WUB[edit]

Hello, just curious if the inspiration for your username was the Philip K. Dick short story. Tufflaw 02:44, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. Tufflaw 17:16, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

COTW Project[edit]

You voted for Lee Smith (baseball), this week's Collaboration of the week. Please come and help it become a featured-standard article. -- King of Hearts | (talk) 22:33, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On my departure...[edit]

Okay, so I'm breaking my promise by adding to your talk page. :)

Seriously, I thanked Friday, and I'll thank you, too, for the thoughts. As I told Friday, though, the whole idea of an admin taking a comment made in IRC as official word to pull various rugs out from under various people is intolerable to me, especially when the reasoning seems threatening to those of differing opinions. I have the distinct impression now that, because I choose to share a religious affiliation or other "non-encyclopedic" trend, I'm not welcome.

I'll probably continue to monitor my talk page, but just in case, you can always email me. --Joe Sewell 22:03, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stopped being funny?[edit]

It never stops being funny. It's even funnier now because it pisses you off :) Have a nice day!

Mike Garcia gone or not[edit]

Don't worry. I'm not leaving for a long time. I'm back anyway. I just took a break anyway. -- Mike Garcia 23:08, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rfa thanks[edit]

Hello The wub. Thank you for supporting my Rfa! I will try my best to be a good administrator. Please ask me if you need any help. --a.n.o.n.y.m t 17:43, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have supported Greek literature at the WP:IDRIVE some time ago. I have now renominated it at the new Wikipedia:European Union collaboration. Please consider supporting it there if you are still interested! --Fenice 13:16, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merci beaucoup[edit]

Hello wub, thank you for your support in the Esperanza election. Let me know if I can do anything for you in return. with kind regards Gryffindor 16:17, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Many thanks for your support on my request for adminiship, I'm sure you'll be glad to know the final result was 92/1/0. I am now an administrator and (as always) if I do anything you have issue with, please talk about it with me. --Alf melmac 11:34, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship[edit]

Thank you, the last two days have been rather productive for me, from over 1900 edits to over 2100, so that might be a factor in all these nomination offers.

PS I voted on Wikipedia talk:Requests for rollback privileges earlier today ;-)

Thank you[edit]

Francs2000's Bureaucratship

Thanks for your support on my request for bureaucratship.

The final outcome was (70/5/0), so I am now a bureaucrat. I seriously didn't expect so many good comments from everybody and I appreciated the constructive criticism from those that gave it. If you have any queries, suggestions or problems with any of my actions as a bureaucrat then please leave me a note. -- Francs2000 22:03, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1000[edit]

Thanks Wub. I'm lucky i've gotten into the real world again, because this place has become incredibly depressing. I see the names of valuable people I couldn't save from the mob and I weep at times. Purplefeltangel. Durin. Essjay(for the most part). Redwolf24 along with many, many Esperanzans, and now Slim Virgin is on the verge.

Kelly Martin and her gang are having their way at their whim, despite any apparent resistence. Welcoming is seeming more and more useless other than for the purpose of the sheer astonishment of statistics. karmafist 05:19, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the negativity up there, it's my new year's resolution to reduce or eliminate that outlook regardless of outside stimuli, but it looks like i'm not there yet. I will endeavor to reach my goal, and I look forward to you being wowed by my 2000th Welcome. karmafist 02:32, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Explanation and Further Apology[edit]

I'm glad to hear about Red, and to me, Durin was RFA, so when he left actively vetting the candidates, he seemed to be only a shadow of what he was to me. As for Essjay, I guess he just learned earlier than me that Wikipedia's underpinnings are like an ocean and you just gotta flow with it. It's even becoming past Jimbo's control, as seen by the Seigenthaler incident.

Ultimately, 2005 was an insanely bad year for me. I'm a journalist by trade, but I put my career on hold in an attempt to steer it in a new direction after graduating from college in December '04 and wanting to avoid the fate of a few friends of mine who had a bad time in the profession and to hopefully become a politician here in New Hampshire.Unfortunately, this decision just caused alot of misery on my part -- several part time jobs, a few freelance paper jobs, a Real estate license that hasn't gone far yet, and continuing to live with my parents(oy...).

I think the past few months have rubbed off on me here, but luckily, 2006 has been alot better so far. I've gotten two decent part time jobs in the past two weeks, started at a new Real estate agency(my last boss was a crook), started up again on my novel, and things here begin to seem calming down at least. I guess the trick is understanding like Essjay has, that it's just like an ocean and if you go too hard into it, it'll swallow you up. I have no doubt we'll have another Kelly Martin RFC, only with someone other than Kelly and in regards to another subject, but with similiar rancor. Hopefully each one though will become smaller and smaller in intensity until eventually we don't even notice them and we can fix the things we want without trying to kill each other.

As for the userboxes, I have no qualms with your idea as long as fair use on user pages isn't attacked. I have no problem with using images that don't require fair use to be invoked if there are images available that are indicative of the subject and don't look like shit, such as the compromise with Template:User Rebel Alliance. However, if there aren't alternatives, not using fair use seems to be little more than paranoia, i'm going to try and get the opinion of a friend of mines' lawyer colleague in the next few days to get a real opinion rather than all the innuendo and babble regarding the subject on Wikipedia lately. karmafist 13:57, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apology for possibly bumming you out! I know how that is, I tried going on a wiki break last month and I ended up having 100 edits per day ;-) karmafist 14:25, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Thank you for your support! I have decided to withdraw my nomination, due to growing oppose votes due to my lack of experence (and because I have userboxes on my page?). I will now aim to continue, and broadern my scope from userboxes. I will accept a nomination, should one be made, in 1-2 months. Ian13ID:540053 18:17, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I made the effort to remove the 2 userboxes which added me to supports userboxes stuff which people disliked, and also by hiding them I feel is a suitable compromise. I feel opposing based on things like that should be stopped, but it would still continue, probably just with a different excuse. And I will stand again should someone nominate me (very) late feb onwards. But once again, thank you for the trust you placed in me. Ian13ID:540053 19:33, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA Thanks[edit]

Please accept my embarrassingly belated thank you for supporting my RfA, which much to my surprise passed 102/1/1, earning me minor notoriety. I am grateful for all the supportive comments, and have already started doing the things people wanted me to be able to do. And hopefully nothing else... Just zis  Guy, you know? Thank you for voting![edit]

Community Justice[edit]

Hey. Can i interest you with a place on the Community Justice council? ComputerJoe 09:53, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Everyone's excuse. I really won't require much time. I just need to set-up a council. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Computerjoe (talkcontribs) 21:02, January 29 2006 (UTC)

An Esperanzial note[edit]

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
