo, "criticism" or "controversy" sections in any biography are ill-advised because the verge on being attack pages so incorporating them into the body of a biographical article gives a much more neutral. Editors do err but at the same time the subject matter did retire for a time in between the first appointment and the second one in a span of five years so treating these as a single phase is a strech. The insertion of the controversial event within that section may bridge the two phases. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 02:54, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The sections are there to separate career and education from other details. It's common practice to lump all the details regardless of their chronology to their own place in the article. As with the infobox, it lumps all the terms officials served per position or office, and a person's masterals are under Education regardless if he earned them halfway through his career. But i understand you don't write articles here but just to push a certain agenda like the ownership you made in the drug war article and those of other political opponents of your senator that worked in the same building as you. Just go back to updating pics of ethnic representatives and nominating articles you didn't make to DYK ;).--RioHondo (talk) 03:20, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
RioHondo, please refrain from personal attacks. It is simply rude and unhelpful. In reaching a consensus. The biggest point of contention in the subject matter's so-called "Pabaon controversy." It is simply an eyesore to the average reader who simply seek to be informed. On a sidenote, one must by clairvoyant to know the location of the other. One must suggest that another must be mindful before making any assumptions. The purpose of an editor is irrelevant to the grander purpose of the encylopedia. Some write articles while others don't but all function in the grander ecosystem of knowledge. One must be open to this. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 03:30, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have made the requested adjustments to remove a controversy section. Thanks for nominating my articles to DYK in the past though. We're all good.--RioHondo (talk) 03:36, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As an interested bystander, I hope you don't mind me saying that both of you do fine work and I'm glad you were able to finish on a friendlier note and make a constructive change to the structure of the article... BushelCandle (talk) 08:36, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OTD June 12[edit]

Thanks for helping out on Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/June 12. Just wanted to point out a few things to keep in mind when doing OTD updates:

  1. Let's not have it so that all the blurbs are related to the US.
  2. It's the 75th anniversary for the Anne Frank blurb, so that gets priority being a significant anniversary.
  3. Too many modern items. I normally try to limit it to a max of three 20th century and later items.
  4. We normally wait at least two years (WP:RECENT) to list blurbs, so it's too early for the Pulse nightclub shooting

Please don't let that discourage you from future contributions to OTD. Thanks. howcheng {chat} 20:02, 10 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's never been my experience that these templated warnings generate more light than heat with experienced editors. (Sometimes they're just used as cheap "badges of shame".) I assume this relates to the business about Israeli stamps in passports? If not, it might be best to signal exactly what edits you found unconstructive and why? Just my ha'penny's worth...BushelCandle (talk) 14:37, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@BushelCandle +Twofortnights, the problem with the Israeli stamps us that them seem to target specific type of countries: East Asian/West Pacific [China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea (South), Philippines, San Marino, and Thailand], major historically-Catholic countries [Andorra, Brazil, France, Hungary, Mexico, Monaco, Poland, Portugal, and Spain], and some random set of countries [Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Norway, and Serbia]. It explicitly excludes most Anglophone countries except Australia and New Zealand, African countries, Carribean countries, and certain large countries such as India, Italy, and Russia. There seem to be an intrinsic reason why the editor is intent on forewarning people from these countries. That and the statement reamins unsourced which may equate to vandalism. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 20:00, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I found his edit here: [1] to be unnecessary. The page has over three hundred references. Simply asking for more is not constructive behavior. Power~enwiki (talk) 01:51, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Power~enwiki , Please ready unsourced. The number of references is irrelevant to the factual accuracy of an article. So long as it contains unsourced statements, the dozens of references may not be enough. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 03:13, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Power~enwiki: I agree with Shhhhwwww!! in this case, with one caveat: Anything that is "common knowledge" and/or is unlikely to be challenged (For example "Paris is the capital of France") doesn't need to be sourced. In my experience most information on Wikipedia needs references. WhisperToMe (talk) 09:11, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Opencooper: I think it's a bit long, but the best way to deal with it, IMO, is to have him slowly remove entries by integrating the content from the "further reading" sources into the article. WhisperToMe (talk) 09:10, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on 2022 Philippine Senate election requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Notice

The article 2023 in the Philippines has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

It isn't normal to have future "XXX in the country" articles. There aren't even any specific things here that are scheduled to take place. If we allow this one, where does it end? Are we going to make a "2027 in North Korea" too? It's all WP:CRYSTAL.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 08:12, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Ina Ambolodto has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This person is non-notable, failing WP:NPOL since she was apparently never elected to the senate. Furthermore, the whole article is written like a campaign statement ("fight for peace and prosperity," "ably assisted," "a life of service, leadership, and work for peace," "a champion of grassroots government," etc.), clearly violating WP:NPOV and WP:NOTADVOCACY. In short, this article is a political advertisement about a non-notable subject.

Hello, Showiecz.

I do see that in the November 2 revision, under the vice-president section of the article, there is a high number of people choosing other candidates other than the names given in the charts.

As per the RPMD website, the large number (33.11%) in the 'others' would have been from Sara Duterte. Mind if we consider putting that large number into her in that article as per the given reference or still list as others? Thanks. Xingqiu Talk 15:14, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

...and yeah, would you mind to have an archive for your talk page? Someone may take long time to scroll down content here. Xingqiu Talk 15:15, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Xingqiu, only those who submitted certificates of candidacy are listed in the poll. If ever she files for candidacy then she would be listed beyond as "Other". Showiecz (talk) 06:26, 4 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
