Hi, Matty. I noticed that you created the above article, and am impressed with the job done so far. However, I also noticed that you assessed the article yourself on the talk page. The convention is for creators or substantial expanders to submit their articles to WP Biography Assessment, and await an independent view. It is apparently frowned on for 'self-assessment' to be done. As it happens, I must say that the article as it stands looks to be still a Stub, rather than a Start - there is so much basic information which still needs to be added. Please get back to me. - I won't argue with your rationale. Some know me as quite strict when I do assessments, and my only beef really is with the amount of information contained within the article. As far as solid prose goes, it still borders on stub-length - "Either a very short article or a rough collection of information which is not yet structured as an article" - well, it's properly structured, no doubt. You have got the image, which many articles haven't, so I'm not going to re-assess downwards. But do remember that we aren't supposed to do our own - I got my knuckles rapped by a very experienced assessing editor the first time I did it, so I always submit my own, and I'm happy with the results I get. Try expanding Pikey if you can - I may look in when I have time, as I have an intense interest in referee articles, having been one. Best wishes and keep up the good work. - I always, without fail, open the Google search homepage (not iGoogle - that's an over-controlling pain in the a*se), and in his case would type in >"Mike Pike" referee<, exactly as shown within the chevrons, but not including the chevrons. You will get a list of results to sift through. Discounting all the blog, wikimirror and forum sources of course, then click on each result to see whether it's of great interest, confirms info such as date and place of birth, or counts towards notability.
- My result No. 2 is a very interesting snippet for instance - not so much the accusation that Pike somehow caused player injuries (that's obviously ridiculous and typical of Pulis), but the bit about arriving late for a match due to a motorway crash on the way there - that's exactly the kind of out-of-the-ordinary, quirky incident I would be looking to introduce into the article. I always work chronologically within sections, so it would be slotted in somewhere between becoming a FL referee and his intention to retire, rewording as necessary. Again, my result No. 4 goes to confirm how outstanding the incident was in the media and/or public consciousness, and makes me think it's definitely got to go in. The only thing left then is to choose the best reference to actually use in the article (I'd probably choose The Guardian as the more reliable). I usually back up those match report references with the corresponding Soccerbase match detail page (if anything, I definitely indulge in referencing overkill!), so that the result, scorers, bookings, etc. can be checked easily, and it serves also to confirm that he actually officiated there.
- My result No. 10 shows that he was chosen to be fourth official in the Johnstone's Paint (FL Trophy) Final at Wembley earlier this year. That's got to go in - it's highly notable being a final competition match held at the national stadium. Then back it up by doing a second search for >"Mike Pike" referee football league trophy 2008<. That should bring up more specific information on his role in the Final, and perhaps something more interesting he did during it (the above reference is 'before the fact' i.e. describes his participation in a then future event - what you really want is 'after the fact', match report or news report, that sort of thing).
- I think you can see what I'm on about from just the above. If you'd rather I pressed on with it, I should be able to find time soon. Otherwise, good luck with it, and don't forget, you can always take a look at how one of mine is constructed, perhaps Graham Laws (which, although an article about a seemingly 'bitpart' ref, came to life as I was constructing it). - The reason I removed it in the first place is that Argentina U-21 doesn't exist, combined with the fact that BDFA makes no mention of his appearances in youth football (seleciones nacionales). They have accurate youth statistics for his peers, such as Farias, Galletti, Saja and Duscher. I'd be inclined to delete it on the assumption that it's made up, since the level he supposedly played at is made up. I'll leave the decision up to you. EP 13:41, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Infobox images / Fulfordgate
Hi there Matty, good work on adding the images to the footballer infoboxes. From a purely aesthetic point of view though, I was wondering if you could trim a couple of them? I personally don't think the long, skinny size of photo fits well into an infobox. For Rob Hulse for example, I think it would look better (and more professional) to crop the photo above the rogue hand in shot (it's not vital to see the player's legs). Similarly for Mark Crossley, the small child doesn't necessarily need to be there. These are just my opinions, so I'll leave it to you to make any changes you see fit, and I don't feel particularly strongly about it.
On another topic, I added a 1936 OS map to Fulfordgate, to go with the 1931 image I added previously. I was thinking about getting a photo of Fulfordgate / Eastward Avenue as it stands today, but as it is purely residential I'm not sure where it would sit from a privacy point of view. Adding end of International dates to England players for their last call ups
You seem to be adding end dates to the careers of certain England players, notably Emile Heskey and Keiron Dyer, who have not retired. Even though they haven't been capped since 2007, that doesn't mean they won't be capped again, so the ending date is misleading because it implies retirement - so therefore I think it's better if such dates aren't there. You've got it down as Spud Murphy, which was the aforementioned players' nickname, and it looks like he played for Scarborough at the right time. Hi, sorry for the late reply. they joined the Midland League in 1927 because it was stronger. They requested entry into the league rather than getting "promoted", in lower league football this was a common practice before the system properly sorted itself out.
As for the FA Cup, the ones missing that they actually competed in are as follows;

- 1889-90 - QR1
- 1890-91 - QR1
- 1891-92 - QR2

Hi. I noticed your changes to David Brown (footballer born 1989) today and have a query regarding his height. Do you have any source for him being 5ft 11in. - I've removed the height for the time being. My own guess is somewhere similar to Michael Owen's, though it really wouldn't surprise me to see him still grow - he looked like the ball boy when he first came on for us. Also, the current place of birth says York. The only source I had was Leeds, but I had one user, claiming to be his mum saying York, so that might need looking out for. Hello. I recently reverted an edit by a vandal on the Portsmouth F.C. article. Prior to this event, you also reverted the edits of Mr Hall of England who bolded some of the players in the article. He has done it again before my reversion of a different editor, see here. Two things
Where are you getting full names for players from? (and in the light of recent discussions re Playerhistory, what reason do you have for believing it reliable :-) And re changing date formats on Artur Krysiak, you may not be aware that MOS:DATE basically says that if an article's stable with a particular format, it shouldn't be changed just for style considerations. - 1) If you have the PFA book about you, do me a favour and look up how it spells Mat(t)hew as in Mat Sadler. Re Jerome, findmypast's right in this case, I'm sure; a long time ago I remember someone, possibly a family member, added a name beginning with R, but it was reverted. 2) Krysiak's not an English player, though, just happens currently to play for an English club.
