Help pages[edit]

The wub, Ocaasi just mentioned on Jimbo's talk page (yes, I know, drama page ...) that you were doing some work on the Help page. Could you have a look? User_talk:Jimbo_Wales#Brainstorming:_How_can_we_improve_the_Wikipedia_complaints_system.3F Cheers, JN466 18:30, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User page header[edit]

Hullo,

I'm thinking of adapting your user page header for using on my own. I could have just gone ahead and done it, but it seemed polite to let you know first, seeing how user pages are personal things. If you'd prefer me not to, please feel free to say so.

Cheers, — Hex (❝?!❞) 13:00, 8 October 2012 (UTC).[reply]

No problem, glad you like it! the wub "?!" 13:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I like things that are fresh, clear and easy to understand. Ta! — Hex (❝?!❞) 13:28, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
EDIT: omg, signature clash!

Help pages[edit]

Hi Pete,

I've left a few notes on Help talk:Contents#Discussion; mainly cosmetic, but I think it'll definitely need a bit of tweaking to take account of the redesign of Wikipedia:Contact us and its subpages. Otherwise, pretty neat work - well done! Andrew Gray (talk) 11:58, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Page Curation newsletter - closing up![edit]

Hey all :).

We're (very shortly) closing down this development cycle for Page Curation. It's genuinely been a pleasure to talk with you all and build software that is so close to my own heart, and also so effective. The current backlog is 9 days, and I've never seen it that low before.

However! Closing up shop does not mean not making any improvements. First-off, this is your last chance to give us a poke about unresolved bugs or report new ones on the talkpage. If something's going wrong, we want to know about it :). Second, we'll hopefully be taking another pass over the software next year. If you've got ideas for features Page Curation doesn't currently have, stick them here.

Again, it's been an honour. Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 12:30, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary label[edit]

Since you previously commented on what to do with the thing, here's a heads up that I've opened a new discussion regarding it. Any input you may or may not have now would be appreciated, regardless of what you said previously. -— Isarra 06:47, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Siblings of Presidents of the United States[edit]

Category:Siblings of Presidents of the United States, which you created, has been nominated for possible deletion, merging, or renaming. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the Categories for discussion page. Thank you. —Justin (koavf)TCM 09:42, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SimCity (series)[edit]

I temporally reverted your move of SimCity (series) because all but 2 or three (which I have fixed) of the redirects to SimCity are supposed to go to SimCity (1989 video game), and we don't want the bots mis-targeting those redirects. That would have been quite a mess. Sorry I didn't discuss it with you first, but I wanted to do that before the bots messed up the redirects. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 15:09, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the redirects. the wub "?!" 15:15, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've already tagged it to be moved back, but I just noticed your an amidan, so you can do it yourself. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 15:18, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Talking of which, and as Dodoïste asks (Help talk:Contents#Discussion), what are we waiting for? I assume we're waiting for you (or whoever) to be available for a few hours or days in a row, so that whoever does the changeover has time to get all the changes cued up mentally before implementing them, and then also to respond to any problems reported at the talkpage. But possibly you're waiting for feedback or assistance on some point in particular? Eagerly, —Quiddity (talk) 20:53, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I've been quite busy with fundraising and real-life matters the past week. Now someone's closed the RfC (yay!) I'll go ahead and make the changes. the wub "?!" 12:04, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No apologies needed at all! I was just offering a friendly nudge, because your redesign is fantastic, and will be much welcomed by readers&editors alike :) —Quiddity (talk) 21:06, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a newsletter[edit]

This is just a tribute.

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 11:23, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arbcom elections[edit]

Hi : )

I was wondering if you might be interested in running this year? : ) - jc37 21:03, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm flattered that you'd think of me, but it's not something I'd have sufficient time for. Maybe next year. the wub "?!" 11:56, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AFT5 newsletter[edit]

Hey all :). A couple of quick updates (one small, one large)

First, we're continuing to work on some ways to increase the quality of feedback and make it easier to eliminate and deal with non-useful feedback: hopefully I'll have more news for you on this soon :).

Second, we're looking at ways to increase the actual number of users patrolling and take off some of the workload from you lot. Part of this is increasing the prominence of the feedback page, which we're going to try to do with a link at the top of each article to the relevant page. This should be deployed on Tuesday (touch wood!) and we'll be closely monitoring what happens. Let me know if you have any questions or issues :). Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 14:31, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AFT5 office hours[edit]

Hey all :). Just a quick note to say we'll be holding office hours in #wikimedia-office at 21:30 UTC this Thursday (the 29th) to show everyone the additional tools we're thinking of working on. All attendence and feedback is appreciated :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 14:03, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
