National socialist movement[edit]

There is a page on Wikipedia containing info about the National socialist movement. It states their political orientation is “far-right”.

Socialism for starters is not on the right side of the spectrum, it’s a leftist ideology. The right or Republican Party was formed in opposition to the Democratic Party and slavery. The Republican Party was also founded in the north- Ripon, Wisconsin to be exact, what side did they fight in the civil war? The right or Republicans support capitalism not socialism.

This claim, that the National Socialist Movement is far-right or right in any way is wrong and mis-information. Totalitarian government is large government- another leftist ideology, the exact definition of it.

The claim in that article is completely wrong and goes against everything Wikipedia stands for and represents. The article needs to be corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.144.145.75 (talk) 00:05, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The right has always been about conservatism, and the left liberalism, since the days of the French Republic (indeed, the terms "left-wing" and "right-wing" come from where the liberals and conservatives sat while in legislative sessions - liberals to the left side of the chamber, and conservatives to the right). "Big government" can apply equally to either wing, especially outside of North America. (Also, fascism - such as espoused by a rather infamous National Socialist party - is conservatism taken to its illogical extreme.) —A little blue Bori v^_^v Hasteur Hasteur Ha-- oh.... 00:21, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Depending on which page you are posting about, you might find that this has been discussed already at the article talk page, which is where you should make suggestions to improve the article. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 00:26, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) In any case, this is the general help desk. If you have suggestions for improving an article, the place to find people that actually work on that article, and who are interested in and knowledgeable about the subject, is the article's individual talk page. There are several articles listed at National Socialist Movement, and you didn't mention which, or I'd give you the precise link. Go to the article of concern, click on the "Talk" tab, and you'll find what I'm sure is a long history of discussion. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 00:33, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to add something[edit]

I want to know how to Add something to the People Murdered in Washington State, my Sister was Murdered in Kelso,Wa. I want to add her to the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AllenMom14 (talkcontribs) 01:44, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AllenMom14, she must be WP:NOTABLE in order to be added. Second of all, you are referencing a category, which requires a page to be created and added to it. Happy editing! Heart (talk) 01:48, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, AllenMom14. My condolences for your sister. But Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a memorial site. The sad fact is that thousands of people get murdered: Wikipedia is not about trying to collect complete lists of anything, but summarising information about people and other subjects which meet Wikipedia's criteria for notability - in this case, people who have been written about in some depth for some reason other than being murdered. I'm sorry. --ColinFine (talk) 09:33, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About WP:Rfc[edit]

Suppose in an Rfc all editors are agreed on a particular thing which is supported by sources . While one editor is repeatedly putting his personal views and nt producing a reliable source to support his claims which is opposite to the view of other editors. Also not tries to reach on agreement with others. What will be the result of that Rfc after request fr closure. Also does Rollback doesn't work when an editor is using mobile to edit?Heba Aisha (talk) 02:09, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Heba Aisha: I cannot help you with broad generalities. I would need to know specifically what Rfc you are referring to. I doubt that other help desk volunteers will be able to help either. -Arch dude (talk) 03:18, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Arch dude, I think he is referring to this. Heart (talk) 03:24, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Page name[edit]

On WP:Page name it says:

  • A pagename cannot contain % followed by 2 hexadecimal digits, unless for a percent-encoded character, although there are exceptions.

Like what exceptions? Can I have an example please? Gioguch (talk) 03:29, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gioguch, %u2318. Heart (talk) 03:39, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
HeartGlow30797, technically, "u" is not a hexadecimal digit. Hexadecimal digits are 0-9 and A-F. Gioguch (talk) 03:42, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Gioguch, Well the closest one I could find using Special:Search was %ch. Happy editing! Heart (talk) 03:44, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
HeartGlow30797, Thank you! Gioguch (talk) 03:45, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gioguch: Can I ask why? Is there a particular %something page name you want to create? —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 06:47, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed that text, it was added without explanation back in 2014 and appears to be incorrect, there don't appear to be exceptions to percent-encoding. – Thjarkur (talk) 09:51, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't have a particular page name I want to create, I am just looking into technical restrictions for page titles. Gioguch (talk) 16:08, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

help me for account creating[edit]

hello, i want to create an account in "wikipedia" but did not know hoe to create, can you guide and suggest me, how to create an account of any person or company or institution? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shibaniairserviceslimited (talkcontribs) 03:46, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Shibaniairserviceslimited, hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears that you have already created an account and do not need (and should not) to create another one. However, your username concerns me as it is promotional. Please see WP:USERNAME and consider renaming yourself. Heart (talk) 04:10, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And as WP:USERNAME points out, it's not possible to create an account for a company or an institution. An account is for one person, not for two or more people. Furthermore, anyone working at Shibani Air Services should not be editing articles about aviation: please see Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. -- Hoary (talk) 07:21, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Category:Aviation is a broad topic, but of course they should not be doing so in a WP:COI manner. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:42, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The guidance says that employees of a company should not write about their company or a competitor (or presumably their respective products. Historical subjects should be OK to write on such as Alcock and Brown,Charles Lindbergh, Imperial Airways or the Rolls Royce Merlin engine. They could also write about a current air company which operate in a totally different part of the world Spinney Hill (talk) 09:03, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned Talk page[edit]

Hej, I noticed that (I think due to a wrong config in the talk page archiving) here Talk:White_supremacy, there is an orphaned talk page archive here Talk:White_supremacy/Archives/_1 - which is not captured by the archivebox in the header, and can't be found. How does one deal with that? Should it be pagemoved or should the text be cut & pasted into the last proper archive here Talk:White_supremacy/Archive_5? Thanks in advance --Mvbaron (talk) 09:53, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It was a result of this missed vandalism which broke the bot configuration. The archive can be moved to "Archive 6". – Thjarkur (talk) 10:08, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Þjarkur, Oh my, thank you for finding this... And the bot won't be confused when there is a new Archive with a new index? Mvbaron (talk) 10:10, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think there are some bots that require you to manually update the index, but this bot automatically figures it out. – Thjarkur (talk) 10:12, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I see the talk page has been moved. This can be closed :) Mvbaron (talk) 10:13, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the bot just archived to /5 and not to the latest archive (which is now, after the move) /6... this makes the archives a bit confusing but I assume it’s not a big issue... --Mvbaron (talk) 22:08, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady Aparecida[edit]

It is necessary an edition in the title of the page Basilica_of_the_National_Shrine_of_Our_Lady_of_Aparecida, in 2016 the church was recognized as a Cathedral, therefore nowadays the most recognized name is Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady Aparecida (see the Portuguese version of the page). This also will help to provide better access to information. This same request is already on article's talk page since 29 July 2020, with no modifications or answers until now. Also is not possible to submit a technical move request here once the page is protect, therefore the last possible modifications and requests there were 27 days ago. Can someone do this move? 84.241.193.184(talk) 09:58, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I disagree with the move, but it makes sense to invite wider participation, so I will open a move request at the talk page of the article. TigraanClick here to contact me 15:00, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I respectfully ask you to notice that you made a mistake Tigraan, my request above is clearly to change to "Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady Aparecida" and NOT the full official name. As I mentioned in the page, the Wikipedia name of a place/location should be what people recognize as popular. Therefore, since the Cathedral title was granted in 2016, people started more and more to address as "Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida", although the official name is "Cathedral Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady Aparecida". The Portuguese Wikipedia version of the page is exactly as referred "Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady Aparecida" https://pt.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catedral_Bas%C3%ADlica_de_Nossa_Senhora_Aparecida 84.241.193.184(talk) 16:29, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I do not know where to report a bug and whether it needs to be corrected somehow. Therefore, I am writing here.

Wikification error in Charles Ross (historian): the link leads to Anne Crawford - but she was an actress, not a British historian with the same first and last name. Avedon (talk) 10:48, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Аведон, thank you for spotting, I've updated the link. For links that point to the wrong target, you can try to to update them to point to the correct page. In instances where no page exists you can try to guess what such a page would likely be named, in this case Anne Crawford (historian). – Thjarkur (talk) 10:52, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! The article about Anne Crawford (which historian) does not exist or Wiki's Search does not find the page. I didn’t fix this wrong link - change it for red link or delete wikification. Because I didn't know if it was possible to do it. PS: I'll know for the future. Thanks. Avedon (talk) 11:05, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sigmund Freud[edit]

Why wasn't my edits accepted? I really don't understand that. Did you read my edit summary, or do you presume you have read all essential writings by Sigmund Freud?

Gratefully, Pencho ( Avatar in this realm of the world ) — Preceding unsigned comment added by PenchoLinden (talkcontribs) 14:24, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@PenchoLinden: Your edits were reverted as they removed sourced material and your edit summary indicates otiginal research or opinion. The editor that restored the content made it clear in his ES; did you read that? BTW starting an edit summary with 'now listen' is not helping. If you disagree with the other editor please start a discussion at the article talk page to reach a consensus. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 14:33, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @PenchoLinden: once your 24h block for edit warring expires, you should go to Talk:Sigmund Freud and make your case for the edit you want to make here (essentially, removing Beauvoir's criticism from the page). Such case would be greatly helped by references supporting the edit (for instance, an academic review indicating that no serious contemporary philosopher thinks Beauvoir's criticism holds water).
Even if you think all other people on the page are idiots, or illiterate, or acting in bad faith, Wikipedia policy still requires that you try to collaborate with them. TigraanClick here to contact me 14:52, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Antlantis Rising[edit]

Is the magazine Antantis Rising a reliable source? It seems speculative to me. Rich (talk) 16:31, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Richard L. Peterson, we have a special noticeboard for discussing the reliability of sources - it's at WP:RSN. It would help if you gave a link to the magazine's website, and also indicated which article it's being used on, and what assertions it's being used to support - a source may be reliable for one assertion, but unreliable for another, editors will need the context in order to make a determination. "Jewish"[edit]

Why, when an individual is Jewish, does it have to be mentioned somewhere within the first three lines from the top of the paragraph? When an individual is Catholic, etc. it is not given the same prominent positioning. For example is you look at Sam Liccardo, Mayor of San Jose, his Mexican, Sicilian and Irish descent is not mentioned until the 3rd line from the bottom. You will NEVER see "Jewish" way down there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.54.227.43 (talk) 16:41, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IP editor. Per the guidelines as WP:BLPLEAD, there is no reason why someone's ethnicity or religion should be mentioned in the lead section of an article unless it is connected to their notability. Is there a particular article you're concerned about? Best GirthSummit (blether) 17:28, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick Bamford[edit]

The article states that Patrick is a distant relative of JCB founder Sir Anthony Bamford. Joseph Cyril Bamford was in fact the companies founder. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.31.89.104 (talk) 17:24, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IP editor. You should make this point at the article talk page, with reference to a reliable source which supports your assertion. Best GirthSummit (blether) 17:30, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, IP editor. The cited ref says his relative is JCB chairman (rather than founder); I have changed the article accordingly. —teb728 t c 22:56, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Central Description in Page Information[edit]

I would like to edit the central description in the page information section of a page, could you tell me how to do this please? (Amirah Breen 19:44, 30 September 2020 (UTC))— Preceding unsigned comment added by AmirahBreen (talkcontribs) 19:44, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That is presumably the description in Wikidata. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:47, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@AmirahBreen: I'm surprised there's no edit link (pencil icon) beside it, but if you click on the "Wikidata item" link (in the Tools submenu on the left side of the screen in desktop view), you can edit it there (in each language).
Also, please don't put parentheses around your signature – as you can see, it makes automated tools not recognize it as such. The ~~~~ should be the very last thing in your posting. I also see that your name in that signature is not linked to your user or talk pages (a requirement of WP:SIG). This can probably be resolved by un-checking the "Treat the above as Wiki markup" checkbox at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-personal. Thanks! —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 00:43, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Biography on Maurice Lipschitz[edit]

The name is incorrect. It should be Morris Lipschitz. My husband Gerry lipschitz is his son. Thank you. Ann Lipschitz — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.180.72.33 (talk) 22:10, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not seem to have an article of that name under either spelling. Please provide a link to the page where the issue may exist. Are you referring to an entry in another language Wikipedia or another site altogether? If so, the matter will need to be raised there as the various language versions are separate projects and Wikipedia has no input at other sites.. A 'Google' search has not helped much. Eagleash (talk) 22:34, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The only mention of a person called "Maurice Lipschitz" that I could find on English Wikipedia is in Lenin (horse). Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:44, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
[EC] Is this perhaps the owner of Lenin (horse)? If so, make the suggestion at Talk:Lenin (horse); and if there's no response there after a week or so, then at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Horse racing. However onerous (or plain silly) this may seem, provide evidence: "I know because he's my father in law" won't suffice. -- Hoary (talk) 22:46, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't find much useful with Google, except this possibly reliable site, which calls him "M. Lipschitz" and a blog that has "Maurice Lipschitz". Given the period (1940s), you probably need a print source. Someone at WP:RD may have access to horce-racing sources. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 01:12, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mesopotamia[edit]

This may seem petty but, "A number of primarily neo-Assyrian and Christian native Mesopotamian states existed between the 1st century BC and 3rd century AD". How is 100 years before Christ, Christian or even neo-christian? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:9000:DF08:D400:3C00:D95B:FBFA:34B1 (talk) 23:55, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
