Stuntin on You

It's not a song, so shouldn't be catted as a song, so what would you suggest I do? Cheers. Thanks. --Richhoncho (talk) 17:12, 9 September 2020 (UTC) PS: I thought that referred to text, not project boxes. --Richhoncho (talk) 17:13, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

  • Reply - @Richhoncho:, a single is more than likely a song, and is likely a hip hop single, therefore, if {{song}} can not be used, {{WPHH}} should probably be used. Also, please link to the page in question when you post on a talk page. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:53, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
I don't think you understood my point. It is simply that a misspelling, miscapitalisation or, as in this case, a mispunctuation is NOT a song, therefore it should not be project tagged as such. I suppose adding WPHH moves it, but does not solve the underlying problem. I mean, what is the point of adding a 'please curate me' tag to something that does not need curating? Do you have another suggestion? Thanks. No need to tag me, I will watch this space until the conversation is over. --Richhoncho (talk) 18:18, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Reply - Since it is a misspelling, I just changed the contents of that page to a redirect. Please see {{Uw-blank1}}. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:35, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

Rock Solid Talent Entertainment

I am looking for an article to be made for Rock Solid Talent Entertainment we have artists and bands with wikipedia pages as well as done a lot of notable work over the years with mainstream bands. 5 years ago the label was salted and only an admin can create one. I understand trying to create myself was the problem. I am learning small edits but it takes an admin to create our page Thank you for any help. Philip H Taylor (talk) 13:09, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi Jax 0677 It is salted and it say only an admin can create an article and being owner of the label I believe I am to close to the label. I guess I will just have to go without an article we will just appear as a red link on all our bands wikipedia pages. Thank you for your reply and sorry to waste your time. Philip H Taylor (talk) 13:33, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

  • Reply - @Philip H Taylor:, I understand your concern. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia created by volunteers who work on other things in addition to this project. The more notorious Rock Solid Talent Entertainment becomes, the more likely it will be to have an article. To be frank, I can not find many independent sources discussing the label in depth. --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:53, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

Ace Frehley Origins Vol. 1

Hey there -

I'm trying to change the title of Ace's Origins, Vol. 1 to Origins Vol. 1. I think since you created the page I can't make that happen, or possibly because it's a redirect? Not sure as this is the first time I'm running into the issue.

Thx in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Whigged (talkcontribs) 21:10, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Ballerini

Oops. Sorry about that - late night editing on phone, while stub-sorting. PamD 23:25, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

  • Well I did just think that in this case it might be obvious - but yes, good practice in general to link to the much-travelled Ballerini (Album), for the sake of talk page watchers. PamD 23:39, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

What's the point of a move like this? You even state you know it's wrong in your edit summary. You're not helping the situation at all because a correction still had to made. You're just moving an one improper disambiguated title to another. If you can't move an article to the proper title yourself, all you have to do is tag the title it should be at with {{db-move}}. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:00, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

  • Reply - @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars:, I moved the article, because the title "Ballerini (Kelsea Ballerina album)" is absolutely incorrect. When someone types a title with different case into the search box, it shows the correct title. When it is typed with different letters, the correct article does not show up. Therefore, when someone types "Ballerini (Album)" or "Ballerini (album)", it will more easily go to the same place. Moving the article to "Ballerini (Album)" makes it easier to find until the move is made. To start out, I moved the article from my user space to "Ballerini (Kelsea Ballerini album)", the best available article title that was available at that time. --Jax 0677 (talk) 22:18, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
Pointless. It's wrong to fix a mistake with another mistake. Let the admins handle it, it doesn't take that long that others won't be able to find what they are looking for. Most people will find it just by typing Ballerini. If you're going to do something the wrong way, you may as well just perform a copy/paste at the correct title and request a histmerge. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:34, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes, exactly. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:40, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Reply - @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars:, "When a cut-and-paste move is done, the page history of an article or talk page can be split among two or more different pages. This is highly undesirable, because we need to keep the history with the content for copyright reasons." --Jax 0677 (talk) 22:42, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes, exactly. That's what I said. It would be wrong to do that, but a histmerge will fix the histories. And it's wrong to do an unnecessary move that's going to have to be fixed anyway. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 22:48, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
  • My original point stands. In the future, a db-move request will suffice. It will be fixed in no time and common misspellings are acceptable redirects. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 23:16, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Kenosha RfClosure

Jax, Why are you initiating so many RfC with respect to the Kenosha protest article? Springee (talk) 14:11, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

@Starship.paint: as admin on RfClosure page. Jax 0677, as you are uninvolved with discussions on the Talk:Kenosha_unrest page, why are you continuing to request unnecessary closures? I asked you about this above when you placed, IIRC, over a dozen closure requests. You added another today [[1]] to a discussion that doesn't seem to need one. Flooding the noticeboard with these requests simply slows the process for requests where a closure really is needed. Please stop. Springee (talk) 02:13, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

  • Reply - I refrained from requesting closure about the "Biography" section, because it is small. I have eliminated requests for archived sections from WP:ANFRC. Hopefully, discussions will start being archived soon. "Can we include in the Responses section that CNN covered the events" sounds like something that can be closed. --Jax 0677 (talk) 02:21, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
    • There is no reason to close them. If someone wants to reply next week that's fine. Why are we in any hurry to close discussions just to archive them? If you want topics to go into the archives faster change the auto archive settings. But, more importantly, talk to the involved editor first! That talk page has only nine topics. Why do we need anyone to force closure to any of the discussions? Springee (talk) 03:26, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Reply - @Springee:, I requested one day archiving, but that got shot down. The talk page is still over 100 kB, and was up over 300 kB at one point. Sometimes, the conversations will go on indefinitely if the discussion does not get closed. People who review WP:ANFRC can decide whether or not a particular discussion needs to continue, or can be closed. One day archiving, or otherwise closing old discussions are ways to reduce the size of a talk page. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:58, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
  • This isn't an excessively long page. No one on the page is requesting these discussions get closed so what problem are you trying to solve? We shouldn't spam the request for close board to try to deal with a talk page that is too long in the opinion of an editor who isn't involved with the talk page. Springee (talk) 18:35, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Reply - @Springee:, I respectfully disagree. If you let me know which of the discussions should not remain at WP:ANFRC, I will look into that discussion. --Jax 0677 (talk) 19:45, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
  • I suggest you go to the talk page and ask editors there. Asking to archive discussions you aren't involved with seems like a questionable idea to me. Springee (talk) 20:08, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
  • @Springee: - (1) I'm not an admin, and don't want to be one. I was just participating on that page because I myself requested other closures. (2) I don't think it's questionable to request closures of uninvolved discussions. (3) That said, the spate of Kenosha requests was a bit too much, I did get a sense that some of the closure requests by Jax 0677 were not needed. My opinion, from reading the Kenosha requests, was that closures were generally only needed in discussions that had voting (because specific proposals would be there). Certainly, unneeded closure requests causing a backlog is a problem. starship.paint (talk) 13:52, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Warbringer Template

Hey there! I see that you reverted my addition of the unlinked Weapons of Tomorrow album in the Warbringer template. I'm in the process of fleshing out the article for it, so it shouldn't be linked, but it is one of their albums and it seems incorrect to leave its very existence off of the template, especially given that all of the band members are also unlinked. NoahTheDuke (talk) 17:47, 1 October 2020 (UTC)

  • Reply - @NoahTheDuke:, {{Warbringer}} is a navbox, not an infobox, therefore, only albums with articles should be linked. Also, please link to the page in question when posting on a talk page. --Jax 0677 (talk) 00:01, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

Update tag

Why is it so hard for you to simply update a template instead of expecting someone else to do it like you did on Template:G.E.M. You obviously know exactly what is missing or else you would not be tagging it, while someone else would have to figure out what is missing (especially since you never add anything to the talk page to inform other editors as to what presicely is missing). This is just another example of your abuse of tags. For someone who loves to work on and add templates to articles, this seems like you can do this yourself and not be another area where it shows your lack of willingness to be a cooperative member of this project. You expect more from others than of yourself. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 15:48, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

  • Reply - @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars:, whoever is creating the articles needs to add the navbox to the page, and add the article to the navbox. --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:59, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
    • That's not how it works. This is a collaborative effort. Not everyone who works on articles is interested in or even understands navboxes. You can be nice and leave a polite personal message on their talk page, too, to help them out instead of a passive-aggressive template message. If you notice something and you know what's wrong with it, fix it. That's being part of a community. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 02:05, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Reply - @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars:, tags such as {{otd}}, {{ods}}, {{+r}} and {{+rs}} would not exist if they should not be used. For engineering drawings, when too many things to list are changed between revisions, the description of changes might read "Extensively Revised". --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:52, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

redicrect help

Hi, I have no idea how to do a redirect. Could you remove the Chris Dale redirect, it should not go to Tank. thanks! Yellowxander (talk) 19:06, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

  • Reply - @Yellowxander:, I think this is done. Do you need anything else? --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:39, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi Jax 0677. I note that you created the above as a redirect to Tank (band) after the "delete" consensus at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chris Dale (2nd nomination). I'm not sure I agree this is correct, as there's already a Christopher Dale (disambiguation) page with at least two other Chris Dales mentioned. I'd suggest that redirecting Chris Dale to that disambiguation page, and mentioning the bassist Chris Dale there with a link to Tank (band) would be a better option. Do you have any objections to this? Thanks for your efforts on this! ~ mazca talk 21:13, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

  • Reply - @Mazca:, I have no objection to your proposal. Please proceed. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:23, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
Sorry just seen this. A Tank redirect is not recommended. He was a member of the band for a couple of years, not at all integral to the group.Yellowxander (talk) 19:08, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks Jax, and @Yellowxander: - I've retargeted it now and re-mentioned him at Christopher Dale now with links to Atom Seed, which seems to be the project he was most heavily involved with that actually still has an article, and also Tank (band) which seems to be the most actually notable group he's had significant involvement with. Totally unfamiliar with his work, though, so I'm sure someone else might have a different idea. Thanks both! ~ mazca talk 19:22, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of List of pipeline accidents in the United States in 1974

Hello Jax 0677,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of pipeline accidents in the United States in 1974 for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

If you add {{collapsible option}} to a navbox, you must add |state = {{{state|}}} as well or this is false documentation. Adding |state = autocollapse is pointless because autocollapse is the default value. Bobby Hutcherson discography

Hi Jax 0677,

is it ok with you, when I reorganize the disco of Bobby Hutcherson? I would use a sortable table (and probably a second for side-man sec) with rec and release date, which is obviously interesting in his case. A tag has been placed on Mo3 (rapper), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Notability of a discography

Hi. I found Leo Ku discography, which you tagged with Template:Notability a few years back. I'm actually wondering why. The artist himself is clearly notable, and the discography is long enough that it makes sense to spin it off into a separate article. It's unsourced, which is an issue, but it's not a notability issue, right? I'd like to hear your thoughts on it, anyway. Thanks! Lennart97 (talk) 22:17, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

  • Reply - @Lennart97:, the burden to add references is on the person who added the material. --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:17, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
That's a sourcing issue, and the "unsourced" tag is completely justified. What I'm asking is what justifies the "notability" tag. Here's another way to look at it - if the discography were just a section of the artist's article you wouldn't have placed a notability tag on it, right? If the artist is notable, then so is their discography, whether it's a section or, for no other reason than its length, a separate article. Lennart97 (talk) 23:28, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Reply - @Lennart97:, people can add whatever they want to an article. This is exactly the reason why reliable references are mandatory. --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:30, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
    Again, that's a sourcing issue, not a notability issue... Lennart97 (talk) 23:34, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

I've asked for clarification at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Discographies#Notability of discography articles, maybe that will clear things up. Lennart97 (talk) 12:19, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Alicia DJ Khaled requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bennv3771 (talk) 17:07, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

@Jax 0677: Yeah I know. But because you moved it back to the correct page name, Twinkle detected you as the redirect creator and automatically sent you the above message when I tagged the redirect for speedy deletion. Bennv3771 (talk) 20:40, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Your thread at WP:ANRFC

I removed the thread asking for a re-listing of a WP:RM thread. Please don't list every discussion you're involved with at WP:ANRFC. In this case, Requested Moves are already listed at WP:RM, and you don't even want the discussion closed at this time. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 16:43, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

  • Reply - @:, I have not posted every discussion in which I have been involved at WP:CRQ, but I will try to use discretion in the future. --Jax 0677 (talk) 16:59, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
    • Thanks. Regular moves get picked up in 2-3 days most of the time; something super-controversial like the Chauvin one (or very delayed) would make sense to list. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 22:03, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
    • Also, templates like {{ping}} and {{yo}} only work if you add your signature in the same edit. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 22:05, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Stranger Heads Prevai requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2021 May 16#Stranger Heads Prevai. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

Hey, I made my first sandbox.

I saw you're message, and I decided that I'd take you're advice. I made my first sandbox, since I thought of checking out the main editor before anything. I decided to make it about the name "Joe". Here is the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Pain_is_fantastic/sandbox tell me what I can do to fix it. I am new to Wikipedia, and I know I probably did MANY incorrect things. So, if you can, please tell me what I can do to improve, so that one day become a good editor. (I know I'm probably doing something wrong , even writing this. Please forgive me, I'm new ;)) Pain is fantastic (talk) 02:54, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

How template parameters work

FYI, this edit is entirely pointless. The default for a navbox is autocollapse, so there is no reason to specify autocollapse. There is a big difference between | state = {{{state|autocollapse}}} and | state = autocollapse. The first one actually does something, while the second one is entirely pointless. When you add documentation to a template stating that the collapsed state can be changed using the state parameter, you must have | state = {{{state|autocollapse}}} or | state = {{{state|}}} or | state = {{{state|collapsed}}} or ... Really, anything that has the triple braced state in the template. Otherwise, the you are adding false documentation. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 02:28, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

  • Reply - @Plastikspork:, if you would be so kind, instead of deleting {{cop}}, could you add {{{state}}} like TonyTheTiger has done in the past? Thank you very much for your attention to these matters. --Jax 0677 (talk) 23:29, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
