No, I'm not asking for one but you brought it up. :) Yeah, there is actually something called RC Patrol on here. There's several ways to do it. Some simply watch the Recent Changes page. Page blanking[edit]

I would like to ask you not to blank articles, not even if they meet the speedy deletion criteria. You are only adding work to other users, including administrators, who have to check if the article used to have meaningful content and has been vandalized, or if it was useless. If you encounter an obviously useless article, mark it for deletion using the templates {{delete}} or {{deletebecause|reason for deletion}} (the short versions are {{d}} and {{db|reason}}).

"OS Hideout" and nonsense articles[edit]

If a completely nonsensical article gets created repeatedly by a single user, we can protect it as an empty article, with a message saying "this article should not be created". I don't usually bother to do that until the page has been recreated several times, though - deleting articles is not hard (for administrators, anyway). Thanks for your help flagging the article. Anyway, the reason I was snoopin' around was that, regarding your *** edit on Groove.com, I wanted to say that Wikipedia is not rated PG (there's a proliferation of all number of words [1] [2] [3] and pictures that are not PG-rated). Thank you for my welcome![edit]

Hello Master Master of Puppets! In answer to your question, yes it is freezing cold in the UK at the moment. The rain has come now so it is a tad warmer: BBC 5-day Weather. I actually live in a large city in the East Midlands and having recently moved from the warmer South West I am noticing it more than usual! We have even had some snow (quite unusual this side of the New Year) but alas it did not settle; ironically it did in my old home where snow is much rarer than up here in then Midlands.

Maybe you can help me with something? I have seen there are many ways to list yourself as a Wikipedian...I have added myself to the Wikipedia:New user log and subsequently to listing in order of arrival. However I understand that this is now depreciated and that the use of categories should be encouraged. Could you help me out with adding myself to some of these many lists? Well, listing might be the traditional way to introduce yourself, but I would encourage prowling around in the background, wiping off some of the spam (you can usually find this in the New Pages area). However, I'll try to pick up some lists for you, and if you'd like to get to know Wikipedia, I recommend the Wiki boot camp. Also, on a small note, you can personalize your signature by going to your Preferences, checking the Raw Text box under the signature, and then entering in some code like this; [[User:Example|Example]]<sup>[[User talk:Example|(*Yay*)]] which turns into Example(*Yay*). P.S You might want to try experimenting with signature code; very fun. For example;

A userbox is a type of template. You need to create it as a template.

You could use this (and its Talk page) to make a template of a template. For example, see this Esperanza userbox template. More info is at:

How do you add the time stamp?

Changing section titles?[edit]

Now I have a question for you. What is the proper way to changes the title of a section? There might be links that go directly to that section of an article. I don't want to break those links, but I want to change the section's title. Any ideas? --Tiger Marc 12:43, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... I'm not sure about this, my friend, as I've never used links that go to a section. You could get away with changing
[[text]]

Into: 

[[text|other text]]

Number 1 produces text; Number 2 produces other text; As you can see, they both link to the same page, but use a different title.

Example: we can link to Hockey with, say, Captain Kirk, Star Trek. Hope that helped!

Is there a way to find links to a section of an article? (I see the "What links here" link in the left column, but that is for the whole article. I would like something more precise, but I'm beginning to think there is no such thing.)

Image copyright problem RE: Image:MatrixCross.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MatrixCross.jpg. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law. We need you to specify two things on the image description page:

  • The copyright holder, and
  • The copyright status

The copyright holder is usually the creator. If the creator was paid to make this image, then their employer may be the copyright holder. If several people collaborated, then there may be more than one copyright holder. If you created this image, then you are the copyright holder.

Because of the large number of images on Wikipedia, we've sorted them using image copyright tags. Just find the right tag corresponding to the copyright status of this image, and paste it onto the image description page like this: {{TAGHERE}}.

There are 3 basic ways to licence an image on Wikipedia:

  • The copyright holder can also release their work into the public domain. See here for examples.
  • Images from certain sources are automatically released into the public domain. This is true for the United States, where the Wikimedia servers are located.   • Hi there. I understand that you created the image, but you need to specify a license to let people know what they can and cannot do with your image. If you want to allow anyone to do anything they like with it, you can add {{PD-self}}. If you want to add some restrictions on use, choose one of the many other licenses which are available. When I did a google search just now I found all of 8 unique pages, all of which seem to be about The Wizard's Amulet (whatever that is). I wanted to give the poster the chance to explain that. Oh well. I try not to get involved in fancruft stuff, so although I don't particularly think it's noteworthy, I don't think every Pokemon ever is either. Diny Cristian's Space Lane II[edit]

You've added it to the Photoshop article and stated that it's used with permission. Judging by your description, however, it seems that you're unsure whether it's correct. Are you absolutely certain that you've got permission from Diny Cristian to post this here? Did you e-mail him or ask him publicly? I totally love the image, but I think that you shouldn't put it there if you're not sure about whether Cristian would want you to. Hi, I just noticed this too. I'm afraid that, even if you had written permission from the artist, the image is not allowed on Wikipedia: see [4] for an explanation. Please do not upload copyrighted images onto Wikipedia, as they can irrepairably damage the project's legal standing. I'm deleting the image now.
Also, I'm afraid that Image:Guildbox.jpg can't be used on your user page, since that's not an accaptable use to be covered under fair use and is therefor also a copyright violation. Would you mind taking it out of your userbox?

Yeah, I'm sorry about that. If you were to convince him to release his image into GFDL, CC or the public domain, then it would be ok for wikipedia, but I doubt that he'd want to do that (he'd basically be giving up his rights to stop other people from using his image). I'm starting a article called World Rally Championship Games. This will hopefully contain stage and country lists and driver, co driver and team lists for the Playstaion 2 games, WRC World Rally Championship, WRC Extreme II, WRC 3, WRC 4 and WRC:Rally Evolution/WRC: Rally Evolved. Sorry, I didn't notice someone had already let you know...few people actually do. Heck if I know. A lot of people are prod-happy, as far as I can tell, and if it doesn't look notable prima facie, they just tag it and move on, because heaven forbid we have too many articles.
Just remove the notice and put some information about the short's significance. I'm guessing that the person who prodded this article would prod the other one if they saw it. I'd suggest you ask him, but I see you already did. With prod, anyone, including the creator, can object to a deletion, and the most someone can do is send it to AfD (unless of course it meets the speedy criteria). Please see my article World Rally Championship Games and help me because I would like the first paragraph, then the contents, then a overview of WRC World Rally Championship, all the stages, all the teams, cars, drivers and then have a break. (Line across the page) I can't figure out any way to do it! Please Help!

I'd be happy to see it put back in given reason. Though you could just as easily call bad or simplistic animation 'style choices'. South Park pokes fun at itself for being so poorly animated, their episodes are created in a little under 3 days.
